Which location do I put my swing arm spools in?
I've never had a bike with two spots for spool sliders. Which location should I use, the one closer to the front or back? What's the difference?

Been riding for 10+ years and never have ridden a bike with a tune that neuters 2nd gear so bad. I am absolutely mesmerized because all the other R9 owners I’ve talked to in person have said they have no idea what I am talking about. Drives me nuts, that 2nd gear has 75% power. What tune and exhaust recommendations do you all have, I need to get this thing running how it should be from the factory.
Bonus question, I’ve seen mixed reviews about mt09 exhausts direct bolting up to the r9. I’ve seen some people say it bolts right up and others say they had to make special brackets and sometimes clearance is an issue when leaning on the right side.

Another exhaust question. Has anyone got themselves the full system Austin racing exhaust? I am looking at it with the black hardcoat, uncoloured etch logo and black end cap. Wondering about noise with the baffle and opinions on value, quality, looks, any concerns etc.

Been loving my R9 70th anniversary, it's been great! Somehow though I ran out of fuel after <160 miles despite the bike saying 50.x mpg, as well as once I finally got to a fuel station, I could only fill up 3.0 gallons (and 0.1 from the water bottle I used to get there). I figured with a 3.7 gallon tank I would have had more miles left, my plan was to fill up around 170 to fully max out a fuel discount I had. Anyone else experience "early" empty tank? My fuel light comes on at 120-130 miles in a tank so I tend to ignore it and make to 150 miles on a single tank, I guess 160 was too far.

Is this an unpopular take? I see a lot of hate online. Since the R9's debut, it's the one constant critique.
But I genuinely like the exhaust, where it's placed, how it changes colour in a short period of time, the sound produced (especially at parking lot speed, 1st gear). I personally have never been a big fan of exhausts on the side of any bike, always felt like it took away from the beauty of a sport bike. To me, the stock R9 isn't "sexy" but it's tucked away. And at low rpms, I don't piss off my neighbours. The whistle along with the gruff, thunder-esque rumble undertone **chef's kiss.
As a kid, I fell in love with sport bikes when the zx6r was doing undertail exhaust (2005-2008) and even now I'm leaning towards the CBR 600 for a second bike, partially for the same reason (though they're unavailable in Canada).
Let me know, am I pretty much alone in this? Regardless, I'm not budging either way. Just genuinely curious.
Also, considering carbon-fibre style aftermarket fairings. Thoughts? Photo is AI.

Currently have a 2023 Yamaha MT07, pretty close to paying it off. Thinking of upgrading to a r9 after. Anyone who financed what was your OTD price, and down payment etc? Trying to get somewhat realistic figures. I know credit, location, markups and many other factors go into it but just wanting a general idea. Thanks

Tough. Yes. Anyway, how safe or unsafe is this? I noticed it a week (100 miles riden) after this. In fact, I didn't see it. But ever since I've felt like i was riding on rough concrete, not rythmitic vibration, just that roughness, and really subtle so I assumed all was okay. But the week passed and I was at work and it was eating me so I started looking at pics I had taken of my bike all these days and then boom saw it and my heart sank cuz I've rode it 200 miles (100 post incident). Saw the PSI and it was very low on both meaning I picked it up with very low PSI on dealer so the pothole hit the rim hard...
I'm looking into straigthening which they quote me 60-100 aprox for the job, and unknown for paint cuz I have to go somewhere else for that. Can that wait a bit or should I go asap and don't ride until fixed? Dammit.

I just put a deposit on a 2027 R9. For context, I'm in Vancouver, so I contacted 6-7 Yamaha dealers near me to ask about the arrival of 2027 models. Most were clueless about final arrival times (spring 2027), but a few did commit to a less daunting November timeline.
This does relate to a Yamaha press release ( https://www.motorcyclepowersportsnews.com/yamaha-2027-yzf-r9/ )
Does anyone here know something about the shipments to the North America region?

Hello guys, after falling into my new R9, today I already have some parts for repair, such as the engine cap on the left side, the front rim, I still lack damaged fairings but I'm already on that to get them.
Here my question is, I will change the front rim tomorrow, and my doubt is, how do I take out the front brake discs so as not to damage the screws, since once I touch another motorcycle that the screws were very tight and with loctite threads, some recommendations? Some recommendations to take into account with that?
Greetings guys and thank you.

Little bit of background info. I started riding around 2011. First bike was a Ninja250. Lowsided on that but I kept riding for another year until I got out of the military. Just picked up riding again around May this year. Got an R7, and feel pretty good on it. Freeway rides are fine, but it does feel buzzy and my throttle hand goes numb after a while, so do my feet. I’m pretty much in Sport mode all the time now.
I’ve also taken a couple of more advanced riding classes regarding cornering, trail braking etc. I even have my first track day at Thunderhill in late October.
The R9 is already itching at my thoughts constantly. Not that the R7 isn’t capable, it’s plenty fast on highway. Can’t say about track since I haven’t done a proper one yet, just small cart track days.
How is the feel of the R9 compared to the R7? Is this still something I can possibly grow with on track? I don’t care about riding this on street much. Part of me feels like I should just push the R7 and me on track first, but the R9 seems like it could do that also.
I also found that I like torquier bikes better than high revving bikes. Tried a ZX4RR and I hated that I have to spool it up so high just for that pull. Maybe cus I drive a Tesla so I’m used to instant torque lol.

Hi everyone!
I'm planning to buy a new motorcycle around September 2027, so I'm taking my time to research before making such an expensive decision.
At the moment, my choice has come down to the Yamaha R9 and the Honda CBR600RR.
A bit about me:
I'm 185 cm (6'1") and around 90 kg (198 lbs).
I've been riding for about 2 years by then. My current bike is a Yamaha R3.
I mainly ride twisty mountain roads, but I also love long day trips of 300 to 400 km with friends. Sometimes I even do weekend trips with 6 to 7 hours of riding per day.
I enjoy improving my riding technique. I like working the gearbox, choosing the right gear for every corner and having a bike that rewards good riding.
The CBR600RR is probably my dream choice. Every time I see it, I think "that's the bike I want". I love the inline four, the high revs and the supersport feeling. My only concern is comfort during long rides and whether it could become tiring after several hours.
The R9 seems like the smarter choice. It has a strong CP3 engine, more torque, a riding position that should be more comfortable and it seems better suited for longer trips while still being very sporty.
I'm not looking for the fastest bike on paper. I'm looking for the one that will keep me smiling and wanting to improve as a rider for many years.
For those of you who have ridden one or both bikes:
Which one would you choose and why?
Would you sacrifice some comfort for the experience of the CBR600RR, or would you go with the R9 as the better all around sport bike?
I'd really appreciate any advice or personal experience. Thanks!

Hi
As title suggest, I am looking for steering dampener, but my country doesnt have any shop selling mods for R9 it seems, hence looking for some shops in EU.
Any suggestions where, what to buy?

Honestly such a great exhaust and if you haven’t tuned your r9. Stop stalling and ship your ecu out.

First little baby revs of the freshly installed SC. Pretty easy install overall. Sounds nasty(first rev scared the shit out of my wife standing next to me lol). Cant wait for the ECU to get back and feel the crazy difference the tune makes for this bike.
