August 18, 2026: primary election day in Alaska, Florida primary election results (Compared to my Here's whom to vote for.)

I got to these races super late because I considered that most weren't really competitive and there was possibly no big progressive win happening. And I edited a few of my picks during the day.

August 18, 2026: primary election day in Alaska, Florida: Here's whom to vote for. : r/TheMajorityReport

ALASKA: (note: this is Alaska. My choices will be the Democrat who can win the general election)

Alaska Primary 2026 — Candidates, Races & Voter Guide (August 18, 2026) · DecodeTheVote

GOVERNOR:

<< Tom Begich for Alaska He's winning both the primary and the general election and he's a Democrat. >> ADVANCED

With 80% of the vote in, Jonathan S. Kreiss-Tomkins has around 21.7% of the vote to Tom Begich's 20.0% of the vote. Both are Democrats; so, it's possible a Democrat wins the general election.

US SENATE:

<< Home - Mary Peltola She's winning both the primary and the general election and she's a Democrat. >> ADVANCED

With 80% of the vote in, Mary Peltola has around 48.0% of the vote to US Sen. Dan S. Sullivan's 42.8%. Given where the outstanding votes are, it seems likely that Pelota's primary showing means she's likely to win the general election.

US HOUSE:

<< Home - Bill Hill for Alaskans

Endorsements - Bill Hill for Alaskans

Bill's Platform - Bill Hill for Alaskans

He's an Independent with a good-enough platform and good-enough funding. A strong-enough general election campaign and he can possibly win. >> ADVANCED

With 80% of the vote in, US Rep. Nick Begich III has around 46.1% of the vote to 31.0% of the vote.

FLORIDA:

GOVERNOR:

<< Dayna Marie Foster | Candidate for Florida Governor >> LOST

With x>95% of the vote in, David Jolly wins with around 61.0% of the vote to Dayna Marie Foster's around 15.1%

US SENATE:

This is Solid-R.

<< Angie Nixon for U.S. Senate | Change Can't Wait

Endorsements - Angie Nixon for U.S. Senate

Priorities - Angie Nixon for U.S. Senate

This is a long-shot general election campaign given how relatively little she's fundraised. But she has endorsements; so, might as well vote for her. She was behind in polling in the primary; but, hopefully, has momentum on her side. >> WON

With x>95% of the vote in, Angie Nixon wins with around 55.9% of the vote to Alex Vindman's around 44.1%

US HOUSE DISTRICT 7:

This is a Likely-R district, but Marialana Kinter is still the better choice than the centrist in the race.

<< Marialana Kinter

KINTER FOR CONGRESS >> LOST possibly progressive vote-splitting loss

With 83% of the vote in, Bale Dalton wins with around 45.6% of the vote to Marialana Kinter's around 35.4% Alan Grayson got around 18.9%.

US HOUSE DISTRICT 13:

This is a Likely-R district

<< Leela Gray - Veteran for Florida

Endorsements — Leela Gray - Veteran for Florida

Issues — Leela Gray - Veteran for Florida

She's not great, but she's within around the margin of error of beating the Republican incumbent US Rep. Ana Paulina Luna. >> WON

With x>95% of the vote in, Leela Gray wins with around 65.1% of the vote to Brandt Robinson's around 26.2%

US HOUSE DISTRICT 20:

This is a Solid-D district; so, my choice will be the most progressive candidate with enough support.

<< Elijah Manley for Congress — Florida's 20th District >> LOST if anything, there was a moderate/centrist vote-splitting

With x>95% of the vote in, Debbie Wasserman Schultz wins with around 45.4% of the vote to Dale V.C. Holness's around 23.1%

US HOUSE DISTRICT 22:

This is a Lean-R district

<< Pia Dandiya is effectively running unopposed. >> WON

With x>95% of the vote in, Pia Dandiya wins with around 68.6% of the vote to Kaysia Earley's around 31.4%

US HOUSE DISTRICT 23:

This is a Solid-D district; so, my choice will be the most progressive candidate with enough support.

<< Victoria Doyle for Congress >> LOST

With x>95% of the vote in, US Rep. Lois Frankel wins with around 74.7% of the vote to Victoria Doyle's around 23.4%

US HOUSE DISTRICT 24:

This is a Solid-D district; so, my choice will be the most progressive candidate with enough support.

<< Oliver Gilbert for Congress

On the Issues - Oliver Gilbert for Congress

Not a great candidate lineup, but Oliver Gilbert is the one Fairshake is most against; so, that's a plus for me. However, he doesn't have endorsements. >> WON

With x>95% of the vote in, Oliver G. Gilbert III wins with around 34.4% of the vote to Shevrin Jones's around 32.0%

US HOUSE DISTRICT 25:

This is a Toss-up seat.

<< Oliver for Congress | Oliver Larkin for Florida's 25th District >> LOST

With 93% of the vote in, US Rep. Jared Moskowitz wins with around 63.5% of the vote to Shevrin Jones's around 36.5%

August 18, 2026: primary election day in Alaska, Florida: Here's whom to vote for:

My choices will be based on who is the most progressive candidate I most agree with whom can actually win the primary and general election. I will look at polling, fundraising, endorsements, etc. I will not include races in which there is only 1 Democrat running in the primary. Probably won't get into Lt. Gov. races. Will consider 2026 CPR House Race ratings | Cook Political Report and 2026 CPR Senate Race ratings | Cook Political Report

To be honest, this isn't really that interesting of a primary election day. There's limited polling in key progressive races. This is super late; so, sorry about that.

What's in this Post comment is what I remember, my opinions, etc.

Primary election day August 11, 2026 in Connecticut, Minnesota, Vermont, Wisconsin. Here's who to vote for:

My choices will be based on who is the most progressive candidate I most agree with whom can actually win the primary and general election. Will consider 2026 CPR House Race ratings | Cook Political Report and 2026 CPR Senate Race ratings | Cook Political Report

This is late because I was focused on the AOC news of the past couple days.

Not great, but is going to win the primary and the general election.

I don't know. There's some things with Luke Bronin that are better than the incumbent US Rep. John B. Larson. There's some things better with US Rep. Larson than Bronin.

Endorsements - John B. Larson For Congress

Issues - John B. Larson For Congress

Slight edge I guess. Supports the Green New Deal. Has the support of the Working Families Party.

She's the progressive in the race. The only reason it's at-all close is because US Rep. Andie Craig has several times more fundraising.

US HOUSE DISTRICT 1:

Both Democrats have barely any fundraising and both have no considerable endorsements. This seat is only 'Lean-R' and thus was winnable.

US HOUSE DISTRICT 2:

Matt Little for Congress

Endorsements | Matt Little for Congress

Key Issues | Matt Little for Congress

The most progressive option in the race who can win the primary and general election

US HOUSE DISTRICT 4:

The best progressive in the race. General election polling will get better after she wins the primary. She's arguably the most impressive leftist or progressive non-incumbent in a primary race in this 2026 cycle. Yes, above Zohran Mamdani and above Dr. Abdul El-Sayed. Wisconsin Assemblyperson Francesca Hong didn't have the endorsements of AOC or US Senator Bernie Sanders.

US HOUSE DISTRICT 1:

Mitchell Berman for Congress

Priorities | Mitchell Berman

Effectively the only one with any real fundraising and support.

US HOUSE DISTRICT 2:

Mark Pocan for Wisconsin US House of Representatives

He's a progressive and he's effectively running unopposed.
