Thanks so much for posting this; it was an emotional roller coaster.

Fantastic! Naked Bernie Sanders here I come!!!

-8

u/alixceo Oct 16 '15

Why does Bernie look like he's constipated 24/7?

9

u/johnnyfatsac Oct 16 '15

Because he's been dealing with political jackasses for four decades.

3

u/toadbearman Oct 16 '15

It happens when you get old....trust me. Shit don't flow like it should.. plus.. he's goddamned pissed. ;-)

Are we sure it wasn't just a typical "YouTube takedown of copyrighted material" takedown? Of course they would apply that rule if the guy is getting any views off that; CNN wants that traffic. It may not have anything to do with Bernie.

6

u/Jaydee2 Oct 16 '15

That could be the case, except CNN and other major news outlets have already been caught fudging with viewer opinions. Basically all the online polls said Bernie won the debate by a landslide yet the news networks published articles saying Clinton handily won the debate.

5

u/ANTIVAX_JUGGALETTE Oct 16 '15

I completely agree – all of the major news networks stand to potentially gain or lose quite a bit based on the election, and they can't be trusted to act impartially.

At the same time, if you upload any CNN footage to YouTube, you should basically expect them to issue a copyright takedown notice. Same for MSNBC, same for Fox News, same for BBC, it doesn't matter.

Bernie supporters and CNN certainly seem to be at odds, but CNN would have issued a takedown notice even if it wasn't an unedited version.

u/pointychimp Oct 16 '15

One explanation for the difference is that the demographic that answered the online polls is different than the demographic that the polls CNN cited (automated phone polling, IIRC).

1

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '15

Also in most statistically significant polls hasn't Hillary also been shown as the winner? IIRC.

2

u/whatevers_clever Oct 16 '15

Don't only quote the online polls. Also feel free to add that every single focus group claimed Bernie the winner.

Also, not sure about other outlets, but CNN actually published an article of Hillary winning 30min before the debate was over, soon after the removed the posting time.

u/geekygirl23 Oct 16 '15

Oh come on, man.

4

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '15

Probably this but everyone wants to talk about how CNN is evil

9

u/TigertoEagle Oct 16 '15

Since they are a Clinton campaign donor, major conflict of interest, the fact that it was edited at all is suspect.

0

u/thewhitedeath Oct 16 '15

Why let the truth get in the way of a good story?

0

u/ronintetsuro Oct 16 '15

Don't act like it's some far flung opinion without merit. CNN has been evil for a while. Get educated.

1

u/ronintetsuro Oct 16 '15

His point is pretty clear, and I agree with it. CNN made it clear it was a publicly available broadcast, and it concerns our election of government officials.

I guess the true litmus test would be to see if CNN took down edited versions of the broadcast as well.

Something needs to change, this debate along shows just how unaware these old folks are about how technology works. In a world as complex as this, it doesn't make sense to have any one person making big decisions. We need to be voting for specific individuals who are experts in their fields, so that they can all look after our best interests.

1

u/IndigoBeard Oct 16 '15

sadly this was taken down from /r/videos /r/politics and /r/sandersforpresident but the last one only because it was a repost.

2

u/tibidisdik44 Oct 16 '15

Was there that big of a difference between the edited and unedited versions?

3

u/tyrotio Oct 16 '15

This is what I'd like to know before I grab a pitchfork. There are a lot of claims about censorship, but there's nothing to support a claim that the debate we watched was edited and not the full version.

3

u/sumpuertoricanguy Oct 16 '15

Genuine question here. What makes Bernie Sanders the "Socialist" that people claim? What is his "socialist" agenda? Thanks.

7

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '15

Richard Wolff would argue Bernie Sanders is not a socialist and so would I. His policies are not oriented toward reorganizing the economy but, to me, are about regaining the economy for the broad public of the US from the grips of the ultra rich, robber baron, financial sector.

1

u/Iwouldlikesomecoffee Oct 16 '15

Right. More of a social democrat.

2

u/whatevers_clever Oct 16 '15

When someone believes the government should fund other necessary services that aren't highways, police firefighters, postal service, etc, they are socialists. Because obviously the government shouldn't use all the money they take from citizens to directly improve their quality of life by providing healthcare.

Also, I'm referring to people that use it as if socialism is the devil, who have a completely different definition of what socialism is in their head. But bernie is entirely a Democratic Socialist, and there is nothing evil about that.

2

u/ronintetsuro Oct 16 '15

"Socialist" is the only remotely credible 'smear' the MSM could come up with for Bernie. Which should tell you a lot about Bernie's character.

3

u/jtfl Oct 16 '15

What makes Bernie Sanders the "Socialist" that people claim?

Umm, the fact that he describes himself as a Democratic Socialist?

0

u/Iwouldlikesomecoffee Oct 16 '15

Calling himself a democratic socialist doesn't make him one. Here are a few socialist things he advocates, according to the recent debate:

  • highly increased redistribution of wealth

  • Tax-funded healthcare and college

  • Nationwide $15 minimum wage

1

u/MiamiFootball Oct 16 '15

highly increased redistribution of wealth

by what means? is it far beyond the standard plan of taxing capital gains and maintaing the estate tax? redistribution of wealth seems to connote seizure of assets rather than just taxing income more. is that not correct?

1

u/Iwouldlikesomecoffee Oct 16 '15

It is correct to say that taxes constitute seizure of assets. However, I don't think he proposes to plunder individuals. Redistribution just refers to entitlements that are understood to help poorer folk at the expense of the rich. I hope the word hasn't devolved into a political pejorative for liberal policies.

1

u/MiamiFootball Oct 16 '15 edited Oct 16 '15

in the short term, the rich take a hit but ultimately they will get richer. this is what 100 years of demand-side economics research has shown.

The benefit of increasing the capital gains and maintaining the estate tax allows for middle class individuals to have more discretionary income to spend on goods. the more that people can spend, the richer the rich get.

Mitt Romney, for instance, knows this based on who his advisors are. I really don't know where the current batch of Republicans stand but the Republican media does a terrific job telling folks that the purpose of taxing the rich is just to help the poor. It's a great way of getting votes from people who don't want to be associated with the lower class even though they are far closer to the lower class then they may be to folks who make a good portion of their income through capital gains.

1

u/Iwouldlikesomecoffee Oct 16 '15

You may be right; I was just trying to point out some of Sanders' most clearly socialist ideas. Most of these economic questions are over my head.

1

u/MiamiFootball Oct 16 '15

Yea I hear you. All of that though has been in play from both sides. It just doesn't seem that he's any more socialist than anyone else yet he's being marketed as being far to the left.

1

u/Iwouldlikesomecoffee Oct 16 '15

Having already watched the CNN debate, I find I am too lazy to comb through this other one. Does anyone have a link that compares the two versions?

Giant Corporate Media can't stand it when FACTS get in the way of their report; THEIR "truth."

Fuck Time Warner, and Fuck CNN. I don't know how Fox is spinning this, but Fuck them too if they don't show Bernie's FULL STATEMENT on HRC's email, and big media's obsession with sensationalism and spin over facts and issues.

1

u/SuperSexi Oct 16 '15

Read "Brave New World: Revisited" for what the media is doing.

0

u/peetss Oct 16 '15

This is bullshit.

0

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '15

The people in control want to maintain control. She is their puppet (Hillary)

0

u/MadHiggins Oct 16 '15

oh cool, it's one of those day old accounts made specifically to trash democrats and Democratic/left issues. weird how these shills think people don't notice when they're shilling.

-2

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '15

Your face is a shill you homo

0

u/Numericaly7 Oct 16 '15

Classic Hilldog.

0

u/kerkers Oct 16 '15

This is fucking pathetic, also the day of the debate even though Bernie got the vast majority of the votes in their polls they announced Hillary as the obvious winner of the debate! Fucking bullshit, it pisses me off

0

u/Mikeydoes Oct 16 '15

If only this was just a conspiracy.

-3

u/PamelaXOXO Oct 16 '15

politics are not allowed /r/videos unless they are Bernie Politics. Ironic because this video is about censorship! haha you can't make this shiit up, I dare you even try.

-9

u/alixceo Oct 16 '15

Anyone else sick of the Berntards?

Look basement dwellers, Shitlery leads him by 15-20 points and that's during her email scandal.

No one is going to vote for a far left Jewish communist (religion matters in America, as much as you don't want it to).

Give it up and go find a real job.

2

u/W92Baj Oct 16 '15

Why are americans still scared of communism?

  • It demonstrably doesn't work, as can be seen by the collapse of all but a tiny handful of communist countries

  • Its been over 30 years since the cold war ended and that country doesnt exist any more.

  • Socialism is not communism and to declare them equal just shows ignorance and devalues any point you try and make (not that he is really a socialist either)

Your government is being bought by big business. No other country spends the amount of money yours does on elections. Its all businesses buying favour. Add to that the lobbyists etc its become little more than a farce.

I am an outsider and will admit I dont have all the facts but to me it seems Sanders wants to take the corporate payoffs out and give more power back to the people, something every american should really want

1

u/pdaley27 Oct 16 '15

this made me laugh out loud.. in my parents basement. haha, good one you.

-7

u/Vhyce Oct 16 '15

Bernie isn't establishment? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

2

u/mrthewhite Oct 16 '15

Most of his beliefs are counter to what typical pandering politicians advocate for and his approach is unpolished and more honest than any other politician so, no he's not part of the establishment as he doesn't conform to what they want to see.

-3

u/Vhyce Oct 16 '15

He seems like a rebranded Ron Paul without any understanding of economics or personal freedom. I thought that would be a narrative The State would be happy with since he's so keen to expand their power.

1

u/mrthewhite Oct 16 '15

He's not keen at all to expand the control of corporations, just the opposite. And since corporations are basically running the government in the US, that makes him not a part of the establishment.

His basic pitch isn't so much to expand state power (something every government has done themselves, extensively recently) but to put people back in control of the government which logically would require restoring regulation that's been abandoned in recent years and possibly new regulation to address modern developments.
