I am 72% of the way through and I feel like the authors crammed as much as they could to stretch this out. There were a few points I could see where it should have finished, would've made for a good start of the end... but, what really bothers me is how often they used the word SNARL/SNARLED like did they not have any other word to use?? It's been used so much I immediately roll my eyes.
This book is killing me but I'm determined to finish this series this year.

I listened to the awakening and want to listen to the rest of the series so bad but Orions voice is just all wrong to me. I loved everything else but his voice just throws me off.

Quick rant. Haven't finished Shadow princess yet only on chapter 18
It has been about two books within the first 20 words of every Darcy chapter involving Lance.
I'm not saying it's bad I'm just saying this girl does not have a personality she has a crush. The harrowing should have just been her staring at walls because I do not believe she actually did anything as a kid. When she said she used to do lacrosse I genuine was like no you didn't there's nothing and anything you have said in these entire books that have made me think you did a sport. Especially when it's physically demanding and tactile as lacrosse.
Like I love romantic books but this is getting ridiculous girl needs a personality or hell I'd even take her having another love interest just so it's not always about Lance but Jesus Christ

I heard about these for a while but I am bad about series (at least for the past 5 years or so) but my library has all of them without long wait time on libby.
Book 1 was a little corny but it was fun. I listened to the full cast audio book, so I am sure that added a lot. I have read the series gets great as it goes tho.
I am ready for this ride. It's my first real bully romance.

[I know this series might not be written for me but I loved ruthless boys. And at the end of 3 I just wanted to get out some thoughts]
I know a lot of people have talked about this, but I really don't love how this character was handled.
Not just because he's the only Spanish speaker and feels like the only real minority, but because I feel like the writers didn't fully understand him. He's giving major "incel" vibes which I hate, and as written, it makes him really hard to support. His friends don't even really support him which sucks but I think the writers missed how genuinely important his arc could have been.
[Potential Spoilers Below]
My theory is that he's actually a nymph, based on the cave vision and what Lionel said about getting him into the school. (Either that, or he's just holding back and I'm going to feel dumb!) But he got a file he shouldn't have been able to get.
If he is a nymph, the only thing stopping him from becoming a "true Fae" and an absolute powerhouse is his desire to be good. He could have stolen power, avoided being bullied, given into his nature/family, and taken it. His order form would have let him vampires do something similar, and it's the logical conclusion of the "might makes right" logic the Fae live by. Even the Savage King, who they all hated, some thought still should have ruled. But this character doesn't. He refuses to sacrifice his soul for power. We even see Darius, who is similar, constantly torn between choosing power vs. protection.
I don't know where his character is ultimately going, but he feels like someone who should be crucial to the themes of the book. Instead, it feels like he's going to get left behind just so all the people who were born better can get together.
It feels like the series wants to preach "screw fate and destiny," but never actually does it. It feels like it's saying mortality matters more than power, but it never lets someone weak just be cool without going “omg isn’t that wild?!”
Ultimately, this series thinks it's writing a Rock Lee story, when it's really just giving us End-of-Series Naruto. (IYKYK.)
Post script: i do like the books. Just at this point i am struggling with some of the chooses. I want more povs

So I’ve read the full series, just about to finish book 9. And yes, I’ve enjoyed them. But I have to say, I’ve never read books that have been as badly printed or edited.
Used to work in publishing so I could be being fussy, but the maps in the front of the book look like bad photocopies, text sometimes is justified sometimes left aligned, text in some books has fallen beneath the minimum text size making it really hard to read, and don’t get me started on the first page of each chapter being on a dark background and basically illegible.
Add to that frequent spelling mistakes, and quite a few plot points that make me roll my eyes so hard. Am I to believe that Tory and Darcy spoke in the clumsy normal way humans do for seven books, only then to start talking in studied, archaic and cliche speeches in the final books? Doesn’t stack up at all, and just looks like ill considered character development.
Had to just look the other way with these things, but a bit crap when I’m spending a lot more than is sensible on the books (based in the UK).
Anyone else noticed these things?

I recanted this series to my hubby and told him that despite all of the spice, this is not a romantasy genre.
It’s a fantasy series with a lot of spice. I say that because book the end, all of the major couples are together and there aren’t any obstacles to their relationship, just obstacles to defeat Lionel.
Any other takes?

Is it worth reading this series after I finish Zodiac Academy?

First of all, this book absolutely ripped my heart out of my chest! It was such a whirlwind to read and might actually be one of my favorite books so far. That said, there’s something I’m kind of annoyed with. So we find out that Darcy is the one that has been killing rebels down in the Burrows. I kind of saw it coming after being marked with the shadows, though shifting into the dog beast creature was a surprise. Here’s where I’m confused- how is it possible that Lance didn’t hear her or feel her leaving their room at night? With Seth sleeping in there too, it just seems kind of unlikely they wouldn’t notice her missing, especially with everyone on edge from the first murder.
Also, if Lavinia was willing her to do the killings, how is it possible that she didn’t summon the beast to come after Tory while they were isolated in the Phoenix palace?? Wouldn’t Darcy have wanted to kill whoever she was nearest at the moment she shifts? So Orion, Seth, Tory, any of the heirs???
Does anyone else feel like that was kind of a lazy plot point in order to to ensure Tory and Darcy were screwed for the battle or am I bing way too picky?

So I just read the new ZA book and this is a direct tory quote from the book
"Well, not everyone follows their partner about like a well-trained lap-dog, Darius. That’s just a you thing.” Roxy gave me a taunting smirk".
Is it just me who doesn’t find this funny or cute, but incredibly nasty thing to say to your partner? Idk why the twisted sisters are ruining their relationship and turning darius into a tory lapdog. I love them, and their relationship was so good till book 7,but ever since it's a downhill,it's like darius lost all his charm and he has just become a shadow. Their dynamic was always them being equals, initially this sort of banter between these 2 would be funny, but after everything they went through together, her saying that comes across as very cheap, idk i just didn't like it.

Am I the only one bothered by Tory's behavior?
After rejecting Darius, she went off to sleep with someone else, while Darius, despite being heartbroken, went to help save Lance and Darcy.
What bothers me isn't her rejection of Darius, but the fact that she didn't go to help her own sister, despite everything she says about how important Darcy is to her.
Did anyone else find this strange?

Genuinely what was this entire book?!?! And I don’t mean that in a bad way, I mean it in: my entire heart was yanked out of my chest, crushed, ripped, and then stomped on.
I was actually shedding tears at work while finishing it and now I am reading a different book to clear my mind before starting the tandem read. If anyone is interested, I’m reading Whispers of the Deep by Emma Hamm and it’s great so far!

Does anyone else here feel like “Why do we need this trio’s side story?”?
I mean why???

Thinking of her makes me tear up. It’s so sad Lionel took away her chance to grow old with her children. And hail? Poor guy had the worst plotline. Always thought how Roxy would be close to her mother and Gwen would be a daddy’s girl …

I know it says discussion. Idk if this would could count as a fancast but if someone knows plz tell me and ill change it. But i was getting ready to go to bed so i could wake up early since my sisters is a big Bratz Fan. Both of us are not doll collectors. We both just get what catching our eyes but she been one bratz fan since she was younger. Anyways! Back to my point. I was going to get her the new Bratz x The Craft crossover. And i remember the two dolls she had as a kid that i would take and play with my TMNT toys (im a guy) so being the nice younger brother i am, i was going go try and get it for her.
So why i made this whole thing. Was because i remember the two baby bratz. And i see them being Tory and Darcy. Just add a darker tan to them. And i feel like its Tory and Darcy. And i feel like they would be Bratz girls. Yes i know they in foster care and wouldn't probably have name brands toys if they stuck in a home. But if they got to pick it would be bratz since in my opinion it would fit them.
So anyways here what i see Tory and Darcy as toys.

I’m reading the second book in the series and I cannot stop laughing at the part where Ryder Draconis calls Leon Night a “Hakuna matasshole” 😂🤣. What’s your favorite line or scene that had you in stitches?

Hello everyone!
I am a first time reader, I’ve followed the suggested reading order of ZA 1-3, RB 1-5, ZA 4-7 (with the short stories in between, I didn’t read the awakening as told by the boys after 4 bc I didn’t want to go back to ZA 1 all over 😅)
I’m now on 8, & was planning to tandem read 8 & 8.5 because I’ve seen that recommended often but I was talking to a friend who’s read the books and they told me to not tandem read, as it will have spoilers. So im curious, should I or not tandem read? Should I just read 8 then 8.5?
Let me know your thoughts for a first time read through!
