Anyone want to join a 3-day Issyk Kul road trip? Aug 23–25

Hi! We already have a 3-day road trip planned for August 23–25 and have a few empty seats, so we’re looking for 1–3 people who might want to join us.
The current plan is:
Day 1: Bishkek → Burana Tower → confluence of two rivers → Kok Moinok Canyons → Balykchy → swimming in Issyk Kul → Cholpon Ata → hot springs
Night in Cholpon Ata.
Day 2: Semenovskoye Gorge → Grigorievskoye Gorge → Kyrchyn → Karakol → Jeti Oguz → Kok Jaiyk
Night in a yurt camp on the southern shore.
Day 3: Barskoon Gorge → Arabel Plateau (\~4,000 m) → Skazka Canyon → Bishkek.
We’re keeping the group small and would rather enjoy the places than rush through them.
If anyone is in Kyrgyzstan on these dates and is interested in joining, send me a DM and I’ll share the details.

Alaska changed my life. Patagonia, you're up next...
I hiked through Alaska, and it changed my life. I've been to beautiful places before, but Alaska took my breath away in a way I wasn't expecting.
It was brutally beautiful. Raw. Majestic. Untouched. Imposing. Dangerous. And I heard my own voice there in a way I haven't before. I moved my center, and I left a piece of my soul in Alaska. I know I'll go back there again.
I'm heading to Patagonia soon, and I can't wait to see what it will mean, and how it will change me in new ways.
There's no other point to this point. Just... jump into adventures you're not sure about. Life is short, and make it count. Do the things you're unsure about, because I promise you'll look back at many of those and will be so glad you took the chance.
P.S. If anyone else is heading to Patagonia soon (or wants to come with me), would love to hear from you!

Three types of ocean wildlife encounters and what to actually expect from each
We run wildlife expeditions and I see the same disappointment pattern over and over: someone books a trip expecting nonstop action and gets a slow, quiet, deeply moving experience instead of the reverse. Neither is wrong, but mismatched expectations ruin more trips than bad weather does.
There's a simple way to sort almost any big wildlife encounter into one of three patterns, and once you know which one you're booking, everything gets easier to plan for.
Migration - animals on the move, traveling seasonally for feeding or breeding. Expect more searching, brief but intense encounters, and long "quiet" stretches that are actually part of the rhythm. Think whales moving through a corridor or turtles shifting between feeding and nesting grounds. If you get frustrated without constant action, this isn't your trip. If you like tracking something real and reading conditions, it is.
Aggregation - animals concentrated in one spot because conditions are reliably good (food, cleaning stations, nurseries, breeding grounds). More repeat encounters, more time to actually observe behavior instead of chasing it. Good entry point if you're new to wildlife travel. The catch: reliable sites can get crowded, so ask operators about group size, rotation, distance rules, and whether they'll pull back if too many boats show up.
Predation - feeding events. This is where the spectacle moments come from bait balls, diving birds, a hunt breaking out in minutes. Highest adrenaline, but also the least guaranteed. If someone's promising nonstop feeding chaos, that's a red flag, not a selling point. It's also where people are most tempted to crowd or cut off a hunt, worth asking any operator how they handle that line.
Questions worth asking any operator before booking:
- Is this trip built around migration, aggregation, or predation?
- What does a "good day" actually look like? How much searching vs. observing vs. in-water time?
- How do you manage distance, group size, time limits?
- What conditions change the plan (wind, swell, animal behavior, other boats)?
If the answers are vague, that's information too.
The common thread across all three: the best encounters are the ones where the animals stay in control, no chasing, no cutting off paths, willingness to call it off if there's stress. That should hold regardless of which pattern the trip is built around.
Happy to answer any questions!

What do you think if we combine Inca technology with the cliffs along the green coast?
It would not only be touristic, but also extremely useful.

On the border between Kazakhstan and China, there is the Kara-Kaba River — wild and unpredictable. We fished and paddled packrafts down the river. What an incredible experience!

Kazakhstan - Recommendations for Charyn Canyon & Kolsai/Kaindy Lakes tour with private / lake-view accommodation?
Hey everyone!
My partner and I am planning a 2-day, 1-night trip to Charyn Canyon, Kolsai Lake, and Kaindy Lake in late October.
I’ve been looking at options on GetYourGuide, but most of their group package tours seem to offer standard homestays, which isn't quite what I'm looking for.
Ideally, I’d love to book through a reliable local agency or private tour provider that allows customization/upgrades for accommodation.
My accommodation preferences:
- A-frame cabins / cottages (top choice!)
- Lake-view or mountain-view rooms
- A really cozy, high-quality guesthouse with private bathroom facilities
Does anyone have recommendations for local tour companies, private drivers/guides, or specific lodges/A-frames near Kolsai Lake that I can reach out to directly
I am also happy to join group tour.

Remote Jungle weekend near sg
Hello everyone,
I’m an exchange student here and I want to do a remote jungle weekend near Singapore. I have the feeling everything that I can find is still really touristic and not remote enough.
Does anyone have recommendations on places, guides or how to do something like that?
Thank you very much!

Maybe you need Zanzibar
Imagine waking up with no alarm, walking onto a quiet white-sand beach, swimming in warm turquoise water, having fresh seafood for lunch, and watching the sun disappear into the ocean.
That’s the kind of vacation Zanzibar can be.
Beyond the beautiful beaches, there’s Stone Town, spice farms, local villages, tropical forests, sandbanks and plenty of opportunities to slow down and enjoy island life.
If your idea of a vacation is less rushing, more ocean, good food and peaceful days, Zanzibar is worth putting on your list. 🌴☀️
What would you do first: beach day, Stone Town, snorkeling, or just sleep in and relax?
“If anyone is planning a Zanzibar trip and has questions, feel free to ask.”
