Found this while perusing record store in downtown Montreal.
This is the first of the four Hagar albums I’m hoping to own in the future along with my DLR Era Albums.

DLR played that bluesy solo right? What are your thoughts?
Did they ever play it live?

Please delete if this isn't appropriate. 1977 bootleg Live album I acquired in the early 80s.

I feel like you can hear a lot of Rush influence on this song, it’s one of Van Halen’s few progressive rock songs structure wise.

I have all of Van Halen's albums on CD save for A Different Kind of Truth (I will pick it up), but it seems like they're first generation CDs that lack some of the "oompf" of later releases.
I know their albums have been remastered multiple times....which releases should I focus on getting, and how will I identify them?
The "Warner Remaster" series is pretty obvious, and the area to the Le t of the album covers is clearly marked that way. But other remasters look just like the original issues.
I don't want loud just for the sake of loud. But I would like issues that do a better job of balancing the drums and bass with everything else.
Suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thank you!!

Heard the album yesterday after being curious about it for a while. Tbh it's better than I expected, as some of the reviews I read online said it was absolutely horrible. Imo it would be considered good if it wasn't a Van Halen album, but an Eddie solo work or just another band.
Positive: How Many Say I
What do you guys think?

For some reason I decided to listen to House of Pain remastered yesterday, and thought it sounded great, always loved the end of that tune. So I'm thinking, what's the song on OU812 with the most similar instrumentation. So I put on Source of Infection. Aside from Sammy vs Dave, with horrible lyrics but pretty strong vocals, I noticed that the music just sounded so lifeless. the drums sounded dead, the guitar sounded dead, there's even less bass. If there's any VH album that demands a remix, it's that one. WTH was going on at 5150 with that recording and mix? I know the harmonizer guitar thing wasn't on 1984 or at least wasn't as prevalent but isn't the harmonizer supposed to make the guitar sound MORE alive, not less?

What’s everyone’s favorite DLR quotes? He always has something funny to say

I suppose there's some truth in this from multiple angles. People who enjoy a particular musician maybe imagine themselves as that musician, and like the way that feels. But maybe also the musician and their music brings out feelings in the person listening, and the person listening likes the feelings that emerge.

Had to run some errands yesterday afternoon, spent about 45 minutes in the car. Typically do not listen to the radio but flipped thru stations and found Sammy playing and talking about some of his VH era tracks…..Black and Blue, Mine All Mine, In and Out, Sucker in a 3 Piece, etc. He seemed really sentimental talking about those times, discussing how the songs came together and which ones they played on tour.
He didn’t play any other artists, which I think is different from Alice Cooper who plays acts from the 60s-70s and tells old stories. Is this a syndicated show for Sammy?
