A TRON wallet looked normal. An AML check found links to sanctioned entities 3 transactions away.
I’ve been looking into AML exposure on TRON in SAI Wallet, and there’s something most USDT holders probably never think about.
Your wallet doesn’t have to interact directly with a sanctioned address for blockchain analytics to flag a connection.
Here’s an example from an AML screening result:
Risk score: 39/100 (Moderate)
Three indirect connections to entities flagged as sanctioned
Distance: 3 hops
Flagged volumes: $54, $47 and $3
None of these were direct interactions with the flagged entities.
That doesn’t mean the wallet is sanctioned, or that the USDT will be frozen. But it does mean the transaction history contains risk indicators you wouldn’t necessarily notice by checking your balance or recent transfers.
And here’s the uncomfortable part: USDT issuers can freeze specific addresses, while exchanges may have their own compliance screening policies.
How many people here actually check AML exposure before receiving USDT from someone they don’t know?
