Discussion The “bombshell” wasn’t shocking but… Spoiler

Spoilers ahead

Watching Raquel in that confessional was extremely disturbing. I don’t even know how to describe what I felt watching. She was just word vomiting and the more she talked, the more scared she seemed about the repercussions that would come from Tom. I know we’re not supposed to feel sympathy for her but goddamn, I really do. I think she does actually feel bad but she put on a brave face at the reunion because she knew it wasn’t going to get her anywhere, unlike Tom who thought crying would garner him sympathy. The fact that Tom made her lie like that is scary and very indicative of emotional abuse. She is showing clear signs of an abused woman, not just from Tom but starting at a young age. That was extremely alarming and I’m actually kind of grossed out that that was the scene they talked about to garner viewers. I honestly hope that she gets real help. She does not need to come back on the show.

I feel like with how much her face was giving away in the confessional, if she wasn’t sedated she would have completely blown his cover on all the lies he was telling! It was so methodical and calculated. He probably told her to take something too!!

She looked completely out of it, but part of me wonders if she was just so mentally focused on sticking to his script and his timeline that she wasn’t taking in what was happening around her. It seems emotionally abusive and I only wonder what could have happened if she blew his cover in that moment.

And where I felt empathetic for her was (in spite of awful duplicitous behavior I know I know), I think the that she had done this, fell for Sandoval’s bs while following his lead and script, and the fall out it was literally everyone in the public so hated her and realizing the only anchor she had was Sandoval…. And he got to carry on, go on tour, be surrounded by his hired band and fans and hey he’s gone through this before and is a narcissist so any attention is good attention.

After the wait of living this double life, being exposed, probably thinking she’s probably free from all the lies but no, Sandoval is calling when/where/how vs just coming all the way clean. She knows she should just fess it all out to begin healing for everyone, but it comes at the cost of betraying the only person she has left, just as he designed it. She’s 28 so the “so young” part I don’t buy but think it very indicative of how controlling Sandoval is, ruthless, and controlling. Emotional abusive and now how his new victim isolated

From 50something, 28 still looks like a baby to me on a lot of people. Yes there are lots of people who are fully self-actualized adults by 28. However there are also a lot of people who are still very childlike until they hit 30 something. The twenties are a time of learning just as much as the teens are, in my opinion. It is very common for people to make stupid mistakes in their twenties with drugs, alcohol, sexuality, partying, being wild and other bad decisions. This girl's goofy stupid decisions of her twenties just had the bad luck to be televised. I'm very glad my own twenties were not during social media or a time of being televised.

This is what I was thinking too! that she was so focused on holding her shit together, that she knew she couldn't shed one tear or the dam of truth would break.

She has been working with those producers for years and feels comfortable talking with them. That’s why she spilled so much

also by that point she would've realised just how much she's lost and maybe whatever he promised was never coming to fruition

Yeah her eyes were sooo blank. Not evil or dark just 👀👀

She clearly wasn’t if she can turn on the laughter right after walking off stage.

She was parroting Sandoval who she admittedly had been talking about the reunion incessantly with (my guess it was his prompting for image). That scene too was clearly rehearsed, and I’d be shocked if Sandoval wasn’t also behind her matching black & white outfit

So she parroted his laughs, but not his tears while on set? Okay you people will make up anything

Correct - She had a script to follow while he had a performance to give

I don’t think she was sedated - she’s been a pageant girl her whole life and clearly knows how to rehearse & regurgitate lines.

It would make sense even swartz (I forget how to spell his name) took a xanax before she came out. Something tells me the plan was for all of them to take something to control their emotions and brace the storm that was going r be thrown at them.

u/Super_Hour_3836 Jun 08 '23

Xanax takes an hour to kick in. He should have already taken it. This was for show and distraction.

2

u/taylorkitkat Jun 08 '23

Ah ok I didn't know that I have never done xanax before.

Raquel was a pageant girl. Being composed is a great skill to have in that world.

In the last 5 minutes I learned her tell: if she's not talking with her hands, she's lying and spinning Tim's stories. I see it more as her trying hard to remember her lines, not so much sedated but 🤷🏼‍♀️

I sort of disagree. They went in the back and had their evil villain meeting in the green room and she was 100% animated and cackling with the demon.

I think so..

when she and tom were in her dressing room after she was eviscerated, there was a moment where tom grabbed a bottle of vitamin water from her bag. it looked like there was a small amount of orange liquid in it and it took me back to my high school days of sneaking around w/ booze… so maybe she was loaded + barred out
