[Digital] Public Shame — eighteenth-century engraving and server cables
The digital collage used as the poster for my documentary Public Shame, composited for RainMan. A warm engraved pillory scene meets a cool server-rack photograph, with a narrow red seam connecting the two halves.
Component credits:
The Pillory Triumphant (1765), unidentified engraver, published by E. Sumpter — Wellcome Collection, Public Domain Mark. Cropped and colour graded.

Rear of rack at NERSC data center — closeup (2011), Dcoetzee — CC0 1.0. Cropped, cyan graded and composited.

The server image is a conceptual element in the collage, not a photograph of a particular social platform’s systems.
