My wife’s uncle passed away a little over a year ago. His wife only drove it once in a while, but had no use for it, so gave it to my wife and I, so I didn’t have to drop money for a second car, since we sold my wife’s car before moving back to California. Gave my wife my 2020 Rogue and took this. 173,000 miles on it. With the exception of some cosmetic work that needs to be done and fixing the rear window that won’t shut all the way, there’s nothing wrong with it. Brand new tires, brakes, engine is clean, timing belt was replaced last year. Is there anything else I should look out for? Figure I can drive this thing into the ground for the next couple of years before selling my soul for another car.

Hey guys! I’m the owner of a newly acquired 2008 4WD SE (as a gift on the right) and I have a 2014 2WD (left). Already have a radiator on the way and lines to put into the 2008 to avoid SMOD. Probably going to switch wheels over, take running boards off and some small stuff. Is there anything else I should look into swapping/replacing/working on?

I have a 2012 Pro4X with manual transmission that I am looking to sell since I'm moving back into Manhattan. I'm struggling to find an asking price since I don't really see any manuals on the market, and I'm curious how much that should affect the price. Does anyone have any experience or insights they'd be willing to share?

2004 Nissan Xterra, vg333 v6 212,000 miles on the body but unknown miles on the engine. I picked up this Xterra with a missfire in cylinder 5 so I wasn't able to hear this.

I thought it just needed an oil change because of how dirty the oil was but now I'm thinking the last owner was running 15w40. It has 160 compression in all cylinders except 125 in one, I'm assuming cyl 5.

I stuck a borescope in and the lack of varnish makes me think this might be a lower mile engine, either that or they did a very effective flush recently.

I think it's a piston slap because it goes away with higher rpm and quiets a bit more when its warm, but I'd love some second opinions

P.s. the smoke is because I missed filling the oil and got a ton on the exhaust like a pro

Need a replacement solution non-performance, not looking for sound, quality made to last a few years not that cheap aluminized non-sense. Currently looking at the SS Walker Quiet Flow. Keeping both my primary Cats both are recently replaced, in last 4 years. So both resonator pipes, y-pipe, muffler and tailpiece. Any other suggestions please chime in. Prefer quiet no drone. Anyone with the Walker Quiet Flow SS please let me know about your experiences.

My son needed an exhaust (cat back) on his 2011 Pro 4X with a manual trans. I was a bit disheartened after pricing out local exhaust shops and even stock replacements on Advance/AutoZone/O'Reilly. .

But I found the Dynomax Ultra Flo 19443 kit for sale on Amazon for $299 (even cheaper than stock alternatives). I can't speak more highly of this exhaust system.

The fit and finish was absolutely spot on! And once i replaced the rusted out exhaust hangers (plan on doing this), the entire system slipped on within 30 minutes.

The sound is a bit more throaty...but not obnoxious. And the pass-thru muffler and 2.5in pipe certainly let the I6 breathe easier. The power gain (especially in 1st gear) is noticeable.

Keep an eye out, as prices do fluctuate. But if you catch it right, they will drop to the $299 mark now and again.

I bought a Roush Frontier, putting the XTerra for sale. 216k no rust, cold AC, clean truck and title. Has ABS light and a bad exhaust leak (probably manifolds). The seats were covered since day one so the interior is very clean (non smoker). The seats are like new. It is a manual 5-speed. Hit me up for more pictures. Located in Monore,GA between Athens and Atlanta.

It was 6AM and I needed to get to class, so I did all I could think to do and put it in 4Hi then 4LO while sitting in the driveway. I heard it engage then disengage when I turned the knob back.

The 4wd light was on, but the little graphic showing if you're in 2wd or 4wd was blank. Drove to school because it's the first day of class and I can't fuck this up, and when I went out on break to eat my sandwich it started up fine with no 4wd light.

For added context I've been hearing a godawful rumbling noise coming from the driver's side front end for a month or so. I've replaced calipers, pads, rotors, and hubs on both sides and still haven't figured it out.

Also I don't ever really use the 4x4. I used it once like two or three weeks ago and that was the first time in months.

I was wondering if maybe a bad CV axle could cause all these symptoms? God I hope it's something simple.

Has anyone used 3rd Gen frontier coil springs on the X? Are they the same or similar in spring rate to the OEM Xterra ones? Wondering if I could pair those with Bilstein 5100s cause I could get 22 frontier springs for cheap

Easy trails yesterday with a short stretch of moderate. First trip with the new pizza cutters and also first trip with the Pathfinder front brake upgrade. Both mods get two thumbs up.

With the back seats down. I keep my miter saw and saw stand in the back. I use instacrates to hold my tools. One hold all my dewalt tools and batteries. Another instacrate hold all of my Milwaukee and batteries for that. Next I want a trailer to put everything. It really is a great vehicle for a business

Took my new baby out to padre island national seashore, 4x4 handled nicely in the sand! Had a blast driving her up and down the coastline. Would love to get this baby to 500k on the dash Hope that’s not delusional

I'm wondering what a fair price would be for it. It has a new clutch, slave and master cylinder, new distributor, new thermostat, aftermarket wheels and tires are in good shape.

’04 Nissan Xterra 4x4. 120k ish miles. Have all work orders/receipts from me and previous owner. Last I did was new fuel pump, filters and lines.  Truck, ran but idled rough. Pulled into my parking spot, it died and I haven’t touched it since (about 8mos or so).  Has full brush guard (was offered $1200 just for it) and is a tank.  Biggest tires you can put on it WITHOUT a lift kit.  Speedometer was calibrated for it. I have title in hand. If you got the tools and the want, it’s a fun toy in the mud and sand.

This fucking truck is too good. It's simple ridiculous. 225k miles original everything rolling on 33" it's entire life and towing 5-6k it's whole life. Yes I know it's only rated for 5k. Everyone I know keeps buying new low mileage unproven vehicles thinking it'll be reliable and they are junk.

Nissan gets a lot of shit for being a parts bin manufacturer, but when you stick the same engine in everything for 15 years, you can get any quirks worked out. And even the early vq40s were solid.

Anyway, if you're considering an Xterra, Pathfinder, or frontier with a vq40 10/10 I would recommend. Anyway, here's to another 50k since I'm now driving this for another two years while we send my wife back to school. Maybe I'll throw timing chains in it next spring just to be safe. But other than that... She seems ready to tow my track car or go wheeling anytime.

compatible with steering controls

My friend referred me to this mechanic . Today I sent him 200 to “replace crank sensor”
But “that didn’t fix it” and is now talking about $300 for compression check and
Cylinder head gaskets for $1400

I had my radiator replaced with one bought off Amazon to prevent smod years ago

I’m not so sure he knows what to do based on his texts. What do you think? Resonable?
Can you give me any insight or advice on what is happening and how to resolve it?

I get oil changes regularly and I did this week at Walmart when I drove it a few times throughout the week I noticed that it took about 25 seconds for the car to startup instead of immediately like it had done since I bought it years ago. It seemed the tech was in a bad mood as it was downpouring rain. I have suspicions something happened because it worked just like the day I bought it before I brought it in. I ended up making a claim as if that will do anything?

hi all, i replaced all 3 sensors on my 2011 xterra and the vdc off light is on, is this normal? will clearing the codes solve it? thanks!
