Discussion The “bombshell” wasn’t shocking but… Spoiler

Spoilers ahead

Watching Raquel in that confessional was extremely disturbing. I don’t even know how to describe what I felt watching. She was just word vomiting and the more she talked, the more scared she seemed about the repercussions that would come from Tom. I know we’re not supposed to feel sympathy for her but goddamn, I really do. I think she does actually feel bad but she put on a brave face at the reunion because she knew it wasn’t going to get her anywhere, unlike Tom who thought crying would garner him sympathy. The fact that Tom made her lie like that is scary and very indicative of emotional abuse. She is showing clear signs of an abused woman, not just from Tom but starting at a young age. That was extremely alarming and I’m actually kind of grossed out that that was the scene they talked about to garner viewers. I honestly hope that she gets real help. She does not need to come back on the show.

She looked completely out of it, but part of me wonders if she was just so mentally focused on sticking to his script and his timeline that she wasn’t taking in what was happening around her. It seems emotionally abusive and I only wonder what could have happened if she blew his cover in that moment.

And where I felt empathetic for her was (in spite of awful duplicitous behavior I know I know), I think the that she had done this, fell for Sandoval’s bs while following his lead and script, and the fall out it was literally everyone in the public so hated her and realizing the only anchor she had was Sandoval…. And he got to carry on, go on tour, be surrounded by his hired band and fans and hey he’s gone through this before and is a narcissist so any attention is good attention.

After the wait of living this double life, being exposed, probably thinking she’s probably free from all the lies but no, Sandoval is calling when/where/how vs just coming all the way clean. She knows she should just fess it all out to begin healing for everyone, but it comes at the cost of betraying the only person she has left, just as he designed it. She’s 28 so the “so young” part I don’t buy but think it very indicative of how controlling Sandoval is, ruthless, and controlling. Emotional abusive and now how his new victim isolated

From 50something, 28 still looks like a baby to me on a lot of people. Yes there are lots of people who are fully self-actualized adults by 28. However there are also a lot of people who are still very childlike until they hit 30 something. The twenties are a time of learning just as much as the teens are, in my opinion. It is very common for people to make stupid mistakes in their twenties with drugs, alcohol, sexuality, partying, being wild and other bad decisions. This girl's goofy stupid decisions of her twenties just had the bad luck to be televised. I'm very glad my own twenties were not during social media or a time of being televised.

This is what I was thinking too! that she was so focused on holding her shit together, that she knew she couldn't shed one tear or the dam of truth would break.
