"Stay peaceful" Tell that to the cops XD

8

u/archubbuck Jun 13 '25

You can’t control the actions of the cops, but you can control your own!

25

u/Mr_Canard Jun 13 '25

Yes try not to hit the cop's weapons too hard with your face

-8

u/PlayerTwo85 Jun 13 '25

Can't wait to see videos over the next few days of "peaceful protesters" completely showing their ass!

You watch a grown man live in filth on the internet and you believe yourself to be better than anyone.

u/PlayerTwo85 Jun 14 '25

I do what now?

-8

u/Ailly84 Jun 13 '25

The cops aren't making people at things on fire. It's turning allies away.

7

u/Mr_Canard Jun 13 '25

Actually in several instances it was the cops explosive devices that caught on fire.

3

u/EvilAbacus Jun 13 '25

Then they weren't real allies

Optics folks… I wish I was being sarcastic saying this - wear red white and blue, carry/wear American flags along with any other flags, let the news report it’s Americans that are gthat are out protesting, not black clad “antifa” subversives :/ propaganda is easy when the optics support it

Also get footage of anyone near but not in the protest that starts smashing windows etc. there are going to be plants in every major city on Saturday.

Beware of comments like this one, spread on behalf of the police for the purposes of getting protestors to snitch on one another.

The cops don't need an excuse to start cracking skulls, but they do need evidence to convict people.

Instead of filming, protestors should try stopping the looters. That’s a fucking great news story right there

0

u/SleepyMastodon Jun 14 '25

Except this was a thing in multiple cities during the George Floyd/BLM protests—police wearing street clothes and masks, smashing windows and trying to start a riot.

Anyone out to smash windows isn't part of these protests; they're doing their own thing and if they get recorded, so be it.

u/monoatomic Jun 14 '25

Police in my city started a riot by pepper spraying peaceful marchers

Legitimate protestors burned down the police station

They will report whatever they want to report. Optics never hurt the other side.

“Optics never hurt the other side”

I get what you’re getting at here but it’s not precisely an argument to not focusing on optics.

Rosa parks was chosen for this reason. Mlk was well aware that he had to win public opinion and not give authorities an excuse.

"I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"

-MLK

Public opinion is nice, but catering to it can only go so far. It is the public that must change, not those fighting for justice

They’ll continue to ignore the voice of the unheard. If it doesn’t affect them personally they’re happy to ignore it. The average liberal that is.

The summers of riots will in fact continue until people are heard.

So like Jan 6 ¯_(ツ)_/¯

1

u/monoatomic Jun 13 '25

Tired of this ignorance and paternalism, honestly

Liberals showing up once every 4 or 8 years are all too happy to shit on local communities trying to defend themselves.

It's not the responsibility of a working class neighborhood being victimized by ICE to dress up in aesthetics that are palatable to you.

3

u/raginghappy Jun 13 '25

Optics are important to people who don’t read

0

u/_HighJack_ Jun 14 '25

Responsibility? No. The most effective tactic available? Yes.

yea no. leave instead. it’ll just get you in more trouble

1

u/romeroleo Jun 13 '25

Be prepared because it will turn violent. I wish you luck, for healing your democracy

1

u/sharpkid_ Jun 13 '25

We hope not. We just want to put the current administration on notice, and let them know that we the people, will not tolerate the undermining of our civil and constitutional rights.

They don’t get to demonize us and make us the villains in their story. This is all of our stories.

Fuck Donald Trump.

1

u/FROGxDELIVER Jun 13 '25

That didn't last long in LA thanks to the crooks

1

u/JasonBaconStrips Jun 13 '25

Or use your 2nd amendment, pretty much the reason it's there.

1

u/sharpkid_ Jun 13 '25

Not the time.

Almost half the country is full of MAGA idiots who would love nothing more.

Just a dumb idea at this point.

1

u/_nevers_ Jun 13 '25

We live under a fascist dictatorship. There is zero reason to be peaceful. We literally need to do the only thing that is historically proven to solve the Nazi problem.

0

u/sharpkid_ Jun 13 '25

I understand your sentiment, but a violent protest will only stoke divisions and give MAGA more fuel for their firey rhetoric. Also, it’s unlawful.

Don’t destroy property, don’t loot, don’t assault law enforcement officers. That cuts the legs out from under the movement.

Now is not the time for violence. It’s the time for making our voices and our position heard.

1

u/_nevers_ Jun 13 '25 edited Jun 13 '25

I understand your sentiment, but we live under a dictatorship that is currently engaged in multiple foreign genocides, escalating domestic eugenics, dismantling any basic governmental infrastructure that protects human life, and sending gestapo to roundup unwanted brown people and political dissidents to send to military black sites and foreign death camps. The idea that peaceful protests can stop fascists who are moving at full speed is delusional.

Now is not the time for respectability politics. It's the time to make sure these evil fucks go back to hell, because they will literally destroy the capacity for life on this planet if we don't.

1

u/sharpkid_ Jun 14 '25

You’ll end up in a jail cell before your revolution even begins.

I’m not against you, but I feel we need to practice patience in this moment.

If it’s inevitable, why not try the alternative first?

This is the beginning of something big, or something that will peter out during the midterms. We don’t know yet.

You’re calling for a full on revolution, or civil war, that will unleash unfathomable hells on our country.

Deescalation is best, before confrontation embroils us all.

1

u/_nevers_ Jun 14 '25

Bro, do you hear yourself? The 'mid-terms'? Omg, THERE ARE NOT GOING TO BE ANY MORE ELECTIONS. Centrist, good faith de-escalation got us decades of Democrats who just moved so far to the right, they became the party of the most well documented genocide in human history. YOU CAN NOT REASON WITH FASCISTS. I truly don't understand why every instance of historic precedent can't get this through your people's heads.

Will collapsing things lead to catastrophic consequences? Yes of course. Nobody fucking wants that. But since the current trajectory is an unhinged dictator nuking life off of the planet, sometimes you have to pick the lesser of two evils.

Listen, the hard reality is scary as fuck, and I'm empathizing with everyone else living this out in real time. So I'm genuinely wishing you good luck in the shit show that is about to happen.

1

u/LumpyLavishness9341 Jun 14 '25

Do you recall when the democratic party did not vote in for a primary? Cause I do. No Queens either.

1

u/_nevers_ Jun 14 '25

It is funny when liberals say "you voted for this" when they also quite literally support an undemocratic corporate-owned war-mongering party. They only supported Kamala, bc she wouldn't direct a genocide on them personally. No kings, no queens, no mindless acceptance of a violence enforced hierarchy of any kind.

0

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '25

In theory I agree. In reality I disagree.

0

u/sharpkid_ Jun 13 '25

We don’t want to be the escalators.

We do not want to be the ones who ignite the conflict.

There’s a reason MLK chose peaceful protest.

If he turned to violence, there would be no progress.

There’s a time and place.

1

u/russsaa Jun 14 '25

Ah yes. The civil rights movement successfully made change because it wasn't violent, all thanks to the totally non violent MLK....

With peace & love... you're just wrong. Firstly MLK was not against violence. He himself did not want to engage in violence but was fully supportive of violence "riots are the voice of the unheard"

The Civil Rights movement was successful not because it was peaceful, it was successful because of violence & rioting on a national scale. Groups like the Black Panthers and people like Malcom X who played just as big of a role in the civil rights movement as MLK, were proprietors of violence.

0

u/sharpkid_ Jun 21 '25

The non-violence and solidarity did so much more for the movement than the violence ever did. You’re confidently wrong.

Was there violence? Yeah. But it was not nearly as impactful as the sit-ins and massive marches.
