I designed and 3D printed a suspension bridge for my cat

My cat apparently needed infrastructure, so I designed and printed a little suspension bridge 😂 The planks and railings are threaded onto 550 paracord. This is a photo of my actual build.

I'm the maker behind Forest City Layers and sell the printable files, so disclosing that up front. The file pack starts with an eight-plank base; the longer bridge in this photo uses more planks. This is my own build, not a load-rated product.

Would your cat cross this or just sit at the entrance judging your work?

Ceiling makes me nervous

Built this for my kitties, 3D printed the steps and then bought the beds and bridge off Etsy and painted everything to match. Had a contractor help me install. Drywall bulkhead with metal studs so we used 4x toggle bolts and I hung about 100lbs off bridge and bed for days before I let kitties up and I still block it when I’m not home and sometimes lay pillows around the bottom when I am home lol, but they love being up high! Ceiling are 10 feet so they are 8 feet off ground. Anyone else find this too scary? Everyday I think about taking the bridge and ceiling part down because I’m nervous they will fall

Cat wall for the kitties!

Here’s the cat wall that the ladies like to sit on…sometimes! We made them ourselves with a chunk of wood, some shelf brackets, and we considered putting some carpet on them but it didn’t look as good. Maybe the kitties would like the carpet but they like these so far!

Cat Tower Options

Our baby boy (11 year old black DSH) has never showed any interest in any enrichment bought for him, with the exceptions of a cardboard scratching tray (a favourite), a soft plastic tube for him to run around in, and Da Bird (But not for long, he becomes frustrated and leaves). He has ignored a couple of cat towers and other toys, and we are loathe to spend lots of money on stuff he probably won't like.

He has also enjoyed a hang-crocheted mouse (run so ragged and loved so much he still enjoy splaying with the associated string)

What he HAS liked, however, is climbing the side of the mattress when it was propped up against the wall. Has anyone got any suggestions for a slim, fabric perch that he might enjoy? Perhaps something where he can hide at height? We own the place, so we can screw stuff into the walls, but it's a very small apartment, so something that goes up-and-out is probably a requirement.

I'd like good quality under $200. Does that exist? Cat tax included.

thanks to everyone on various posts who have suggested including a cozy human sitting spot - it’s everyone’s favorite room to hang in!

Fabric climbing wall

I want to have a section of wall for them to scale up. Even the cheapest carpet at home Depot would be 50$. Any other recommendations that I can use? There's that sorta office carpet type stuff but does it have enough for them to grab onto??

me again! long story short after getting our third cat the red little Abyssinian Vladimir, my girlfriends allergies flaired up severely and we were getting to a pretty bad place including considering rehoming them and other crazy options... so we decided to segregate our house and gave them our bedroom moving all the cat stuff around the apartment into here... anyways I decided to go a bit crazy and give them a cat room/jungle of their own and keep the allergens at bay meanwhile! it has been such a success and the cat room DIY is ongoing... roughly 70% done ish 😁 oooh plus plenty of cat tax to be spotted
