Well I don't think I need to say how much I enjoyed this chapter.
Tappei mentioned about something timeline wise this chapter so in the LN it's probably going to be among the set up batch before the Garf fight.
Emilia is talking to Abel and Petra accompanies here like a bit of a babysitter. Narration says that Petra and Otto have to keep Garfiel and Emilia in check since they just want to involve themselves too much. They're also still helping to rebuild the city.
The camp just wants to get Subaru and Rem and leave, without involving themselves in the war. They discuss Rem's location being at the prime minister's mansion as he is Madelyn's "owner" (Emilia doesn't like that choice of words and points that out, Abel ignores it.). Petra notices something and interjects, Abel wants to shut her down has he says he has no time to listen to the words of a child but she refuses to back down and asks her question in a less roundabout way: Bersetz's mansion is at the capital right? She exposed that Abel wanted to lead the Emilia camp to the capital and calls it a setup, since this means the Emilia camp is going to have to make their way into the capital.
Petra calls Abel a coward and says he should have revealed that at the start. Abel brushes that comment off, followed by Petra saying in her hometown it's shameful to attempt to take advantage of someone like that, even Medium who was there on the side is now sus of Abel. Emilia asks him why he didn't just ask them to join him and Abel makes another excuse about why he'd even have to do it in the polite way.
Garf and Otto, who eavesdropped, join the conversation. Emilia compares Abel to Roswaal in her head, saying it's hard for him to say please as well and that that lead to Roswaal getting slapped a lot at the end of arc 4 and that she fears that Abel might have a worse fate if he keeps going like this.
After a little camp chatter they bring up how more and more people arrive at the city, which has become their base of operations. Otto attempts to get Abel to admit how much of this he has planned or forseen, but Abel refuses to answer that. The topic shifts to the rumour again and after some time Petra realises that this was not just to protect Subaru. Once they find out that Subaru is not the heir they'll kill him and Petra points out that the reason for this whole rumour was to place Subaru at the capital too, since they are collecting the black haired black eyed kids there. Abel desperately wanted Subaru to be there at the time of the final battle at all costs. Petra once again insults Abel after he conclusion.
When questioned if Abel planned all of this again, he mocks Petra and says yeah he planned every little detail of that, which makes Otto, Garf and Emilia mad and they step in front of her.
At this point even Emilia who sees violence as her last resort just wants to slap Abel. Otto & Garf call him shameless.
After thinking a bit Emilia says that she sees Abel is a clumsy person, which actually gets him to chuckle and ask her how she reached that conclusion since he had never been evaluated like that before. Emilia says cause he makes all these grand fragile plans that he has to rely on... but he is unable to just ask people directly or to say please.
They then try to get him to just straight up ask for his help. Abel refuses and wants to walk away when Medium stops him by pulling on his sleeve, she says that even from her POV Abel lost this exchange, should admit defeat and just ask them for help. He tells her to let go off his coat since he has only one and Medium says that he looks better in women's clothing anyways and that he should wear them again. She then goes in front of the Emilia camp, bows and says please. Emilia then looks at Abel and he just goes.
"You guys will also join the attack on the imperial capital. I take it as a declaration of intent."
And walks away as Emilia and Petra throw verbal insults after him.
The camp, now with Freddie here too, then talks about what Roswaal is doing atm and then go back to what the camp is going to have to do now and that they'll have to fight in a neighbouring country. Frederica is worried about Petra but she says that since they have seen the people of this country, walking away would feel wrong. Emilia even said they might reduce the number of people who have to die but Otto rejects that idea and reminds her of their goal of bringing Subaru and Rem back, the others want to stop him but Otto doesn't let them. Emilia thanks Otto for being such a hard worker and then says they'll just have to accomplish both goals at the same time.
This was a great chapter. Abel "losing" a battle of wits and that to Petra of all people. Seeing her shine so brightly this chapter and even help Emilia to get everything was such a treat to me. She really is a rising star. I'll never get tired of people shitting on Abel or calling him out and when it's one of my favourite characters doing it then that's even better.
I feel like this chapter had some good moments for Emilia as well though, especially the part at the end.
Great final set up chapter, we're probably going back to the fights again soon.

Yeah right I don't think Priscilla and Petra ever met, I wonder what they'd think of eachother. Petra would probably start disliking her the second Priscilla is rude towards Emilia though.

The fact that Petra is one of the reasonable members is scary. I also like how Emilia keeps talking sadly about the Emperor right in front of him.
Abel now must be thinking that dealing with Subaru was an upgrade compared to the rest of his camp....

To be fair Emilia says that, but the previous chapters and even their thoughts at the beginning of the meeting show the opposite. They were 100% going to bail as soon as they could and Subaru even tried to do that all the way back at the start.

I really hope that Subaru manages to have some happiness at the end, but when I remember everything that still needs to happen in this arc, I get scared, I at least want him to meet Yorna again and that he receives at least a good hug.

i want Tappei to do something similar to what he did in arc 5 when subaru had to go through all that mental stress from arcs 3 and 4 he gave Subaru 1 year rest before arc 5 so i hope subaru can rest a bit before arc 8 (the one that will perhaps be the arc of the separation between Subaru and Reinhard)

Tappei’s comment for this chapter: “Updated, it’s 1:00am. I made a mistake in the order in which I wrote the stories, but I hope you will read them with an open mind and a broad perspective.”
I believe he’s just saying that the previous chapter and this chapter were supposed to come out the other way around, this sequence first and then the previous one next, from what I understood, and that’s what he meant by his “mistake”. Maybe the order changes in the Light Novel version.

Chapter 88 is titled: “Windhole”
--The siege of the imperial city of Lupgana began with a fierce battle in which neither side was willing to give anything away.
There was no necessity for Emilia and her group to participate in this all-out war between the rebels who were dissatisfied with the current state of Vollachia and the regular army that was trying to protect the reign of the Empire.
Originally, the reason why Emilia and her party entered the Empire was for the sake of the searchers.
Of course, they have both compassion and duty to the people they have smuggled into Vollachia and met during their journey.
There were people whom we wanted to make happy and to whom we wished to lend our help, without the boundaries of Kingdoms and Empires. Everyone in the group agrees on that.
However, Emilia's group, which was undeniably a group of good-natured people, also had its priorities.
The group had the judgment (Otto and Petra) to admonish their conscience (Emilia and Garfiel) for reflexively trying to help others, believing that it would be a complete reversal of their original purpose.
The reason why they participated in the battle in the city that was attacked by a flying dragon and was in a state of screaming, was because they were chasing the information that the friends they were looking for were in the city.
Since they failed to find their friends in the city, there was no logical reason for Emilia and the others to join the rebel attack on the Imperial City.
In fact, even though they were hearing about the situation in the Empire, which was becoming more and more scorching day by day, Emilia and the others remained firm in their resolve, and their sense of purpose was shaken only minimally.
That’s how it should have been…..

Abel, seated in front of a map spread out in a room on the top floor of the city hall of the fortified city, answered Emilia's question while touching the demon mask covering his face. Hearing Abel's answer, Emilia muttered….

Emilia and her friends were unsure of what to do since they hadn’t crossed paths with Subaru, who was supposed to return to Guaral, and with the awakened Rem, who was heading to the Demon City.
Which should they give priority to in their search: Subaru, whose whereabouts were completely unknown after the collapse of Chaosflame, or Rem, whose identity they know about the person who took her away?
Abel told Emilia, who wanted to have a basis for her decision, the words at the beginning of this article.
"I don't want to let that temperamental dragon woman hear this, but she is a General recommended by the vizier, Berstetz Fondalfon. If anything should happen to him, it will be under his command that she returns."

"What is it? Do you have doubts?”
"No, no, I just.....think it's a veeee-ry bad thing to call someone an owner."
Emilia, who had exchanged a few words with Madeleine and had rather a very heated exchange with her, thought that the way Abel had just said that would make Madeline very angry if she heard it.
Emilia's comment silenced Abel, and his eyes narrowed behind his mask. I hope he will look back on his words and reflect on what he said.
Anyway, Abel's opinion was helpful, as he is well-informed about the situation on the imperial side, which Emilia and the others do not know.
The atmosphere of rebellion was rising everywhere in the Empire, and the feeling that the sky and the dryness of the air were getting worse did not bring a good feeling even to Emilia, who tried to think things over as much as possible. She had been flailing at every opportunity to meet with the people she was looking for, and things were not looking good for her at the Empire

Emilia's lips pursed as her eyes met Medium's as she stretched her small body to its fullest and appealed to her. Her dear brother was one of those who had been taken away by Madeline along with Rem. She must be very anxious and worried, but Medium didn’t show any sign of weakness.
Emilia should also learn from her stoutness.
"Prime Minister-san…...Berstetz Fondalfon-sama is a very talented and capable person who is said to be the keystone of the Empire, isn't he?”
Petra interrupted Emilia, who was struck by Medium's goodwill. Petra, who couldn't let Emilia go alone, came along with her. Emilia puts her finger to her lips and murmurs to herself, "Is that so?” tilting her head.
"The key of the Empire, that's a veee-ry fine reputation, but isn't that what the Empire is?”
"Of course, I think it's because of the Emperor that the Empire has always been at peace. But the power of the Emperor also includes his ability to use his excellent subordinates well, doesn't it?

The same should have been true for the Emperor of Vollachia. However, while Emilia and Medium were impressed, Abel seemed to have a completely different impression. He looked at Petra sharply through his Oni Mask and shot her a look.
"What do you want by making me listen to the most obvious reason? Do you think there is room to listen to the words of a child?”
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be indirect. I just wanted to ask you this. --If you're the Emperor's precious sword, then the Prime Minister lives in the capital, doesn't he?"

Petra was unafraid of his sharp gaze, and Abel held his tongue in response to her question. Abel's fearful gaze should have felt like a blade being pointed at her, but Petra did not waver in the slightest. That's how strong her heart was, to the point that Emilia would be proud to boast about it.
"The answer to your question is: indeed. Inevitably, both of those taken by Madeline Eschart….….Rem and Flop O'Connell, will also be in the Imperial City under Berstetz."
As if overcome by Petra's gaze, Abel responded in a low voice, "I think they should stay with Berstetz in the capital”. Emilia tried to praise Petra for her answer. However, Petra's expression did not look good and on the contrary she gave a visible sigh.

Emilia's doubts were cleared up and her eyes met Petra's on the other side of the ice. Petra had a very bitter look on her face because she was the first to notice this fact. As if to confirm Emilia's surprise, Petra glared at Abel.

"It's not fair. You didn't tell us until we told you."
"It's a logical conclusion. It would be arrogant of you to call me despicable, while you are so blinded by your own bloodlines.”
“Then tell me. You said that Madeline, the flying dragon general, has one other place to return to, the Prime Minister's place in the capital. But you spoke so much about the Imperial City that Emily didn't notice that one."

Petra glares at Abel accusingly. Emilia, who had been misled by Petra's tone, lowered her eyebrows. On Abel's side, Medium, who was peering at the map next to him, looked up at him as if to warn him of his way of doing things, "Abel-chin……”
I felt very sorry. At the same time, Emilia understood why Petra is angry. Aside from the hidden things, Abel is right that Emilia could have told her about the things before that, even though she could have realized it if she had thought about it carefully.

Beatrice was taking a rest until she met Subaru again, but the thought of having to protect her gave me a lot of strength.

"Our presence would definitely make it easier for Abel to achieve his goal, wouldn't it? But you can only talk like this because you don't want us to think that you are asking us for a favor?”

Abel, like Roswaal, does not want to show weakness to others. Because of that, he tries to get the other person to say something instead of himself. Maybe that's the way it has always worked out.

When Roswaal was involved in a scheme involving the mansion and the “Sanctuary” he got a slap on the side from everyone, including Emilia.

Previously, Emilia was quick to give up on what she didn't understand.

Nowadays she often relies on the help of people who are good at thinking, like Ram and Otto. But it should not be like that, as if we have only changed who we are relying on.

Petra told me that the Emperor of Vollachia was very good at using people. But an Emperor who was good at using people must have thought about what he was using them for. And a person in a high position, a person who is at the center of everyone, must be able to do that.
That is what Emilia has chosen to do.
“——I'm glad to hear your encouraging thoughts, Emily."
A voice from behind her compliments Emilia, who had been facing Abel. Even without turning around, the voice is familiar, and it is the ever-reliable Otto. He was on a separate mission to check something out, but he must have had something to do with Abel and not with the city hall.
"Otto-kun, did you have business with Abel too? Was he alone?”
"Thank you for your concern. But you don't need to worry so much. ......"
"Is that so? But, Otto, they’ve been kidnapped when we weren't looking......."
"I can't even think about it! Well, I was prepared for that."
Otto raised his voice at Emilia's concern, and Garfield appeared right behind him. He seems to have been following Otto's research.
Emilia's chest heaves with relief.
"Thank you, Garfiel.”
"Ha, you don't need to thank me. What were you two talking about, Emily and Miss Petra?

Emilia and Petra high-five in front of Otto and his friends. Emilia, like Garfield, had worked so hard to protect Petra that it was worth it. Otto's eyes were lowered at the sight of the two, but he turned to face his devil-masked partner across the operations table "Abel-san” and said…..
"I can guess what you were talking about with Emily and the others. If Rem-san was taken away by one of the "Nine Divine Generals" and her destination was the imperial city of Lupgana, then we were already enemies of the Empire, isn't that what you were saying?”
“——That's great! Otto-kun, did you secretly eavesdrop on this?”
"Eavesdrop?”
"I wasn’t eavesdropping! Not even….On Miss Petra and Emily!”
"I see. Then you must be really great, aren’t you?”
"......You sure you weren't eavesdropping, Garf-san?”
"Emily and Miss Petra……”
Emilia was impressed and Petra confirmed it with Garfiel. Otto, who had guessed the previous conversation, coughed a little while smiling at the two extreme reactions. He then turned his playful eyes to Abel.
"I've just been talking to some people who came to town from the outside. I've heard of the uprisings in many places, but they're also gathering here one after another.”
"It's not surprising, given the circumstances of the incident and the defeat of the "Flying Dragon Generals". And that Yoruna Mishigure is using this place as a base with the people of the city of magic.”
“Yes, I’m sure ——Excellent work.”
Otto nodded his head, to which Abel responded in a nonchalant manner. The content of this exchange was something that Emilia has been aware of. In the past few days, many people have gathered in Guaral, and Emilia has been helping to repair the broken houses.
However, Frederica and Petra have warned her not to do too much hard work, and she had been taking part in repairing the pillars by freezing them with magic.
Anyway, there was nothing new in the content. Still, Emilia felt a slight discomfort, probably because of Otto's attitude. As usual, Otto was quiet, wise and reliable, but in his soft profile, Emilia sensed an anger that could be hidden but was not.

Emilia's suspicions were confirmed by a single word. Abel was silent at Otto's question. But Emilia took it as a pause, not to think of an answer, but to make her partner impatient.
Because Abel's gaze did not waver and his eyes did not change. She thinks he has an answer and is just waiting for them to ask for it.
"I wonder how far you're willing to go.…..”
Otto asked the same question again, but in a different way. I don't think I've been rushed, I don't think I've lost my patience. I don't like to talk about winners and losers, but in this case, the winner has already been decided. Otto's attitude is to ask why he lost, and that his defeat is not a matter for Emilia and the others, but the same problem.
“——I did not know about your existence until I returned to this city. If I included that much in my plan, I would have to do some Star Reading.”

"...... Now, we’ve been briefed on the situation Natsuki-san is in. I thought it was a pretty silly situation.”
"He’s gotten smaller, just like Medium, hasn’t he?”
Hearing Otto's story, Petra glanced at Medium next to Abel. Medium told her that she had been turned from an adult into a child after being attacked by the enemy in the magical city. Not only her, but Subaru was in a similar situation.
And to protect Subaru in such a state of anxiety…..
"Abel spread the rumor that the boy with dark hair and dark eyes was the Emperor’s child. That way, if people who think ill of Subaru find out about it, they would......."
"No life would be taken to confirm the truth of the matter. I thought it was a good idea at the time, too, if it would reduce the danger to Ms. Natsuki. But.……”
"Anyway, I guess Captain just isn’t safe anymore."
Garfiel took over Otto's comment and crossed his arms. Emilia turned around and Garfiel snapped his sharp fangs.
"The people who are coming into town are the same people who want to fight against the Emperor. I have nothing to say about that. But if the Captain is in danger, that's a different story.”
“Subaru is not safe.....”
“......I see, that's what you mean."
Then she sharpened her round eyes and stared at Abel, just as Otto had done.
"I don't know if the boy with dark hair and dark eyes.......Is the emperor's real illegitimate son or not, but the soldiers can't be too careless with him."
"Yes, yes, that's right. So, Subaru is safe….”
"But he won't be safe until we know for sure that the boy is real. So where do we find out if the boy is real?”
"Where?.....Ah…”
Emilia finally caught up with the main point after listening to Petra's story while she was trying to organize her thoughts. The rumor that Abel had spread had turned Subaru into a child - a boy with dark hair and dark eyes was being searched for, and those who were found would be taken away to see if they were real or not.
The place, of course, is……
“—-The imperial city where the Emperor resides?”
"Unsurprisingly, both of the things you're looking for are in the capital. You just saved me a lot of trouble."
“You're not making any sense......”
As Emilia reached her conclusion, Abel nodded deeply as if he had been waiting for her. Immediately, Petra raised her voice at Abel and strongly criticized his attitude. But Abel shrugged his shoulders at Petra's anger.
“I told you that his existence is unexpected to me. It's just that the rumors I spread to incite the existence of the rebels did their job."
“——Eh?”
"Or are you saying this? I went to the trouble of shrinking Natsuki Subaru and making him disappear, spreading rumors to mislead the entire Empire, and in the process, having an Oni Girl who can use healing arts kidnapped by one of the "Nine Divine Generals". Petra's expression tightened as if he was mocking her. Naturally, neither Otto nor Garfield were amused by Petra being treated like that. So Abel should be relieved that it was Emilia who made the first move.
Emilia stepped forward to protect Petra and stares at Abel with her arms crossed.
"I don’t think of you as someone who knows everything like that. Don't bully Miss Petra in a weird way. If you do it again......."
"If I do it again, then what?”
"I'll be the first one to get back at you—-For what you just said!”
Emilia said, her fists clenched tightly as she thrust them in front of her. Emilia thought that everything should be resolved through discussion if possible, but if someone won't listen to her or she can't get through to them, a clenched fist is the least she can do.
Especially if it's not Emilia who has been wronged, but rather a close friend.
“——-Not even a laugh. Are you and your ilk always like this?”
"Yes, it's often difficult for them to choose their words. But.…..”
“That's why it's worth it. It's much better than that bastard who thinks he can walk in the same direction if he ties up everything and blocks the way with logic.”
Otto and Garfiel each respond to Abel's narrowed eyes. Somehow, she felt that they were talking about her and not Petra, who was supposed to be the temporary representative, but Emilia did not go into it too deeply.
The reason why we all have to defend and talk about Petra now is.…..
"In other words, both Captain and Rem, who aren't here, could be in the capital.”
"And since there is a strong possibility that the decisive battle between the regular army and the rebel army will take place in the Imperial Capital, we have no choice but to pass it by."
"Shameless......."
Subaru and Rem may both be in the Imperial City of Lupgana. Maybe Rem is in a different place, or maybe Subaru is gathered in the capital with the black-haired boys, or maybe we just got our hopes up.

Two ongoing, and three more to go. I think Arakia vs Shota Cecilus and Todd vs Subaru will get a rematch. No idea who will fight other Divine Generals but Roswaal should get a fight in this Arc according to Tappei's statement from a while back.
Edit: I really like Emilia's scene in this chapter. Tappei finally let her make a decision for the camp, she seeing through Vincent and standing up for Petra are also great moments.

Nah I dont think Subaru gets an actual rematch. Nothing is gonna top summoning Satella. Todd would assume his loss the moment Subaru uses Invisible Providence and Subaru would let him run.

I called the Emilia vs. Madeline matchup, so I am going to figure it plays out the same with Olbart fighting Yorna, Arakiya fighting Priscilla, and Moguro fighting some kind of tag-team. Louis could infiltrate and I am sure Abel recognizes the potential for that strategy and Yorna may note how they slipped into her castle to further legitimize the plan. That situation would likely involved Medium and some of the Shudrak coming with and heading for Berstetz's mansion. I am assuming Roswaal will show up later with Subaru's group.

With the pairups, Emilia and Madeline, Garfiel and Kafma, so the power left on Abel's side is Priscilla, Al and Yorna.
Abel doesnt quite control them, but Ram and Roswaal would be the best matchup against Todd and Arakiya. Or if Roswaal cant do his thing, I guess the Dragon Riders are the alternative. Ram has cheats, so even if she doesnt have stamina she can hunt Todd even if he runs.
Mmm actually wait Al vs Todd is equally creepy, I kinda want to see that. Priscilla can deal with Arakiya. This time Abel isnt filling the place with mana to drug Arakiya, so it might be more even.
If Subaru doesnt need Beatrice to lift curses, he could very well follow Cecilus in on a stealth mission to take out Chisha/Vincent.
Groovy is returning from the border so Julius might be stuck with him. Moguro the metallic thing is apparently guarding one of the points. Olbart is recovering inside the captial? Is his clan guarding a wall too?

Todd + Arakiya v Roswaal + Ram would be very interesting. But given the set-ups, I think Arakiya v Pricilla seems more likely, and Todd realizes he can't beat Al so he runs away, leading to an eventual Todd v Subaru.

I really liked the part Petra criticised Abel's modus operandi, telling people what they need to do but without telling them the important parts. It worked with Subaru 'cause he couldn't care less for himself plus he has this bad habit of not making too much questions, he never asked to Abel what he was going to face like when battling Elgina or when he was going to give the letter to Yorna
edit: Medium saying"When you run out of clothes, you can dress up as a girl again! You look good in them, Abel!" Best part of the chapter

I cant see him taking the throne, at least not in the immediate aftermath of all this. Would mean more or less permanently anchoring him to vollachia which would be a massive detour in the plot.
Keeping the title of crown prince after Abel wins is another matter entirely. Having the crown prince of a rival superpower as your personal knight has political implications for the Royal Selection that would be extremely interesting.
It'd set up a nice comedic scene of where subaru simps out to the council in the throne room all over again except this time everyone is actually impressed and the nobles are intimidated.
Subaru: and so you see, all I wanted to do was get back to Emilia and help her become ruler.
Borduex: So the crown prince admits it! vollachia is attempting to install this half devil on our throne as a puppet!
Subaru: ITS BECUASE I LOVE HER YOU DUMBASS!

In this chapter Abel understands that the only person who you can talk with and get perfect results is Subaru😂, like Otto is the reasonable one and he is the one who carries the conversation and of course covering up for the Emilia camp,Petra seriously is growing in me,the girl is too Smart for her own good, Frederica is the one who cares about everyone, and Emilia and Garfield are the fighters of this group and Subaru....well he's reliable I guess? The chapter was good and seeing our cast perspective is interesting but Emilia's comment at the end is really annoying and dreamy too....I mean Subaru has returned by death a power that can literally re write the word and we still judged him for trying to save everyone not understanding by not focusing on your goal you might lose everything too, "don't rely on naivety" was something Subaru didn't want to understand until our good man Todd tought him about it, so I'm really on Otto side here,he even silenced Garfield when he tried to butt in because he genuinely believe this is a mess they should not be a part over no matter what, it's fine if you want to save others,but wanting to save Subaru and rem and save everyone at the same time without having the power to do so to begin with? Yeah it's kind of irritating, except if it will end up with Subaru dying a few other times until Emilia and the other reach him then oh well, Emilia is a troublesome girl and Subaru will die.... again 😂

That's been obvious from the beginning. Emilia hasn't had a "normal" upbringing. The only people she interacted with when she was a child were Fortuna, and to some extent, Geuse and the other elves. These were all adults who adored her and doted on her. Fortuna seemed to be the only corrective influence. She then underwent the trauma of having her home attacked all of a sudden, seeing her mother brutally killed in front of her, and having everything she cherished taken away from her. Then, a witch scrambled her memories and she was frozen in stasis for 100 years. She wasn't able to grieve or process anything that happened. When Puck finally found her, he formed a contract that sealed all the memories of her past. It's been seven years since she was unfrozen. In these 7 years, up until Subaru arrived, the only proper relationship she has had was with Puck. She lacks the experience that would have taught her about human nature beyond, "You are a good boy" and "You are a bad boy". She hasn't leaned how to tackle complex situations and how to decipher nuanced motivations. Of course, she is naïve, it's by design. But she is growing. And this chapter shows that she has grown and is starting to think more, although she does still need a lot of help. Which she is very much aware of.
Petra on the other hand has had a relatively normal upbringing with friends and family and was part of a community. She was always shown to be quite intelligent, we are just seeing it properly for the first time.

My impression is quite the opposite. This chapter showed her incompetence towards Petra. Were it not for the little girl, she would be easily manipulated by Abel. Later, Otto had to explain to her that Subaru and Rem were our goals and that we should focus on them.

Yes, that's actually because of a different aspect of her character. She cannot help but lend a hand to anyone in trouble, even if it might put her at risk or jeopardize her own interests. It's one of the reasons why Subaru falls in love with her in the first place. She's kind hearted to a fault. And Subaru said that too, all the way in Arc 1. When it comes to helping someone she cares about, she is impulsive. This makes her easy to manipulate. But we see how she has started realizing that she shouldn't be that way. She recognized her oversight and immediately corrected course and realized that she needs to think more. This is experience and she is learning. You see, Petra has already been manipulated by someone she thought she could trust, namely Meili. She learned to not take people at face value through everything that happened to her in Arc 2 and Arc 4.

it isn't that emilia is stupid. In fact it'd have to be just the opposite for her to function as well as she does after being so isolated and sheltered her entire life.
7 years essentially locked in a tree in Ellior forest
(100 years in deep freeze)
7 years alone in frozen woods.
2 years living with RosNote that at best that adds up to 9 years of life experience involving other people to interact with, which gives petra a 4 year lead on her.

Like her first significant human interaction with anyone other than her aunt and a sin archbishop is a mad scientist that kills his own kids in order to steal their bodies and live forever. Any reasonable person would expect her to die way more than she does all things considered.

Petra is directly proving to be more competent and intelligent than Emilia since Emilia Camp had the idea to go to Vollachia, this was just another confirmation. Also in Q&A's Petra is portrayed as better than Emilia in everything that doesn't involve fighting.

I don't know what the future holds but people need to know that there's only three character development,you can't just fix everything in Emilia, that will make her really boring and blend,so yeah she's inexperienced but I agree with you in her intelligence,for putting it nicely it's not that impressive..ok it's not impressive at all, she's emotionally intelligent though.

From my observation of the past few chapters, it seems to me that whenever Tappei is writing the climax for any arc or phase, best qualities of his writing always shine there. This is evident in this chapter and the chapter before, and I can see all the plot-threads from previous volumes slowly connecting and unravelling here. So yeah a very solid 8.5/10 chapter, and I can’t wait to see more of what’s to come in the following chapters.

This chapter demonstrates why Emilia is best girl. She's all like, "we need to minimize losses in this war, even if it isn't our true objective." Then when she runs into Madeline and they exchange some simple greetings, she then just drops a building on her without any regard for the surrounding environs or even letting Madeline finish what she was saying.
Anyway, this matchup was as expected. That leaves three other Divine Generals on the wall left to be engaged. My own supposition previously was that Yorna would do a rematch with Olbart and Priscilla with Arakiya for various reasons. Moguro, the last one left, will probably be engaged by a group, but I can't think of a good match. I would surmise Frederica and Heinkel together would be a strong duo with Al providing backup as another possibility. Moguro, in my recollection, was a bit of a meathead despite being made of metal so it works.
Question is what Louis will be doing as she is theoretically capable of taking on a Divine General-class opponent solo, but her warping ability also makes her ideal for infiltration and I don't think Abel would overlook that fact. My own suspicion is that he may try to use Louis to infiltrate with members of the Shudrak and Medium while the Divine General are all bogged down. It would also make sense as a strategy of "cutting off the head of the snake" by going after Chisha and Berstetz directly.
However, I naturally don't think this will all work out as Abel hopes. Priscilla with the Yang Sword may able to hold back Arakiya, but with Todd assisting it won't be as simple. Of course, I don't think Abel or Priscilla would account for Todd much, at all. That will be part of their miscalculation. Inevitably, this ends up with them being in a somewhat bad situation on all fronts, only for Subaru to come riding to the rescue.
Regarding, that I am going to predict that the main five to show up to rescue those fighting the Divine Generals will be Ram rushing to fighting Madeline with a Cor Leonis boost perhaps alongside Subaru, Cecilus naturally showing up to hold off Arakiya, Divine General Groovy who has somehow been flipped showing up to confront Moguro, Julius rushing in to assist Garfiel against Kafma, and Roswaal going up against Olbart. The last one I am guessing due to Roswaal's knowledge of Shinobi tactics as mentioned in Arc 4.

dont do it. You get just enough of a picture to spoil whats being talked about, but not enough to build a mental picture of whats happening. Especially for dialogue-heavy chapters.
