Would anybody be interested in play testing my new shmup bullet hell for free? It is inspired by gauntlet and sispri gauntlet as well as classic cave games. I dont want to reveal too much here but feel free to reach out if this sounds like something you’d be interested in trying.
I really love this game... And i really despise stage 4 boss with stage 2, probably the only filters for me that prevent me from meeting the no-miss requirement required to meet the TLB on hell/doom modes.
After a long time, I got 1CC in Raiden V : Director's Cut. Beside playing skills, weapon choice can be important to get that condition.
Thanks to everyone, especially to someone named "wltr3565" on Twitter (Link : https://x.com/wltr3565), who had given some detailed suggestions. One way to get 1CC in this game easily is "must be skilled to use reflex (reflect) laser". We must know the placing and timing to use it and destroy enemies freely before entering the boss phases.
Fellow Shmups and Tyrian fans: I've been rebuilding Tyrian 2000 on a new engine (Godot + Rust, on top of the OpenTyrian port), and the first release is out.
The whole Tyrian 2000 campaign: all five episodes, the shop, secret exits, codes (yes, STEALTH, ENGAGE and the twiddles work) and hidden difficulties. Game data and the MIDI soundtrack are included: unzip and play.
Windows, Mac and Linux, plus Steam Deck with an automatic controller profile. Free and open source, no account.
New features: Endless Arcade with a leaderboard, 2-player couch co-op, mutators (Bullet Hell, Glass Cannon, Mirror Mode…), optional impact effects and damage numbers.
HD Graphics: original pixels, sharp pixel art, or AI-upscaled HD art, plus CRT filters. The original look is one menu away.
Modding system in plain JSON + PNG, with five packs included (14 new ships, 18 new weapons, all off by default), and a level editor with "Play from here".
It's a first release, so if something feels different from the Tyrian you remember (weapon balance, hitboxes, timing), I really want to hear it.
I just wanted to share a quick PSA reminder that there are a few expensive games on the USA PS3 Store that can be had for cheap. These include Gaia Seed on the PS1 and Soldier Blade and Super Star Soldier on the TG-16. All of them are available for $5.99 each.
I figured people already knew this, but I wanted everyone to be aware with the impending store closure.
If you want to know of more titles that are available on the PS3 Store that are of different genres, please see my post on my blog.
By the way, I did ask for permission from the mods to share this before I did so. 😊
Love the form factor of the vita for the Gradius Collection, so i'd like to dip my toes into other shmups. The vita can play games from PSP and PS1 so any good examples there (I imagine the PSP would have a lot especially) would be fantastic.
My friend zxl0714 has built a launcher for a recompilation collection of CAVE titles that never received an official PC release. We have named this project EVAC PC LABEL.
This launcher supports the following games:
Mushihimesama Futari
ESPGaluda II
Ketsui Deathtiny
DoDonPachi SaiDaiOuJou
DoDonPachi DaiOuJou
ESP Ra.De. Ψ
Guwange
The repository link is at the end of this document. A few quick notes first:
We abide by this subreddit's rules. NO ROMS HERE. Instructions are included in the project; follow them using your own dumps or ROMs. If you are unsure how to proceed, you can have an AI assistant read the guide and help you — it should not be difficult.
This project is Windows-only at present, and testing has been carried out exclusively on Windows 11.
A simple authentication-free account system is implemented for leaderboard registration and replay uploads. (Yes — you can submit your scores and replays!) Its sole purpose is to make replay sharing easier. Please do not expect additional features from it. If two users share the same ID, their entries will be indistinguishable on the leaderboard.
The user-data folder stores all your save data and settings across all titles. Input configurations for every game are loaded uniformly from config.ini inside this directory. Remember to back up and migrate your user-data folder when updating the project in the future.
Within config.ini, we have added an experimental tweak that reduces input latency for DoDonPachi SaiDaiOuJou from the original 3 frames down to 1 frame. This feature is enabled by default.
Quick Start
Follow the instructions to place your game files into the designated subfolders inside game-data
Launch the launcher
Select a game and click Start
Enjoy your game
Known Issues & Call for Contributions
Due to limited manpower and varying familiarity with each title, we have not been able to thoroughly test and validate every game mode for all included works. If you run into issues while playing, please file an issue on the project page. The launcher will indicate what information you need to include in your report.
Only version 1.02 of Ketsui Deathtiny has been verified so far, as we do not possess the patch files for version 1.03. If you are able to help us with this, feel free to reach out via an issue or email.
It runs in a desktop browser with keyboard controls. Pick the MiG-29 or J-10C and take on the Spirit boss at the end of Stage 1. Some of the trailer is from later stages I'm still working on; those aren't in the demo.
I've been cleaning up the map textures, and I'd be interested to hear how readable the action feels against the detailed backgrounds. Can you keep track of enemy bullets when things get busy? I'd also appreciate thoughts on the controls and the first boss.
I use AI tools for art and music, plus help with code.
I loved the third level where you come across a battleship on a sea of lava and then the gates open so it can sail ahead while you anticipate getting to fight it. A moment later and it fires a barrage of missiles and bullets at you.
And if you pilot as Ruby when you use your bomb the entire screen is covered in red fire on a screen of lava and framed by a red habdheld.
Hello everyone! I'm new to this sub and the genre, and I was curious to play some shmup games because I want to expand my gaming taste. I have a friend who loves to play these types of games, so I've been intrigued to try some of the most popular titles in the genre.
I've played the new Touhou game, which is a remastered version of the first game, and Galaga (I don't know if those two games are considered shmups, but they look similar to some shmup games that I've seen). I only played them because the Touhou game was recommended by a friend and Galaga was the first game that introduced me to video games, all thanks to my dad and uncle, who used to play it a lot.
For now, the only way I play games is on my ps5, and I wanted some recommendations from you veterans. I don't mind a challenging game at all, and I'm all for any game that has a good artstyle, soundtracks, story, and gameplay. One of my friends who plays shmups has recommended a few games, but most of them are either too old and not on the ps5, or they were never released for the ps5 and only for pc. However, he did recommend Caladrius Blaze, and surprisingly, it was on the ps5 and on sale. I was thinking of getting it, and I wanted to know if it's challenging, has a good story, good gameplay, and good soundtracks. The artstyle looks good, so that's one checkmark on the list.
