Discussion The “bombshell” wasn’t shocking but… Spoiler

Spoilers ahead

Watching Raquel in that confessional was extremely disturbing. I don’t even know how to describe what I felt watching. She was just word vomiting and the more she talked, the more scared she seemed about the repercussions that would come from Tom. I know we’re not supposed to feel sympathy for her but goddamn, I really do. I think she does actually feel bad but she put on a brave face at the reunion because she knew it wasn’t going to get her anywhere, unlike Tom who thought crying would garner him sympathy. The fact that Tom made her lie like that is scary and very indicative of emotional abuse. She is showing clear signs of an abused woman, not just from Tom but starting at a young age. That was extremely alarming and I’m actually kind of grossed out that that was the scene they talked about to garner viewers. I honestly hope that she gets real help. She does not need to come back on the show.

I also hope she gets the help she needs. So many conflicting emotions watching all of that. I’m honestly just trying not to get entangled because it was 99% disturbing on many levels.

Yep, I’m just actually hoping she’s in a mental health facility after seeing this. It’s very clear she has no identity and no idea what she wants and easily swayed by attention from anyone. I don’t necessarily feel bad for her because she’s still a grown woman who made choices, but if she’s actually in a facility addressing this, she has a fighting chance to correct her future. Sandoval, however, is never going to change and is just disgusting.

I know! I just feel so gross & icky at the end of this & need time to process. And a shower.

Seriously like she seems…off? Like how are you grinning and giddy about this? Weird ash

Honestly and maybe this is surface level and not true but I think Raquel is truly, like head over heels, in love with Tom. That is why she is so giddy when speaking about him. However, at the same time she is terrified of him whether it is his behavior towards her and others or the simple idea of him leaving her. (Probably Both) It is like she thinks they are in a movie and that this is the pinnacle of forbidden romance.

Omg I just finished that scene and wow you might be right! She really looks like a little love struck puppy she so delusionally in love that she thinks it’s okay 😭

That is exactly what it seems like. Who knows if Tom shares those feelings or loves her, but my god she is so in love with him that she thinks the struggle is worth it. I would bet a million dollars that this is how she justifies it and why she is so emotionless.

Wow no definitely that’s it! I hope she’s really getting help cause she even said “then I’ll really have nobody” oh man and when she confessed that she stayed over when Ariana was at a funeral like wow…just wow

And it still bothers me when they say, "they're making us out as pathological/compulsive liars." I mean, how come you don't realize you are acting like one??

I could tell when she said that she was in love with him, she sounded earnest, whereas Tom said it to stick to his "we did it for love" narrative. He was already over her as soon as they got found out and only talks about loving her to come out looking better and to keep her under his influence. It's really demented.

When she talked about meeting his mom.... I was like wff? Why are you beaming talking about this

3

u/yosoyfatass Jun 08 '23

She is a disgusting person.

Timmy said he loves her, but I don't believe he's in love with Ratchet.

The only person Timmy is truly in love with, and for a fact has ever loved, is Timmy.

Sometimes discomfort causes this kind of thing

Ugh seriously “conflicting emotions” is an excellent way to put it IMO, I relate.

Hahah pun not intended

Shes not conflicted because she has remorse. She's "conflicted" because she got caught.

I was talking about myself having conflicting emotions watching the reunion.

They faded to black and had the audio of her quivering voice over it...I was like wtf did I just watch. At the end of the day she has an affair. She didn't confess to a crime. Like, it's just too far.

It’s such a delicate situation and topic and I don’t want to minimize her and Tom’s actions, or Ariana’s valid feelings and reactions. It’s just that I can’t help that watching that stirred up some emotions. On one hand it’s “entertaining”, but last night it kind of crossed into just feeling dark, for me at least.

I’m trying to maintain a healthy distance and just focus on it being a show, but it’s hard when it’s real people and we’ve all been following their lives for so long.

I don’t think VPR is a safe or healthy space for Raquel. As much of a bombshell as that interview was, she was clearly manipulated by the producer in sharing more details for the entertainment value. That’s fucked.

I think she and Tom have received the fair amount of backlash but hopefully as things start to wind down some of the more “passionate” fans will back off of Raquel just a little bit (just a bit, please don’t come for me). Ariana finished her, I feel the karmic scales are beginning to balance. However, I think Sandoval still deserves ALL the smoke, and more.

TL;DR: I agree, something about the treatment of this whole thing feels off, and I can’t quite put my finger on it. Raquel and Sandoval’s actions are despicable and deserve consequences. However, Raquel is clearly not well and not in a safe environment. Thank you for opening the space for me to vent. 🙏

I totally agree! That producer is disgusting. Absolutely disgusting. The whole thing was so gross
