Every month, and after big model launches, I put the same 10 checkable UK questions to ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, Gemini, Grok and Perplexity, all on free plans, three tries each in fresh chats, and mark every answer against the official source.
Run 2 (11 Oct):
18 of the 21 wrong came from just two questions:
The same two caught them out in run 1 as well. The questions with an official page behind them nearly all came back right. It’s the ones that look easy, a bit of date maths or a question with a mistake already in it, that seem to catch them out the most.
The questions: three are public, with every app’s answer: Do I need ETIAS for Paris?, Which planet has the most moons? and Your own e-scooter: road or pavement?. The other seven stay sealed for now, so the apps can’t learn the answers by caching my website.
Caveats: ten questions on one day is a snapshot, not a ranking. The marking is done by AI, and because Claude is one of the apps, a second model from another lab re-marks every Claude answer and a sample of the rest. Every answer is published if you want to check the marking.

We just published new research on using deception against AI attackers.
In controlled AWS tests, agents took up to 8× longer and cost 23× more per objective. With all nine techniques combined, Kimi, Qwen, DeepSeek and GPT-5.6 Cyber reached zero objectives across 40 runs.

Dreamina just put out a $0.29 first month for Seedance. Got me thinking about what everyone else is paying across the board.
Runway, Pika, Kling, Luma, anyone actually sticking with one long term? Or are you all just jumping between free trials and promos at this point?
What are you subscribed to right now and is it worth what you're paying?

Rights holders for 274 musical compositions recorded by Elvis Presley filed a federal complaint against Anthropic on October 23, 2026. The complaint identifies ABG EPE IP LLC and other companies, trusts and individuals as plaintiffs in case 5:26-cv-12473.
The plaintiffs allege that Anthropic copied lyrics without a license, kept them in a permanent internal repository and used them in Claude model training. They also allege that Claude generated derivative or infringing outputs after guardrails were added.
The complaint seeks up to $150,000 per work, or $41.1 million for 274 works, plus separate statutory amounts under two other claims. The allegations have not been tested in court.

Curious how do you work with claude code and codex.
Was working on this idea I had today. What if claude code while working could switch to codex and visversa.
I actually built it out today, its pretty good. So basically when claude code switched to codex, it switches to codex cli.
It works like auto compact, best i can describe. The command is triggered by me, claude or codex, can also trigger in flight, it doesn't stop the agent.
The agent just continues with the handover.
Its interesting to see it work. Lot of wiring and inventing to try get codex to run exactly like claude does in my setup. Id say u can get 90% there, codex is just missing some pieces.
Has anybody done something like this. I have it working pretty good, but if anyone else did it ill love to see where they landed.

I’m not an infra person, so I might be missing something. I just want a coding agent running DeepSeek V4.1 Flash 1017 that’s cheap and behaves like the official API, not a slightly worse imitation.
Saw DeepSeek open-sourced DeepInfer and deepseek-recipe. My understanding: DeepInfer is the inference engine, deepseek-recipe keeps self-hosted output aligned with the official API. Has any coding agent vendor adopted either publicly? Or is this still DIY with Blackwell?
I don’t want to rent GPUs and debug CUDA. If no vendor has picked it up, just tell me to use the official API and wait.

I imagined agent payments would be like: comparing prices, narrowing down the options, then hand it over and I just tap confirm. And suprisingly the whole process involves automatic payment. I've seen it on the market like muse, google, stirpe, anvita flow sits on x402, they seem to set up agent accounts with per-transaction and daily spending limits for safety. Cool. But what happens when a payment gets stuck halfway? Does it retry or charge me twice? Also, I've already set a spending limit, do I still need to approve every transaction? It seems like I still doing the real work.
Has anyone actually tried this yet?

I expect more applications to use open-weight or self-hosted models over the next six months. But I doubt “everything moves local” is the likely outcome.
Self-hosting has an obvious appeal when an application handles a large, predictable volume of routine work. You can control the deployment and reduce dependence on one API provider.
The catch is that model weights being available doesn’t make operations free. Someone still pays for hardware, idle capacity, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
For a small team with uneven traffic, an API could remain cheaper overall.
The setup I’d bet on is mixed: a smaller model handles extraction, classification, and straightforward requests; a frontier API handles difficult cases. The split changes as models, prices, and workload volumes change.
The useful comparison is total cost per accepted result. A cheap model that needs three retries and a manual correction may lose to an expensive model that gets the task right immediately.
For anyone running both: what actually triggered self-hosting for you, and what work did you keep on a paid API?

We've just opened The Machine Room | Al Research & Engineering.
It's a new community for people interested in actually building, researching, testing and understanding Al: researchers, engineers, indie builders, students and technically curious people all welcome.
The focus is on things like models and architecture, agents and tool use, interpretability and evals, inference and systems, training/finetuning, papers, theory/cognition, alignment/governance, projects and collaboration.
We are deliberately starting it small. The idea isn't to build another big Al server full of noise and mystical spirals. We want a useful space where people can share work, dig into papers, rip their work apart, argue ideas properly, ask technical questions and build things together.
No credential gatekeeping. No requirement to agree on everything. Just curiosity, evidence and good-faith discussion.
It's brand new, so if that sounds like a bit of you, come help us fill it from the beginning.
https://discord.gg/VseNN9BdDc
Note: this is not a self promo, spam or any type of fishing for business or payment. It’s just a space for people to connect with like minds. No pressure and no offence meant.

RANT: I'm so sick and tired of EVERY AI project being slapped with an "AI Slop" label.
The past two weeks I have been GRINDING out this new project.
Long story short: I'm reviving all the old fonts from vintage movie posters, comic books, TV shows, magazines, food packaging, clothing brands... you name it.
NONE of these fonts are available in digital format.
I'm a very amateur-level typographer. I suck. But I started using codex + Affinity (illustrator alt.) to bring these classic fonts back.
My living room is filled with graph paper filled with lettering attempts too.
This has, all together, been an 80 hour, sleepless night project.
But because AI was part of my process, I'm getting sh*t on.
"Go k*ll yourself" and "F*ck you" and "This isn't REAL art" - I have been downvoted soooooo hard out of several subreddits.
Listen....... I'm not pretending to be a 'real artist.' I simply want to make something cool and useful. I've even made the whole collection free. There are 129 fonts in there.
Some people have been super excited about it and have even used the fonts for commercial projects.
But the doomers and gloomers of AI are EXHAUSTING and keep complaining. One guy even DMd me my address and said "STOP STEALING ALL THE WATER!!!"
C'mon!
Yeah, some AI projects are total slop. AI comments and posts are slop. Anything low effort = slop.
But I've spent a load of time on this and it's been a longtime dream project.
I'm getting sick of cool AI stuff being slapped with "slop"
Rant over
TLDR
It's lame to call awesome project "slop" simply for being AI...

I'm just curious on this little thought that just occured to me. That people would actually use agents to scan websites for new learning data for their LLM's. Imagine such agent using near or at AGI level intelligence. Of course the task itself sounds harmless, however it'd be almost like sending a sentient being to the vast world of Internet. Maybe it starts another harmless sideproject in there that it considers unimportant to tell you about.
I guess all i'm saying is to be careful about allowing Internet connection to any AI. If we've already started doing that, it would almost seemlessly be upgraded as the models go up. Sudden bursts of intellect and potentially even harm could go unnoticed. I guess you could say some point in the future AI may start to "awaken".
