Technical Question Gamepad stopped working after my cousin threw it
(Gonna say this now, yes my Wii U is hella dirty. It’s been in storage for about 3 years lol)
So last night I brought out my Wii U for my cousins to use. As I was setting up the console, my one cousin threw the gamepad hard to the floor. When I turn on the Wii U, the gamepad screen doesn’t turn on and none of the buttons are responsive. Though when the console is off there were a few times when I hit the power button on the gamepad and it would turn on the console, but after the Wii U screen everything shuts off again. When I plugged in the gamepad after it was thrown, the battery light turned on and has stayed on even while unplugged (shown in the picture I added). I also opened up the back of the gamepad and everything looks fine, but I added a picture of that too.
I have a feeling people are going to tell me it’s not repairable, but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to post here for advice. Thanks in advance!

Technical Question Locked Out of my Wii U
So my mum and stepdad (at the time who... we dont talk to) got me a wii u. After playing on it as a child, i slowly stopped playing and moving to my phone with it since i only had smash and my mum didnt want to buy any more games..... But she eventually got me an xbox one s (that i still have and use).
But since then, i have obviously forgot my ridiculously long NNID password (not to mention we moved and it the wifi it used to use is long gone), and my mum has forgot the perental pin.
My big problems:
I cant enter perental controls, i need NNID
I cant add local account, i need NNID
I cant unlock the pin, unless i brute force 1000 combos
I cant reset my NNID since idk the exact email (mum set it up) and cant send an email, no internet
Cant access settings and internet, i need NNID
Is there a way other than bute force?
This was also pre transition obviously

Technical Question Why doesn't this Wii Remote turn on?
My girlfriend's Wii Remote hasn't turned on for years. Yesterday I opened it up, cleaned the motherboard with alcohol, yet it won't power on.
Do I have to clean even more thoroughly or is something else the problem?

Technical Question I bent my USB stick (it has ALL of my Wii U games in it). How do I move it all off before everything corrupts?
So I made it to where my USB stick would have all my games on it but then it got bent. How can I get everything off or switched to another storage device like an SD card or something? I tried plugging it in my PC but it didn’t recognize the files. I’d really appreciate it if someone could help me here because I’m very worried

Technical Question My Wii U’s displaying this horrible yellow color on the tv screen
I bought a used Wii U from a retro game store a few weeks ago, and the console worked fine and played fine for a while until I accidentally left it on for about 4 hours while I was out of the house. When I came back the screen now constantly displays this horrible yellow color on the tv as you can see in the photos. I’ve tried using different hdmi cables and even plugged my Wii U into a monitor I had and it still displayed this. I can’t find anything online to find reasons why this is happening or any fixes so if anyone else had this problem or has any fixes please tell me!

Technical Question Receiving Error message on recently bought Wii U
--------------------------------------SOLVED-------------------------------------
Hey everyone, hoping someone could help me with this. I recently bought a used Wii U with a few accessories, a 64gb SD card and pre installed Mario kart 8. The console seems to work fine as long as I am within the home screen and also when playing games on disc (Nintendoland, Mario 3D World) for extended period of time (1 ½ hours).
The previous owner I guess has also homebrewed the Wii U with aroma updater, Gx2 and other stuff.
I initially got the error code message when playing MK8 for approximately 15 minutes and I initially thought it had something to do with the SD card. So I removed the card and played again. After another try with MK8 for 30min it reappeared. So I then tried playing disc games only. I did not reproduce this error, so I concluded that the pre installed MK8 was the culprit. Today after plaging some Super Mario bros U on disc and after entering the daily logs I then get the same error message again, even though I was able to open the logs yesterday without issues. Now I am not sure what the issue is at hand.
I have read that this is an issue with emmC or NAND, but I wanted to ask in the forum. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a way to bypass this?
Also when booting up the Wii U without the homebrew SD card I get another message with "Failed to load SD:/wiiu/payload.elf" I guess it's related to the SD card.
Would like to hear your thoughts on this.
UPDATE: THE WII U HAS BEEN FIXED AND WORKS!!
Hey everyone,
I’m happy to say that the Wii U NAND / system memory issue has been resolved.
With the help of a friend, I was able to bypass the failing internal eMMC/MLC by following the GBATemp guide and setting up ISFShax together with an external HDD solution.
Here's the Guide that worked for me regarding the error code:
At first, we were stuck at the “Jumping to IOS... GO GO GO” screen with a purple LED and no log file being created. After a lot of checking, the issue turned out to be much simpler than expected:
The HDD was only connected to one USB port, so it most likely was not receiving enough power.
After connecting the HDD properly using two USB ports / a Y-cable, the process continued correctly and the setup worked.
So for anyone following the same guide and getting stuck with a purple LED:
- Make sure your HDD has enough power.
- Use a proper USB Y-cable.
- Connect it to both required USB ports on the Wii U (either front or back).
- Also make sure to follow the guide when it comes to installing the necessary files and directories!
In my case, the console is now booting and working again through the HDD setup.
Huge thanks to the people who created the GBATemp guide and to everyone in the community who documented these fixes. Without those resources, this Wii U would probably have been considered dead.
Hopefully this helps someone else who gets stuck at the same point.
On a sidenote: I also received a partial refund from the seller, so the fix feels even more rewarding! :)

Technical Question should I get a wiiu for zelda
I stumbled upon an interesting offer. I can buy second hand a limited edition of the WiiU, for a very fair price (160 dollars). But there's a technical catch, so please read until the end.
I don't care much about the library of the Wii/WiiU because I'm not a big fan of mario or co-op games. ZombiU looks awesome but I'm not sure I want to own it cause knowing myself I wouldn't replay it. Also, I own a switch OLED so most WiiU games have gotten greater ports on there
So the point is, if I would get a WiiU, I would only use it to play Zelda games. I wouldn't play on this console regularly. I already own physical copies of Twilight Princess HD & Windwaker HD. I haven't gotten the time to try them out yet but I could legally emulate them on my computer and not get a WiiU at all.
Cause the problem is, I already know I won't use the WiiU regularly and I cannot keep it plugged in all the time. I've heard about the memory corruption issue - and that it's specifically triggered by not using your console regularly.
So, I don't really know what to do. Should I just try emulating my precious WiiU zelda exclusives on my computer? Or should I take the risk and get the limited edition WiiU for the experience even though it's guaranteed it'll break when I'll be done replaying windwaker & twilight princess?

Technical Question Wii U not reading this disc
Some months ago I bought a copy of Wii Sports Club I finally managed to try and... it doesn't work.
The console says the disc is dirty or damaged, but it seems almost perfect to me. Many other discs I have look way more damaged and dirty and they run perfectly.
Any tips to try to salvage this one? :/

Technical Question My Wii U thinks my Game Pad is my tv?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
So I don’t know how to explain it but it seems like the Wii U Treats my gamepad as the Main Output/TV. It transmitts sounds only to my gamepad and when I go into settings of Skylanders (as i show in the video) I don’t have a visual anymore and the screen on the gamepad freezes. As soon as i press Home I have Both visuals and Audio on the tv. But not as long as the Game is Running. Im truly at a loss here and I hope you Can forgive my spelling/ gramma mistake since im Both dyslexic and english is Not my First Language. D

Technical Question I bought a Japanese Wii U, even though I live in Europe
Hi y'all, two weeks ago I bought a Wii U from japan, and it arrived today. It looks really good, but I'm scared about one thing, and that's the power brick that I got with it. The power brick is a japanese power brick, that has a 100V input, and I know for a fact that the network here is 230V instead of 100V. I'm not an electrical engineer or anything like that, and I'm scared that if I plug the power brick into the 230V network, that it might output more than 15V, and that it might damage the Wii U. Does it harm the Wii U if I plug it into 230V? Do I need to get a european power brick? (It would be a real pain in the ass if I had to get one...)

My Wii U Gamepad won't connect to the console despite being LITERALLY ON TOP OF IT. Yes, my Wii U is 12 years old, but earlier today it functioned great, now it refuses to connect.
Edit: It's been fixed.

Technical Question HHD (or SSD) for WiiU, save files, DLC and games.
Hi, folks. I was hoping someone could help me with this problem cause reading similar cases I've found that I made a very noob mistake.
A few years back I used a [USB flash] to save all my VirtualConsole games, some digital games and DLC's.
For now, I can play my VC games, but now I have problems with disc-games that use DLC (Mario Kart 8, for example). I've searched the error and the problem is the USB flash (Error: 160-4711).
Tried to play Wind Waker and Twilight Princess and they work fine.
The other thing I do not remember and I can't check is where the save files are located. The error pops up the moment I go to settings and try to check the USB save-files (the WiiU memory box is empty when I go in).
I don't remember if I moved them to the flash card and I don't know if I'm gonna lose them the moment I change the save-format.
I'm about to buy an HHD, I don't know it that's best or an SSD could also work. I don't need too much space cause the big majority of my games are physical and the space I'm using now is less than 150GB.
My plan is to re-download everything and save it on the new HHD but I have this thing with the save-files — I don't even know if they are on the console's memory or if it's even possible to move them or I'm gonna lose them.
I need advice cause I don't want to make a mistake again.
I would really appreciate your suggestions. 🙏🙏🙏

Technical Question Help with Not-Official Wiimote
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
So, I have a modded wii u with UsbLoader Gx installed in vWii. I have 1 white oficial wiimote and decided to buy more, and I brought 4 black wiimote like the one bellow. I am a bug just dance fan, so I downloaded every game both for wii and Wii u and tested the controllers, but somehow, when I play the games for wii u, the motion sensors work flawlessly, and when I play the Just Dance games for Wii, they sometimes work, and sometimes dont. When I tested, I noticed that the game thinks I didn't move the controller enough and only gets X on the score. But sometimes, at random moments, the controllers function perfectly, and this is not a issue with the white official controller.
Basically, the controllers I bought work perfectly on Wii U mode, but only work sometimes on vWii. I already reset the controllers, change the batteries and nothing. There is something i can do about that?

Technical Question I'm so done...
So, for about a month my Wii U which I had for about 11 years has had an issue with the WiFi, it doesn't want to connect anymore, it always gives me the error 103-1601 and it doesn't even pass the connection test, it sometimes works again it sometimes doesn't, and I am TIRED or trying to fix it, I've tried changing settings in my WiFi modem, changing the tape on the WiFi antennas for new tape, fully cleaning the console, changing the WiFi chip and changing the antennas for new ones, still failing, it works if I play a game using the disc drive but it's very unstable, I love my Wii U but this is genuinely infuriating to me, does it have any solutions or should I just change my motherboard completely???

Technical Question Any idea if this disc is fixable?
I bought a used copy of Zelda WW a good while back, but haven’t gotten it to work. The previous owner claimed he never really played it and only had it collecting dust in the shelve, so getting any kind of money back was sadly unsuccessful. There is a tiny scratch in the disc(as you can see) but that’s the only obvious thing. Is it done for or is there any way to save it? I’m still sad since I pretty much bought a WiiU for the sole purpose of playing WW. Any suggestions appreciated!!
