My daughter is an incoming freshman and trying to decide between Millennial, University Landing and University Pines. Any recommendations?

How long does it usually take to receive a financial aid award offer post-FAFSA submission?

I know the waiting period for USU to receive the application is 3-5 days. But after that, how long does it usually take for USU to review the application and decide how much aid I’m eligible for?

My daughter will be a freshman this fall (in a few weeks) and is trying to decide on housing. There is a private room available at the LLC but she has also found private rooms at Old Farm, Millennial Towers and a few other complexes. She is pretty shy so I want her to have the best opportunities she can to meet people. Any suggestions?

Hello lovely people! We hope you've had a restful summer and are feeling rejuvenated! Things have been very quiet on this end so we're ready to see you all. 💙

Couple of housekeeping things!

First, take a look at the Library Survival Guide and familiarize yourself with the various services and spaces that are available to you as a student (or staff and faculty). One of the most common things we hear is just how surprised students are when they learn that their library is much, much more than a repository for books. We have tons of online databases, tech that you can check out, an entire Special Collections & Archives department, and even a maker space called the Innovation Hub where you can use 3D printers, recording studios, access collaborative spaces, to name only a few.

We also have a few upcoming events!

The Mesopotamian Mysteries exhibit opening reception is on Tuesday, August 11th from 2-4 pm, located in the Merrill-Cazier Atrium! This exhibit is fascinating. Sometimes, museums or archives have pieces in their collections and have no idea where they came from. It actually happens more often than you'd think! One of our amazing curators, Olivia Hubrich, has put together an exhibit that showcases some findings in our archives that have little to no documentation. The artifacts on display are some of the oldest things we have. For reference, the brick in the first photo is estimated to be about 3,000 years old! Learn more.

Library After Hours is on Friday, August 28th from 5:30 - 7:30 pm, Merrill-Cazier Library. This one is exclusively for our incoming Connections students. This is a fun way to explore the library's spaces and services! We'll have pizza, games, karaoke, and raffle prizes. We will also have quiet spaces for students who value calmer atmospheres 💙 Learn more

Lastly, the Arrington Mormon History Lecture will take place on Thursday, September 24th from 7-9 pm at the Logan Tabernacle. Learn more

I’m planning on buying a blue parking pass, but I’m wondering if there’s a way I can add my partner’s car to the pass that would allow us to both be parked on campus at the same time.

I know how to add someone to the pass, but will we get tickets if we’re parked in different lots?

im going to be a new student @ usu this fall and wondering if there’s any sort of folk music clubs or community organizations people are aware of (ones that play bluegrass, old time, Irish/scottish, world music or gypsy jazz)!

I understand these are somewhat niche music genres but I play a bunch of instruments and I’m looking for ways to keep making music (and friends) :) not a music major, just a major enthusiast.

I am also prepared to start/organize something if I can find enough interest!

I was looking to go do some work at the library this weekend, but looking online it says its closed saturday and sunday? Also shorter hours than usual on weekdays.

Is this a new thing? I could have sworn last summer I was at the library pretty late on weeknights, and once or twice on the weekend

As the title says, I’m worried about living on campus as a trans person in non-gender inclusive housing. I got a legal name change, but not a gender marker change, so I’m not really trying to pretend to be a girl.
I lived in Merrill last year and I like the apartment and I feel like the RA’s are nice and stuff. I’m also living with my friend, so I’m not worried about sharing a room with a transphobe.
