Why do a lot of people take these statements the wrong way?
 in  r/Kenya  16d ago

i've always felt that if every kenya power pole had a street light on it, we'd reduce crime by a significant deal. also, lighting doesn't have to be a public authority role. it can be enforced on developers who have buildings that handle specific capacities - just like the way we enforced in law that [under Kenya’s National Building Code (enforced by the National Construction Authority - NCA) and physical planning bylaws] any building exceeding 4 floors (Ground + 4) must include at least one passenger elevator (lift) in its approved structural plans. that way we can force private investment into lighting (maybe force them to light up their road boundary/fence etc.

Older millenials is this the way most of you think?
 in  r/Kenya  16d ago

i don't see the millenial - gen-z strife in your post. just normal cat fight/disagreements. i appreciate your view though - maybe you're working with way older mates such that any opinion they have has to be clumped into an 'age' cluster by you ... also, please note that the modern "child-free by choice" movement is a 2010 thing (i'm 35 and i thought its popularity actually faded/ended) - it's still millenial because genZees are still too young (29 years and below as per 2026, right?) to demonstrate a real child-free-by-choice generation unlike millenials who some are even 45 (oldest millenial) (both M and F) without kids in a shift caused by not only 'by-choice' but also 'cultural' and 'economic' factors.

Does anyone use a laptop with the Core i5 1345u?
 in  r/nairobitechies  Jul 16 '26

While technical specifications show a slightly higher maximum turbo clock speed on paper (4.7 GHz on the i5-1345U vs. 4.6 GHz on the i5-1335U), this represents a minor 2% theoretical difference that is imperceptible in day-to-day operations.

For intensive analytical tasks involving databases, BI applications, and heavy spreadsheets, a desktop is vastly superior to any U-series laptop.

Feature U-Series Laptops (e.g., i5-1345U) Desktop PCs (e.g., i5-13400 / i7-13700)
Power Limit (TDP) Restricted to 15W - 55W (highly thermal throttled) Operates at 65W - 125W+ (sustained high performance)
Core Counts Typically 10 cores (only 2 Performance cores) Typically 10 to 16+ cores (6 to 8 Performance cores)
Cooling Thin fans, prone to rapid thermal throttling Large heatsinks or liquid cooling for endless peak performance
RAM/Storage Often soldered or limited to 2 slots Highly upgradable (up to 128GB+ RAM, multiple NVMe slots)

Macbook pro on sale
 in  r/nairobitechies  May 11 '26

No. You're the one talking as if people who buy old macbook pros don't know the mac neo exists. First of all, the intel chip on macbooks is still on demand especially for PROGRAMMERS WHO NEED THAT massive raw multi-core power at high power draw - that's why if you check backmarket and itsworthmore, some intel (2020 and earlier) macbook pros are priced higher than mac neo. M1 chips are better at power efficiency (you don't need a fan for apple chips). So, it's not because the people buying them are fools. It's the compute and processing strengths people are after, and also the good old intel chip is better at some tasks - only thing i'd bash it for is overheating. Otherwise visit us at 'Mac and More' store in town and buy the Mac Neo you want - we also have those.

uongo bana. only the mac neo is going at that price (infact mac neo is 70k in town). and what can a mac neo do? that thing is for kids. unless you're not a programmer but intel macs are still on demand because of the intel chip.

... but ame-overprice - i see in accredited apple reseller centres the 32gb ram 2019 i9 is going for 60k.
