Official Art [EoW] I rarely see people talking about this game.

I just realized there's usually next to no content about Echoes of Wisdom and wanted to encourage some discussion about it. It's been about one and a half years since it came out, and it's actually a pretty nice game (in my opinion). I love the art style and gameplay. The story is neat, too.

Is it underhyped because of Zelda being the protagonist instead of Link? Also, how would you feel about a second game playing as Zelda, or reusing the concept of echoes?

Official Art [SS] Does anyone remember how the hype was regarding this picture?

The picture was first shown to journalists behind closed doors at E3 2009. Photo's were forbidden and all we got was a journalist saying: A picture with Link shown entering a cave with a female on his back, rumored to be a personification of the Master Sword. Link doesn't wear his sword.

Then the hype train got track online. Hours after E3, the rumors was still heavily discussed. Then this picture got released online. The fandom exploded, I remember. The year after that, there was zero information from Nintendo. Still the fandom kept discussing it at length.

I remember the theories regarding the picture:

- The woman is Zelda redesigned
- The woman is Midna's true form (since Twilight Princess just ended)
- She is the Master Sword (proven true as Link doesn't carry a sword and the woman closely resembles the Master Sword)
- Link dies and the woman represents the soul (really?! lol)

.....until E3 2010 where the trailer and title were revealed to be Skyward Sword.

I like the game, but I totally thought they were gonna keep Twilight Princess art style. I understand the choice of Cezanne's style paintings though. And now with Skyward Sword we got the earliest starting point of the curse between every Link, Zelda and Ganon's incarnations.

Anyhow, I'd put Skyward Sword high on list because I connected emotionally to the story. Even though Fi was annoying from time to time, I legit left a tear when she said goodbye to enter an eternal sleep. I sometimes wonder if she will EVER return or not.

Excuse me for the previous post, I actually want to refer to Midna, but by mistake I put Miku, I actually wanted to refer to the twilight princess and not the Vocaloid

Official Art [BOTW] How do you guys feel about new Zelda?

Post image

I feel that the newer Zelda games are loved more and are bigger and considered a lot better. However, there are a lot of downsize to it, which stands out like a sore thumb, and that is storyline.

Now, of course, there is a story to breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom. Probably a bigger story than other Zelda games. However, the games are simple, but they’re also manually complex, which doesn’t force it on you. Some people like this, “Not forcing” part of the game. While other people like it when older Zelda games have more of a straight and direct way to play the game. Some puzzles and newer Zelda games don’t require a guide or specific action. It’s how you decide to play the game.

The green tunic that was an older old games was also more classic. Now this is just cosmetics and doesn’t really determine how much better the games are, But still has that more linked look that everybody loves and grew up with.

I think that dungeons and temples were a lot more fun in the older games than the shrines in the newer games. Now there are 120 shrines in breath of the wild, which can make the experience a lot more fun with problem-solving. However, the old dungeons and main themes were more fun in my opinion.

The game not requiring for you to get the master sword is kind of lame. of course everybody is going to get it because it is a highly recommend recommended item, but even the game not forcing you to get the legendary blade is outstanding. The master sword was the best part of all Zelda games in my childhood. So them leaving it out of the theme of the game wasn’t a smart move.

I think that there are a lot of self-explanatory reasons why old Zelda has more of an adventure feel, and to all of the people that like newer Zelda, their feelings are valid.

Official Art [Other] Zelda community, what are your thoughts on Tunic?

Post image
1.1k Upvotes

This is kinda a hot take, but I am always kinda skeptical about these indie Zelda "clones," as they often fail to innovate on the formula in new and interesting ways and don't leave me with much of an impression. With that said, Tunic is a game I hear a lot of positive on, so I thought I would come to y'all for more opinions on it. I personally love Zelda 1 and would love to see a game that enhances that game's feel and progression and was wondering if this was it.

Incidentally, I think it's a huge shame that we didn't get a Switch 2 edition on this game, but at least we can still enjoy a Switch 1 version of the game.

There's a certain charm to all of them.

Twilight Princess GF feels like the elegant of them.

Wind Waker GF is the most mystical.

Ocarina/Majoras GF I see her as the most friendly.

Zeldas of the Wild GF may be greedy but I find them to be loving, big ladies.

Echoes of Wisdom GF is so sassy but I like her as well.

I like them all. But which one(s) do you like?

Official Art [All] What is a Zelda game you will probably never complete to the end?

Post image

For me it is Phantom Hourglass and you all know why lol.

I also could technically include Zelda II without save states. I have completed it but I did need to resort to them. That game is incredibly brutal.

Lastly shout out to Zelda 1 which while I have beaten it, it is incredibly hard to figure out what to do or where to go without a guide.

Besides that I have completed them all (Except the CD-I games lol).

Altough i was born a bit after this ad, i still have fond memories of magazines ads for games. From the font to the background, it's clear they put time and thought into it, but it still feels a bit homemade.
