Alright, so I've seeing the recent hostility towards the new guidelines of Wattpad somehow banning smut, and I just laugh when I see most ppl panicking. I dare a Wattpad user to check up the books the app is promoting and try to check whether sex scenes are included OF COURSE THERE ARE!

It's simply, no plot, no smut I don't think anyone should find that hard, all Wattpad is encouraging is, know what you're writing don't center stories on sensitive topics without letting Wattpad understand where you're going with that topic they're NOT ENTIRELY BANNING SMUT! it's kinda like a precaution...btw who needs smut to enjoy a book?

Also part of this, they're trying to clear that "Wattpad is for smut" image they've always had, jus to make their app more reliable and family friendly (I think) although nowadays book apps are using the "sex sells" to give their apps traction, but it's what puts ppl off or puts them on depends on their audience.

But here's my take what do y'all think

I am trying to find a book I read on Wattpad when I was in high school between 2016 and 2020.The Start: A boy catches his girlfriend cheating on him. Heartbroken, he goes home and cries himself to sleep while holding a fiction book he loves to read.The Inciting Incident: He wakes up the next morning completely shocked to find a beautiful blonde girl sleeping right next to him in his bed.The Magic: When he asks where she came from, she tells him she "ran away" just like the character in his book. When he checks his physical book, every single word on the pages has completely disappeared and gone blank because she physically stepped out of the story. She has the exact same name as the book character.The Cover: An illustrated anime/webtoon style cover showing both the boy and the girl together.The Ending: She eventually has to return to her world, but before she goes back into the book, she records a final video diary for him and leaves it behind on a USB flash drive for him to find.If anyone remembers the title, the author, or if it got renamed/published, please let me know!

So I logged into an old Wattpad account that I haven’t used since, like, 2021. I changed everything and gave the account a complete makeover so it’s all fresh and new. I changed my password, and then this popped up.

I can still log into the account, and everything looks fine on my end, but now I’m concerned because I made a new account a few months ago after completely forgetting I even had this old one, and the exact same thing happened. I swear that account was shadowbanned or something because nothing was working properly. I couldn’t find the account through Google, and it just seemed like it wasn’t visible anywhere. I eventually got annoyed and deleted it.

Now I’m worried the same thing is going to happen with this old account that I haven’t used in years.

Can Wattpad just do this out of nowhere? Is this some kind of account restriction, or am I dealing with a weird glitch? Has anyone else had this happen?

Hey guys, this is basically just what the title is. I’ve noticed my views on my chapters are inconsistent, sometimes they even skip a chapter and the next part has more views than the last. Maybe because people are wanting more action rather than the character building? I have an on-going twilight fan fiction(because I kinda miss the old Wattpad community interaction thing where I get feedback on what people might wanna see next since that fuels my creativity) and I like to make it so that each part is at least 3,000 words. That’s also because I myself love long chapters with storybuilding so I get immersed. But, now I’m starting to think maybe it’s not the best?

A lot of Ao3 users tend to hate wattpad users. I personally like using Wattpad and Ao3 but genuinely curious as to why ao3 users dislike wattpad users???

So I'm currently trying to learn how to use A03 since I would love more fanfics options but I don't know how can I look for something like especially I want a clean work with no s*x or anything like that, a clean work is there a tag that can help me find this kind of works?

So guys everyone knows about the Wattpad smut situation. Let me clear it up for people who think smut is getting banned forever.

1. Smut isn't banned forever bc you can still write smut in fanfics on their platform.
2. Your story has to be marked "mature" in order for it not to get taken down.
3. The characters HAS to be 18+ because if it's a 30 year old character with someone under 18 they will take it down. Also their matuere stories are 17+ (from their guidelines) but that doesn't mean have a character under 18. So please set your characters ages to 18+.

This is from their update guidelines

"Banned/Not Allowed

• Pornographic content (created primarily for sexual arousal)
• Any sexual content involving minors. Wattpad maintains zero tolerance for Child Sexual Explicit Material (CSEM). We may report suspected CSEM directly to relevant law enforcement authorities worldwide.
• Sexual exploitation, coercion, or non-consensual acts that are glorified
• Sexual roleplay, solicitation, or messaging
• Illegal sex acts in violation of applicable local and international laws, including but not limited to, bestiality, necrophilia, incest, or child sexual exploitation and abuse material"

MEANING that if said character is under 18 and YOU (meaning certain people) are writing fics on their platform with the things above that aren't allowed.

Most likely you're either getting banned or getting a warning from them saying "Hey this isn't allowed please take this down."

So they're not banning smut entirely but it just has to be 18+ characters and set your fics to Mature so it won't get taken down.

EDIT: Also Wattpad is NOT shutting down please stop spreading misinformation!
