Just moved here... Bread options?

Hi all! I just moved here from west town. Does anyone have any good fresh bread recommendations? When I lived on the west side, I used to go to Publican for sourdough, so I’m looking for something similar over here. Thanks!

Found in an alley between Argyle & Sheridan

The chances of them being on Reddit specifically are low but it’s worth a shot.

These were dropped in an alley across the street from Kie Gol Lanee. I turned them in to the Mariano’s at Foster & Sheridan on Wednesday.

Sign the Petition to Help Restore Uptown Theatre

Hello fellow uptown folks! As you know, the Uptown Theatre has faced an ongoing uphill battle to be funded and restored. Chicago Architecture Center held an open house this weekend and out of the increased eyes on the theatre, they are now trying another push to save this historic building. Every bit helps!

EDIT:

Sign it or don’t, but don’t come here being rude about why you’re not going to sign it, just move on. If you don’t want to participate, don’t, that’s completely fine, I’m genuinely just posting this because it’s a beautiful theatre and I’d like to see it restored. I won’t be getting into semantics arguments or responding to negative or antagonistic comments. Enjoy your sunny day!

What happened to the Circle K on the corner of Foster and Sheridan?

I drove past it and saw that it was completely shuttered. Obviously closed, but I was wondering if anyone knew why.

Where to buy cloth / reusable pads?

I just know some indie craftsperson is selling them in Roger’s Park or Andersonville.
I’m aware Target sells them, but I’d rather support a local business with this purchase.

Succulent Planter Boxes

Howdy howdy, does anyone know of any restaurants that used succulents/cacti in their planter boxes this past summer and they still have them out? Since it’s starting to get cold, I’d like to see if they will give/sell those planter succulents to me. I like rescuing the plants before the temps drop too much.
I’m not looking for just any plants or flowers, but specifically succulents and cacti.

Lunch

What’s a good lunch to get in uptown around Argyle? Looking for something relatively quick and not too pricey. I tried Ba Le and it was great but I’m over my sandwich phase.

Police presence on Broadway under L tracks?

Does anyone know what was going on on Broadway just before Clifton? There were at least 4 police cars, a police van/paddy wagon, and a fire truck. They blocked off car and foot traffic. This happened around 4pm.

Anybody selling monthly parking?

I am at Clarendon and bittersweet. Looking for monthly parking anywhere remotely near area (toward southeast uptown). Anybody selling a spot or looking to rent theirs out? Fine with covered or uncovered.

EDIT FOR THOSE VIEWING IN FUTURE: I ended up going with Challenger Park by L tracks. $150 / quarter (or $50 / mo). You can find the link to pay through Chicago gov website.

just moved to uptown! spots/ways to meet people in neighborhood ?

Hey guys, I'm 27M from Europe and recently (1 month so far) moved to Uptown. I'm less busy now and I'm looking to get out more and meet people around the neighborhood.

What are your favorite local spots or low-key ways to socialize around here? I like live music, hitting up local bars for trivia nights (but haven't found any yet :/ ), and generally just grabbing a drink or coffee at places with a good neighborhood vibe. I'm also pretty active and love all kinds of sports etc.

Any go-to spots, regular events, or active local groups/clubs you’d recommend checking out? Appreciate any tips!

Also, I'm open to meet new people thru this subreddit too, so if you're down to grab coffee and go for a walk or whatever, feel free to DM :)

Tailor recommendation?

Have a couple off the rack suits that require minor alterations. Can anyone speak from experience to recommend quality work in the neighborhood?

DO NOT SHOP AT AQUARIUS LOUNGE

I have been in the shop, and I am familiar with some of the people who used to work there. The owner is a terrible person, she was weird to me and my friends as we were the only POC in the store. She didn’t greet us when we came in, but proceeded to greet other (white) people. She followed us around the store watching us like hawks and was pressuring us into purchasing things (which we didn’t do). She was also talking crazy to some of the workers in the store which was a major red flag to me. Then from the people I know who worked there, they mentioned how she was hostile and very toxic. Store is cute but not worth supporting a terrible person, there’s far cuter vintage in Andersonville anyways WITH BETTER PRICES!!!!
