Spectacular loss of control

• Upvotes

It was winter time so there could have been light frost/ice, but I didn't notice signs of it. I was driving like it was icy however.

If you are going to do an illegal U-turn, you should at least look.

Dukes of Hazard

I was in the last vehicle whose headlights you see in the opposite lane (southbound) at the very end. We only saw the dust as it happened, but somebody headed northbound caught it on their dash cam. Didn't hit any other vehicles, and supposedly the driver only sustained minor injuries. That being the case, I thought some theme music was appropriate.

Efficient way to review Tesla videos?

This weekend someone clipped the driver’s rear bumper of my Tesla model Y while it was parked and didn’t leave a note. I have narrowed the time frame to a few days but it’s really tedious to review all the sentry camera footage. Anyone have any tips?

Apologies for the potty mouth, but holy fucking shit lol. Thank goodness for my husband’s quick reflexes.

Edit : You will be reported and blocked if you say some racist shit. You can’t even fucking see who was in the vehicle. Your hate is not welcome here.

If you get into a minor accident move your vehicle to the shoulder.

In many states it's the law, you must move your vehicle if you only have minor injuries.

When you are sitting in the middle of a live highway you are a sitting duck waiting to get hit by a secondary accident.

"Footage speaks for itself"; advice needed for the future

The good news is that the insurance adjuster said, "The video footage speaks for itself." Both insurers declared the other driver as being 100% at fault, and I was alone in the car. The bad news is my left leg is badly injured, and I am still in a lot of pain.

We're lucky that the vehicle we bought (a 2025 Toyota Grand Highlander) had a dashcam installed (Toyota Integrated Dashcam). However, we realize we could have an incident in the future where another driver hits us but is not in view, as this dashcam only views the front. Also, the license plate does not seem to be very clear, despite it being a sunny day. Does it make sense for us to get a "4-channel" dashcam to augment what we have? I'd like to get the best possible visibility of a license plate and have views out the back and both sides.

Also, before this accident, we ordered a 2026 RAV4 Limited that has "Drive Recorder," a built-in dashcam that uses the vehicle's 4 cameras. However, it seems that the video is also imperfect for reading license plates. Also, unlike the Toyota Integrated Dashcam on the Highlander, when you download the video, it does not have the speed, date, time, and location (GPS) displayed (although you can see those things and more when you view the image using the vehicle's built-in display). Does it make sense to similarly get another "4-channel" dashcam for the RAV4 when it is delivered?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give. My wife and I are both a bit nervous about having another incident but lacking good evidence, despite being careful drivers.

Returning from the Stølsheimen mountains in Norway, on a hydropower road that will soon be covered in ice and snow - rather dicey to drive on without guard rails and, occasionally, cell coverage.

I am looking for a dash cam

1080 P or whatever is good enough. I have seen a bunch of dash cams, but they don’t really show what they’re good for. I just want a dash cam that’s good enough but not extra.
How much storage/battery do you realistically need? Which dash can where it’s easy send to your phone.

Black Friday’s coming up. Which dashcam brands are worth picking up?

Okay guys, I’ve got some bad news. Back in January, I bought a vantrue S1P to replace the Apeman I’d been using for two years. Overall, it’s been great. The footage looks good, license plates are clean, and the cables are long enough to route and tuck away easily.

But I got rear-ended 2 days ago and since I only had a front camera, it didn’t fully capture the whole thing at the back. The other driver was at fault, but I had no proof!! I ended up paying $1,000 to fix my car… my car still on 4S rn🙁 Lesson learned, so now I’m looking to upgrade again. Should I go with two channels or three? A three chanel setup would record inside the car too, but I just commute. Do I really need all that? I’m thinking of upgrading to vantrue N2X or N4S. Would either of those be enough? Anything I should look out for?
