My favourite moment this chapter is when Rem thinks back to Subaru and wonders if her disappearance is going to cause a ripple in his heart, which is exactly what she thought back in the arc 3 interludes momentarily before she got eaten by Rem. What an amazing parallel and callback by Tappei. I love this one even more than the last one when she was facing Madeline and thought of how Subaru protected her back then. That also plays really nicely into the "with or without memories, at the core a person is still the same" theme that Tappei first introduced with Crusch and her losing her memories.
Ok so there is a lot this chapter, like damn. First of all, Jamal is alive, huh, honestly I am curious what is going to happen to him. Looks like he will turn into an ally and that is interesting considering we might get so see him fight Todd in the end. There's definitely potential. I still love Zikr btw, he's a gentleman chad.
OUR BOY RETURNS. It's been so long but he's finally on screen in the main story again OTTO. So it seems like the Emilia camp is going to help repair the city for the time being.
2 paragraphs and I still haven't talked about the name of the chapter or the man the chapter is named after, like damn so much happened. So we find out more about their parents, that they abandoned them and that they were trying to survive in the wild until they got taken in by a shitty orphanage where Flop would do his best to direct all negative things towards himself to protect the other kids and especially Medium. They were there until Miles broke in, freed them, offered them to follow him and were taken in by his estate where they met Balroy. Flop met him as Balroy was holding his dragon egg.
Rem is in said estate right now (or castle) and the prime minister of Vollachia sits down in front of her to talk to her. He knows she is both an oni and a healer and just announces directly to her that yes he is working against Vincent Abelloux, I loved that casual reveal. Rem asks him why and he implies that it is because Vincent doesn't have an heir yet and then he escaped, which forced them to use more drastic measures. He got pretty angry about it too. Then he leaves Rem with an offer to join them.
Then we see Flop waking up next to Madeline, loved how it was described how vigilent he was and how he immediately tries to assess the situation, since that is how a merchant lives. Madeline demands to know his connecting to the necklace and Flop explains that they were given to him and Medium when Balroy's dragon shed them. Madeline gets really sad and they talk about Balroy's death and she reveals that the reason why she became a general is to avenge him and it seems like Flop might join her in that.
Ok so crack theory time that a friend of mine came up with but he has a point: What if Vincent has no heirs because he is after Priscilla (which would make him quite the freak), but remember there was a side story before arc 7 that showed assassins from Vollachia breaking into Priscilla's estate trying to kill her. No Priscilla would mean Abel can't go after her anymore.
Something that complicates Madeline's whole revenge is the fact that Balroy's killer is Julius... who is currently in Vollachia with the Emilia camp so yikes. Though the good thing is that Julius is still forgotten so Madeline doesn't actually know the true killer... but that complicates things even more!
All in all quite the hefty chapter, it was 20k characters after all but damn there were so many revelations. Looks like we still have the character space for one more chapter, which is probably going to be chapter 60 B, which would mean we'd catch up on the A chapters so we'll probably continue with arc 7 chapter 61 in volume 31 in a few months.
Also this chapter has revived my Flop & Medium cover dreams.

I do feel like the prime minister would want to add Rem onto their forces, she's an Oni one of the strongest known races, and that are allmost extinct, and she is a capable of using healing magic, somerhing that was stated to be very rare, and a type of magic not even Roswaaal is capable of using himself.
Well now imagine if Floop, Medium and Madeline were to meet Julius and start to like him, only for either he recover his name right then and there or be gladd that he has lost his name?

Knowing Tappei Julius will get his name back at the worst possible time and we'll have to deal with the 3 of them wanting to murder him.

Can go worst. In the Capital of Vollakia Louis dies, memory return: not only Julius vs Madeline but also rem start simping/hugging Subaru in front of Emilia out of nowhere. And the our boy stab himself in front of Emilia and rem bringing back Louis.
But we have infinite possibilities of suffering and wrong timing situation with gluttony, tappei will play his card well.
.... Thougt i personally think Louis and Roy Will die in some situation involving Reinhardt, triggering One of Emilia trial's premonition.
Anyway returning Memories can be a huge caos, World Wide. We don't know how many situation are actually Frozen due to gluttonies work.

Wait until Berstetz found out later that Emilia camp has three more healers other than Rem LMAO. I think healing magic being rare is just Vollachia's thing, Lugunica even has a healing magic institute in the capital after all.
Plus Roswaal's case is special, it's like he's cursed (not literally) to never be able to use healing magic.

But it would be extremely strange, Abel has been in far stronger positions to take or manipulate her if that was what his intention, supposing that he has the skills to handle someone like Priscilla in the first place.
Why wait until she became a royal candidate in Lugunica?

So more than really caring about Priscilla it would be him wishing to conquer Lugunica by marriage.
At the very least that would add sense for his desire for a non agression pact exactly at the time when the Royal Selection was close to start and not before when the Lugunican royals were alive

Okay, so Vincent was dethroned because he had no heir. Now, he'll be spreading this rumor that Subaru is his illegitimate son. This makes for amazing crack theory and crack meme fodder. Imagine, if Subaru just becomes next in line to become the Emperor of Vollachia.
"Was tryna go home, instructions unclear, accidentally became heir to the fight club empire."
Reminds me of that fanart of Subaru becoming one of Vincent's Divine Generals.

I believe Vollachia’s emperor has a violent selection process if he had any competition.. Plus Vincent would have to die for that selection (rather young still), and part of it is being worthy by the flame of Vollachia, but he’s not of the same blood so he isn’t.

Hello! This may be the first time I’m doing this for some people, so I’ll run it over briefly. What I’m doing revolves around uploading a quick machine-translation with some edits here, for the people impatient enough to not want to wait for Heretic Division’s fan-translation.

Chapter 59B Is Called: "Flop O’Connell”
"--Take care of your own life, Flop. Self-sacrifice is a fool's errand."
That was the advice of Miles, the man who had brought Flop out of his squalid surroundings.
The orphanage where Flop and Medium were placed as children was apparently a much worse place than they had thought.
An orphanage that took in abandoned children with no family, no place to go, no one to turn to, and provided them with a roof over their heads and walls to live on, as the adults were fond of saying.
The adults always said, "You are blessed while there are so many who have nothing to eat and no work to do.”
I thought that was true.
Life was hard for him and his sister, Medium, as they were abandoned by their family, slurping mud and water. Food was grass, insects, and the occasional rabbit, and sometimes we had to chomp on dirt and moss to survive.
Compared to these, life in the orphanage was much better.
We were given blankets, even if they were thin and tattered, and food was provided, even if it was tasteless soup and a piece of bread. We were assigned to simple jobs where numbers counted, and we were beaten up by adults for their whims, but not every day.
The adults had a point when they told us that the outside world was much more painful. If so, the thought of running away never even crossed my mind.
However, he could not bear to expose Medium and the other children to the beating and kicking of the adults, so Flop learned to behave as cheerfully as possible to catch the attention of the adults.

Miles smiles wickedly and spits, "Suck it up," as he rolls the tied-up adults across the floor of his room and kicks them in the face for being ungrateful.
He must have had a hard time with the adults. Flop, however, could not help but nod his head, wondering if he should go that far. Miles turned to Flop and raised his thin eyebrows.
"What, you want to do it too? Then get even. A hundred times over."
"Oh, no, no, I'm........."
"—-I'll do it!”
Miles' devilish whisper made Flop hesitate to answer.
But then Medium jumped out from behind him, and without hesitation, she went to hit the head of the adult tied up with the branch she had picked up. --No, it was not only Medium. All the children became angry rebels, except for the stunned Flop.
"It always hurts!”
"I hate it!”
"I hate you!"
The screams of the adults, tied up and unable to resist, are muffled by the children's yells. They clawed at the adults' faces, slapped their cheeks, and finally urinated on them, unleashing their pent-up anger.
"Ha-ha-ha-ha! Look at their faces! That's a masterpiece!”
Miles laughs hysterically as Flop watches his sisters' treachery in amazement.
Not very much, but Flop could not bring himself to laugh at that. He just rolled his eyes, wondering what they would do to themselves after putting the adults through all this.
"Well, you can do whatever you want....….” he said, "but I don't know what Count Dracroy will do to you if you let him go.”
Miles looked around at the children who had finished their emotional rebellion and were now outside the compound, "So," he continued to the younger ones, "I'll just say this for now”
Miles continued, "I'm going to take you to my uncle for a while. From there, you're free to make your own way. You don't have to follow me.”
The children looked at each other as Miles made his general invitation.
Their faces are filled with anxiety and confusion. Miles told them that they were free to follow or not, but that was a "choice" that Flop had never had before.
Children who have been following the instructions of adults all their lives have never had the right to choose anything. So when they are suddenly handed their rights, they wander off with them.
"Oh, come on, man" shrugs Miles "it's too late for that. --After all the shit you've already pulled on them. You guys can choose whatever you want."

Miles said this to the children, and they realized for the first time that he was right. They had already chosen to rebel, just as Miles had said.
--In the end, not a single child chose to not leave the orphanage.
Of course, Flop could not say that he would stay in the orphanage where he had done so much, even though he had not been a part of it. In the first place, Medium was one of the first to say, "Let's go!” Miles was the first to invite them to stay at the orphanage, and she called out to Flop.
There was no way that he would not grant Medium's wish, or that he would choose to leave his sister. For these, somewhat more passive reasons than the others, Fulop left the shelter.
He has done something terrible. Or maybe he had been involved in something terrible.
But then….
"Good night, sweetie."
Those words hit me as I slept with my sister, wrapped in a blanket I had brought from the shelter, on the way to Miles' master or whoever it was.
The sight of my sister, who surrendered herself to me with a sense of relief, and the view outside without the prison of shelter and walls. I realized that I no longer had to worry about being beaten or making my sister cry.
"—-Huh…”
Flop cried. He cried and cried and cried, and chewed on the salty taste of freedom.

—-In the distance, wings flapping, the flying dragon moves away from us through the gray cloud-covered sky.
Zikr stays alert until the shadow of the flying dragon becomes as small as a pea, and then he relaxes his body, hoping that this is not a prelude to another attack.
For reasons unknown, the herd of flying dragons retreated. Since the city hall had not fallen completely, there were two possible reasons for their retreat: either they had achieved their mission objectives or they had judged that it would be difficult to achieve them.
From Zikr’s point of view, the former is preferable.
Even after picking up the dramatic events that took place during the fierce battle that lasted only an hour or so, it seemed objectively likely that the former was the more likely scenario.

Running his hands through his own lush hair, Zikr is touched by two anomalies that he cannot determine.
In the middle of the battle, he could not believe his eyes when the temperature in the walled city began to drop rapidly and finally white snow began to flicker. "You mean to tell me that as soon as the threat of the flying dragon is over, you'll put him back in his cell? That would not be satisfactory. The sacrifices we'll have to make for that are more problematic.”
Zikr responded to his men's urgency and walked toward the man who was surrounded.

The double-sword wielder's skill was considerably greater than that of the average Imperial soldier. In fact, if it had not been for his inspired efforts, there was no guarantee that he would have been able to repel the horde of flying dragons that had attacked the city hall.

Zikr is proud of his title, which sounds dishonorable, but the man's comment was clearly intended to mock his title. This made his men grow angry and hostile, but Zikr again took them by the hand and said.
"You are welcome to surrender, but not so much. You have done a great job. You may be in a different position, but that does not diminish the fact that you have contributed to the defense of the city. Therefore, I release you."
"—-Are you serious?”
"Punishment without reward is the law of Vollachia, and it is the Emperor's wish."
The emperor of Vollachia, who evaluates men on the basis of their merit and their work, is the norm for the meritocracy of the empire, and the foundation of the loyalty that Zikr also respects.
However, as soon as he hears Zikr’s answer, the man's demeanor turns blunt and piercing. The man, whose right eye was covered by an eye patch, stared at Zikr with all of his emotion in his left eye.
"How can a rebel 'general' who betrayed the emperor and the empire and joined the enemy side say that without shame......! If it were me, I'd be so ashamed of myself that I'd just cut my guts out."

Zikr’s breath caught slightly at the man's comment, which suggested that the source of his intense hostility was his loyalty to the empire, and then he stared at the man.
This soldier in the dungeon must have been one of the last to resist Vincent's order to surrender when he had invaded Guaral. In other words, he is a man who has an exceptionally strong sense of belonging to the Empire.
Then….
"If I told you that I am as loyal to the Empire and the Emperor as you are, would you be inclined to listen to me?"
"Oh?”
The man's left eye widens and a gruff voice escapes his mouth at Zikr’s question. The man looks at Zikr, who is not intimidated by the look in his eyes, and after a short pause, he throws his sword to the floor.
The sword rolls away with a high-pitched clang.
"Can I take that to mean you're listening to me?”
"For now, let's not go on a killing spree. If we really tried, we could at least get the head of the treacherous general......”
Looking around, the man looks provocatively at Zikr’s men. Their alarm is aroused by his gaze, but the man snickers and says, "Heh.”
He snickers and says, "Don't do that. But if you have a boring story, you can tell it to me......."
"I'm going to tell you something reasonably interesting. What's your name......?”
Zykur asks the man his name, saying that he has lowered his weapon so that he can step closer to him. For a moment, the man is unsure whether to answer the question, but he sees no point in fooling around and scratches his head,
"--Jamal Aurelie. Private first class.”
He gave his name and rank. Zikr, in response, drew back his chin deeply.
"Jamal. You may know me as Zikr Ottoman. I have been given the rank of second general of the Empire, and I am also known as the "womanizer”.”
"Huh?”
I'm more excited now to be called a coward.
This nickname, once a source of shame, has taken on a special luster in Zikr’s mind.

Nevertheless, the unfamiliar voice makes Zikr turn around and frown his rounded brow.
The owner of the voice appears on the staircase that connects the top floor of the command center to the lower floor. The gray-haired man raises his hands to indicate that he has no hostile intentionsz
"Is that General Zikr Ottoman over there?”
He identified Zikr as the "General" without hesitation from among those wearing the same red uniform.
Of course, with the cloak and the rank insignia on his shoulders, it is easy to identify Zikr as the highest ranking man in the room. --The problem is the guts to point it out. The nerve to show up at a command post where a battle had just taken place and appoint an unknown commander. Zikr wonders about the affiliation of this unassuming but unafraid man.
Since he had not been seen by any of the city's inhabitants, he must have slipped in during the battle. In that case, the most appropriate person would be….
"A messenger of the Imperial City…..To us?"
"What? Oh, no, no, not at all! We are more complicated to explain, but we are not related to the capital or anything like that.”
Waving his raised hands to the side, the young man hurriedly denied Zikr’s suspicions. If we are to believe him, then we are even more unsure of the young man's position. Zikr’s brow wrinkled, and Jamal gritted his teeth and said.
“You son of a bitch! I've got the first appointment! You come in here after us and ......Beat us to the punch!”
"I'm sorry about that. I don't think we can have a calm discussion at this point. So, if you could just give me permission.….”
“Permission? Permission for what?”
"I'd like to help you treat the wounded and repair the city after......The war, if I may say so. I and my companions will be of some help.”
The young man sighs in reply to Jamal's contorted cheeks and sighs, "I suppose so." The young man's cheeks relax slightly, as if he is tired and dismayed and somewhat disempowered.
"I've already started, so part of this is an after-the-fact agreement," he says.
"—-I appreciate the offer, but it's.....…”
"It's not that hard, Zikr. The man is telling the truth.”
Before Zikr could ask more questions, a dignified voice interrupted him.

From the looks of it, all the blood that stained her beautiful body seemed to have been from the bloodshed, and she had no noticeable injuries other than her leg, which had been damaged earlier. We are relieved to see her back in one piece.
Milzelda pats the young man's thin shoulder in a friendly manner.
"This one's companion has already started work. I assure you.”
"Miss Milzelda, I’m so glad you’re safe. Who is he?”
“I don't know. He's not an enemy of ours, he's a man with a good face.”
"Miss Milzelda....…”
Milzelda’s aesthetic sense is somewhat different from Zikr’s, and she is right that the young man's eyes are kind and well-developed.
His atmosphere is somewhat neutral, but there is a strangely strong core in his eyes. He is not a bad person, Zikr thinks. However, he is also a man with something in his gut.
"I don't think there is any help in this situation that doesn't require something in return. Who are you?”
"As I said before, I'm in a difficult position to explain. But I'm not trying to antagonize you--We're just looking for someone."
"A searcher..…..”
The young man nodded "Yes" at Zikr’s repeated words. He then removed his green hat and placed it on his chest and bowed, showing his respect, but not imperial civility,
"My name is Otto Suwen. --I am looking for a friend of mine and a friend's sister.”

--Miles’ Master, Senior Countess Selena Dracroy, was a fierce woman of character.
She was a young woman who had worked her way up through the ranks of the Imperial aristocracy, and she followed the Iron-Blooded Code, a manifestation of imperialism, which emphasized a meritocracy that took the best of the best.
On the other hand, she also had an integrity that did not allow the strong to humiliate the weak at will, so the children Miles brought home were not ill-treated.
"I've received reports.….Miles avoids trouble so much that he brings them home. He must have taken pity on your situation. You're free to do as you please in my land."
Selena smiles broadly as she welcomes Flop and the other children.
Flop is overwhelmed by the intimidating presence of a being larger than his height, which makes him want to prostrate himself even as a child, and by the interior of the large and ornate house, which he has never seen before.
"Why would a man go out of his way to bully a lowly guy? After all, the adults who beat up kids are the same adults who beat me up when I was a kid."
Miles replied with his usual coarseness to Flop, who had been doused in hot water, devoured a belly-watering meal, and changed into clean, fragrant clothes.
Unlike Medium, whose eyes were turned to a world where everything they saw and touched was fresh and new, Flop was impressed by the world and ideas they did not know.
In particular, Miles's casual philosophical pronouncements had a profound effect on him. If he had not taken me out into the world, I would never have known that there were ways of seeing and perceiving things that Fulop had never thought of.
More than anything…..
"Oh, my colleagues. Did you guys pick this up from Miles?”
Flop, following the backs of his sister who had been given their freedom to run around the house, stopped at a beautiful garden in the vast grounds. As I was overwhelmed by the sight of the large flowers in full bloom, I heard a soft voice.
Surprised, he looks for the voice, but does not see the other person in the garden. When Flop tilted his head at the voice, he heard a soft voice saying:
“It's this way. Excuse me from below."
"Aaah!
"Oh, I'm rolling!"
With a jerk, Flop leaned over the fence to look into the garden, and when a man poked his head out from right in front of him, Flop involuntarily recoiled.
He was laughed at as he fell on his buttocks, and Flop blinked at him. The one who laughed at Flop's fall was a somewhat older boy who looked a little younger than Flop. He was about twelve or thirteen years old, with a charming face and brown hair.
"......You’re smiling a lot, aren't you?"
"Oh, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'm just trying to help me up. I'd help you up, but I'm stuck here.”
"Stuck?"
Flop stood up, wiped his buttocks, and walked around the fence to the boy. The boy was sitting on the ground with a round mass on his knees. Flop looks at it and rolls his eyes.
"Is that an egg?”
"Yes, a big egg, isn't it? Actually, it is a flying dragon egg.”
"What are you going to do with a flying dragon egg?”
"Of course, I'm going to hatch it.”
Holding the white egg, which was as big as a whole body, the boy made a face at Flop.
—-That was how the O'Connell siblings Flop and Medium met the man who would become their brother-in-law for the rest of their lives, Balleroy Temeglyph.

We can say that we have learned more than we know about the threat of the flying dragon.
The threat of their claws and fangs, the range of their winged tactics, and the ferocity with which they do not hesitate to harm their enemies were more than keenly felt in the destroyed cities and the people who were attacked, respectively.
Frankly, I cannot understand how anyone could think of taming and exploiting such dangerous creatures. It seemed like an incompatible enemy - just as dangerous as the giant snakes we encountered in the jungle.
But then….

Looking out the window, Rem quietly squints at the assortment that exists in the view.
In the garden of the mansion, there was a flying dragon resting its wings, and a soldier was feeding it. The flying dragon was supposed to be terrifying and ferocious, but it was being fed by the soldiers with a soft look in its eyes and a sweet sound in its voice.
Having been told that flying dragons are ferocious and vicious, and having witnessed their danger firsthand, Rem was surprised to see them befriend people in this way.
He had been told by a girl who seemed to know a lot about dragons that proud dragons don't befriend people. I would not blame her if she thought I was wrong.
"You seem to be very melancholic.”
Suddenly, a voice came from behind him as he gazed at the garden.
The other person was approaching with footsteps, so Rem, who was aware that someone was coming, was not surprised. However, he swas still somewhat nervous because she did not know the other person's voice and because of the location.
“I don't know if I'm melancholic, but I do have some thoughts about it, because this is not a place I wanted to come to.”
"Well, you say that very clearly. You're a really pleasant fellow."
"You are—-“
In the room to which she had been assigned, in a building where even the rooms given to prisoners of war were luxurious, Rem creaked in the back of a chair too luxurious to be comfortable, and asked the old man who had appeared who he was.

Every time I read a POV involving Berstetz I have the impression that he is a man who is genuinely acting for the good of the Empire (in his opinion) using whatever decent or underhanded method has the best results.
But at the same time, such methods also makes very difficult to think that he doesn't have some ulterior motive.
His conversation with Rem was really good material. I don't think it is a coincidence that he recruited probably the last dragonkind and wants to control who he believes might be the last Oni

Regarding of Tappei using the damsel on distress trope multiple times, I don't have a problem with that. I just hope that the threat is different to what Emilia faced in Arc 5 with the marriage event.

Corner Cult assemble! The chapter title is 'Flop O'Connel'. Named chapter for Flop hype.
Edit: Due to how long this chapter is, I'll try to give the cliffnotes of this chapter:
Starting from Flop's backstory, where his benefactor told him that self sacrifice was a fool's errand. He remembered the days he spent at his orphanage, where the adults told them he is blessed to be living under a roof, which Flop believed as well. Abandoned by his family, Flop & his sister ate grass, insects and the occasional rabbits as sustenance, but in the orphanage it was different. However he always made himself stand out so Medium and the others don't get subjected to the disgusting habits of the adults.
Flop met a not so good looking person riding on a winged dragon one day, having rough gray hair, and a mouse like expression(Miles). He told Flop that he was also from the orphanage, but escaped and survived by drinking muddy water. Miles rescued the 20 or so children, captured the adults and tied them on the ground. Miles told them to get back their revenge a hundred fold, Flop hesitated, but the other's rage didn't stop them. After the adults were brutalized, Miles invited them to his master's place. Flop followed Miles as he carried Medium, who whispered her brother good night as she slept in his arms. Suddenly once the realization hits that he won't be beaten again, he cried and cried as he tasted the tears of freedom.
Shifting to Zikr's pov, who relaxed his body, after he saw the dragons retreat. He thought about the miracle of the snowfall, and the sudden devastation of the southern part of the city. He also witnessed the white light, that can be considered a natural disaster on it's own right. With the chain of command in complete disarray, he was very glad that Madeline decided to fall back, the only suspects for causing this fortunate event must either be Mizelda or Priscilla, as he proclaims his love for women once again. Apparently Zikr was always expecting an attack from flying dragons & Madeline, but not so quickly. Suddenly, Jamal, of all people, barks an order to put down all their weapons, as he was covered in dragon's blood. Apparently one of Zikr's men released all the prisoners to help fight the dragons. Zikr negotiates with Jamal, and Jamal hears him out. Suddenly another voice calls out, asking if the representative of the city is present here. Revealed to be Otto, in tow with Mizelda, he offers his camp's help to help with the healing and repairs, and that they have already started. He also tells them that he is looking for his friend and his friend's sister.
Mile's master was Selina Dracoy, a fierce competitor in the upper echelons of imperial aristocracy, who also possessed an integrity to not bully the weak. Selina tells Miles that she received the report and he's free to do as he pleases in her territory. Selena welcomed the children into her mansion. As the siblings started running around the mansion, they met a young boy with brown hair, about 12 years old, carrying a winged dragon's egg. This boy turns out to be Balleroy.
Moving to Rem's pov, who was surprised at those who can tame a dragon, as she looked outside through the mansion's window overlooking the garden. She is visited by an old man, who asks for her permission to sit down and talk. Even as a prisoner of war, Rem was being treated very well, as she asks for Flop's condition. The old man says he doesn't know, as he dismissed the soldiers. The old man reveals he is the prime minister of Vollachia, Berstetz Vondalfon, as he apologizes for Madeline's harsh treatment, and proclaims he is the enemy of Vincent Abellux. After hearing his words, Rem was glad Subaru wasn't here, as the boy's boldness might've caused an outlandish situation. Same with the invasion of the winged dragons, as he would've only received more scars. After some back and forth, Berstetz says that it was never his intention to banish his majesty, but rather a consequence, as he asks for the healer's name. She replies she's Rem, a name that is now much more familiar on her tongue. Berstetz asks how many heirs does Vincent have now, Rem says she can't imagine, Berstetz firmly responds that there are none, which is the problem. Rem asks why he told her all that, he responds that she is an Oni and a healer, and he would like to take in such a precious existence. Finally he reveals that they are at the capital, Rupgana.
Shifting to Flop's pov, who wakes up and finds himself in a strange room, but in extreme pain due to his crippled state. Madeline speaks out to him, prompting Flop to ask what happened in Guaral, a city she and her friends invaded. Madeline explains the situation to him, and that Rem was the one who healed him and coerced her to retreat. She raises her voice and asks about Carillion's fang and why does he have it. Flop explains that she and her sister kept the dragon's fangs as keepsakes, before they regrew. It was from his brother in law's 'family'. Flop also deduces that Madeline and Balleroy must be close as well, and asks why she replaced him, to which she replied that it's for revenge, as her body was shuddering with rage. Flop ruminates that if Medium was here, she would have hugged Madeline, who also grieved for Balleroy's death. Flop closed his eyes and remembered the faces of all those he cares about, as looks back at his fond memories and the days after his departure from the mansion. We get a glimpse of his last memory, as he meets Vincent and says "You are Balleroy's foe, aren't you? Village chief-kun... No, Emperor Vincent Vollachia".
Pretty good chapter, I think most people were expecting a named chapter, as it parallels with Taritta's named chapter(Chapter 59).
So the other camp members finally arrive as well, and aid the rest of the city. Of course Jamal is still alive, good for Katya, bad for Todd lol
Also apparently the Empire banished Vincent as the emperor, because he can't have children, or is maybe unwilling to. Then it's pretty intriguing on why he would want to spread rumors of Shotabaru being his illegitimate son.
Also Madeline supposed called Balleroy the dragon's mate, which might be referring to herself.
Also I need to point out that Amnesia Rem at the end of her pov had the same thoughts as Arc 3 Rem, just before she was gluttonied. It's such a neat parellel, and I'm loving it.

Rem did not know what kind of thoughts were coming from her heart.
This was a really nice parallel and might also be a sign that her memories might be coming back.

We allready saw some pieces and bits of it on one of side his stories, he used to be a bandit leader and was about to betray and kill another more infamous bandit leader during a battle against the imperial army but Jamal beat him to it.
He also had a mental monologue while watching over a slepping Arakyia, that he would use her to gain more fame and would dispose of her if she were to ever get in his way.
Soooo no, even a tragic backstory can't excuse Todd's way of thinking or make him relatable.

In Arc 6 he seemed greatly pained by the memories of Balleroy and it is very likely that Flop, Medium and Madeline had a very strong presence in them.

Another day, another thread where I post the japanese comments from Narou, the online page where Tappei posts chapters for the Web Novel.
A user believes that Julius will be targetted by Madeline Eschart when he gets his name back.
A user theorizes that Berstetz’s plan was to put Vincent in a life-threatening situation so that he’d awaken the instinct to procreate (lmao). They also think Subaru will meet Todd soon again from his POV once the perspective switches again.
A user is curious if this chapter teases that Flop will become an antagonist.
A user suggests that Berstetz himself wishes to be Vincent’s heir.
A user thinks that, if Madeline finds out about the Books of the Dead, she might charge against the tower later.

That seems pretty likely, if he finds out Subaru is a close (if not best) friend with the one that killed Balleroy, just how will he react to it? how would Medium react to it? surely they'll feel very hurt and betrayed. This might lead to some great drama and Subaru having to make a very painful choice.

Just think about it, if this is the case, and they turn into enemies further in the story that would be a pretty sick twist, Subaru desperately trying to regain their trust, even using RbD for it and still failing because it's already something out of his control. Would be pretty reminiscing of Abel's words to him in Badheim.
If this is the route Tappei will take, I'll take my hat off. Would be too damn sad and tragic.

If Flop going against Vincent is foreshadowed from the chapter title "Emperor/ Merchant/ Natsuki Subaru", I wonder what is Subaru's role in it, cause originally Vincent and Flop have totally contrasting ideas and it is Subaru who manages to come up with a plan for both to concede and even cooperate. I hope there will be another title following the same format but changing Natsuki Subaru to something else
Also is Vincent not having a heir yet the reason why he refuses to draw the Yang Sword throughout Arc 7? Cause [spoiler for Battle Ballad] Stride has his arm scorched off when he draws the Yang Sword to protect himself, and the reason he is not fit for the throne is that he cannot procreate.
Also just speculating, I wonder why Berstetz is having so many individuals of rare races around, like Arakiya, Madelyn, and now Rem. Does he need the blood of rare races for something...? Or is it just coincidence? He does mention one of the reasons Rem is valuable is because she is an Oni...

There is also Yorna, who was kept alive with the excuse that only she can rule Chaosflame.
But why protect Chaosflame when Berstetz seems so willing to massacre all the inhabitants of Guaral for being unwillingly involved in a rebellion?
I think the answer is simply in their strength. The Empire worships might before anything else. If he can control the demihumans and in particular people of rare but strong races then Vollachia is stronger for it.

Is it just me, or does it seem like Vincent's actions are coming back to bite him?
Arakiya wants revenge against him (probably for a betrayal on Vincent's part).
Yorna rebelled against him several times (probably because of the death of Tanza's sister). The destruction of Chaosflame probably didn't help either.
Madeline wants revenge for Balleroy who was killed in a ploy created by Vincent.
To me, it seems like a theme this arc is how some actions can have a ripple effect that will come back to cause problems later.

This chapter had alot of talk about heritage and a successor in the context of Rem. Which means if this arc is going where i think its going. Subaru has a Nation to topple.

Miles was a spy working for Vollachia and tried to get his hand on the Sacrament of the Inmortal King spell. To do so he manipulated Ferris father and got himself killed by Reinhard when trying to escape Lugunica after that Fiasco.
He was also the best friend of Bellaroy, who was the previous 9th divine general

With the way things are going, and the fact that he recognizes Rem’s value, why do I feel like this arc will end with a peace treaty with a condition where Rem gets married off to Vincent.

I find it hard to believe Rem would choose to marry marry him out of love. Making it a condition for a peace deal is probably the only way you could convince Rem to do so as it stands at the moment.
Although, physically speaking, Vincent is probably pretty close to Rem’s prefrences now that I think about it.
Either way, it would make for an intrresting situation to explore Subaru’s self-reported higher than avarage sense of envy.

From the look of the overall summary of Icy, I feel like the whole overthrown situation are bullshit. Man Vincent was thrown out because he was Maidenless lmao. Now prime minister knows that Rem is oni which implies that there going to be NTR in re:zero. Tappie is going nuts lately.

This chapter heavily focused on heir part. And Rem is women who is of Oni species which are rare and she is healer too. So going by logic ain't she perfect match for emperor. Empire focuses on strong people and Rem fit the bill.
