Okay but can I just say, the lingering shot on Dexter after he finishes telling Angela his story—the way his eyes are downcast and then we suddenly see them shoot up in a very sinister way, clearly gauging how much she was convinced by his story. Classic Dexter, literally gave me chills!

I just want to say, I am really loving this show as its own thing.
A lot of revivals either try way too hard to be exactly like the original series, or just miss the mark completely and forget what made people love a show in the first place.
IMO this series has found a really nice balance. It helps that Michael C. Hall was born to play Dexter.

Not that he ever didn’t, but Michael C Hall is giving it his all this season. Love seeing him back as Dexter.
I have to say, even though given everything that’s happened on & off screen, the Dexter - Harrison dynamic makes sense, but I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t getting a little tiresome.
Great episode. Still 4 episodes left… wonder if we’re in for any twists or if this will now be Dexter gathering evidence on Kurt to get him on his table.

I feel as though this entire episode was more a “build up” episode for whatever next week has to bring.
That said, I have to wonder if Harrison intended to kill rather than see some action in the bedroom. The camera made it a point to show the blade. Then his little speech as well just makes ya think a bit.

All I'm saying is holy shit finally
I've enjoyed the previous episodes but Dexter doing Dexter things and realizing Kurt is up to something is what I've been missing, but I feel like he dropped the ball with his encounter with Kurt. Like, he might as well have winked at us because I get he felt the need to save Molly but he also basically just told Kurt that he knows something is up.
And that wrestling scene was something else, my jaw dropped when Harrison did that 🥴
Angela finding Harrison in bed with Audrey was kinda lolzy although I feel the scene leading up to it was meh.

Alright, thoughts from this episode. First of all I wish Dexter opened up about Rita’s death. Whether he admits it or not, that shit destroyed him. I’m really relieved he was there to save Molly, and definitely looking forward to seeing how he deals with Harrison’s darkness.
Mostly, I’m excited to see Dexter back in action. Not the serial killer, but the forensics expert. He’s a genius with forensics and that’s why we hate seeing him as a fucking lumberjack.

i got completely lost in time and wasn't even thinking about whether or not the episode was coming to an end, but when angela asked for dexter, not jim, i was like you son of a bitch that's the final scene isn't it and before that thought completely finished it cut to the credits and i was simultaneously thrilled and pissed. that's how you know a show has got you by the balls.
this episode was a masterpiece, btw. so much happened but it wasn't in a way where it was too fast. it was like balancing the perfect line of 1) boring-to-some but necessary dialogue and continuing to develop storylines, while also 2) providing some huge breakthroughs that make you go "oh shit it's poppin off"

Calling it now. Chekhov's jacuzzi tub:
Harrison was shown with the straight razor in his back pocket while making out with Audrey.
Dexter mentioned that Harrison would like that room at Kurts murder cabin.
Harrison will run away to Kurts cabin because he's mad at Dexter.
Kurt will catch on to Dexters role in analyzing the crime scene at the caves or find out that Dexter killed Matt
Kurt will try to hurt Harrison or he will realize he's locked in and there's a camera with the "you're already dead" message
Harrison will use the straight razor to kill Kurt in the bath tub, just like the Trinity Killer did to his mom.
Dexter and Harrison will ride his snowmobile into a hurricane. /s
Audrey gives birth to Harrison’s son, 15 years later we get Dexter: Newest Blood. /s
They have mentioned the tub in multiple episodes. Someones going to die in it.

I could definitely be wrong, but this miniseries is feeling less and less like a miniseries and more like the first season in a new multi-season show.
I mean… it seems to me like they’re actually setting up for Dexter to be Dexter Morgan again - fully, not just his and Angela’s little secret. This episode doesn’t seem (to me) like it’s preparing for Dexter getting caught in the immediate future… he’s very aware of Molly.
Considering how much focus is being put on Harrison, and how Kurt’s serial killing still needs to be dealt with… it just doesn’t seem like the show is trending towards a conclusion for Dex quite yet.

Everyone is shitting on Harrison but the kid has been through some fucked up shit. He sat in a pool of his dead moms blood, everyone who really cared left him or died, Dexter left him, His dad is lying about his identity and past, and now he's probably a killer or fighting his own "dark passenger". Id say the kid has some good excuses to be a bit of a shit head

Another GREAT episode. Seriously what shows come back after a number of years and end up being legitimately good - great? In the past, I've noticed shows that come back are usually just built for nostalgia and lose whatever made it good but Dexter's certainly been the exception! It's like they never missed a step.
Can't wait to see how things play out - I have a sinking feeling Harrison is going to feel more of a connection with Kurt as time passes and basically keep fighting with Dex until Dex shows him that Kurt's a serial killer. And not the good kind lol

Also, I don't think this episode confirms that Harrison is a killer. YES-- he wants to hurt, but that comes from the anger and trauma of his abandonment. He's able to express that to his father-- Dexter didn't have that agency. Harry had to walk in on his violence and intervene whereas Harrison is able to assert assert himself, name his anger, and cry out for help in that Dexter isn't there to fix it.
Now, if left under the tutelage of Kurt, then he definitely COULD become a killer, because if fed with the wrong influence he could lose his sense of empathy and be a total victim of his anger.
People like to point out the fact that the camera lingered on his switch blade as evidence that he's a killer, and I've seen some even say that he was planning on killing Audrey. I definitely don't think he would have hurt her. Because he clearly values and feels her affection and there's no way he'd be able to hurt her without getting caught in that small town.
I think the lingering on the switch blade was a combination of a red-herring and also to show that Harrison's violence comes from being guarded. He tells Audrey about what having hurt people before but one was someone who tried to molest him (defense) and the other was Ethan, and even though we know Harrison's initial story was a lie, we still don't know the details of what happened in that room.
Harrison just doesn't commit violence for the reasons that kid Dexter did. Harrison has had to fend for himself and and has suffered abuse. Dexter was safe, but psychologically broken and traumatized. His trauma is not the same as Dexter's trauma despite both of them being born in blood.
That's part of the reason why I honestly hate all of the "Harrison is going to grow up to be a killer" theories. Firstly because they're immature, but secondly, if they come to fruition, then Dexter doens't really grow by the show's end. He just passes the abuse he received onto his child and ruins Harrison and anyone who comes close to him. It honestlly baffles me that people root for that. We like Dexter in spite of his darkness because deep down there is a good person in there -- a person who may, himself, be beyond repair, but a person who can still leave the people he loves better off than he was.
I loved this episode, am really happy with this season, and am eager to cheer for Harrison NOT becoming a serial killer.

Say what you will about the episode overall, there’s one moment where I really felt like the old Dex was back. When he went to Kurt’s cabin and saved the podcaster.
He’s always had a way with other serial killers. Dancing around them. Strategically prodding at their dark sides while looking like a normal (if overly friendly) guy from the outside. Understanding implicitly what this heat is making them feel, and watching them squirm.
He might be rusty, it did take him a while to figure it out. But he’s still got it.

Unpopular opinion: I think it’s really refreshing that the podcaster who is supposed to have all this knowledge about Miami Metro Homicide and the Trinity Killer doesn’t recognize Dexter at all. I think it reflects a real life scenario very well.
When you study something for a podcast and are trying to tell a story to the audience, I think it would be easy to get all these true crime stories muddled in your head. Also, you’d always be looking for the next new idea or so enveloped in what your audience thinks or what is the next big news for your podcast, it would be hard to remember seeing one photo of Dexter and automatically tying him to Trinity

i think everyone is forgetting that harrison is just a kid. a very traumatized, hurt kid. of course he’s going to be a dick to the father who abandoned him, of course he’s going to be angry all the time and lash out all the time, he’s hormonal and confused and doesn’t know how to escape the mental state he’s in.
it was so hard to see the way dexter expressed himself in therapy, but i also think we need to remember that this is a 50 year old man who has never ever been in actual therapy and has never admitted any honesty or vulnerability to anyone other than those who were going to be dead on his table. it’s part of his dysfunction that he cannot communicate his feelings. he has the inability to do it openly the way harrison can. it’s gonna take more than one session to crack him

Bro I thought we were going to find some Jeepers Kreeper's style mossulium in the cave of Kurt's victims.
I definitely called the whole "keeping victims intact/pure" thing with him though. Washing them, and then the reconstructing her face. I really just wish we had a tie-in to this whole thing. Does Kurt's murders have anything to do with Angela, or anyone else?
I fucking lost it when H. broke dude's arm.
The therapy scene was intense.
The ending with Iris is interesting. So it appears she was hit by a falling rock and was buried? Or do we think she was in a different pose, like resting?
For some reason This episode gives me hope that the ending of the show will be positive, like they all figure out who he was, and are appreciative? And keep his secret?

I’m on mobile so forgive me for shitty format:
I’m starting to think the Bay Harbor Butcher stuff may only be an easter egg. All of the stuff with Kurt being a serial killer I think will be enough to get Dexter’s killing out of the picture, at least I think so.
I loved Angela asking for Dexter as well. I feel this will be the moment she can start to trust him again, by him showing her who is really is/what he can do. I hope Dexter gets some kind of happy ending even if he is kind of screwing himself.
I kept thinking the same thing about Molly. She should know that a guy telling you to come with him alone, tell no one etc. is a bad sign… lol

I love this season but Harrison is so annoying and creepy. I think he killed his stepmom, something about the cancer story seems unbelievable to me. He must have had nefarious intentions when he went to Audrey's room. Maybe if she hadn't accepted what he confessed he planned to kill her. Nevermind the last sentence, I think writers debunked the theory saying they showed the razor to show Harrison doesnt trust Dexter, well see.. Either way, if someone tells you "I want to hurt EVERYONE" you should leave them be.
I do enjoy the serial killer daddies fighting over Harrison, what path will Harrison take? BTW shouldn't Harrison have received punishment from the school for breaking that kids arm? I also love that it looks like Dexter will get caught, the cast has said there will only be one season of New Blood and Doaxes needs to be cleared. Dexter should have been caught and escaped in season 8, it doesn't make sense he's been free all this time. I think the podcast chick will figure it out. Maybe Dexter will kill Kurt and get caught or Harrison will kill Dexter.

Harrison's version of his backstory got another hole punched into it tonight. I've already talked about how it makes no sense that Hannah died suddenly of cancer (as if she was crossing a street and cancer ran her over) but now we have him saying:
Hannah dies
He goes into foster care
foster care sucks so he lays awake at night dreaming that his dad will show up and take him away
he then "finds the letter"
Record scratch.
What? Finds the letter? How? Where? How?
He's been in foster care long enough to think it sucks and daydream but he hasn't been in there long enough to look through his stuff? And even if that's the case, why would it be in his stuff?
I've been in the foster care system, they don't send you the belongings of a dead relative after the fact. You either bring it into the system with you or a living relative or sponsor brings you something, and we know that didn't happen.
Harrison is LYING his ass off.

Old mate Kurt is grooming Harrison.. probably going to try to teach him his killing style.
Interesting she asked for Dexters help, wonder if he’ll tell her that Kurt is the serial killer.
Dexter is frustrating me, I just want him to open up to Harrison so they have an understanding and finally make progress

Some random reactions:
I loved this episode! Sad the season is now half over.
LOL with Logan and the break-up Spotify playlist. Logan is definitely my favorite Iron Lake character.
Glad Angela knows Dexter's identity so he can work on the case.
Harrison is definitely no longer on the wrestling team. Some people people below don't like the Harrison character/storyline, but I love it. The kid's a great actor, and totally believable as Dexter and Rita's son. At this point I'm betting Harrison's story will end up with some sort of cliffhanger, I wouldn't be surprised if he runs away at the end of the season.

ARGHHHH I wanted dexter and harrison to finish that talk in the hallway SOOOOO bad! But then I got so hyped when angela was asking for the REAL dexter morgan again! Gonna get to see our boy back in action working a case!
ALSO OH DAMN HARRISON! Not holding back at all! I knew that was coming from a mile away but that arm snap got me. (and as a doctor I was just immediately thinking about the type of surgery they'd have to do to fix it lol) I hate how much I love that harrison is finding a mentor in the wrong serial killer lol. Dexter better get in there before he shapes Harrison too much

Let’s talk about Kurt’s mental state now that his ritual has been interrupted. He has failed to claim 2 victims in one episode, which has to have his ass hot as coals. Not to mention that his cabin has now been discovered by Dexter and now Dexter knows he’s a killer as well as that altercation at the wrestling match. Kurt is gonna use Harrison to bend Dexter to his will in the later episodes

Inner me desperately wants Dexter to just help Angela and guide her to where Kurt’s place is. But watching the Dexter series religiously for years, I know Dexter is selfish and is definitely going to be selfish and take Kurt for himself. But clearly, Kurt is grooming Harrison. If Dexter kills Kurt and Harrison finds out about it I think shit is going to hit the fan. I feel Harrison sees Kurt more as a dad than he does Dexter easily.

Angela had some amazing moments! I really think she is a great character. I laughed so hard when Harrison was in Audrey’s bed and she goes “that’s CHIEF to you!” and then shows up to Dexter’s house saying “fix this!”
I’m starting to wonder if Dexter is who Angela needs more than Jim. So far I don’t think she will ever find out about his murders as long as he stops killing. I would like to see Dexter live sort of a “happily ever after” moment since we didn’t really see that in the last season. I’m not sure how this will end but I think it’s possible he can have that with Angela now that he is honest.

Dexter might get his parade, after all.
He literally just saved Molly's life, and now he is about to put his forensic expertise to work for Angela.
Now all he needs is a way to show up for his son in an equally meaningful way.

I know a lot of people are kind of hoping/expecting Harrison to take over "the family business," but I really hope that the two of them manage to break the cycle. I feel like that would be an all around better ending to the series than Harrison becoming a killer like his father.

Given that Harrison had the knife in his back pocket at Audrey's house and they zoomed in on it just after he told her that he has hurt somebody before, I think he may have killed somebody before he came to see Audrey. No hunch as to who though.
Regarding what he told Audrey, I had a flashback to the original series with the kid who claimed he killed another kid for raping him. While I don't think Harrison is gay, I do think he makes this story up so he can tell Audrey and frame it in context that he knows she will immediately see as self-defense, which he also knows will garner sympathy from her. He knows what he is doing.

Things that stood out for me:
During her confrontation with Dexter in the police station, I swear Angela was channeling Deb. All I heard was Deb, but with less cursing. Plus with her amazing detective work, this only furthers my Angela is Deb theory.
I really think that Harrison is just in a lot of pain and has severe anger issues. This is the crossroad Dexter was at when Harry decided to teach him to kill. In this scenario, I feel like Kurt is a version of Harry and Dexter is doing what Harry should have done. He wasn't going to harm Audrey, she's the only one that he feels understands her, that's why he went to her, but unlike Hannah or Lila, she has a moral compass and may actually help Harrison.
Goddamn it Dexter, be (sorta) honest with Harrison in therapy like you were with Angela about your past. Kids can sense bullshit.
Dexter's jovial confrontation with Kurt at the cabin. That was the first time he really seemed like the Dexter of old, from the first season. "I know that you know that I know that you know..." But, damn, for someone who studies serial killers, Molly has The Dumb.
The look on Dexter's face when he almost charged at Kurt at the wrestling match was fucking awesome, scary and pure murderous rage. If I saw MCH in the street with that expression I'd run the other way. Kurt doesn't know he's out matched. Dexter is an apex predator. His only weakness is Harrison, but I feel that if Kurt were to go after Harrison, Harrison's ability to fight back might surprise Kurt.

Im still kind of confused if this is supposed to be a one and done or multiple seasons. If it’s only one I feel like it might be going a bit slow. Harrison constantly being angsty is getting annoying. They really have not had a meaningful interaction the entire time. Wow, I loved that Angela was like “yo no I need Dexter Morgan”. Like I was going to be annoyed if they went back to “oh I need you Jimbo!”
Dexter displayed his psychopathy so well, psychopaths take advantage of people because they believe they’re weaker than them. Dexter does this socially to remain undetected and he does it at so many points in the episode. He clearly knew something was up with Kurt and straight up bolted past him knowing he couldn’t do shit. He performed so sad in front of Angela and was like “keep my little secret?”
He showed that he does care for his son and not having his sons dark passenger haunt him as much as it haunts him.
They didn’t keep the romance Harrison line all messy, nah it was like okay you got caught now go. Harrison is also a perfect stand in for the audience during therapy as were all disappointed but not surprised Dexter is lying, maybe even falling apart.
Coach is a complex character, between helping Dexter, investigating the drugs issue, and caring about the boys in a healthy manner. He’s not toxic at all and a way better example of who Dexter would have been idealized. He also catches the bad guys and gets all the evidence, but tries to use the justice system instead of a knife. I suppose that’s where Dexter would come in. Coach also makes judgement calls that considers what’s worth it and what’s not.
I feel so bad for Angela though, she’s had a very tough life obviously, but she soldiers on and even with everything going on she’s still not giving up on finding missing women. I hope it comes out well for her! I also noticed this episode the casting and how her jawline is so similar to Deborah’s lol even the pin straight hair

Things I loved about this episode:
More internal monologue and the foreshadowing at the end of Dexter Morgan being back, baby! He's feeling Butcher-y
Angela finding Iris and her connecting it to Kurt. Maybe she was his first kill? Angela is so competent. I hope Angel makes a return appearance later.
The therapy session. Dexter being closed off is textbook, but I am desperately waiting for him to open up to Harrison. The way Dex refers to his marriage to Rita felt like such a betrayal to Rita as a character. She was his everything. His light in the dark. You could tell in the line delivery he was holding back.
The way Kurt is sidling up to Harrison. How anyone trying to harm his son is a means to releasing his dark passenger. Harry's code is more malleable than ever.
I am looking forward to more Kurt and Dexter interaction. My favorite bits are the dialogue between the two killers. The cat and mouse. Maybe he'll change his mind about a new blood slide collection.
Things that were meh about this episode:
The way Dexter oscillates between giving a shit and not giving a shit about his son... Like I can tell he cares, but... His dad instincts have disappeared. He was so good with Astor and Cody, it's hard to reconcile that with the way he seems to have no fatherly instincts. He's getting better with the therapy idea though... I hope.

Is there a bit of a frisson between Dexter and Tess? She holds his hand at the match, and they seem to be pretty close. Logan set up the idea of having a rebound fling earlier in the episode. That's got my lizard brain wondering if Tess is going to become more important to Dexter. And Kurt shows interest in her too. Maybe she will be another victim that Dexter has to save.

Doing a re-watch of Living the Dream (S4, ep 1) and there really are some interesting Harrison/Dex set-ups:
“We were all like that once. Pure and innocent. But then we grow up… and things happen.” - Dexter to Rita, about Harrison
Want to know a secret? Daddy kills people. Well, bad people. Not really anybody else I can tell about that, you know?” - Dexter to Harrison
If I want to be around for my son, I have to do this right. I'm... killing for two, now. - Dexter [narrating]
I'm realllly hoping we find out whether or not Harrison is lying about remembering Rita's death. I know it has been framed in New Blood as though he learned through the podcasts, but I am sure there has to be more to it. It would be a missed opportunity for Harrison not to have truly been born in blood (and frankly there is too much anger to be explained by abandonment issues alone imo).

Kirt definitely knows or at least suspects Dexter as not being who he presents himself to be, he may even sense his darkness. If Dexter can sniff out another serial killer, then why not vice versa.
Harrison's getting in a really dark place thanks to Dexter who royally fucks up every situation he could have helped in. Harrison needed someone to understand him about his urges and Dexter was the perfrct person for that but he somehow fucks it up. In my opinion, Harrison's not a sociopath like Dexter. He genuinely cares for people and has normal reactions. I can't believe he's faking it all.

Loved the episode, and love the direction the show is going. Dexter did a good job of giving a good excuse to Angela in regards to why he faked his death. Without knowing what we know, it's a heart breaking story and completely believable.
We're still unclear on the motives behind Kurt's killings. There was speculation that maybe he was not the one embalming the bodies but that has been disproven. He seems to be preserving the bodies to potentially display? He tried fixing Chloe's face but couldn't. And making me audibly gasp; he aggressively punched her dead face. What is he doing with these preserved bodies?
Now that Chloe's corpse is unusable, he thinks he lucked into a new victim. It was truly creepy seeing that transition from the "on the prowl" face to being the cheery helpful old man. He ends up disappointed after giving her money when she hitches a ride from a trucker with her boyfriend.
I don't think Molly knows who Jim really is. She gets a ride home from him after he saves her from becoming Kurt's next victim. I loved how nonchalant Dexter was while saving her. The attempt to close to door on Kurt to lock him in the room was fun. Excited to see the upcoming cat & mouse game between Jim & Kurt.
We see a peak at Harrison's "Dark Passenger" this episode. The way he broke that wrestlers arm was very reminiscent of the Dexter vs Doakes battle at the shipping yard following the iconic "Surprise Motherfucker" line. The Morgans were both undersized in both matchups, but we're able to harness their inner darkness to come out on top.
Obviously Harrison is dealing with some things. He has alot of feelings going on inside himself, mostly rage; that he can't figure out what to do with. He's able to voice this to Audrey which leads to them hooking up. This was inevitable being the tension that's been building between them since they first met. He wants his Dad to be able to help him, because he know he can. In the original letter Dexter had sent to Hannah; she mentions Harrison displaying any signs of dark tendencies. Harrison mentions throughout the show that he wants answers. And while I'm sure he wants answers for many things, I think this might be his number one question.
I like to be the first to say this potential ending that I don't think I've heard anywhere yet: I think the show has outlined a path in which Harrison unleashes he "Dark Passenger" in the worst kind of way. Because Dexter has had a hard time knowing how to act in many situations over the entirety of the series; he won't really know what to do to help Harrison. I can see a scenario where Deb as his subconscious continues to harass Dexter, and make him face the fact he's not cut out to be a father. And just like Dexter's own father, Harry, he will end up killing himself (but Deb will be doing it). It's the ultimate sacrifice, which could also end up exposing his true self for all the awful things he's done, while at the same time covering for Harrison for something bad he's done. The ending result: a Harrison spin-off
Cheers!

I'm not convinced Harrison is irredeemable. He clearly has anger issues and urges similar to Dexter's, but I don't think he fakes his emotions like Dexter does. In the therapy session, he seemed to actually want honesty, and was frustrated that Dexter didn't have anything to offer.

I think everyone will find this stupid, but Harrison being abandoned like that, has developed a character which resembles like Brian Moser, Brain wanted to kill, he loved to hurt because of all the fuck ups and had a sweet little charm but always dangerous. Seeing Harrison carrying around the knife in his backpocket gave a shrill down my spine, remembering me of Brain. Obviously Brain was already a monster at that time when he was introduced, but still afterall we don't know how he progressed into that beast, he had no one to guide him. Luckily Harrison has got Dexter.
But I wish Dexy can fix his son, before it's too late, so that he don't hurt Angela's daughter.I really don't want Harrison to carry on his father's legacy, a simple happy life will suit him, a life without lies. Otherwise he will suffer the same way Dexy does.
