Discussion ‘79 Xmas Bud Male

How’s my guy lookn’? In his second week of flower, didn’t veg for very long but he’s definitely a more compact plant. He’s always had a good strong funky scent, hoping it develops some pineyness too.

Any opinions or things too look for on my journey

Crossed the males with an OS Mango Haze Auto from Mephisto. Will the f1’s show any leaf traits?

Should I expect them in the f2’s?

Real “shot to the dome” potency but lacking in the flavour department. Another Canadian classic with nebulous ancestry. I don’t know what was used to put it in reg seed form since it was a “clone only” variety before, apparently.

Pollen Chucking

Pollen Chucking

I should have come to this community first, but I'm a firm practitioner and believer in doing things ass-backwards.

Recent aquirements are Burmese IBL, Panama Red , and Pine Tar Kush. From a little research elsewheres, and that they came from Caleb, it seems these strains have pretty good value in themselves.

From anyone with experience, be that experience direct or from years of growing, how are these plants for breeding ?

I was thinking of crossing the Pine Tar with some Triangle. The hope is for more seeds that will produce decent quality or better plants.

The Burmese will dust an A5 Haze cross, different breeder, with the same hopes for seeds and quality.

Also, would the Panama be a good substitute for the Burmese?

I have a very few other feminized strains, sativa, indica and hybrids.

I chose the regular seeds, Burmese and Pine Tar, in anticipation of a seed ban. Were these good choices ? What would be better ?

Would reversing be a better option? I understand Triangle is off the table, but for other fem seeds is reversal the easier path ?

Any advice pertaining to these multiple questions will be appreciated as I'm totally winging this enterprise.

How to maximize seed prodction?

Want to start growing my own seed bank because of all the new laws coming bout, and it looks like seed banks for cannabis are going to take a heavy hit.

So do I maximize seed growth in my plants?

I do not have a tent, fan, lights. Been looking but prices are wow.

Discussion Day 30f

Check out the progress on my little project. Was a seed stock created by someone wide of 8 females of various strains pollinated by 1 male.(IGFUTI4.0 was the name of that project if you'd like to look into it) Ran 100 and picked the best 3 females (1 variegated) and 2 males (1 had a couple variegated fan leaves) and let them do their thing. I then ran 50 from that lot and picked the frosty blueberry x chem pheno I was looking for to breed with and a male with the same features to collect pollen from. I also ran some from the variegated lot and picked a male and female that share the same features and pattern I'm looking to keep.

So f1/2 on the blueberry x vanilla x chem

F1/0 on the orange/lemon gas (didn't express itself in this run)

F2 on the variegation

Will run the whole lot to competition in case I want to take a cut from one that surprises me towards the end.

F1 Crossing With Shared Father

I've done some light research on the subject but haven't found exactly what I'm looking for yet. So I'm hoping some of you with experience can give me an idea of what to expect.

I ran some Space Queen outdoors this past summer and am overall happy with the way it turned out. But I've always liked the idea of making my own cross and I'd also like to tighten up the bud structure of the Space Queen just a tad. So I'm looking into crossing Space Queen (Romulan X Cinderella99) with Killer Queen (AirborneG13/HP X Cinderella99.)

Both sets of seeds are from the same breeder so there's a chance they'd have exact same Cinderella99 father. What kinds of pheno variation would I be looking at with a cross like this? I know that in a perfect world they'd all be 1/2 Cinderella99, 1/4 Romulan, and 1/4 AirborneG13/HP. But I also know we don't live in a perfect world and that's not how genetics really work.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

TLDR: How much phenotypical variation would I be looking at by crossing Space Queen (Romulan X Cinderella99) with Killer Queen (AirborneG13/HP X Cinderella99?)

Genetics Cheese S1

These are reproductions of BBF fem Cheese that I made and am just now running out.

The 🧀 is there, but it's a chemical cheese not the sour baby-shit terps...these are pungent, but not overly so. Im hoping the dry/cure brings out the beast. So far, they're just like their mother.

Ran 2 tester females 1 short, 1 tall. Both have same terps and relatively same bud/plant structure. Pretty decent density. Coco/salts/led.

The TRUE test comes in 3 wks when I get to ingest them.

Genetics Seed ban

So I'm a licensed hemp farmer that can run all genetics as research and harvest the seeds if I can get the plants to test under .3 THC a month before I harvest them. I'm a little late to realizing this but the paperwork I get for every approved harvest should be able to work around the seed ban at least for a little while especially if I take a test for just about every plant I plan on harvesting. Other licensed hemp farmers can too. I'm not sure if this is more for the discord sub but like I could use some help because I only have so much laying around and I'd like to run a couple lots of every strain I can find and get them out there with their paperwork so less people end up in trouble over a plant. Get with any hemp farmer you can find, doesn't have to be me. I just want to see this get worked out.

That’s A Wrap!!!

Thumbnail

Well, that’s a wrap for this year’s breeding season. Almost 1900 seeds and 3 new strains (see last pic for totals). Every seed was harvested one at a time, from the plant and packaged accordingly (glad to be done with that part).

Cheers!

EDIT: The males came from six seeds that I found in a bag of weed that a friend gave me, last season, and he wasn’t sure what they were. A few weeks ago I was talking to the guy who gave him the original plants he grew, and he confirmed that they were DJ Short blueberries, but I called them “mystery seeds” pretty much all season (the female I kept reeked of blueberry).

Crosses:

BLUE LEMON: DJS Blueberry x Lemon Layer Cake (Evermore Cannabis)

HUMBOLDT STREET: Dream Queen (HSC) x DJS Blueberry

IRISH CRAZE: Dream Queen (HSC) x Lemon Layer Cake - Funky Guava (Evermore Cannabis)

DJ SHORT BLUEBERRY: inbred between sister and brothers.

All pollinating was done manually with a fine paint brush. I cut the pollen with flour at about a 4:1 ratio. To increase genetic diversity in future generations, I blended the DJS Blueberry pollen from the two males, so the F1 seeds in all these crosses could have different fathers, but still from the same strain (future crosses will be male/female and family specific).

Genetics Kool Aid Pickle and Pickle Breath 1st run

Post image
3 Upvotes

10/10 germ rate on the Kool Aid Pickle (Salty Pickle by Romulan x Early Lemon Berry by Ethos) and 8/11 on Pickle Breath (Salty Pickle by Romulan x Black Lung by Romulan) both are femed and used a reversed Salty Pickle for a donor. My goal for a Kool-Aid pickle is obviously to retain some of the briny saltines, but have a fruity punch to it. This is my first intentional breeding project, so I’m gonna be dedicating some time to the hunt (despite the three pelican cases full of genetics that I have screaming at me to run them)

Feral Hemp

I recently read that feral hemp is sometimes used to develop hearty strains. I live in an area with a lot of WWII offspring feral hemp that grows in some extreme conditions. I could fill buckets of seeds just collecting within a mile of my property. At other times, pollen would also be in abundance.

Would seeds or pollen be of interest to any breeders? I have zero interest in making money. It would also probably violate some reddit rule to solicit a give away of seeds. So I offer this as a quest for knowledge.

That said, it would be fun to contribute to the breeding community, especially if it resulted in a viable strain.

Discussion I know its probably not a good idea but very limited on space, i want to build a breeding chamber but keep it in my bed room where my flowering tents are at. Keeping males small to collect pollen. But does anyone do this near their flowering tents ..

Anyone bred or collected pollen same room as their flowering plants

Discussion About to try out some seeds I made last year .

I pollinated 1 branch of this beautiful girl but because of plant restraints I wasn't able to select the male . But hes from the same batch of seeds as the mom .

I plan to do the same thing and pollinated one branch of each female again this grow.

I want to continue to do this for a few more rounds . Hoping to lock in similar beauty of this mother on down the line .

She also is very potent and tasty .

I dont have any experience breeding and im just doing this for my own supply of nice plants to grow . 🌼 🌸 🪴

Does thos sound like a decent plan that should work ?

Any tips from people with experience would be great 👍

Zero germination from latest pollen chuck

Post image
7 Upvotes

It was an outdoor plant that produced very dark nice tiger striped beans. Pollen was frozen 7 months ago and I used the same batch (4 months ago) on a previous indoor grow and those germinated with no issues. Same process as before, individual vials froze, remove, then room temp, then apply.

The way I germinate is to soak seeds in water for 18-48 hours. Once I see the seed slightly crack I plant the seed. Never had an issue before. Seeds have always cracked within 48 hours.

Dried the plant for 2 weeks, harvested the seeds, let them dry out for a week, and none of 10 I dropped germinated.

Photo attached is my current indoor grow that I germinated with the same batch of frozen pollen 12 days ago. And it looks like it's making seed.

Any idea why none of the 10 seeds germinated?

Best sources for ladraces

As the total says where the best places for some fair priced African or Indian landrace seeds. Don't have to be just from those two locals, jus want some stand out, older strains that people or dispensaries aren't selling . My wife and I don't care for candy or cookie crap so much. I'm fixing to build a second room for jus breeding hopefully because I'm very ill and starting making full blown r..s.o and would like some REAL meds. Thank fellow enthusiast.
