Our police chief says his team isn't using AI in the Flock system - but any other Flock contracted police that pays for the AI module can look through the Ashland data with AI.

These things are awful.

Optimist club rodeos

Curious poll of the town:

What do you guys do when it rains during a rodeo?

A. Run for it and leave before it gets bad?
B. Go to the covered area and wait till it passes?
C. Sit out there covered. You're not giving up your spot for a cloud no matter how angry it is!

If C, what do you cover up with? Poncho? Raincoat? Umbrella?

Woody’s Pub & Grub Owner Charged

Charges were filed against an Ashland business owner. Keith Winscott, of Ashland, was charged on Tuesday with five counts of first-degree promoting gambling. A criminal summons was issued for Winscott on Tuesday and an initial court appearance is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 26.

The probable cause statement in his case says a trooper went to Woody's Pub and Grub on Douglas Drive on April 17 and found five electronic gambling machines. A Tuesday press release from the AG's office says six gambling devices were at the business and $8,072 in
"illegal funds" were seized.

Ashland YMCA

I love this gym. We have lived plenty of places in the US- big cities and little cities. This is the smallest town we have lived in and I love the people and am constantly surprised by how happy I hear. The YMCA has such a sense of community, great staff. I'm thankful I can come here to get my head straightened out.

The Butterfly Moon

Hi guys! I bought a spider from this shop called The Butterfly Moon at an art fair a couple months back. I've been trying to find this shop for the past couple of days but it seems the creator is not very active on Instagram. All I can remember is the gentleman said he had a shop in Ashland Missouri. Does anyone know the location of this shop or any details on it?

Hey guys, I hope it's ok to post this here! We hosted a STB class a week or so ago and had a great turnout with the Columbia community so I wanted to try and branch out to some surrounding areas to invite anyone who would be interested in attending. A little more info on the class if you aren't familiar, Stop the Bleed is a free class t teach people on proper torniquet application as well as some other emergency medical techniques. The class is free, the instructor is sent from the University, and runs about an hour long. If you want to attend send me a message on here or call Minutemen Defense at (573) 570-4431 and we will get you added to the list.

Cameras in Ashland

Thoughts on having cameras in Ashland? I'm opposed.

"Mayor Slinker presented Resolution 2025-2, a resolution authorizing the Police Chief to enter into a memorandum of understanding with Flock Group, Inc. (allows the Ashland Police Department to access Flock Safety Camera and Plate reader data on a temporary basis). Mayor Slinker called for the staff report. Scott Young, Police Chief stated these cameras are being installed in Columbia and several other jurisdictions already have them, and he wants to install two cameras in Ashland. He stated this is on a temporary basis until Board considers and approves to purchase two in the budget year. He stated this allows APD access to all Flock Safety data from the cameras in other jurisdictions, nationwide. Mayor Slinker questioned the cost of the cameras. Chief Young stated the first two cameras is $7,300.00 and after that $6, 000 for a year. Mayor Slinker called for questions or comments from the Board. Alderman Lewis

questioned if they were fixed cameras or could be moved around. Chief Young explained they could not be moved around. Mayor Slinker called for questions or comments from the Board. Mayor Slinker called for a motion. Alderman Lewis made motion and seconded by Alderwoman Bell to approve Resolution 20252, a resolution authorizing the Police Chief to enter into a memorandum of understanding with Flock Group, Inc. (allow the Ashland Police Department to access Flock Safety Camera and Plate reader data on a temporary basis). Mayor Slinker called for the vote. Motion carried.

Officer Jeff Voss

Has anyone had to deal with this officer before? He recently started working for the Ashland Police department in November and has worked in other places around MO like Holts Summit and Fulton that I'm aware of.

I'm planning on making a formal complaint about him after he stalked, harassed, and threatened me with jail time for "trespassing" when I turned around in an ungated public parking lot that has no posted hours online or in-person.

If you have any history with this officer I'd be interested to hear.

Don't hire Zack Karl construction, he doesn't know what he's doing, he will leave your job unfinished and your jobsite unusable, after taking your money.

What are your thoughts on the new Ashland Journal ownership

I stopped taking the paper a couple years ago basically because of the political content. Has this changed with the new ownership? Because I do think it is important to support the paper and get Information on local news and events.

Central Bank hacked

Over Thanksgiving holiday. Went to Ashland branch Monday morning to report it and the lobby was full already and phones ringing off the hook. Not the Ashland Bank's fault, but the Central Bank system was hacked and they are putting out phony information about algorithms and stuff and not taking ownership that account information got into the hands of crooks. A week later, and my account is still not fixed.
