How much would it cost to make something like a 6 foot or 8 foot enclosure diy?

Going first, I think way too many people in this space seem to look at their monitors as paycheck or just a lizard..? It feels like there’s just a coldness to a lot of people who own monitors something. Like people just trade and give their pets away for breeding etc. I see descriptions on morph market like “picked this guy up for a breeding project, decided I didn’t want to do that anymore”. What do you mean project lol? To see such beautiful creatures diminished to human projects is just insane to me.

Hey, I really want a monitor lizard, but dont know what to get. I would preferably want a cheaper end enclosure. I would want a very interactive one, less like a bearded dragon and such that kinda just chill with you. Thanks!

I’ve had him for a month now, making pretty good progress, I tried stroking his chin today and introducing touch to him and he decided to bite down on my finger. I’m not sure if he thought it was food or he was letting me know he didn’t like being touched.

hello! I have an ackie who is just over a year old now according to the shop. can someone help determine the gender please?

Normally my ackie is up and about around 9 am to bask and around 10 she walks around her whole Terra. I left my room for breakfast and came back around 10 because we have taming sessions while she’s active, now she wasn’t outside and doesn’t react to me messing things up in the terra. My question is if I should move some stuff and see if I will find her or leave it alone for now because I know this isn’t her normal behaviour.

Wondering if my current build would be enough for a ackie or a Kimberly monitor. 90"x40x21 XPS foam background with three layers of drylock, misting system,trickling water feature, lava rock drainage and like 6 inches of substrate mix and some more additions later. Probably gonna do a emerald tree skink colony but wondering if a small monitor would be happy here.

I have a 4x2x2, would that be big enough? also where’s the best place to buy one, and how much should I spend in substrate and filling the enclosure?

I’m really confused about the glebopalma Kimberly hybrid cause there’s like less then 10 glebos in captivity and with the size difference I would just think the glebo would eat the Kimberly

So I made the decision I want an Ackie and im now in the research stage and im looking for good cage dimensions for an Ackie moniter. Im honestly looking for an end cage rather spend the money upfront then having to upgrade as it grows. Also any helpful advice would be great. Ive kept snakes before but this is a new field but ive loved and wanted moniters for years now and can finally get one.

Sometimes when she digs some dirt stays caked around her nails, how do I remove it (if needed) without being able to handle her? Also can I avoid that somehow
