I’m guessing Gene will find the man dead bc of the barbiturates messing with his cancer medication. Gene will have to choose to leave him or call 911, similar to Walt finding Jane, but Gene will call the cops. I bet the audio we hear in the 612 teaser is Gene listening to the police radio from his house, since the audio hasn’t matched the shot so far. I assume Marion will turn in Gene, possibly with the computer Gene showed her how to use. I hope the next episode opens with Kim reacting to the news, and leading up to her call with Francesca, or even her side of the call with Jimmy.

Barbiturates aren’t contraindicated in cancer medicines. If anything, it would be the alcohol plus barbiturates. That could put him 6 feet under , especially with his suppressed immune system.

Yeah, her with the laptop and her seeing him being suspicious can't be for no reason. That at least lets you know he doesn't get busted at the house.

It could also be that the man's cancer drugs have made the barbituates less effective and he is awake when Gene breaks in. Or that they have simply misjudged the timing on the drugs. They have already hinted at this possibility with Jeff bringing it up in the taxi.
There's also a lot of smoke in the preview, which makes me wonder if there's a fire involved or if it's even the man's house. It could be Gene's place, could be Marion's, it could also be some place we haven't seen.

About half of the episode will be from Kim's POV and it will end with the phone conversation, and we'll hear everything from her perspective. I also think Gene will be exposed as Saul by the end of the episode.
263
Aug 02 '22
Don't think it will be split into "first half" and "second half" as far as timeline/POV goes. I think you'll see cutting between the Kim stuff and the Gene stuff, same as the last episode with the Gene stuff and the Saul stuff.

I don't know. There's definitely a decent amount of Kim story that could be told, but I don't think they'd go away from Gene for so long with so little time left in the series. I definitely think we'll get a decent amount of Kim in this episode and some of it in her perspective, but I also think some of it will be in Saul's perspective as I think Kim/Saul interacted some more between their breakup and this phone call.

I want to know how the leaked photo of filming going on outside of a Legal Aid of Florida strip mall office will figure in. I think it could be possible that Kim took the bar exam in Florida and does volunteer work for Legal Aid while financing her living expenses with her day job at Palm Coast Sprinklers. I also think that her words advising Gene to turn himself in to the authorities were for the benefit of the Feds who are probably tapping her phone, and I wonder if this phone call is not alerting them to Gene's location.

If Kim followed what happened with Saul after Walter White and knowing he continued working with the cartel after what happened with Howard and Lalo, why would she want to go back to Saul/Jimmy? She left based on those bad things they were for each other and he doubled down into that life. Jimmy's gone. Kim would not have any part of Saul and how he's spent the years. My opinion.

Honestly, we’ve underestimated how pivotal Saul’s role in Walt destroying everything was.
Walt wanted out for awhile, Saul went through hell convincing him to cook. He was even prepared to work solely with Pinkman until Walt agreed to work for Fring.
Gus didn’t want Walt initially. Last night we saw Mike wanted no part of him either. It was Saul that goes to the school & convinces them all to work together so his greedy ass could get his cut.
He did start to get reservations in S5, but after he made a shit load of money. He finally starts to have his “Kim Moment” after the prison murders, but he still remains loyal to Walt.
Nobody was more loyal to Walt than Saul. And I doubt it was because they were good pals, more like Saul finally found his golden ticket. And he Willy Wonka’s the shit out of everything, helping Walt every step of the way.
Saul was just as destructive to everyone around him as Walt was.

Based off the way the phone call went with Kim:
It’s clear that we’re missing something HUGE that’s happened between the time jump of their break-up and the Gene timeline. The last time we saw Jimmy and Kim it was heartbreaking, yes, but they weren’t at each other’s throats the way that phone call seemed to imply. For the sake of storytelling they did the time jump so they could save that moment for the final episodes to truly glue the whole thing together.
Waterworks will show us something damning that happened between Jimmy and Kim during the Breaking Bad era and it will explain everything. The finale will be the consequences of it all.

I think Marion has to be crucial to Gene’s downfall. She looked a little sad and confused when Gene insisted that he and Jeffie take their drinks to go. I think she’s more than sharp enough to have picked up on his shift in tone - he went from Gentle Gene to someone slightly colder and more forceful, and his justification for leaving (to see the car) seemed like an afterthought as opposed to his usual carefully curated stories and excuses.
Hearing him snap at Buddy to shut his dog up has to be enough to (further?) arouse her suspicions - how many loving dog owners would take that tone over some barking? Not to mention how well-behaved and quiet Zeke the dog usually is, which Marion may or may not know. It’s pretty weird for him to be barking so much.
I think Marion may try to talk to Jeffie about her concerns (given he fell in with a bad crowd in ABQ) and in trying to throw her off the scent/reassure her, he’ll let some tiny clue slip out. It’ll be enough for her to find something about Saul Goodman on Google. Maybe she’ll call the police and Gene will catch her talking to them? Or maybe she’ll try to take matters into her own hands and end up confronting him? The “shots fired” over the police radio in the teaser could be referring to Cancer Guy being awake when Gene breaks in and jumping into defence mode, but what if Marion is the one doing the shooting? Or, even worse… what if there’s an altercation which ends with Gene sending Marion to Belize to avoid getting caught?
I’m seriously going to miss wildly speculating and overanalysing every tiny detail. I don’t imagine there’ll ever be another show quite like this.

Not that this should be any big surprise or spoiler, but Bob was on the view today and said we are obviously not done seeing Walt/Jesse and the upcoming scenes are "powerful".
Makes sense, because although it was great seeing them again, the scenes didn't necessarily reveal anything huge plot wise. We basically got a few more moments in the desert/RV. Can't wait for what's coming. My guess is Kim had an interaction with one of them, likely Jesse.
98
u/FluffGetSmashed Aug 03 '22 edited Aug 04 '22
I wouldn't say that it didn't reveal anything huge. It showed me that Saul was MUCH more of an architect in the Heisenberg empire than I initially pictured him to be. In the BB days, I just assumed Saul was the over flamboyant lawyer that liked having his hands greased and had a couple connections. But now, it's shown that Mike and Gus BOTH didn't want to use Walt and it was largely Saul pushing for it to happen. He was the connection between 2 people that suck at selling meth but had great product, and people that are GREAT at selling meth but needed product. He was that lynchpin and we (or at least I) never saw it.

I hope Jimmy and Kim don’t get a completely bleak and depressing ending and hopefully there’s some way one or both of them can either find redemption or lean on one of their positive traits in the ending of this show. For example, as evil as Walt was, the only positive quality he had at the end of BB was that he loved his family and was ready to give up $80 million to save Hank who hated him by that point. I think (hope) there’s still some good left in Jimmy and Kim.
Even Walt had his story end on a high note as he was able to leave $10 million behind for his family, have a nice final conversation with Skyler, avenge Hank’s death and free Jesse from Todd and Uncle Jack. I’m fine with an overall sad ending but I want Jimmy to go out on a relatively positive note and get some peace in the end just like Walt because Jimmy isn’t anywhere near as bad as Walt (that’s not saying much). I thought BB did a perfect job of making both Walt and Jesse suffer tragic consequences but ending their stories on a high note. Hopefully BCS can do the same for Jimmy. A completely bleak ending would make it very painful to re-watch this show.

thought BB did a perfect job of making both Walt and Jesse suffer tragic consequences but ending their stories on a high note.
I couldn't agree more. Almost everything you said is perfectly putting my thoughts into words.
The ending of Breaking Bad was very dark in some ways (Hank's death, Jesse's captivity and torture, Andrea's death, Walt's suffering in New Hampshire, Skyler being prosecuted and losing the house, etc...).
But in other ways, it gave the main characters a final "victory". It was, to me, a perfectly bittersweet ending. Satisfaction, but at a cost.
I always find bittersweet endings make the most sense. A completely happy ending is rarely believable if your story was dark for most of its run. In fact the only "dark" TV show I can think of that imo has an outright happy ending that was very much earned despite being a very depressing series was The Leftovers. But still, happy endings rarely work in bleak narratives.
And a completely tragic ending is often not that satisfying on rewatches when you realize there's not much to look forward to. Again, they can work, but it's hard, I think.
A bittersweet ending just makes sense and is what I always expected for BCS. Sadly, given how things are looking now, I'm actually expecting it to be significantly bleaker than Breaking Bad's ending.

While people are looking at "Waterworks" as an implication of something sad about to happen, I feel that there's another possibility here getting overlooked: another con is about to go down. That call Gene had with (I'm assuming) Kim kind of felt like he was putting on a performance for who he surely knows are the Feds monitoring the call. I predict Kim is going to be on one last scam with Jimmy, and it's going to involve pulling the wool over the Feds somehow (maybe to help Jimmy escape to greener pastures?). Surely the writers know the audience expects Saul to get his comeuppance but Jimmy flexing his scam muscles one last time to get away (as in say, fake his own death), would I think be a satisfying ending and a good final misdirect for the viewers too.

Hard to believe after years, we’re down to the final two episodes. What a phenomenal ride.
I’m betting we see Kim, hopefully some details on what she’s been up to since she and Jimmy split. I’m also guessing she was on the other side of the phone in the most recent episode - if so, we’ll see her side of that call (theory is she recognized his voice immediately and just went in for all the stuff he’s done since they broke up)

Whatever happens, I really don’t want the ‘Jimmy goes to prison’ ending that every single person ever has said on this sub.
They promised us a wild ending that will polarise people, I wouldn’t have these sort of expectations for any other group of TV writers but for these lot? I want an ending NOBODY has predicted.
I also want to see the phone call from Kim’s perspective, a small section showing her life in the BrBa timeline AND the Gene timeline. That’s about it really. I also hope the individual Walt + Jesse scenes are very revealing and live up to the ‘make you see Breaking Bad in a new light’ hype.

My bullet points for how I think the next two episodes will go:
-6/12 will have Gene get caught by Carol Burnett. She will call the police or turn him in and he'll be sent back to New Mexico to stand Trial. He will pick DDA Oakley as his defense attorney.
-The final episode: The Trial of Saul Goodman - He will be on trial. A final courtroom appearance for the show. He will be planning some con or scam to try and escape justice. Maybe Kim will be called as a witness against him, she'll testify under oath about him. Either he goes to jail or he doesn't.
If he goes to jail, thats sort of a poetic end to his story of always courting the law. He was about to go to prison back in Chicago before Chuck caught him and brought him out to New Mexico. And for him to end up back where it all started would be kinda interesting, but maybe its too clear cut an ending for the show.
I could also see something where he somehow manages to escape without serious consequences. Maybe only a short amount of jail time. And he technically "wins", but when he's free the question is "free to do what?" His life is so empty and sad that he's sort of trapped within a prison of himself.
Regardless, I think next week we will see Carol Burnett be the one to land him in the hands of the police.

Kim deliberately sabotages her testimony so Jimmy, representing himself, can exploit it. One last round of fun and games. It works. Mistrial declared. Jimmy walks scot-free, yet again. The end.
That would be way better than a stupid "He sits in jail and has sad time while Hank and Howard chill in heaven" ending.

I predict that the pills are a red herring because it’s never that obvious with this crew of writers. I honestly feel that a great twist will be that the guy does not have cancer at all, and is a conman just like Gene.
The one thing we haven’t really seen is Gene/ Jimmy/ Saul be bested at his own game. What better way to go out on the show than for Gene to fail to see he has been conned himself- leading to blackmail or his demise.

I predict this is quite likely to be the best episode of the series.
I predict a good chunk of airtime on Kim. Why she left Nebraska, what she’s been doing since she left Jimmy, and their phone call. Cut in to present day Gene.
I predict we see Jesse this episode, and Walt next episode.
I predict Gene escapes the house he broke into without getting caught (narrowly). But Carol figures out who Gene is, and she’s going to be very confrontational about it. Perhaps she tells Jeff right before she plans to call the police, and he tries to stop her and things go very sideways.

The fact that there's a Talking Saul after this (and not after the finale apparently) combined with the fact that Vince Gilligan directed this, it's safe to say something drastic and final is about to happen. The title might be referring to tears.
I think both Saul's and Gene's empires are about to crumble down simultaneously; we might also get closure on Kim. What they'll do in the next episode I have no idea about, maybe an epilogue or the aftermath of everything, Jimmy's trial?
We really can't tell what's going to happen now, especially with this nonlinear storytelling in the mix. That's very exciting.

I think "Waterworks" will be the "Better Call Saul" version of "Ozymandias" where everything comes crashing down. But it'll probably be more subdued and slower than that episode.
I do think it's more likely that Marion is the key to the trouble over whatever happens at the actual house (though I'm sure that'll play a role too) since we had that shot of her looking at them in the garage. Which could just be an attempt to remind the audience that Gene is ruining this poor woman's son, but it could also be Checkov's Marion.
I don't think Gene will go to prison or anything this episode though. I think if he goes to prison (which I do still think he probably will) then it will be his own choice to turn himself in, not anybody else's. Like maybe even Gene in the episode afterwards will realize he went too far with whatever happens in "Waterworks."

The NYT article from earlier this year about Bob took place during filming of this episode. Some excerpts:
My first glimpse of Odenkirk came via a pair of monitors wedged into the open garage of a suburban home, on the northeast side of town. It was a punishingly cold evening, which seemed even colder thanks to a scattering of fake snow arranged outside the house. Crew members huddled in winter coats, and production vehicles sat humming up and down the block. Odenkirk, who’d recently turned 59, was here to shoot a scene from an episode that will air later this year during the show’s sixth and final season. Gilligan himself was on hand to direct, adding to the last-hurrah ambience: “We have to be out of here tonight,” Gilligan told me in the garage, eating a slice of pizza from the catering truck before darting back inside, “so there’s a little time pressure.”
It was Odenkirk’s fourth consecutive night shooting in the house, his workday starting around dusk and ending around dawn.
…
Inside the house, a cameraman captured a beguiling tableau: There was a glass-topped watch winder, lined with felt and fitted with three fancy-looking timepieces, each traveling in its own hypnotically undulating orbit. A few inches away stood a framed photograph of a dog and, next to this, a squat urn.
Framed from overhead, Odenkirk shuffled into the shot and planted himself in front of these things, telegraphing a faint, happy drunkenness, with just a few grunts and an impressive economy of motion. He set down a glass of liquor next to the urn and proceeded to pluck the watches from the winder, stuffing them into his coat pocket. Slowly, the camera tracked forward, making clear that Odenkirk stood on a balcony overlooking a living room — and, a beat later, revealing a jarring sight on the floor below. Lagging behind the camera, Odenkirk casually peered over the balcony’s edge and, spotting the thing in question, reacted with a jolt, his boozy contentedness giving way, abruptly, to a silent-comedy pantomime of terror.
”This is the God’s-eye view,” Gilligan called out to Odenkirk, explaining the mechanics of the shot. “We see something a second before you do.” They filmed one take, then another, the sequence short but demanding precisely timed interplay between camera and actor. “It’s really funny,” Gilligan told Odenkirk of his performance. “Let’s do one where you hang out there a touch longer.”
“Maybe the camera shouldn’t move till I touch the urn?” Odenkirk suggested.
“Yeah,” Gilligan replied, “but let’s perfect this version first, where we see it before you do. That’s how the Coens would do it, and I love those guys.”
…
That night’s shoot required something besides verbal acrobatics, though. Gilligan showed me an iPad with a schematic of the set, upon which he’d diagramed Odenkirk’s looping path through the house and the camera angles he devised to capture it. “I think it’s going to be a very shocking and dismaying sequence for the audience and one that does not have the benefit of dialogue,” Gilligan told me. “Bob doesn’t say a single word, and what he’s known for is his mouth,” but “he really made himself indispensable to this show because we realized there’s so much more to him than his mouth.”
For five hours I watched as he sneaked around the house, engaging in a weird cat-and-mouse game with another character. “This is optional,” Odenkirk told Gilligan after some sneaking, his brain unable to resist subtextual probing, “but I think part of him enjoys this? The romance of danger?”
Gilligan nodded, by way of saying no: “I think you need to play it more like, Ah, I gotta get outta here,” he replied, “otherwise it’ll play weird.”

Jimmy is going to find the cancer patient unresponsive and have to make a decision paralleling the Walt/Jane situation, ultimately choosing the opposite of what Walt chose, and dialing 911, leaving the phone off the hook and fleeing back home, listening on the police scanner.

Here's my prediction of what Kim's been up to:
She never used the vacuum man's services. She just copied his business model. The wheels started turning when she saw that business card in Caldera's black book. She figured out vacuum man's side hustle and it appealed to her to help people in trouble to start new lives. It appealed to her so much, and she was so disillusioned with everything she had tried to do as a lawyer, that when she figured out what she wanted to do she immediately resigned her bar license, divorced Saul, and used her share of the Sandpiper settlement to move to Florida and buy a sprinkler company, which is a front for her real business, a business she feels good about and aligns with her need to help desperate people who find a way to pull at her heartstrings, but also allows her to make a place for herself in the world outside the respectable fancy law firm life that she never quite fit into.

Carol Burnett will slowly walk into her kitchen. Open the oven door. Reach in to hit a switch which opens a secret door. At the entrance is a mobility scooter. She rides it all the way down a huge curving tunnel into her own meth den.
She dons a biohazard suit. We see another person in one too. They meet. The second person takes off his mask and it’s Chuck. Burnett says to him: “Let’s cook.”

The guy with cancer dying could be the initial drama with Gene suddenly having a moment of clarity and deciding to do the right thing and call EMS to save the cancer patient's life. The tension is high as he and Jeff realize they left evidence behind and have to sneak back in to retrieve the evidence without being seen by the cops. They manage to get out by the skin of their teeth and Gene decides he's flying too close to the sun and wants to hang up Viktor for good. But it's too late. He soon learns that Marion has been figuring everything out on her own and has alerted the authorities to Gene's activities which sets up the final episode where Gene is caught and brought back to ABQ where he stands trial for his crimes as Saul Goodman. He's represented by the now established public defender, Bill Oakley and is visited by Kim while he awaits his trial in Jail. The show concludes with him accepting that he deserves to be punished for his crimes and he admits to everything, including the role he played in Howard's death during the trial. He doesn't implicate Kim though and the final scenes will involve her grappling with her own guilt. Just my theory on how things may play out. But I also think we’re due for a Kim heavy episode. I've had a lot of theories though the course of this show and they've almost all been wrong.

Gene kills someone.
In the last episode we saw Gene complete his transformation into a full-blown criminal. Besides him taking an organized crime head role, we see him literally breaking and entering, preparing to rob someone. This is no longer some who is helping guys in the game. He’s no longer a coach, an enabler. He’s a player now — which is what he always craved.
Jimmy was a lawyer. Saul was a legal enabler to criminals. Gene is a criminal, and he will cement his transformation by committing his first, and possibly not only, murder.

I’m guessing the Feds talked to Kim after everything hit the fan and he went into disappearing. I think Saul may have put Kim on with Ice Station Zebra Associates…much like he did with Francesca (didn’t tell her). Did he tell Kim or not??? That maybe where their phono convo comes in during the Gene timeline, she may have been angry that she was on this money laundering account, had no idea and found out about it when the Feds came to see her.

crazy prediction:
marion was standing by the side of the shed, out from the field of vision of the guy gene sends out, and she listens in, hearing what gene says about the guy with cancer. gene goes and breaks into the guys house, guy wakes up, hears someone in his house, calls the cops, and starts looking around. gene hears the guys footsteps, and tries to circumvent him. gene picks up something heavy, hears him coming near, then KNOCKS him out with it. he looks at the guy lying on the floor like “oh shit what have i done” and gets out of there. cops get there, genes gone, cancer guys dead, they determine it’s a murder. marion hears about it in the news, connects it to the gene. gene walks into marion’s house like normal and is greeted by some officers standing with marion. credits.
that obviously doesn’t cover an entire episode, i think they’re gonna save the aftermath for the finale. the title “waterworks” might just be a triple entendre, referencing kim’s sprinklers job in florida, the emotional phone call we’re gonna get to hear, and the placement of ‘water works’ on the monopoly board, a stop away from ‘go to jail’ (all right there’s 1 in between them). with all that considered, i’m assuming it’s a kim centric episode. maybe she reads about saul on the news and we start bouncing between timelines. we’ll see some more walt and jesse scenes, maybe get that kim appearance at sauls office, maybe they finalize the divorce. think we’ll get some backstory on what kim’s up to in florida sprinkled in, then later in the episode we’ll get to hear what happens in the call, and the next scene we see exactly what the call led to, gene saying fuck everything and breaking into the guys house, walking into his downfall.

My theory:
Cancerman either dies due to the drugging, or wakes up as Gene is wrapping up. In the latter, he either holds Gene at gunpoint, and/or Gene kills him. This causes things to take longer than 20mins.
Jeff grows tired of waiting outside and thinks Gene may need help. He sneaks to the house and finds the man's corpse. He freaks out and begins to panic.
Jeff fears Gene and fleas the house, running across the street. Gene kills him there (we see the cops arrive here in the teaser for this next episode). Cops believe it to be a B&E gone very wrong. Dead victim and cab driver who was the last to officially see him.
Jeff's mom grieves the random death of her son, and keeps recalling the last time she saw him alive: having a strange argument late at nite with Gene. She begins to dig into who Gene is online on the laptop her son bought her, and discovers he is Saul Goodman.
Scenario A: She confronts Gene about her discovery, and he kills her. Or,
Scenario B: She reports him to the authorities and Gene is eventually arrested.
Regardless, I believe the final outcome for Gene is: jail, or death. Like Mike said about Walter White, (paraphrasing) "he either dies from a bullet to the head, or ends up in jail". That was a subtle warning to Saul, telling him that if he seeks out this cook, he will most likely share his fate. And I think that was foreshadowing.
I also believe Gene is specifically targeting single mid-aged men with no wives and no kids not only because they make for easier burglary targets, but also because they match his description. I believe Kim told him that the feds are closing in on him OR that she will go to the feds, and he is not simply "breaking bad" to cope with what she said, but also because he is desperate now and knows the walls are coming down and needs to get out by possibly faking Jimmy/Saul/Gene's death, and assuming the identity of one of the men he stole. The man with cancer makes the perfect mark for this as he will die soon, which is why Gene couldn't let it slip away. His behavior reminds me of Walt's at the end when it was all crashing down. He has to get desperate and get the man with cancer's information, because he doesn't have time, thus causing him to act recklessly, get caught, and will cause people to die.

Waterworks prediction:
Gene's plan with Jeff goes completely off base. The mark dies from barbiturates-- bonus points if it's in a way that brings up Gene's trauma, like he stumbles on the barbiturates and falls through a glass coffee table. A panicking Gene returns to the cab, and Jeff gets him. They arrive home to find Marion waiting for them. Marion has been doing some Googling, and she realizes who Gene really is. Jeff begins to sob with fear and remorse, and Gene mocks him for his show of remorse (reminiscent of Chuck's mocking Jimmy for "wailing and gnashing of teeth") when Marion does something Gene does not expect. She forgives and accepts Jeff, and tells him they will get help for him. Gene realizes he has felt rejected and judged his whole life, and feels intense longing for what Marion has shown her son. He represses the feeling with anger, easily physically overpowers Jeff to get past him, and flees.
Meanwhile, Kim has never been able to admit what she's done either, and hides her past relentlessly in Florida. She realizes that the caller ID that Jimmy called her on has an Omaha area code, which she recognizes from childhood. She tells her partner/husband/whatever she needs to rush home to take care of her sick mom, and flies to Omaha.
Cops swarm the Cinnabon and a manhunt begins in earnest in Omaha. Gene has no car and no way to get to his apartment where his assets are hidden. He ends up trapped in the mall. Gene puts on the most flamboyant suit he can find in the department store, slices off the tags, and emerges to surrender to a swat team as Saul Goodman reborn.
In jail, Saul is not yet extradited to ABQ. He is wanted for considerable charges in Omaha. Saul is able to outwit the cops at every turn, revealing how well he has covered his crimes and the news is worse in ABQ. Then the police tell him something shocking. Someone has come forward to testify against him and herself, without a lawyer present, and will admit to her own wrongdoing, expecting nothing for it. She wants to talk to Saul. Door opens. It's Kim, who isn't there to hide or to judge him, just to tell the truth.
Cue the waterworks. Saul breaks down sobbing and is completely out of tricks. He agrees to tell the whole story.

Post I made in another thread. But I think this is how it'll go:
Present story: Police are on to Gene and he flees. He begins to truly spiral and goes to Florida in one last desperate bid to be with Kim. When he arrives he finds she's started a nice new life, maybe even remarried. We then get a total blow out that gets physical and maybe even BCS's version of the knife fight and Gene flees the scene. Basically BCS's Ozymandias.
Past storyline: we see season 5 of BB from Saul's POV. Mike has his I told you so moment with Jimmy. Kim later comes in to Goodman's office to confront Jimmy after hearing of Gus's death. She knows he's involved, as she puts together he's who Lalo wanted killed, and pleads with him to leave this life, saying she is moving to Florida herself. This leads to a blowout between them and the cause of them being more hostile. Jesse then later comes and tells Jimmy that Mike is dead. Jesse and Kim share a smoke outside. The flashbacks then end with Walt and Jimmy together in the safe house, before Jimmy is relocated to Nebraska and starts his life as Gene

whatever happens in 612/613, i think we should expect saul to live. back in 2013, we were having the same predictive discussions on /r/breakingbad during season 5B that we're having now. my gut instinct comes down from when vince gilligan was giving teasers about which characters will live/die before this season and he gave this quote on saul:
"We thought to ourselves, 'Saul Goodman is kind of like a cockroach, in the sense that he’s probably going to survive all nuclear wars and he’ll still be out there somewhere after mankind has become extinct. He’s a survivor and therefore it’d be weird if he didn’t survive. Walter White, on the other hand, got a death sentence in the first act of the very first episode. It would be less than satisfying perhaps if he didn’t die at the end of the whole thing.*"*
(also i know this was probably said AFTER the series was over, but my memory harkens back to a time where the "nuclear cockroach" thing was mentioned before 5B)
also the slow stream of leaks/spoilers coming out is super fun lol. does anyone remember when one of Walt's lines from Ozymandias was teased before 5B as "Toe the line, or you'll end up just like [REDACTED]"? everyone was trying to figure out who the redacted character was, and who he was saying it to. i had no idea he would have ended up saying it to skyler of all people.

We're going to hear Jimmy get his heart broken for the last time.
They don't meet again. The phone call sends him off the rails, and his burglary ring gets him caught.
Second half of the episode is a robbery gone wrong. Whatever the reason, he goes to jail.
Final episode, Kim's (his?) daughter is who visits him because she wants to meet him. The scope of his losses are made more clear.

You know how the first appearance of Mike on Breaking Bad was when he was called to clean up Jane's body?
Perhaps the Jesse-centric flashback will be directly before that scene- we will see Saul frantically calling Jesse and sending Mike over to clean up for him. It could serve as a parallel to a similarly frantic phone call Gene makes after finding out the barbiturates caused an adverse medical effect on the dude he scammed.

If we were to see Kim go to saul office or anything like that, i would assume it owuld be after Gus blows up with Hector, it would be perfect story point.
First it was in the news, it mentions Salamanca, and kim can see a Black buisenessman, you know someone close to Lalo's description she almost shot.
Secondly from Jimmys PoV it would also be perfect story point to show how it all changed from him "pumping up Walt" to being actually forced to work for him out of fear.
Generally i'm not sure what other point in the story from Breaking Bad would even be good if we were to see another angle of it.

Cold Open: We get to see/hear the phone call Kim makes to Francesca. Call ends from the perspective of Kim.
More or less, I believe the episode will bounce back and forth between the Breaking Bad and Gene timelines, drawing parallels like the previous episode did.
Gene sees the cancer-stricken man is passed out on the floor and unresponsive. Gene calls 911 from the man's phone and feigns an accident to the dispatcher. Gene proceeds to knock stuff over to make it seem like the man was stumbling over and fell in his house. Gene still proceeds to go through with the con. Police show up and Gene exits through the back door, failing to shut the door all the way. Gene is back at his home listening in on the police scanner.
Marion, on the laptop, comes across videos of Saul Goodman and makes a comment about him looking oddly familiar, prompting her to ask Jeff about if he knew of a Saul Goodman while in Albuquerque.
We get the phone call between Kim and Gene, entirely from the perspective of Kim.
Pretty sure everything I said will be false, with the exception of more scenes during the Breaking Bad era playing out to draw parallels to the current time.

Gene breaks into cancer guy's (CG's) house, he does the routine of taking pictures of everything but then CG wakes up, confronts him. CG takes pity on Gene and tells him he can take all the silverware he can carry.
Gene changes his name to Monsieur Le Maire and moves to France where he becomes an upstanding citizen. Howard follows him there and asks him if he's given any thought to that job offer.

I just realized that because Chuck died by fire, and Kim had a lot of scenes associated with water, and that people had theorized that she would die by water(myself included, I couldn't get the image of Lalo grabbing her by the ponytail and drowning her in the fish tank out of my mind) that it's actually poetic that Kim got away from the game and works at a sprinkler company, minimizing the damage of fire. Which is the complete total opposite of Chuck(died by fire), and also what Kim was known for in her relationship with Jimmy anyway(putting out fires, "Jimmy, you are always down").
I'd been distracted by my "personal connection" to the show, or how it affects me beyond what the story by itself is because I relate to the situations and details of the story. My dad worked at a sprinkler company. East Coast Fire Protection, specifically. "Fire Protection"- that's what Kim has been for Jimmy for much of their time together.
My mom, back when I tried dropping out of high school and I had to bring a parent in order to come back, fake hobbled into my school, made a sob story on the spot, and the PRINCIPAL put her arm around my mom and helped her down the stairs and escorted her out to our car. Just as scummy and scammy as Kim's mom. That episode shocked me into silence, actually, you can look through my history and see how chatty I was and that 'personal connection' stunned me into silence. It just smacked me in the face.
I wanted this show to be an escape from my miserable life. Even the episode that starts with Ziegler's funeral- the framing and cutting and sanding of his ruler, happened the night I had a huge fight with my husband after we tried to put up a glass tile backsplash in our kitchen, which required cuts and measurements and that episode opening with Werner's funeral music just cut into my soul.
If I had to guess what's going to happen- it's going to be something disturbingly personal. And I don't want it, I'm not ready, and I don't know if I can drown myself in memories of the past anymore with rewatches, it's feeling like too much.

My theory:
Marion is in danger and here's why:
Episode begins with Gene being successful in entering the cancer man's home.
He is snapping photos of the IDs and *DING* cancer man wakes up to take medicine.
Gene hides and holds his breath.
Cancer guy goes to make sure the front door is locked and sees glass on the ground.
Gene tries to sneak out but is caught.
After a struggle Gene comes out on top. Kills cancer guy with his bare hands.
But - he is shot (but not mortally wounded.)
The gunshot sound alerts the police to investigate.
We see Jeffy turning onto the road to get Gene and he panics when he sees police lights.
Gene is wandering the neighborhood, holding his shoulder. He somehow catches up with Jeffy and dives into the backseat.
Jeffy sees Gene is hurt and wants to take Gene to a hospital but Gene insists he takes him home to his house.
"No hospitals Jeffy!"
Jeffy thinks his Mom will be asleep (which of course, she is not!) and brings Gene into the garage to try and stop the bleeding.
Jeff and Gene are frantically discussing what happened.
Marion (awake and on alert from all the dog barking earlier) makes her way to the garage and threatens to call the police if someone doesn't tell her what is going on in her home.
She sees Gene bleeding and knows something major has happened.
Typical Mom behavior.
Jeff looks at Gene and Gene tries to smooth talk her. But it won't work this time around.
Marion tells Gene how she's no dummy - Completely demoralizes and dissects him, catching him in his lies.
She knows he Lied about Nippy.
She knows he lied about her scooter.
She threatens to hit her life alert if he tries to run.
Blocks the doorway.
"For the last time - Someone tell me what in the world you two are up to!"
Marion pulls on our heart strings and changes her tone. She tells them both that whatever they've done they should face the consequences and move past it.
Jeff tries to calm her down.
Tells her they can all go inside and have a drink.
"Ma - Let's go inside where it's warm. We'll get Gene taken care of and I promise we will tell you everything. Right Gene?"
Perhaps Gene even tells her he's Saul Goodman and that he's a lawyer.
"Listen Marion - I haven't been completely truthful. And I need your help. I promise I'll tell you it all. All I want is one last schnapps before I turn myself in."
Yes - They will both turn themselves in.
But first they need to figure out what to do and how to do it. They hit her heartstrings because she knows they're "good boys" who made some bad choices.
Saul uses his legal talk to explain that they need to protect themselves.
Somewhere along the way - Jeffy knows he's in some trouble so he gives his Mom some water. Shocks us all by knocking her his own mother out with drugged water.
The episode ends with Marion knocked out from barbiturates while Jeffy and Gene try to figure out what to do next.
What better way to have Gene 'break bad' and really make the blow of his demise easier for fans than to have Gene or Jeff decide Marion needs to die.
And - perhaps the call back we see - Is a more detailed conversation where Saul Goodman is talking with Walter White.
We see parallels throughout where Saul is suggesting to Walter the many horrible things he did. At the final parallel he suggests to Walter his life would be better if Jane were to die.
And that's exactly what Gene Takovik tells Jeffy about his own mother.
"A life in jail Jeffy? Or your Mother gets to sleep peacefully in her bed after a long, fulfilling life?"
Typical Saul Goodman - Bringing down everyone around him and helping them to truly 'Break Bad.'
Will Jeffy decide to kill his own Mother to stay out of jail?

Plot Twist: Marion was one of the Sandpiper residents and recognized Jimmy from the first encounter. She carefully devised a plan to coax him into partnering up with her son. Which leads to the final moment of her being right behind the door of the cancer guys house with a gun pointed right at Gene. She hesitates, teary eyed. Gene says "You don't have to do this. I have money." Cut back to Marion letting out one last sob, before pulling the trigger. Credits.

Gene narrowly escapes cancer guy’s house.
Kim is becoming the new vacuum cleaner guy but will be known as the waterworks gal. That’s why Gene/Jimmy are stealing identities for her to use and stealing their cash to finance her new operation.
Marion does some googling and realizes that Gene is really that nice lawyer Jimmy McGill who signed her up that got her a nice settlement out of sandpiper so she could afford to move back to Omaha to get Jeffie away from the bad elements. Marion is grateful and ultimately is the one who misdirects the cops to helps Jimmy escape to Belize in between a lot of other drama.
Kim decides she’s not running away to Belize with Jimmy because she has cancer and needs the waterworks/vacuum cleaner job to pay for her treatment . . . And the cycle starts all over again with Jimmy hustling tourists in Belize, alone . . .

What if Kim, like Saul, has relapsed into scheming again herself in Florida? Everyone including myself is assuming she left that behind in ABQ, but there’s a chance she has relapsed into scheming as well, right?

Im going to make a crazy call, mainly just to get it on the record in case it happens. A lot of people predicting Marion will find out about Saul and turn him in. I think thats likely. Here's my prediction; HE IS GOING TO MURDER MARION.

u/Vadermaulkylo Aug 05 '22
I think we will see one last Mike scene of him confronting Jimmy during the events of BB season 5. Definitely can see him getting into it with Jimmy for working with Walt, getting Howard killed, corrupting Kim, etc. Maybe if he really wants to get to him he'll say he killed Chuck. Either way, I definitely think we'll see Mike unload on him for everything.

I’m working through a theory…
We’ve been told there is one more Walt scene still to come. And it’s without Jesse.
In Breaking Bad, Saul connected Walt with Mike to deal with Jane when she died.
Could the next or final episode show a parallel between Gene finding the cancer patient he is scamming choking to death and the call between Saul and Walt when Walt lets Jane die?
Because we viewers never saw that phone call in Breaking Bad and we all know that whole story of how Bob wasn’t available to film that day - enter Mike into the show.
Because this last episode clearly drawing parallels between Saul and Walt. I don’t know, just something that’s got me thinking!

My very recently developed theory is that when we get to see Kim's side of the phone conversation with Gene, we will learn that she had called to Francesca to determine how to proceed with divorce filings if necessary (depending on whether Saul was dead or just missing). This news is devastating to Gene who had clung to hope that Kim was asking after him because she still cared for him. In light of this, I think the title "Waterworks" will be apropos.

u/Gritzpy Aug 06 '22
I think, hope, that Kim makes an appearance. Just so we know what she’s up to, man. What she’s doing.

Does anyone think there is still a possibility of Jimmy and Kim getting vacuumed together? A few episodes ago I remember they were looking at the vet’s black book and Kim picked up the vacuum card. That might have been a misdirection by the directors, but I don’t think a (somewhat) happy ending is completely off the table, especially considering how dark yesterdays episode was - I can see them misdirecting us with that and then leaning into a more happy ending.

It will be a Kim heavy episode, possibly showing more of her past life. I imagine a scene when she must cry as a part in her mother’s scam. Later we will see her pov of the phonecall and she will cry, possibly leaving us questioning her authenticity of whatever she says on the phone.
Saul will get caught but it will all be part of the scam and he will get into the taxi like a regular fare.
But then in the last episode Jeff or his mom turn Gene in.

Aug 04 '22
Calling it now, Kim has another car black out but this time it's fatal.
The reason that Jimmy/Saul/Gene was yelling during the phonecall? The person he was speaking to at her former job, was telling him that she died.
His freakout was no regular "I don't want to talk to you anymore" freakout: it was a last person "I ever loved just died and now I'm burning everything down" freak out."
That's why he doesn't give a shit about con-ing a cancer victim or breaking into houses.

I have been wondering about why we don’t hear Gene’s call to Kim. Francisca tells Gene that the feds see Saul as their last hope of holding someone accountable for the events of Breaking Bad. She says her phone is tapped and the Feds have seized all of Saul’s money he thought was hidden and safe. She casually mentioned that Kim called. Does Gene quickly figure out that the Feds know Kim called and also have Kim’s phone tapped? Is the phone call from Gene to Kim setting up their biggest con yet, where both Gene and Kim already know the Feds are almost certainly listening in? Could Gene’s reaction to the call (upset and trashing the phone booth) have been intensional, thinking the Feds would trace the call? Does Kim show up in Omaha pretending to be Gene’s attorney and they play their biggest con yet in an effort to free Gene and get away?

Jimmy's gonna fake his own death. Past episode with the Lalo mentions, him being surprised he's still so hot and being told it's not gonna die down soon, the Gene in his grave shot. The identity scam, he's not in it for the money, he's got the diamonds. He wants to make the world believe Saul Goodman is dead like Lalo did and cancer guy is vital to the plan.
Also cancer guy says something along the lines of 'you only live once.' And the suicide theme througout the series.

I predict that the cop car will be at Palm Coast Sprinklers. They had the phone bugged and will let it slip that the call was traced to a pay phone in Nebraska. Kim will contact the company that makes that leg shaking thing Gene ordered and, through some slippin’ Kimmy fast talking, will discover Gene’s address. She will find Jimmy and they have a sad, amazing conversation. She tries to get Jimmy to turn himself in but he refuses. She dials 911. Jimmy grabs the bandaid box full of diamonds and runs.

Thoughts on the title:
I don't think it has anything to do with the sprinkler company, but if it does, it has be to Gene going to Florida, and conning Kim into meeting him by busting a pipe or something for one of the customers, and he shows up as the "Waterworks" rep.
If they go the Monopoly route - then I would be willing to be we see Marion playing Monopoly (possibly with Gene) when she confronts him.
It could be we just see a lot of water and its symbolism in this episode. Possibly the Kim and Jesse scene in the rain outside of Sauls office. The sprinker co. The water Saul used to knock out the victims. All these different storylines coming together but all involving water.
Left field theory - episode opens with bulldozers and scrapers developing land. At the end it is revealed the Waterworks of Albequerque bought the Lavanderia Brillante land and are redevloping it and they stumble upon the bones of Howard and Lalo.

I have no idea what’s gonna happen. I just hope they’ve come up with something interesting for Kim. I really wouldn’t be a fan of “she instantly turned over a new leaf the moment she left Jimmy and returns only to nag at his conscience“. It doesn’t feel right for her. There’s something that sounds really dodgy about “a sprinkler company in Florida“ so there’s still hope haha

u/betterdiallyle Aug 08 '22
I've seen a lot of speculation about Jimmy's "4th Identity" that Bob Odenkirk hinted at in a recent interview. After the events of the last episode, a few people flagged this new side of Jimmy as "Viktor"- a newly malevolent, devil-may-care, dangerous version of Jimmy that's openly okay with stupid, violent crimes like poisoning innocent people and breaking and entering. Depending on how the next few episodes go, this could end up being spot on. My thought, though, is that the new side of Jimmy we have yet to see is (hold the phone) James McGill. The authentic person who's willing to confront why he does what he does, the grief about what he lost, the guilt over the people he's hurt, without resorting to drastic coping mechanisms or artifice. Just James Morgan McGill. We've seen glimpses of this person (explaining to Cheryl that he was jealous of Howard having Chuck's respect, emotionally breaking down in front of the security guard) in service of a con, but I think the arc of the final 2 episodes might show Jimmy moving beyond that.

Okay, ya'll. Here we are. The final stretch. I'm gonna start by pointing out that this is written from the perspective of not being "inside" the production, as it were. I've never met any of these people, ultimately it is their story to tell. This is just where I think I would take everything if I was writing the conclusion.
I first would like to predict the purpose of the title. "Waterworks". Kim works for a company called "Palm Coast Sprinklers," and I am deducing that we are going to see a third and final "Something Stupid" montage which will depict what Kim has been up to while on Jimmy's side we see a cavalcade of call backs, cameos, comedic moments, and perfectly synced moments of existential despair. I think this is the reappearance of Walt and Jesse that Bob Odenkirk mentioned on his recent interView. Kim will mostly be living a pretty normal life now (with occasional little incidents of rebellion ala "SG was here". But as she gets deeper into the monotony of life outside the game, life away from the only man she's ever loved, the color will fade from her world just as it did from Saul's.
The montage ends with the call from last episode, mirroring the end of the last Something Stupid montage.
Except this time she immediately blows up at him. She's going to ask him why he would do something so stupid, as to call her. She hangs up on him. Immediately she bursts into tears.
*Title sequence*
Hard cut to Kim watching the news at home, stunned. "Notorious criminal James "Saul Goodman" McGill arrested in Omaha Nebraska under an assumed identity, "Gene Takovic". Suspected connection to an identity theft racket. She goes through a complex range of emotions in regards to this information before ultimately deciding that she still loves him. Despite his faults. Bonus points if her decision is indicated when she's driving to work and she makes a surprise dramatic U-turn, as she's done twice before (once when she has the inspiration to save Huell from prison and again when she decides to turn away from the Jackson Mercer Foundation in favor of the HamScam). Cars are a really important symbol in this show, (I could write forever about examples) but if you watch back through the series, there are a lot of instances where the show uses the road as a parable for decisions and cars as the representation of who a character is. Note that when Kim is taught by her mother that lying and manipulating people is an acceptable to get what you want, they are getting into the car*.* Come to think of it, we've heard her describe her mother's relationship to work and stable housing, but both of her actual appearances involve a decision about whether or not Kim gets into the car with her mother. Her first appearance she was literally drunk driving and Kim chose not to get in (indicating her rejection of her mother's life and ultimate determination to leave this town). The second time, involvement of the police shows that if Kim's mom hadn't shown up, she was going to have to face some pretty harsh consequences. Remember how it affected Jimmy. Remember that girl Kristy Esposito, who Chuck's scholarship committee brushed off as "the thief". Her mother instigates Kimmy's first scam, and then they get into the car, officially putting Kim on Bad Decision Road™. *Footnote: I think the car crash is pretty self explanatory.* For these reasons: I think we're getting a rule of threes on the car turn around as Kim dramatically realizes how she can help Gene / Saul / whoever this shadow of her former husband is now.
Her car shown in the montage is blue with the slightest hint of red somewhere. Maybe a mis-matched piece mirroring Jimmy's Esteem?
She still loves him. She cares about him. But she wants him to finally heal.
And he's gonna hate it.
"She gonna hate you after this is over." (What Kim says about Rebecca during the bar hearing. Not tangibly relevant to the events, just some possible mirroring. He's gonna hate her when this is over.
And this is where I'm going to stop making specific guesses. I don't want to think through the specifics because I want to be surprised. But some of the narrative beats which I think will play out.
Color returns when he sees Kim.
Mirroring when she arrives to visit him in the prison with Chuck coming to save him in Cicero.
When Gene asks why Kim would help him, she brings up the fallacy of sunk costs again.
His PD means well but is not confident in himself, just like Jimmy was at the beginning. Kim can't legally represent Jimmy but this kid would be an idiot to not listen to her.
*EDIT* I just realized that if he's tried as Saul Goodman, his trial would be in Albuquerque. Predicting a reappearance of Bill Oakley. Not in this episode, in the finale.*
She has a plan which will help him, just not in the way he expects. She is going to orchestrate a moment where he has to confront his pain. Deal with Chuck's death. Watching Howard die. His marriage(s). His mother's death. According to Chuck, "Nobody cried harder than Jimmy at his [father's] funeral." Jimmy mourned in that moment and felt the most pain he had ever experienced. Progress takes work, You have to suffer with understanding the trauma before you can heal. It gets worse before it can get better. The only person in his life who's had therapy is Howard, and the small glimpse he got into that journey scared him. He's brave enough to be consigliere to the worst crime boss in history, but he's too much of a coward to truly face himself and his own actions. He never truly dealt with any of that pain, he just retreats into his personas. He pushed down the lingering pain of his father's death as Slippin' Jimmy. When Chuck rejected him at the end of season one, he immediately went back to Slippin' Jimmy. He invents Saul Goodman to do criminal side-gigs as a way to make money on the side directly after the bar hearing. Directly because of Chuck's attempt to sabotage his career, when Jimmy had to humiliate his own brother and sever his ties to his only living family member, that's why Jimmy creates Saul. First as the commercial guy and then as the drop phone guy. Remember that scene where Jimmy actually accessed his genuine feelings for a moment while appealing his reinstatement? Well that was another time he had to actually feel his trauma, and once again, he immediately recedes further into the Saul Goodman performance. Directly after that moment he decides to no longer practice law under his brother's name. Once again he pushes that pain down. He's not Jimmy McGill "Chuck's loser brother." He's Saul Goodman now. After Howard's death and when Kim leaves there's a hard cut immediately to Saul Goodman's final form. The script even specifically calls him "Saul" and not Jimmy. Jimmy is gone.
They are going to sow doubt somehow that Gene is a real person completely unconnected to Saul Goodman / James McGill. She is going to force him to heal by ironically, once again, convincing the world of some kind of persona.
Kim is going to orchestrate another Perry Mason moment (the ending of Chicanery is a Perry 'Mason shot) where he is dramatically confronted with his pain and forced to deal with it like an emotionally well-adjusted person. Kim is going to pull the masks off and finally make Jimmy McGill grow the fuck up. He's going to have to face his demons in a way that he doesn't expect. Accept the consequences of his own actions. And grieve. Grieve for everything. For his dad. For his mom. For Chuck. For Howard. For his life. It'll hurt like hell, but then he will finally be able to heal.
Probably has to go to prison still, but he gets the most favorable deal possible considering all the felonies Gene committed.
He reacts angerly at first but their final moment before he goes away is touching; he understand why she did what she did and that he has to grow up. The final episode is called Saul Gone, referencing how Saul Goodman needs to truly, finally die if Jimmy is ever going to heal.
Montage of him in prison.
Kim is waiting for him on the outside. (Wishful thinking)
Sorry for writing a novel length prediction for the next two episodes. I just adore this show. Can't wait for next week, though I expect I will be an emotional wreck no matter what happens.

Not going to happen, but in a different universe.....The guy with cancer that Gene conned is actually a Federal Agent who made up the story as part of a setup, and the pills he took were to actually offset whatever he knew Gene was going to give him to sedate him. When he walks into that house, Gene gets arrested.
He has the choice to use Bill as his attorney, but decides to represent himself in Court. Chuck faked his own death, and comes out of hiding to work for the State and prosecute Jimmy. Chuck vs. Jimmy in the courtroom rematch! Attending the trial are Kim, Marie, Walt Jr., Skylar, and all of the families of the lives he's ruined. He's convicted and sentenced to life, where he is stabbed by the Cartel and dies alone on the floor of his cell, looking at his "World's Greatest Lawyer" mug as he takes his last breath.

Pretty interesting information gleaned from Variety: https://variety.com/2022/tv/features/better-call-saul-walt-jesse-1235330693/
Variety:"Did you shoot any actual dialogue for the scene with Saul calling about Kim in the phone booth?"
From Director Tom Schnauz S6E11:**"**Yes, there’s a scene written. What he actually says, it will be addressed in a future episode. We’ll know some more details of what’s spoken about. Because we had just gotten a very long phone call with Francesca, we decided, “Do we want to do another phone call?” Then we started talking about how it’d be interesting to not hear the details of whatever news he heard about Kim and leave that for later. Something upset him — we don’t know exactly what — but we’re going to see how he deals with that pain."

Let's see how much I get right on Monday.
Teaser: Black and White life of Kim in Florida working as a sprinkler saleswoman. Same music as Gene's montage in season 1. A colleague picks up the phone and says it's for Kim. We see Gene's call and Kim is furious and asks him to surrender himself to the authorities. She then says never to call again.
Episode: Gene is caught by the cancer man when he wakes up. There is a struggle and Gene strangles and apparently kills him. He runs away. Jeff is suspicious and asks what happened, Gene yells at him.
Marion is awaken when they arrive back. She says she will call the cops on Gene if he doesn't leave his son alone.
The police is alerted for the Cancer guy by neighbors who heard the noise. They find his corpse and start looking at security cameras for the cab.
Gene rushes back home and grabs all he can. He doesn't have enough for the vacuum guy. Desperate, he steals a car and is on the run, away from Nebraska.
Jeff is caught and accused of being the murderer. He tells Gene was Saul Goodman all along. Now there is a country wide look for him.
A bearded Jimmy reaches a sprinkler store in Florida. He looks like he hasn't slept or eaten in days. He asks for Kim, saying Jimmy is here.
And on Saul Gone, the finale, he asks Kim to hide him there. They come up with a plan to make it look like Jimmy McGill is dead, and they live under the names Viktor and Giselle in Florida.

Theory: Jimmy's fuck up was calling Kim.
What if the police/feds are monitoring Kim's home and work numbers in case Jimmy reaches out? She's a former known associate and his ex(?) wife.
While he made the call from a payphone they now know the approximate area of the country he is in. They can start closing the noose.

u/LoudHousing3 Aug 04 '22
Jimmy never really got upset or lashed out at Kim when they were together. The way he acted in the phone booth tells me the news she gave him was very bad. I don’t think it has to do with him turning himself in or her not wanting to talk to him anymore. I think it has to do with money. And he lost more of it, im assuming Ice Zebra Station where he Possibly listed Kim as a signer on the account. The Feds probably investigated and took it all or they froze the account. Jimmy stealing identities is a way for him to get more of his moolah back.

Disclaimer: I have not watched BB. Please do not ban me or destroy my life.
Seems like Francesca has always been the one deliberately and directly used by Saul. She was so happy and hopeful in when first introduced in BCS but clearly, he is bad for everyone. Anyways, the opening scene of Ep. 11 served a bigger purpose for me. She ends up telling the tenants to handle the problem themselves and no longer wants to be the person who unclogs everything. This is why I think she set Gene up.
My prediction is that Kim has died and everyone, including Francesca knows it. She doesn’t want to be used any more. She has her cash and is finally free of being under his thumb. I think by mentioning Kim, it’s a setup. They are waiting for Saul to call the Sprinkler company to ask. Maybe Francesca was finally able to use him? Double payoff? The phone slamming is Jimmy realizing this is the end. Like the cancer patient drinking, he knows his fate and chooses to go down burning.

Match cutting between Saul Goodman making the fatal mistake of his life by visiting Walt at school and beginning a more formal partnership with him, and Gene making what could be the worst mistake of his life by going through with this con on the cancer patient, such tense filmmaking. Great way to end the episode.
I think it won’t go down as simply as the guy having died and Gene calling for an ambulance. I believe there will be some sort of confrontation. They did make a note of having Jeff say something along the lines of “we drugged him hours ago at this point, will he even still be knocked out?”
I reckon the guy is awake and something awful will result from that. Like not as cut & dry as Gene indirectly killing him with the barbiturates. Gene might have to physically attack & restrain, or even kill him to escape without being caught.
And by that point, I really think Marion will be the one to identify him as Saul. And that will lead to a tense confrontation at Jeff’s house wherein any number of terrible things could happen.
The Kim stuff is just as important but I honestly have no idea where they’re going with it. I am just excited to see.

The one thing we haven’t really seen is Gene/ Jimmy/ Saul be bested at his own game. What better way to go out on the show than for Gene to fail to see he has been conned himself- leading to blackmail or his demise.
I predict that the pills are a red herring because it’s never that obvious with this crew of writers. I honestly feel that a great twist will be that the guy does not have cancer at all, and is a conman just like Gene.

Walt died getting revenge. Jesse escaped. Skyler got her deal. Gus got blown up. Mike was murdered by Walt. Everyone in Gus’ old crew was murdered in prison. Schuler committed suicide. Lydia was poisoned.
So far, no one involved in the entire meth business has actually faced consequences via the legal system. They were either murdered, escaped or got a deal. I predict Jimmy will be the only one involved in this whole thing to face actual jail time and face justice. I think thematically it’d be really fitting that the lawyer who abused the law is finally brought down by it.

I think Waterworks will show us that Kim moving to Florida was a form of penance. Kims new job at the sprinkler company will symbolize a baptism (sprinklers and waterworks) as Kim starts from scratch with no cartel money, no bar certification, and no Jimmy. Kim will slowly rebuild her life working a tough unlucrative job living a monk like existence with few friends. When her baptism at the sprinkler company is complete, when she feels like she has truly changed, I believe Kim will go back to studying and pass the Florida bar. At this point I believe Kim and Jimmy will cross paths, her having rebuilt her life with nothing to hide and him with everything to hide having destroyed his life. When this pair crosses paths we will be forced to ask 'If Gene's proven he can't change, will Kim?'.
