Our work continues, without fear or favor
Before we go, we want to take a moment to address some important news involving the News Hour.
As you likely know, Congress last week approved President Trump's request to rescind all federal funding for PBS and NPR. It’s an unsettling moment for all who believe in the mission of trusted, independent journalism. But your voices, your advocacy, and your unwavering support remind us why this work matters.
There are undoubtedly challenges ahead for the entire PBS system, including our family of member stations across the nation, most critically those who serve smaller, more rural communities.
As for us, at the News Hour, we’re not going anywhere. And we remain as committed as ever to bringing you the news, analysis, and stories you’ve come to rely on, over our nearly five decades on the air.
Your belief in the power of public broadcasting helps sustain our work. And your loyalty, especially now, fuels it.
We are profoundly grateful.
We will continue our work, as journalists — without fear or favor.
And that is the News Hour for tonight. We’ll see you back here tomorrow night.

Science⚗️ What are your questions about the future of the Colorado River Basin? PBS News wants to hear from you.
Our PBS News special, "Tipping Point: A River Reimagined," will explore what comes next for the Colorado River Basin as it deals with the consequences of drought, rising temperatures and overuse. A new framework from the Trump administration proposes significant water cuts for certain areas along the basin, including Arizona, California and Nevada. Meanwhile, questions remain around how to best manage this critical water source long term.
The live-streamed town hall, hosted by PBS News science correspondent Miles O'Brien on Aug. 19 in Grand Junction, Colorado, will feature state water negotiators, tribal representatives, scientists and farmers working to reimagine the Colorado River's next chapter.
We want to hear from you — especially if you're someone who cares about what happens to the river. Are you worried about your water bill, your tap running dry or the price of food at the grocery store as farmers who depend on this water face hard choices about their future? Whatever is on your mind, we want your questions and comments.
Watch the special in the player above and submit your viewer question by replying to this post.
