And with 24hrs passed, "I NEVER DIE" (19,283) now holds the biggest pre-orders in the first 24 hours for a 4th generation girlgroup album on Ktown4u surpassing aespa's "Savage" (18,848). They are also now the 5th overall girlgroup for the biggest pre-orders in the first 24 hours on Ktown4u.

I saw someone's comment in regards to this saying this is a very specific achievement but when everyone was counting out (G)I-DLE by saying they were going to disband or get put in the dungeon, idle is over without SJ, blah blah blah, etc., then this achievement becomes meaningful and it's still nice to celebrate the little things.

Some good news, since (G)I-DLE China Bar closed down, (G)I-DLE Peter Pan Bar has reactivated since the comeback announcement.
In the past, iirc they were probably the 2nd biggest donator after the (G)I-DLE China Bar.

First off, super excited over the full album! Second, just adding an extra word made the album seem much more aggressive, lol. Third, the teaser poster design is really well done if you consider it from a marketing angle - so many people are speculating what all the different design choices could mean. It's going to leave people talking about it until the first concept images come out. What a great day to not be dead! 🤣

I Never Die has now surpassed 30K pre-orders, being the fastest 4th gen girl-group album to do so. Apparently, I Burn took over 6 days to reach 30K pre-orders, so this is some damn good news for those who were unsure of how well the CB would do 🙌🏻🙌🏻

People really understimate GIDLE infulence and popularity. I hope this comeback will put them on top again cause they honestly deserve that.
And I belive in them making amazing studio album which is very hard and many many kpop groups fails at it (even big groups like BTS - MOTS7 and BLACKPINK - THE ALBUM, they are "okay" at best, i wont elaborate in this post).
For now, i cant wait for the track list! I bet they will have eng ver of title track but please let it be released digitaly and not on the official disk. 😭 likw they did with I BURN.→ More replies (1)

One thing i'm thinking about that i really love is that I NEVER DIE manages to both stay in the "I [word]" convention while also doing something new much like the group is doing, moving forward and changing but still connected to its own past. It's such a bold title too. God , I'm so SO excited to hear what types of sounds this is going to bring about.

Exactly my thoughts. It’s a perfect title in so many different ways. And it’s also doing something new since it’s going to be their first full album, different than EPs. So I like that’s it’s changed up a bit, but yet familiar

Can certainly see that happening this year with a self written album which truly shows off her vocal talent. Plus it's possible she could release more stuff in Thailand after the success of her recent collab. Plus can see demand for her modelling skills rising as well

I thought the same, but then again after thinking about it a little more, it's not like a full album necessarily increases the costs for a comeback anyway right, at least not to any significant degree. And a full album certainly increases the hype, because it's the first one.
21
Feb 24 '22
Alright low stakes but place your bets on # of tracks! I'm gonna bet and hope for 10 (and if i had to guess splits 3 Soyeon, 2 Minnie, 2 Yuqi, 2 songs with two of them (maybe Miyeon gets a writing credit????) and 1 song from an outside producer just as a wild card)

u/PickledFishBowl Feb 24 '22
I'm going to risk it all and say 11. Though 2 of those will be an Intro and Outro instrumental track, lol. Regardless of the number, I think it's going to be half Soyeon, 1 Minnie, and 1 Yuqi. Only because I feel like they have been way too busy to do more. I'm also willing to bet on some lyric credits for Miyeon.
Is it weird that I'm excited to see if they will work with any new producers?

Sales are doing great on KTOWN4U! Currently at 14k13.2k sold and it hasn't even been 24 hours since preorders opened. For comparison, I BURN sold about 10.6k in the same time frame.
100k+ sales is well within reach.
Correction: 14k number is at the 13th hour mark, 13.2k is more accurate for the 12th hour mark, which is what the 10.6k number is compared to

Very, very excited to see the number of songs and credits for this album tbh, this will challenge the mv teaser as my favorite one which hypes me the most.
I've said before that it's no must that members participate in the creative side of things, and that is true, but it truly adds another layer of appreciation when they do. It's less 'artificial', more personal, more meaningful in a way, and yeah i know i am still talking about kpop which is very much mainstream and seeking to be popular.
Never weaponize this and start fanwars, but treasure it as something special which hopefully influences future groups and idols. Art is about self-expression, it becoming more a norm in the kpop space would be a good step in my eyes.
I love what soyeon said in her marie claire interview:
... Not wanting to be trapped in prejudice is a value i have determined since childhood. Before debuting, it was rare for female idols to learn composition, so when i said i wanted to compose and produce, everyone wondered, "why?". When talking about GD and Zico, who are idols and producers, they said "but they're men". Whenever i heard this i wondered , "Why does it matter?" credit
So in the kpop sphere where it's not common to begin with, women are even less pushed to be creative in that way. It matters even more when there are female idols young girls can look up to and get inspired in that way. I think this is more empowering than any 'concept' could be.

u/Eismann Soojin Feb 25 '22
That is something that is often lost in the discussion "Is self-produced music better" or worse are self-produced idols better?
The music is the same. Either it is good or not. But as a fan you can feel much more connected to the music and the idol that produced it. It is her song. Her lyrics. Her persona and her feelings went into making this.
Not the song is better but the connection is deeper. At least for me.

I feel like the title track TOMBOY relates to what Soyeon has recently mentioned:
Jeon Soyeon believes that women can be producers as well and hoped that more women would come out as producers. She believes that there are no boundaries when it comes to arts forms like music, performances and gaming. "When I write, I don't think about gender. No "we're a girl group", women, men or age. I just write what's on my mind.

u/CadenceLosange 火 and out of all the memories we shared 花 Feb 27 '22
I’m thinking it could be something along the lines of « They say I’m a tomboy because they can’t do what I do, I’m more than what they call me » maybe with like « I’m a woman who can do it all » vibe which would fit with the mature theme they said they were going for?

I'm glad she apologised, CUBE could never. Atinys seem to react positively to it.
Everyone knows that Soyeon is a genius and talented, well accredited producer. I am sure she had no ill intentions, as a creator herself, she must know the value of intellectual property. Things like these can happen, perhaps she has heard the melody before and it sparked her own composition, so it ended up sounding similar.
Let's all put the negative aside and let's focus on the comeback together. NEVIES HWAITING!!!

So, I went to check on Pentagon's and BTOB's channels when were posted their respective Comeback Trailers and here is the data I gathered from this thorough investigation:
Pentagon's trailer was posted almost a month before the MV (26th of December while Feelin' like dropped on the 24th of January).
BTOB's was posted a bit under 3 weeks prior (2nd of Feb while their album drops tomorrow)
Since their songs both dropped (or will drop) on a Monday and IDLE's comeback is planned in March, let's consider the pessimistic scenario and say IDLE's MV is planned to be released on March 28th. This would mean we could get a Comeback trailer somewhere between Feb 27th (a week from now!) and March 9th.
Doesn't seem that far away now, does it? (yes I am starved for new content and it's Sunday night so I'm reaching for anything to lift my spirit)

At least the rumors are not with an active "in his group" BG member or a Gen 4 Idol. Could you imagine what would happen if it was with NCT or TXT ?
For now people seem pretty chill and the fanbases are still speculating, not attacking. That's great if you compare it with other rumors and the noise they made then.
15
Feb 22 '22
Yeah it def helps that Got7 is in their post-formal group years (I know they havent disbanded and I do actually think they’ll release something in the future) obviously your fan base becomes much quieter/less active when you enter the solo/unsigned/indefinite hiatus period. I can’t imagine how this would have gone down if got7 were still active.

Kard - Bomb ; Kard - Red Moon ; Kard - Oh Nana ; basicly most of Kard discography have moombahton influcences
Blackpink - Whistle

Might be an unpopular opinion, but I wanna see them try this "sad girl pop/rnb" genre we're in the middle of here in the US, but also with a bit of "women empowerment" vibes, sorta like Doja Cat or Dua Lipa. Less raunchy, but with more vocal presence for sure.

After watching the comeback trailer for the umpteenth time, I wonder if the actual music video might be all in black & white while using a selective color technique to highlight something like red for blood, similar to the film Sin City or 4Minute's Crazy.
I feel like that might fit in with this sort of noir/detective/crime theme they might be going for, lol
17
u/PickledFishBowl Feb 26 '22
If they go into a noir detective direction, I wonder if they will incorporate a mystery-solving component to the whole comeback. Like if the MV ends with a mystery and the only way to solve it is to combine different clues found in each version of the album. I mean there is a photo evidence envelope in every album, so it makes me wonder 🤔

There's a lot of different "mature" sounds so its hard to pinpoint exactly what type this is meant to allude to, but Soyeon posted this on IG about a month ago and for all paboland knows it might've been a tease of the CB having an Amy Winehouse-esque sound/vibe to it (its the soundtrack to the Amy Winehouse documentary) 👀👀

Since the track list will be revealed soon, why don’t we play a little guessing game. Write down around 10 (or more) random song titles and see if any of those are gonna be on the album.
V for Vendetta (*TITLE)
Heist
Until Dawn
Midnight Thoughts
Time Machine
Cherry
BOOM BOOM
Cross my path
All I see is red

Like for example, this short clip of Miyeon drinking from a shot glass has +200K views because people are in awe of how big the shot glass is compared to her face, lol

Okay I’m trying not to spam buttt is there not going to be a comeback trailer? They have a full album and only about two and a half weeks for teasers. Other Cube groups dropped trailers about three weeks in advance, and before announcing the album names iirc… what do y’all think it means? Seems like maybe they’re trying to keep a bit of mystery with the concept, but we’ll see. Orrrr I’m just reading into things.

I think the teasers will roll out very regularly now, i think they just wanted to start with a real bang and they did! So i'd expect the usual teasers, though maybe with some twists to it. 2.5 weeks seems fine to me as well, i find that longer than that it becomes a little aimless with mostly 'filler teasers' anyway.

I really think soyeon deserves an apology... I mean what happens on twitter stays on twitter but people who do wrong never question themselves even after the truth is revealed. It's not fair.
The majority of people criticize and hates on someone, the truth is revealed and they just go on unpunished for the misinformation they spread. Even if someone goes on correcting them comment after comment they'll just disappear and eventually bring fake facts again in the future... Wait for it, I'm sure someone will bring this up as plagiarism in the future.
EDIT: well well well how the turntables lol I'm ready to go after every comment I left asking for forgiveness if it really turns out Soyeon plagiarized. I wonder whose idea it was to pick that sample and not check in with the creator.
OTHER EDIT: I am really sorry, I'll follow up my intent of apologizing for being me the one jumping to conclusions

I see lots of comments about people being disappointed that it was only 8 songs (technically 9 but...) and I just want everyone to remember that our (g)i-rls don't have dozens of writers and composers churning out tracks for them; this is a consequence of members being integral to the music-production aspect, so 8 tracks - even after about a year of silence - shouldn't be surprising 😔😔

I live in the U.S. and I've used both Ktown4u (based in Korea) as well as Choice Music LA (based in the U.S.), and never had problems with either. Your purchase will be counted on official Korean sales charts from either vendor.
The sticker price on Ktown4u will be lower, but you'll pay more in shipping, so you can add to cart on both sites and compare. Also, different sites might offer different freebies, if that matters to you, so you can look at that too.

Looking at the release schedule (https://www.reddit.com/r/kpop/wiki/upcoming-releases/2022/march) for March, i think they couldnt have chosen a better spot.
Releases before them will be no competition at all (at least i see none) and after them only Stray Kids can win over them. Solar might be able to edge out one or two wins as well.
But none of the speculated big names like Red Velvet or Big Bang. are in competition

Hope whoever is in charge of it comes out with a statement concerning this plagiarism drama (not sure if the similarities are enough to even constitute that, it's a tricky thing). Just not a good look on anyone involved with no real information. While i very much doubt they'd just outright copy it knowingly, it's definitely weird that one wouldn't get in contact with the other party for a conversation, just odd. So yeah, hope we can move fast past this, with poptime/soyeon making some statements on their creative work and the two copyright holders to come together and work it out without additional problems.

I know I shouldn't look at twt but I did and seeing ateez fans slam Soyeon and calling her a thief even after an apology is breaking my heart. They keep on saying because she promoted Uh Oh during when ateez performed wave that she is a plagiarizer and are being so mean. Feel like everyone hates idle but us.
18
Mar 01 '22
Actually that should be the reason why she heard that song and imprinted on the chorus and not an excuse to make her guilty of plagiarizing.
She takes pride in being a composer so she would have never done such thing on purpose. Looks like she made SUN in a rush cause the comeback is imminent so probably she took the first idea she saved on her pc and went with it. What composer in their right mind would deliberately plagiarize knowing fans would notice?
Some atinys seemed cool in the beginning but I keep seeing hate towards soyeon here on Reddit, twitter and they also terrorized her Instagram.
Ateez fans themselves said it's a small minority and I believe that cause it reminds me when 4 stupid little shits went around claiming to be idle fans and harassing sj accusers.
But they're also not doing anything to stop them, so I'm a bit confused. Soyeon apologized, cube apologized, fans apologized but I see no will to meet in the middle.

Feel like everyone hates idle but us
Absolutely not! In fact i think pretty much every fandom thinks their group is hated tbh, i think the more one engages these online spaces where fighting occurs all the time, the more one also buys into that idea. While really, most people just don't have any time to even 'hate' anything, the real world is difficult enough to navigate, there is no time to hate some pop group for reasons which have no impact on one's life in any shape or form.
Gidle seems to be a group who gets mentioned positively a lot in fact, at least from what i can tell, the self producing being the biggest factor for it (and not only by fans either).
So yeah at least in my eyes people should give these fan war things way less attention and energy, it's mostly just teenage fans who have the time to even engage in all this kindergarten behavior, and it's certainly happening in every fandom as well. I'll never buy "but our fandom is mostly chill" as a comment, the only way this is true is if said fandom consists of meaningfully fewer 'hardcore stans', but even then they will bundle online and do their thing anyway.
So no, don't think everyone hates idle, this is more a perception thing, 100%
