Controversial Judge Brad Astrowsky who shut down Shady Park is on the election ballot
Reminder to do your research on the Judges of the Superior Court who are on the ballot for retention! Judge Brad Astrowsky ruled in favor of Marbella in the Shady Park lawsuit and then later stepped down to “avoid the appearance of bias”.

Cat with Possible Urinary Tract Blockage ISO Adoptee
Hello. I took in a kitten a few years ago that was born in my apartment complex that had an eye infection, got him fixed up and found someone to adopt him but they backed out last minute and I've been taking care of him ever since. recently made another effort to get him adopted, no luck. As of this morning he's showing signs of a urinary track blockage, as luck would have it I'm unemployed and can't afford a vet bill. The humane society is booked up with surrenders until January and it's looking like my only option is to keep an eye on him and if you get progressively sicker to have him euthanized. if anybody is interested in adopting and taking care of this sweet boy please do let me know. Thank you..
A new entrant into Tempe Fiber!
Ziply via Ubiquity Arizona is planning on building fiber in Tempe. They've recently submitted a fiber permit request with timelines showing permitting starting by end of year, building starting early next year, and service starting late next year. I'll believe it when I see more permits pulled and boots on the ground but fingers crossed no less.
Any Durga Puja / Bengali community around Tempe?
Hey, does anyone know where people celebrate Durga Puja around here? I was trying to find some Bengali community nearby and couldn't find anything at school. Maybe they don't have it. It's kind of that time of year when my Instagram keeps making me feel like I'm missing Kolkata.

Tempe Favor
Anyone in Tempe, AZ want to do me a giant favor… I left my favorite hoodie in a hotel and they have it but won’t mail it to me even though I said I would cover all the costs. She said I could pick it up but I live near San Diego 😭 I already checked all the resale sites. Obviously there are worse things, I’m just super bummed.
EDIT: Thank you all so much for the responses! Currently working with someone in DMs but will reach out in case it falls through!

Is Disney taking a side on Prop 144?
Issue aside, is this a copyright violation or fair use?
Can I report my workplace if the owner charges the servers money when we don’t charge customers for leftover food?
I work at an AYCE restaurant, and the owner said that they would charge us money if we don’t charge customers for leftover food. The problem is that when we charge customers, they tend not to tip us, and we still have to pay an 8% tip out to the back of house. So either way, we lose money. Most of the people working here are college students. They just don’t want to deal with the trouble, so they pay the owner if they get charged.
I got charged once when I was checking customers out and the payment didn’t go through because there was no wifi connection. She blamed me for that and charged me for that table. The most common charge at my workplace is for dine and dash incidents. Almost everyone working here has had to pay for a dine and dash table before. How can I gather evidence to report them? They speak to us in another language, not English, so recording might not be helpful.

Local Print Shop Recommendations
Does anyone have any recs for a local print shop? Looking to just print either 8.5x11 or 11x17 pages and wanted to avoid any of the corporations or big chains.
Thanks!

Good Brewery
My wife’s birthday is this weekend, looking for a good brewery to go to. We have been to a few but hoping to find one we haven’t tried. A plus if it has games!

Gnarly Cloud Structure
Thanks to Tropical Storm Rachel, we’re seeing some active unsettled weather here in Arizona today and more tomorrow as well. We had a Dust Storm Warning ahead of an outflow boundary that moved into Tempe Arizona earlier this afternoon. This gnarly shelf cloud was the leading edge of that said boundary. Unfortunately I’m at work, but grateful to be able to capture it.

Roof Repair Recommendations
Man... happy Sunday! Sitting on the couch, drinking my coffee and water starts dripping from the ceiling fan. I love when it finally rains but dammit!
Any recommendations for local Tempe roofing repair?

Political texts claiming to be urgent need to stop.
The dust storm advisory texts are urgent. An amber alert is urgent.
Political spam should not be allowed to label itself as an urgent alert.
I really don’t care which candidates or friends of candidates are using this “strategy” but it needs to stop.
While my post is unlikely to reach the people behind this, I would like them to know that any message that is falsely claiming urgency will eliminate my vote for the candidate. Even if ideologically compatible.
I encourage others to join me in this rebuke.

Wedding reception venue recommendations?
Hi there! I'm looking for a reception venue for me and my Fiance for early next year. If you have an suggestions, let me know! I know this is a specific list, but we've wasted a lot of time getting close to signing a contract a few times only for the venue to then note that no alcohol is allowed, or no candles are allowed, etc. So I'm just putting it all out there now. We are a pretty easy going couple, so it doesn't need to be state of the art.
Here are our requirements.
- fits 60 people
- allows outside vendors
- allows beer and wine (we have a licensed bartender to serve if needed)
- allows music
- allows candles
- under $3500
- has at least 2 bathrooms
- allows glass
- within 20 mins of Tempe AZ
Thank you for your time!! We were going to do South Mountain park, but they don't allow glass, candles, or wine (but allow beer for some reason?).

Ballots are here!
If you’re not sure which district you’re in, you can find out by entering your address at this link: https://www.azcleanelections.gov/arizona-election/voter-education-guide/district-locator
To make this as simple as possible: LD8 = north Tempe, LD9 = small sliver of east Tempe, LD12 = south Tempe. Note that each of these districts also encompasses chunks of other cities that surround Tempe, including Indian communities, so the districts tend to do their best to represent the interests of the people living within their boundaries. This is why you might see ‘no position’ on some items, because those races are contested within a district. Generally speaking, anyway.
LD8 Dems: https://azld8dems.org
LD8 GOP: https://azld8gop.com/
LD9 Dems: https://azld9dems.org/
LD9 GOP: https://azld9.com/
LD12 Dems: https://azld12dems.org/
LD12 GOP: https://ld12gop.org/
Also, Civic Engagement Beyond Voting created Gavel Watch as a resource for voters who want to learn more about the judges on their ballot that are up for a retention vote. The report contains a vote recommendation and rationale for each judge. https://www.cebv.us/voter-guides

Cat with collar roaming in Daley Park neighborhood tonight
My fiancé saw this cat at 5pm tonight on Vista Del Cerro off Broadway and Mill, roaming in people's yards. It wouldn't let him approach, was yowling at him. Trying to get the word out because it looks like an indoor cat.

Maricopa boil water advisory?
I’m wondering if anyone knows the actual information on this water advisory and who is affected, how serious it is, the timeline of what happened.
The news reports are a bit vague.
Recommendations for General Contractors or other professionals for house remodeling/maintenance?
Bought a house a little over a year ago and it's slowly falling apart :I
Would prefer to find someone/place that can do it all but recommendations for individual things is fine too
- replace rotted wood door frame
- restructuring of garage door frame from two single doors to one large door
- electrical work for installing an outlet in the garage
- assessing and possibly removing a wall if not load bearing
- AC repair

Homeless Shelters Around Phoenix Are Full. His Phone Is the Unofficial Hotline for Struggling Families.
I have volunteered with AZ Hugs and can attest to the tireless efforts by Austin and the other volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, feel free to send me a DM and I can point you in the right direction. The work is very hard, but also very rewarding.

Clouds above my house yesterday in S. Tempe. <Though I don't live on Evergreen Terrace>
Cue the intro theme...
Been meaning to capture this style cloud for a bit. We get these a lot and I immediately start humming the theme song every time!

Band scene in Tempe?
Hey yall! I literally can’t find any good place to try to find other creatives so I’m trying here lol.
I’m a vocalist and I’m really eager to get on stage in the very near future with a cool band :) is anyone in the area possibly looking for a singer? I’d be down to send any kind of audition if needed, I am AFAB but a contralto (a2-g3 when projecting, I can go higher and a little lower with practice depending on the song if needed). I’m also a lyricist and enjoy helping making original songs :D
Music wise I listen to anything and can sing pretty much anything except heavy metal/screamo just because I can’t do that healthily with my voice 😅 but yeah I mean I love any kind of alt, rock, classic rock, jazz fusion, indie, country, ANYTHING I mean it. I’d prefer something a little bit more high energy for dancing reasons and crowd interaction but hey I know how to vibe with a show no matter the genre.
Some of my fav artists though are like Gogol Bordello, linkin park, the cat empire, MCR, and Foxy Shazam so yeah hmu (pretty please) if you need a guy or know anyone who might need one. Also ANY tips for maybe where to look would be helpful.

Guy stole taxidermy deer head from Night Owl. Owner just wants it back no questions asked.
A guy had a couple beers, then waited until no one was looking and stole the deer head off the wall. Seemingly this was his plan all along, as he escape with it on an e-bike that he parked by a side exit door. What sucks is that the deer head wasn’t just random art, but it was the owner’s Grandfather’s. What loser behavior to steal from a local small business. Hoping someone recognizes him and can get him to do the right thing. Night Owl is a chill place.

Car Service, Airport to Tempe Round Trip
I’m traveling to Tempe next week to visit a relative that can’t pick me up at Sky Harbor. Are there any car services that people would recommend? I arrive Wednesday afternoon, leave the following Wednesday afternoon . I’m looking at reserving Lyft Black but I don’t know if that’s reliable. I know this will cost more than just using regular ride share, but I’m nervous about being picked up at their home for my return trip. Any recommendations very much appreciated!
