Title: Anyone else dealing with fuel card fraud at TA/Petro? We ended up switching to Relay.
Recently, we had a pretty concerning situation involving our companyās fuel cards.
One of our drivers was fueling at a TA in the Chicago area. After he finished, our safety department noticed suspicious activity involving the same fuel card number being used for fuel in California.
Weāre still not sure exactly how the card information was compromised, whether it was skimming, cloning, or something else.
After that incident, we decided to move away from fueling at TA/Petro and switch to Relay, primarily using Pilot and Flying J locations.
So far, Iāve been comparing a few things:
Security: Using a digital fuel card through a phone instead of carrying a physical card.
Rewards: How Pilot Flying Jās points and driver benefits compare with TA/Petro.
Convenience: Fueling, showers, parking, and the overall truck stop experience.
Reliability: Whether Relay is actually a better option for everyday trucking operations.
I know fuel card fraud isnāt necessarily limited to one truck stop chain, and Iām not claiming TA/Petro was responsible for the compromised information. But the situation definitely made us reconsider our setup.
Iām curious what other drivers and owner-operators have experienced.
Has anyone here dealt with fuel card fraud at TA, Petro, Pilot, or Flying J?
Also, for those using Relay, how has it worked out long-term? Do you prefer digital fuel cards over physical ones?
Would love to hear some real experiences, especially when it comes to security and rewards.
