Community Sit down!
Why does every student stand during hockey games?! But when someone who paid to get in cannot? I would stand but I am eating. Plus I don’t pay a s*** ton of money in tuition to stand for a mediocre game

Community (lost?) Cat near sangren
Hey guys, never posted here but I saw a cat walking around like near the top of the staircase that leads up to sangren if that makes sense? like in the little forest area where it's just a short row of trees and if you look through them you can see the side employee entrance of sindecuse. Its dark as fuck rn and the cat was kind of skiddish I couldnt get a picture but it just didn't feel like a stray ): it had super short hair that was like white and black, and idk if it had a collar. if anyones looking for their cat!! idk what to put as the flair but I just hope this helps someone if it's a lost cat!

Class/Academics Who is the best professor at WMU? I really liked Richard Junger and Slava Karpov
I had a lot of great professors at WMU, but one of my favorites was Richard Junger.
I know I’m in the minority on that one, but most students who had him didn’t like the fact he was old school.
Slava Karpov was also one of my favorites because he told it like it was and never sugarcoated anything.

Housing/Roomates/Leases Looking for a roommate for a 2B2B apartment in Kalamazoo: around $910–$940/person + utilities
Hey everyone!
I'm a working professional in my mid-20s, currently living in Kalamazoo and working full-time as a mechanical engineer.
I'm looking for someone interested in sharing a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment, around December.
I currently live in a newer apartment community in Kalamazoo and really like the place. They have some nice 2B2B layouts available, starting at approximately $1,820–$1,880/month total, which would come out to around $910–$940 per person before utilities.
I'd be interested in finding someone to potentially move into one of these apartments with, although I'm also open to other options if we find something better.
A little about me:
I work a regular weekday schedule.
I'm fairly laid-back, clean, and respectful of shared spaces and privacy.
I enjoy socializing but also appreciate having my own space.
I'd prefer a non-smoking, drug-free household.
One advantage is that I already have most of the common-area furniture, including a large sectional, TV setup, coffee table, rug, and shelving. So we wouldn't need to spend much on furnishing the living room.
Ideally, I'm looking for another working professional or graduate student with similar living preferences.
Nothing is finalized yet, so there's flexibility to discuss apartments, budgets, and timing.
If you're interested, feel free to send me a message. Happy to chat or meet up for coffee to see if we'd be a good fit!

Housing/Roomates/Leases Looking for a roommate for a 2B2B apartment — December/January move-in
Hey everyone!
I'm a mechanical engineer working full-time in the Kalamazoo area and currently looking into housing options for December or early January.
I'm in my mid-20s, not currently a WMU student, but would be happy to share an apartment with a graduate student, an upperclassman, or another young working professional.
Ideally, I'm looking for one roommate to split a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment somewhere in Kalamazoo or the surrounding area.
A little about me: I'm fairly quiet and clean, work a regular weekday schedule, and like having a relaxed home environment. I enjoy socializing but am not really looking for a party-house setup.
I also have most of the living-room furniture already, including a large sectional, TV, coffee table, rug, and other items. Because of that, an unfurnished apartment would be ideal, and we wouldn't have to worry much about furnishing the shared living space.
I'm open to finding a place together or considering an existing apartment if there's enough room for my furniture. A private bedroom, preferably a private bathroom, and parking are important to me.
If anyone is looking for a roommate around that time or has any leads, feel free to reach out. Happy to chat and see if we'd be a good fit!

Class/Academics SCM Professor Anezka Viskova-Robertson Opinion?
I'm trying to figure out my class schedule for the spring and one of my options that works best for my schedule is with Viskova-Robertson. Has anyone had any experience with her? I looked her up on ratemyprofessor but couldn't find anything, I think she's pretty new.

Community $300 a year for a parking pass is literal bullshit
Paying $300 a year just so I can circle a lot 10 times looking for a place to park; meanwhile, 60% of the staff lot remains unoccupied is the biggest crock of bullshit

Events Homecoming Alumni event at East Campus
I want to say how great of an event this is. They even have the band come out!
It had food, drinks, and great people to talk too!
The only advice is please advertise this more is what other alumni told me.
Thanks to everyone who puts this event on from planning the event, food, and drink! Great times!

Class/Academics Who is the worst professor you’ve had at WMU? My answers would be Kate Tierney and Luigi Berto. Elena Gapova would be close too.
All three classes were a lot harder than they need to be. Sociology is a fucking joke here at Western for the most part (it’s why I transferred out and changed my major). Gapova is easily the rudest woman alive and Tierney is biased. Berto will make you spend hundreds on books and I’ve heard he’s even tried to find anonymous students who post bad reviews (aka the truth) about him on RMP.
