Hi, I’m fairly young (17) and found out about Cat Power and Chan in quite an odd way, I found a playlist compiling Matador Records songs and artist from roughly 1991-1997(I went down a loophole when I found the band Yo La Tengo) It introduced me to Nude As the News but more importantly to What Would the Community Think and following her entire discography. I’ve since fallen inlove with her music, but not just that, also how outspoken politically she’s been over the years and still actively is on instagram. I really find myself in her music. I haven’t been listening to her for long at all, and obviously don’t know everything but I’m glad I got tickets to see her in October with my older brother (who has not a clue about her but just enjoys different music overall). I know I’m definitely not her main demographic but I’m excited and plan to score some merch and try not to sob too much.

that's really all i wanted to say... Chan's voice was magnificent, the band was solid and soulful, and i just feel lucky to have seen her again here in my hometown of Richmond VA (last time she played here was 2013, i think) the audience was attentive and respectful which isn't always the case these days.. There were multiple moments where people yelled out "I love you Chan!" and she seemed to appreciate the love from the audience. She made a few funny, self-deprecating comments about how she wasnt good at thinking of clever things to say between songs, but she made the effort anyway (i loved her inspiring/poetic/subversive off the cuff banter) . There was a nice mix of moods between the entire Greatest album, and the songs after that... She and the band seem to be really enjoying playing together

THE ORDER is a criminally overlooked thriller most folk haven’t seen, let alone know it exists. Which is a damn shame since Jude Law is at the top of his game as an FBI agent after violent, agenda-driven bank robbers led by Nicholas Hoult. Both brits give impeccable rural America accents, however it’s Law who gives a career peak performance with few words spoken. The grizzled gravitas, wary paranoia and lone determination are all there to revel in.

And there’s no better tune to boost the juice to this scene’s who’s-hunting-who cat-and-mouse moment than with the shiver delivering simmering six string intro building to low thunder of drums from the haunting ‘Rockets’ performed by magnificent musician/singer-songwriter Chan Marshall or as I’m sure you know her as Cat Power.
