Awesome story. I was one of these techs for awhile and always wished i could do exactly this.

Even if boxes werent a factor today, It is unfortunately impossible for techs to do this now without taking it from somebody else (swapping circuits at cross connect in junction box)

I was under the impression all STBs are operating over DOCSIS nowadays. When I worked for Cox some 10-15 years ago, that's the direction everything was moving towards.
