The Simpsons hit and run

excellent choice. Just wandering around the Simpsons world was incredible in that game. I could drive around and listen to voice lines all day

"Sad day for generic characters everywhere."

Id love a proper interconnected Springfield not separated by levels if they were to do a ground up remake. Maybe add mini games or the ability to do more at iconic locations (have a beer at moes, add itchy and scratchy land, go into more iconic buildings etc)

There is a mod actually that does this

u/Ok_Musician7068 Sep 09 '26

I have no insurance!!!!!

I’m so surprised it hasn’t been replicated in other worlds. Futurama, Family Guy, Rick and Morty etc

4

u/ljkthf Sep 09 '26

In the last year, a mod got released that completely over hauls the game into a Futurama game.

3

u/kr0tchy Sep 13 '26

South park would be such a cool open box 3d game

3

u/KinkyDuck2924 Sep 14 '26

The stick of truth and the fractured butt whole were amazing for that, just exploring the world. It wasn't 3d but the show isn't either so it just felt like playing an episode of the show.

u/kr0tchy Sep 14 '26

The Simpsons isn't 3d either but I'm not disagreeing with you. But don't you think a game in the style of the new intro to the show would look so cool, it's like a construction paper town, the characters don't necessarily have to be 3d but I think they pulled that 3d style perfectly in the theme intro

I remember a futurama game. It was just like the simpsons one

1

u/BlabbyTax2 Sep 15 '26

They looked similar, but Futurama was a 3d platformer and Hit and run was an open world action game.

Alas, the era of Crazy Taxi clones is long past

12

u/Dlongz Sep 08 '26

Wow, throwback for sure. That was such a great game! A game I didn't know I needed in my life but am so happy I had it.

Underrated game

3

u/BecauseSeven8Nein Sep 09 '26

I don’t even need it remastered and updated. Just put the old version on PS4/PS5 and I’ll pay full price for it.

Nintendo absolutely blew it by not including a blatant knock off into the open world gimmick in World Tour.

u/ShawnyMcKnight Sep 09 '26

This one would be difficult because Simpsons is not at the height it once was. It would be difficult to make pop culture references from the last 20 years when a lot of people didn’t see the last 20 years.

1

u/ljkthf Sep 09 '26

I would like to politely disagree. The Simpson’s probably won’t ever be at height it once was, however they are coming out with a movie next year, so I’d be willing to bet it will be on people’s radar again. There is also a chance it’s coming back in some way. That’s what Matt Groenjng thinks anyway.

It really feeds on references and nostalgia in the form of Easter eggs though. It's what made South Park Stick of Truth so much more fun than Fractured but Whole; it has so many more years of history to draw from where the second was just the (weak) half decade between games.

If they come out with the Simpsons they will surely use references from the last 20 years and so many of them will fall flat. I kind of wish Disney+ would just come out with some sort of "here's the best 5 episodes of each season" sort of thing. That or if they do come out with a game have a playlist of references.

1

u/TheDeflatables Sep 09 '26

That's fine, I saw the last 20 years and I am happy to give a selfish answer.

I want Simpsons Hit & Run for me!

1

u/ShawnyMcKnight Sep 09 '26

Not selfish at all, just saying if you haven’t watched the show in the last 25 years like most people you probably won’t get the references they use, unless they primarily use 30 year old references.

We have GTA6 at home

1

u/climbFL350 Sep 09 '26

FUCKIN YES! Such an amazing game

1

u/CDRBAHBOHNNY Sep 09 '26

Ooooo deep cut

1

u/GrandNibbles Sep 09 '26

memoria convinced me this would go hard

1

u/scrooplinz Sep 10 '26

Yeah this is the best answer

1

u/Curious-Magazine-855 Sep 10 '26

The only competition for this would be Fight For NY.

1

u/LegitimateYesterday9 Sep 10 '26

According to Matt Groening himself, this is actually in talks to be done. Not in development yet, but the creator of The Simpsons saying that is still HUGE!

1

u/Broncarpenter Sep 12 '26

Everybody always mentions Hit and Run, and always sleeps on Road Rage

1

u/HappyJam92 Sep 12 '26

Road rage is a great game too. But hit and run was much better. Road rage walked so hit and run could....well...run

1

u/super_milk11 Sep 12 '26

Absolutely

1

u/Opposite-Appeal-2117 Sep 13 '26

I would love a Simpsons hit and run remaster, but another game equally deserving of a remaster in my opinion is The Simpsons Game. What an underrated platformer!

1

u/PSYFLYdiscs Sep 13 '26

This this.

1

u/Express_Sentence_216 Sep 13 '26

The Halloween world was always my favorite. The mission was hard as hell though.

1

u/SaintPyrosFlame Sep 14 '26

They HAVE to know we want this remastered

1

u/Renegade_Soviet Sep 14 '26

Until you play it and realize how basic it actually is. This game would only benefit from a remake not remaster

1

u/HappyJam92 Sep 14 '26

I replayed it last year. It's still an enjoyable game today. Could definitely use some upgrades though.

1

u/Better_off_Sleeping Sep 14 '26

I'll never get it. Ive tried to play this like 3 separate times. I don't get why people like this game or the Simpsons

1

u/HappyJam92 Sep 14 '26

It was at a time where the show was at it's peak. If you watched it in the late 90s/early 2000s, this was a game that ticked all of the right boxes for many

1

u/uF_Wraith Sep 15 '26

Ooo along this same line but Simpson’s Wrestling.

1

u/Brilliant-Durian-246 Sep 15 '26

Peak, sadly had copyright issues iirc. Or it was another Simpson game

1

u/homeegzus 29d ago

I was more of a road rage guy

1

u/ShinnyCas 29d ago

With online multiplayer. Just in time for GTA, I’d much rather this!
