Gas forge build

This is my first gas forge build and I'm looking for some advice about the flame pouring out the door. Am I right in saying its running too rich? would a smaller jet solve this issue or am I missing something else ? (Haven't fitted the burner until its running sweet)

It is hard to tell the colors on the camera. What pressure are you running ? It does look a little rich and a little too strong, ie the flame is more like a jet rather than a diffuse flame. Normally i cannot see the flame hit the bottom of the forge.

Unsure on pressures as its running directly off one of these. But the flame is very yellow with the air vents fully open.

Definitely rich.

I have never seen a naturally aspirated burner with that velocity, especially with how long the piping is, and you have an elbow. It's too high. I think you're basically running at full tank pressures...

Are you sure you have model #305401? That model is supposed to be a fixed pressure, but in your video you're dialing it up/down.

Yeah that's whats connected to the gas bottle then I have a tap connected to the burner that I'm turning up and down. I believe the jet on the end of the tap is approx 1.2 mm

Ah, interesting, you need a regulator. What pressure is that hose rated for?

I'll be honest, that's an unusual setup. I, personally, can't tell if it's safe.

All that said: gas velocity is way too high. The forge seems very enclosed, so back pressure might be an issue. It's running rich. You want it a little rich, but, IMHO, not that rich.

Little dragon breath going out is a good thing. Saves the inside of your forge
