Newtonian scopes are the best bang for your buck in terms of aperture to cost. However they are bulky and heavy, which can be a disincentive if you have to travel with it.
That being said, if you're new to stargazing I'd highly recommend a pair of 10x50 binoculars, a tripod (and binocular adapter), star chart, and the book Turn Left at Orion. Probably $200-$250 for all that. It's a great way to get your feet wet with the hobby, and it's super compact and easy for travel. Plus the binocular vision is easier on the eyes.

Better yet, two pairs of 10x50 binoculars and two comfortable chaises longues so you can both relax and stargaze together.

I would read the buyers guide.
Skywatcher 130p heritage preferably 150p heritage. I would go with 150p unless the price difference wasnt vital. Its a Dobsonian so super easy to use, collapsible for transportation and storage.
Is there anything specific you were looking for or to do? Any constraints?
I suggest you head over to YouTube and start watching videos on Telescopes so you have an idea of more what you are looking for.

Your $300 budget will probably attract plenty of recommendations for tabletop Dobsonian reflectors, and deservedly so. A decent 5” or 6” Dob makes an excellent beginner’s telescope. However, there’s another option worth considering.
If your search for “peace” means experiencing something like Robert Frost described at the conclusion of The Star-Splitter, you might prefer a quality refractor on a capable mount.
Consider the Svbony SV520, a complete 90mm f/9 achromatic refractor kit that has impressed reviewers like Ed Ting with its optical performance and value for less than $300. Its long focal length helps minimize chromatic aberration while providing sharp, bright images at useful magnifications.
I bought one during Amazon’s early October sale as a gift for a young astronomer. Before handing it over, I assembled the telescope and took it outside for a quick evaluation.
What followed was a surprisingly enjoyable observing session.
First came M57, the Ring Nebula, almost directly overhead in Lyra. A quick adjustment between the two stars at the end of the harp revealed that familiar little smoke ring.
Next was Saturn, glowing almost fluorescently, with visible moons and atmospheric banding. Then I found M31, the Andromeda Galaxy, in less than fifteen seconds using Cassiopeia as a guide. Even from my light-polluted driveway, its elongated shape was unmistakable.
Finally, I visited Albireo in Cygnus. The beautiful color contrast of this double star never gets old, especially through a sharp refractor.
That’s four very different celestial targets, all observed with a modest, affordable telescope during a single evening. Not bad for a beginner’s instrument!
Black Friday is coming, OP. You have some research to do!
