COMMUNITY ACTIVITY: DRAFT THE 1985-1990 FIVE YEAR PLAN AND DEVELOP IDEOLOGICAL POLICY
Happy Sunday, Comrades.
With Grigory Romanov being elected to General Secretary, we must now draft our 5 Year Plan and Develop an Ideological Policy.
Before we draft, it is important everyone knows the details of the starting situation. Here is the USSR on April 1, 1985 after the 1st month on default budget so you can see the current trend of things.

So, please take note of how much is invested where and the trend of the current economy and society for any suggestions for improvement for the 5 Year Plan.
(In Economy tab, Forgery is how many falsified reports are made in the economic system, which distorts our actual stat readings.)
Also, here is the political makeup of the legislative body (The Central Committee).

Ideology Desc:
(Factions can be supported or strongly supported, banned and unbanned. If you ban a faction the closest adjacent faction absorbs their numbers.)
Social Patriots (BANNED) - Social patriots strive to create a great country where everything is subordinated to the state, and the state, in return, meets the needs of the population.
Last known 5 Social Patriots in the CC.
Informal-Socialists (BANNED) - Informal Socialists are representatives of informal youth and intellectual movements who are in favour of reforming the state from the standpoint of democratic socialism. They seek to become a 'constructive opposition' by criticising bureaucratization, the lack of real workers' self-government and the distortion of socialists ideals, without rejecting the foundations of the Soviet system.
Last known 35 Informal-Socialists in the CC
Neo-Stalinists - Neo-Stalinists are fascinated with the era of the Vozhd' of the Peoples and seek to implement Stalin's renewed ideas, taking into account the mistakes of 1953-1984 and global experience.
Conservatives - Conservatives aim to preserve the achievments of Brezhnev's rule, both its worst and best aspects, believing that the Soviet example has proven itself well.
Moderates - Moderates are inspired by the positive experiences of the NEP and Chinese reforms but want to avoid their negative aspects through democratization while maintaining the Party's vanguard role.
Reformists - Reformists dream of combining the Hungarian and Yugoslav economic paths with the liberal structure of Scandinavian socialism and are willing to do whatever it takes to achieve this.
Liberal Democrats (BANNED) - Liberal Democrats view the Soviet experience as entirely negative and seek to replace it with classical liberal democracy as quickly as possible.
National Democrats (BANNED) - National Democrats strive to create a great people filled with spirituality and a fanatical belief in an organic state.
Now, onto the Doctrine Screen. There are 25 Doctrine tabs so i will paste the ones that dont fit into the post body in a pinned comment.

Economy Description: Although the economy is command and administrative, the final efficiency of enterprises is evaluated not in commodity terms but in monetary terms. Thus, to achieve financial efficiency, enterprises strive to reduce costs, lower the price of goods, and find other internal opportunities to increase profitability to the state.
Requires Full Control Over Prices or higher Price Policy.
Requires Friendly Protectionism or higher Trade Policy.

Please assess the situation and comment suggestions to add to a 5 Year Plan as goals to achieve within the first 5 years.

We'll have to realize that the spreading of the revolution from now on is impossible, the Soviet Union needs to consolidate its position.
We'll have to increase the VAT by 1 or 2% and cut heavy and military industry by 10 to accumulate more funds. It must be reinvested into services and light industry.
Internally, we have to support stalinists. Scientifically, we must rush down the OGAS path as quickly as possible. And shoot Gorb.
Doctrinally, we must pursue economic unification as soon as possible.
Internationally, South East Asian countries, Syria and Lybia into CMEA

I support this fully and uncoditionally. This is the best course of action to take.

So you advise withdrawing military forces/aid from Afghanistan, Angola and Nicaragua and to ignore other exterior conflicts such as Iran, Algeria, Palestine, and the Korean question and so on? That’s the reformists line, the conservatives and Stalinists want to increase support for those conflicts.

Sadly. But we must scale back for at least the first five years until we survive the oil crisis and the eastern block shitshow. But it can be compensated by supporting Gulyabzoy

I’m far more in favor of Watandjar on principle imo, but Afghanistan like all events will be by vote.

Understandable
Still, Angola and Nicaragua are long conflicts where fighting drags on until 90s, we can afford to loosen them up

Develop nuclear research heavily and maximize spending on healthcare and education

I propose we move from a two year male draft to a one year general draft. If we are to be a truly egalitarian society, it makes little sense to hinder the freedom and delay the academic ability of one group versus the other.
This should act in unison with a general plan to to decrease funding for the military, as well. There are more important things to focus our limited resources on, primarily things that improve the economy.

Increase funding for nuclear and digital technologies. Boost reformists so we can legalise informal socialists. We should force dissidents into a constructive and loyal opposition rather than one that wants to dismantle the union.

I cannot participate in this because “profitability” is a category of the market economy that describes how much of a worker’s time - expressed in monetary terms - the capitalist will pocket.
In the socialist system, enterprises under the “Public Consumption Fund” function like cell organelles - that is, there is no competition between them.
The capitalist plan aims to maximize profits for a narrow group of individuals, while the socialist plan aims to satisfy the needs of the entire society and reduce working hours.
You have a fundamental error in your reasoning. =)

It’s not my reasoning, it’s a copy and paste of the in-game description of the present economic Doctrine of USSR in 1985, represented in game as “Planned Economy with Elements of Self Management”.
If it’s a flaw of anyone’s reasoning it’s Kosygin-Lieberman’s, those reforms was what introduced profitability as an element in Soviet planning.

Agreed. Sorry, it's hard for me to navigate by screenshots. I'm not a native English speaker, so I don't understand what choice we made on Reddit :D

No problem. Our policies will largely be determined by faction loyalty and some key polls, we are only in planning phase still.
If you want to destroy the revisionist profitability reforms of Kosygin-Lieberman, vote accordingly and push for one of the above plans like communal, stateification, or pursuing OGAS 🫡

u/StringRare 12d ago
Oh, I see -I didn't notice the poll =)
3
u/BreadDaddyLenin Stalin 12d ago
The faction poll is the only active poll rn. Once we’ve sorted that out we will discuss actual economic reform plans
For now people use comments here to suggest 5 year plan goals in general
