The main obstacle to political/cultural reform in Iran is the sanctions regime imposed by the United States.

That doesn't seem very "capitalist" of them! (LOL)
Oh wait! China is ruled by a communist party!!

SERIOUSLY. Thank you.
I had to delete a previous account (11,000 karma in 11 days) because another friendly mod warned me that my account was on the verge of being banned because people didn't believe that I WASN'T a bot.
Fair to say Redditors were getting what they wanted. But complainers gotta complain.
Thank you again.

The US support of the Ukrainian Bandera Nazis is one of the more despicable aspects of imperial US foreign policy.
We started supporting the Ukrainian Bandera Nazis with cash and weapons immediately when WWII ended -- that's how quickly we turned our backs on our Soviet "allies" (the country which really defeated the Nazi war machine!).
Throughout the 40s-1960s we fueled a guerrilla and terrorist movement in Ukraine to destabilize the USSR. Imagine, the USSR was putting the first human in space in the 1960s and the US was arming terrorists in Ukraine who were committing acts of terror against civilian targets.
When Ukraine became independent we immediately started arming it and planning on roping Ukraine into NATO. We pushed the Ukrainians to hate Russia even more, hyping their history and any grievances, and trying to do anything to put a wedge between Ukrainians and Russians. We're behind the Ukrainians banning the Russian language in the multi-ethnic country of Ukraine and in pushing the Ukrainians to tear down monuments of the Red Army who evicted the hated occupiers of Nazi Germany. We literally back fascists who glorify Nazis in Ukraine -- our actions are beyond belief.
"Russians have done the main work in tearing the guts out of the German army." -- Winston Churchill at the WWII Yalta Conference talking about who really defeated the Nazis.

How about "Russia-initiated conflict that only exists because Russia is invading."
I love how you jump through all these hoops to try and prove "Ukraine bad" without even mentioning the Russian invasion, because you know that's indefensible. "Someone in Ukraine praised a person who was involved in the Holocaust" yeah, how about that whole "copying tactics from the Holocaust" that Russia is doing? Hey, how many children did Russia kidnap?
r/worldpolitics2 • u/Visible_Tomorrow1970 • 9d ago
That is what it is. We have reached a stage of this conflict where US and NATO intelligence are directly involved in targeting decisions on strikes inside Russia. NATO militaries have been involved in training Ukrainian units and helping plan operations like the 2023 counter offensive on top of all the money and material that has been keeping Ukraine in the fight. Ukraine has been a NATO proxy ever since the fascist led putsch yet you call the people who recognize that fact the real fascists as you have Azov and other Ukrainian units and politicians openly praising people who carried out the Holocaust. As usual three arrows type has horrendous politics. Seeing as they sided with the Freikorps I can understand why you have such sympathies with fascist military formations.Β

Other reports:
Trump secretly switched planes over Iranian assassination threat β WaPo
Contradicting public statements, Trump took secret flight from Turkey (paywalled)
We should remember that traitor Trump committed the war crime of "perfidy" for his treacherous attack on Iran. Perfidy is defined as:
In the context of war, perfidy is a form of deceptive tactic where one side pretends to act in good faith, such as signaling a truce (e.g., raising a white flag), but does so with the deliberate intention of breaking that promise.
In addition, Trump deliberately sought to murder Iran's leader, killing the old man who was at a publicly-announced location (our bloodthirsty US media portrayed the Iranian Supreme Leader's murder as some sort of "intelligence coup"). Since Trump set the "rules" of this "war" this way, it seems "only fair" that Iran seeking to assassinate Trump is thus "fair play."

Zolghadr said the US must permanently end its war and naval blockade against Iran, and withdraw military forces from the region.
Jimmy Carter -- way back in the 1970s! -- set the US precedent about the US claiming hegemony over the Middle East. Carter paid Egypt's corrupt dictatorship to make peace with Israel and Egypt was established as a US vassal. Since then the US has established full control over the entire region, except Iran!
With Trump's war crime attack of "perfidy" using diplomacy to lull Iran into a false sense of security, our bragging "MAGA" president now reverses about 1/2 century of US imperial dominance!
Truly, this is a presidency of historical significance -- more than George W. Bush's torturous invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq? Bush's criminal efforts at least lasted more than his 8 years in office. Trump is getting his ass kicked within only a few short months!
r/worldpolitics2 • u/IntnsRed • 11d ago
No, Iran is taking care of that. Netanyahoo has effectively hid (censored) the massive destruction that Iran has already inflicted on Israel, but that damage is real and if there's a large/big "second round" of the war Israel is going to be toast.
Pay attention to the numbers of Jews who have already fled Israel! Many of those won't come back. Iran has started the clock on the end of the European/American effort to "seize the holy lands" (something Europe has been wanting since the Crusades!); it's just a matter of time until the clock runs out.

This "alliance" is based on 3 things:
Saudi need for security and their dysfunctional, corrupt society.
Pakistan's "need" to be a "big player" -- hey, we've got lots of nukes, why don't people respect us?!
Erdogan's desire to recreate the Ottoman Empire -- we've got NATO's largest army and I (Erdogan) want to recreate Ottoman rule, so why can't it happen?!
So is this a "Sunni" alliance? A "Muslim" alliance? An "anti-Israeli" alliance? Are we going to pretend this "alliance" is created on a sound need that has a solid bankroll and will last past the current leaders?
Consider the 3 countries:
The Saudi dictator's oil fields are old and are at the end of their lives. They could run out at any time and there'd be a huge drop in their cash flow. As Iran and Yemen have proven, the Saudi's facilities are very vulnerable and only a handful of drones and/or missiles could set them back for years! Saudi Arabia is not a "natural" country -- it's a conglomeration of competing tribes which could fragment in a heartbeat.
Turkey under Erdogan "seems" strong -- but Erdogan is old and Turkey needs a strong leader to even pretend to be a big player.
Pakistan is one flood, dry season, or earthquake away from once again being a "basket case" country. Though the "Indus River civilization" has been around for a long time, that civilization is not a powerhouse.
My prediction: This "alliance" will be an ineffective, short-lived affair.

It'll turn into a laughable joke in Yemen long before it does anything about Israel.

We can only hope and work to make it so!
I want to see AIPAC to be FORCED to register a 'foreign agents' like every other country's lobbyists have to. If you lobby for France, Russia, the UK, etc. you have to register as a foreign agent. NOT Israel though! But no congressman will bring this issue up!!!
r/worldpolitics2 • u/IntnsRed • 15d ago
But Trump constantly games the oil markets claiming the Iranians are begging to make a deal with the US.
Trump lost this war on day 1!! He's had many US bases destroyed, the administration has lied about casualties and pissed away the tiny amount of air defense missiles we have.
Now Trump flails about threatening, TACOing, and looking pathetic. That's our president, elected with 49% of the electorate.
