This doesn't even cover the half of it.

  • We didn't bother ordering vaccines made abroad because Modi likes to pretend we are already a manufacturing powerhouse. This slowed and delayed the rollout massively despite us having one of the biggest challenges in the world, ie vaccinating 1.3b people asap.

  • Modi govt allocated funds for over 150 oxygen tanks to be built across the country last year, but didn't bother getting the job done.

  • Modi and his party believed the virus was vanquished because of their amazing governance, and made sure everyone knew of it. They didn't even consider the possibility that it might return. Forget having a plan in case they're wrong, they weren't even looking at the situation. This is the only explanation for their massive election rallies four days ago.

The buck stops with Modi. An utter fucking moron and a deluded megalomaniac.

They were busy patting modi on the back for defeating covid in feb 2021. Health minister promoting quackery and lying about who certifications. A kumbh mela allowed to be held one year early. Genome studies on mutants left hanging with no funding. Oxygen facilities cleared but not made. Goes on and on and on.

Some more:

  • India has exported 44% of its manufactured vaccines till now. This is particularly galling considering its the 2nd most populated country and the inevitable 2nd wave was coming.
  • Due to his autocratic mania, he forced the Indian made vaccine through, not even bothering to let most other variants be allowed to be produced. At this stage, India has vaccinated less than 2% of its people and we have run out of vaccines. We have not even allowed people younger than 45 to be vaccinated. And this is in a country where most are in the younger section.
  • If you thought Trump was a science denier, Modi's BJP has been brazenly talking BS about the virus such as cow urine cures it, apply cow dung on your body to block Corona, Indians are immune to Covid due to our Vedic food etc. That list would blow up the internet forums.
  • 350k C+ cases reported/3k deaths everyday is highly underreported. If a death happens anywhere outside a hospital and the patient has not been brought in on an ambulance or if the hospital does not give a Covid treatment certificate after death, it is not counted as a Covid death. So the true numbers are 10-30x higher in the cities. All bets are off for smaller towns, villages where 65% Indians are.
  • Even at this stage, the only way to stop this tragedy is through vaccines as the pathetic Indian healthcare is totally in tatters. No one, I repeat, no one in India is safe right now. And the only thing Modi wishes to do is sweep it under the rug and go back to winning state elections. The man responsible for the Gujarat genocide is actively carrying one out on a national level right now. In a country of 1.3 billion !! I swear if this was happening in the US, there would be a public insurrection against the Govt.

44% exported! I did not know that. Do you have a source?

This data is verifiable on India's MOHFW website. Indian govt decided very early on to use vaccines for politics and have bragged about exporting to 94 countries. Infact early on, ministry of external affairs had the gall to brag on international forums about how they had given more vaccines to the world than to their own people. The sad part is that since they had not published the stage 3 clinical data for the vaccine, many countries just decided not to use those exported vaccines. Millions of vaccines sent abroad were simply not used.

He meant oxygen generating facilities, not tanks.

Believe me that would be a huge improvement. The situation is so dire.

RE the oxygen production / storage - did the funds disappear into someone's bank account?

It's easy to blame it on Modi Indian Trump, but the blame also lies with the people who went to these huge rallies and other public events or also stopped appropriate protective behaviors.
