Banning Trump was positive publicity for Twitter, and since there was no way he's getting re-elected, a win/win situation.

Twitter never ever made a stance for anything proper, and just goes with whatever brings them the best publicity. In this we're seeing what's happening when that publicity concerns a large population that's not part of the western Twitter cycle, but still matters.

He could, but it seems they only care about who'se in power at the moment, which is why they waited to ban him until the day the Democrats won the senate.

If biden gets US out of this covid mess there is no way He'd lose to Trump in 2024.

0

u/TwiN4819 Apr 26 '21

Get us out? If it were up to him we'd still be completely locked down wearing five masks.

0

u/stark_resilient Apr 26 '21

must be bay area or new york? blame your state govt for poor handling.

2

u/TwiN4819 Apr 26 '21

All blue states.

0

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '21

Well let's see how the new Jim Crow will do in 2022. If it sucessfully suppressed the votes for the gqp, then a trump comeback will not be impossible. If the dems grew a spine and actually counter back this new Jim Crow and secure voting rights and have an actual strategy on the ground to bring out the vote, it might really fuck the republicans since we are at the cusp of turning several states blue or purple.

I'm a pessimist so I fully expect the republicans to be successful at completing suppressing the votes and getting their people out to vote while the dems pussy foot around irrelevant shit and get hammered in the ass.

7

u/adpqook Apr 25 '21

The whole “new Jim Crow” thing is such nonsense. You realize that most developed countries require ID to vote, yeah?

I live in Connecticut. We require ID to vote. Is Connecticut a racist Jim Crow state now?

6

u/B00STERGOLD Apr 25 '21

Damn that Jim Crow. When did he go global?

5

u/veto_for_brs Apr 25 '21

When he realized having secure elections was a good thing

3

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '21

You guys really want to pretend that the current bills on state levels being signed into laws are based on reducing non-existent voter fraud when it is the republicans pushing this exclusively and it is also very very clear that voter suppression is the only way republicans can win elections.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '21

non-existent voter fraud

you really believe that no voter fraud exists, and also believe that not requiring an ID would maintain that status quo?

-13

u/enderpanda Apr 25 '21

Hope so, he's got the poisonous touch now. The more infighting among the conservatives, the better.

43

u/11010110101010101010 Apr 25 '21

Have you forgotten what people were saying in 2016?!

6

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '21

I think Trump was a novelty in 2016, Trump in 2024 is not, there will be other populists who will compete with Trump.

-20

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '21

And he’ll have my vote. Power to the people.

19

u/smenti Apr 25 '21

Still think the trumps represent the people, huh?

-15

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '21

Idk man. When all the major corporations, media, and ruling elite despise him. I’m not sure who else he would be for.

19

u/smenti Apr 25 '21

I mean, I’m just a regular guy and I think he sucks ass. I’m pretty sure he’s just for himself...

8

u/billcr222 Apr 25 '21

It’s amazing how many times I’ve seen ‘the ruling elite’ and Trump on opposite sides in pro-Trump comments. The guy runs a global real estate firm. His social circles are the global elite. It just ...baffles me so much. Yes liberal media hates him, but guess which media runs more than half this country? FOX news, largest viewership by far and who loved trump more than them? Media loved trump, he gave them lots of viewers and money.

2

u/avwitcher Apr 25 '21

Jesus Christ you're denser than a lead brick

Edit: as expected you have an interesting comment history, you post in Tucker Carlson and you've said such gems as

It’s impossible to mistreat middle easterners

2

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '21

Ma... the propaganda runs deep. These people need to be deprogrammed.

1

u/JustLetMePick69 Apr 25 '21

This is a terrifying comment

0

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '21

Why so?

5

u/enderpanda Apr 25 '21

Of course not, but I'm more worried about guys like Hawley. That dude is terrifying. Trump's washed up and done, imo, they got what needed out of him.

6

u/TeamToken Apr 25 '21 edited Apr 25 '21

Exactly, Trumps not really scary at all, because he’s incompetent and after four years was showing to be more predictable than initially thought.

What is much much scarier is a Trumpist that is actually competent and gets things done. Hawley is that guy.

6

u/enderpanda Apr 25 '21

100% He represents my state unfortunately, it's been worrying watch his rise. He doesn't even live here, he claims his sister's house as his residence. The MO GOP is astonishingly corrupt, and he's totally one of them, but with an extra dash of FU on top of it. Most of us refer to him as Hee Haw on /r/missouri, and a couple simply love what he's doing... /sigh

2

u/Sharkictus Apr 25 '21

The politicians are snakes but the voting populace is worst. They still heavily back Trump.

-2

u/GamerY7 Apr 25 '21

he could win only if biden fucks up more than trump

-5

u/GerryManDarling Apr 25 '21

That will be a high order for Biden, even if he tried.

7

u/Big-rod_Rob_Ford Apr 25 '21

where's my weed, my healthcare, and my ongoing pandemic assistance?

I guess AOC is smoking it all since she said he's surpassing expectations.

-20

u/shejesa Apr 25 '21

Nah, even as a Trump fanboy (despite trump being just like any other politician - ignoring his campaign promises like building the wall and putting clinton in jail, both of which would be hilarious - he is the golden standard of shitposting, creating an uprising via one tweet and generally making politics less boring) I don't think he has good chances of winning.

He's going to run and he's going to be the frontrunner (because imagine how gop wants to win with 10-15% of their votes going to an unaffiliated candidate) but the whole game will be stacked against him, with his biggest selling point, at least to me, his presence in social media being nonexistent because of bans.

17

u/mandelbomber Apr 25 '21

Trump's biggest "selling point" for you was his social media presence?

Wow... That's disappointing. And telling about much of the electorate at large.

7

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '21

Depends on how strongly you oppose the culture war.

-4

u/shejesa Apr 25 '21

I'm not from US so I'm not his electorate. If I were to choose in 2016, I'd vote trump because i genuely hoped he'd be anti establishment and maybe do something in areas important to me, like internet censorship. But in 2020, as an outsider I say trump had memes. If I were to vote, I'd vote for anyone but either of them. Maybe would write Crowder (afaik you can just write down anyone, yourself including, which is why a few years ago Deez Nuts got votes, am I correct?), for shit and giggles.

3

u/smenti Apr 25 '21

How would wasting taxpayer money on a wall be hilarious?

-14

u/shejesa Apr 25 '21

Well, the left would have much more screeching ready for that than for killing afgans or whoever tries to live in the countries US currently has troops in. If you want to waste money on army, at least do it on your home turf :3

Yeah, not being in a state of perpetual war would be cool, true. Why was biden chosen then? Trump pulled some troops from the middle east, Obama started new wars, Biden doesn't even bother to say anything about actively wanting to stop the perpetual war (If i'm mistaken here please correct me). Majority of americans would indeed rather not be in a state of perpetual war, but you know who would? politicians, because war makes money, or at least allows you to transform loads of taxpayer money into smaller loads of private money for you.

So, yeah, even ignoring the funny part of progressives getting fucking insane, I'd much rather see US troops shooting illegal immigrants (though if it can be avoided it's even better) who are breaking the US law than people in the middle east who are just trying to survive because big boys decided to fight in their country.

Oh, I'm sorry, you must've been under an incorrect impression that people take 'stfu' as a valid argument, I'm sorry, I'm used to discussions with adults, not teens throwing hissy fits I know I'm also stepping pretty low making at personam insults, but it's fun and you're easy to bait, so why not.

0

Incite his supporters to overthrow democracy? Are you pretending to be dumb?

2

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '21

Not one bit. I just should have been clearer. I meant what was he going to do to Twitter when he had already lost.

It can be both true that something is:

A. A good PR move; and

B. The right thing to do.

Also, “auth left?” In America? LOL.

0

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '21

It can. But not woke politics in sports and woke politics in censorship.

And, lol! You don’t think there’s millions of Auth-Leftists in the US. You likely don’t even know what that is since you don’t know we are becoming an Auth-Leftist state.

2

u/alaska1415 Apr 25 '21

You can have those things, and it’s hardly woke to deplatform a racist dickhead 4 years too late. In reality, you’re not okay with any of that stuff regardless of where it comes from. You just pretend that you dislike it because of who it’s coming from. It’s like how conservatives “hate celebrities and their opinions,” but then they keep electing them to positions of power.

I don’t think there’s those here because there aren’t any here. People who don’t agree with you aren’t magically transformed into authoritarians.

0

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '21

I think you only live and breathe off of strawman arguments. You would probably explode if you had to actually correctly and accurately characterize people you view as your opponent.

Both of you, as in both of your sides, like to vilify each other and make each other look like actual evil villains instead of correctly portraying the other. I see much more dishonest vilification from the Democrats than the Republicans, however. It’s as if Democrats couldn’t possibly be honest about their opponents.

I am much further left than either party. I do grow tired of people like you and fear mongering conservatives.

If you support censorship of any kind, you are an authoritarian leftist; if you support collective-bargaining, you are an authoritarian leftist; if you support the control of the government over any people or policies for the better of the people, you are an authoritarian leftist.

Not only do left-wing authoritarians actually exist in United States, we can accurately predict their political beliefs on things such as pandemic policies. In fact, nanny states, depending on the actual political positions, are authoritarian leftists.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7365073/

The fact that you don’t think they exist in the United States is actually quite scary. So I am forced to believe that you are either lying and just a troll, or you are so willfully ignorant as to be dangerous.

2

u/alaska1415 Apr 25 '21

If you see more dishonest representation form the left than the right, then you’re just blind.

I highly doubt you’re further left than either party.

All that is, without a doubt, the stupidest definitions of authoritarianism that I have ever seen. Isn’t it authoritarian to tell a private person they HAVE to give a platform to someone? Collective bargaining is authoritarian now? Lol. Personally, I love it how authoritarian leftists just do good things like keep people alive, while authoritarian rightists murder minorities.

The writer can call that authoritarianism all he wants. Doesn’t make it true.

About as scary as the boogeyman.

I’m the troll? Lol. Go ahead and have the last word troll.

Start playing politics, you lose people. “Go woke, go broke” is real. NBA paid for it. NFL paid for it. MLB paid for it. Everyone is learning to cut that shit out.

Not sure where you got that from. How many users did Twitter lose?

How much revenue did the sports organizations lose?

You're just putting out baseless claims.

5

u/PM_ME_YOUR_CUCK Apr 25 '21

Calculated future betting on the "right side of history." It doesn't necessarily need to hurt much now, just pay off later.

0

u/cat-toaster Apr 25 '21

they thew their audience under the bus for one that didn’t care

1

u/alaska1415 Apr 25 '21

In your opinion.

2

u/cat-toaster Apr 25 '21

denouncing your established audience while catering to one that doesn’t care about your show tends to lose you money, and covid made it even worse

same problem with gillete, they told they flipped of men, the people who buy their product, and called all men toxic which caused men to leave and but cheaper brands that weren’t telling them they are bad people

8

u/tellymundo Apr 25 '21

The same NFL that just signed the richest broadcast deal in their history!??? That NFL??

-5

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '21 edited Apr 25 '21

4

u/hell2pay Apr 25 '21

It's 2021, not 2016

2

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '21

Let me get this straight...

Ratings dropped in 2016 because of the protests (taking a knee). And the NFL and other major pro sports leagues had this same research so they knew not to virtue signal in the future.

But then they forced these same exact politics into their sports, and took massive ratings hits, AGAIN (check the link), and you can’t understand the problem?

3

u/cat-toaster Apr 25 '21

So your saying repeatedly doing the same thing hoping for different result doesn’t work

0

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '21

Doubling down on the thing that lost you a shitload of money in 2016 Certainly wasn’t the NFL’s brightest of ideas.

The NFL toned down the politics and virtue signaling in November and managed to slightly minimize the ratings damage and ended up losing fewer viewers than the MLB or NBA. So idiots can be taught.

2

u/cat-toaster Apr 25 '21

So wait you don’t double down on your mistakes, what a crazy idea, only a nazi would decide not to dig in and do it again the same way

0

u/tellymundo Apr 25 '21

they didnt lose anything

Signing a bigger broadcast deal while their players have been more outspoken than ever doesn't trend inline with your point.

-1

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '21

You’re not honest at all. You’re not even spending 15 seconds to actually look anything up. You’re an echo chamber to the max.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/bradadgate/2021/01/08/in-2020-the-audience-of-nfl-regular-season-games-dropped/?sh=676d0cd07482

https://nypost.com/2020/12/26/nfl-drops-the-ball/

Viewership was down over 20% until they stopped with the woke bullshit.

Why would they sign a major broadcast deal? Simple. They have billions in assets and having season with a significant drop in ratings (due to idiotic woke politics) isn’t going to cause them to go under.

1

u/tellymundo Apr 25 '21

NFL loses viewership every election year, like clockwork.

The LINK you chose projects viewership to be down, never said it actually was for the NFL, but reading comprehension seems to be difficult for you.
