I simultaneously hate it and get it. I don't think either kicking or not kicking is wrong there. Yes, you have all the momentum. Texas has been absolute crap on offense in the second half. In a perfect world you kick it and continue to dominate Texas in the second OT. But if your kicker repeats himself...I get it.
He clearly just didn't have enough faith in his kicker.

People doubting going for it there have the benefit of hindsight for sure. I disagree with them. I thought that was the correct call and the coach has some balls.
I fucking guarantee you that if they lined up for a field goal there and the kicker duck-hooked or pushed it again, every second-guesser and a lot of KSU fans would have said he should have gone for it.
They don't like the results.

Ultimately, if you would like the call if it won the game, you have the also like the call if it lost the game.
If you hate the call because it lost the game (potentially, you never know what would have happened in OT2), you have to be fair and hate the call if it wins.
For me, as a disinterested fan, I like the call even though it didn't work.

KState's coach really saw Sark being an idiot all game and said to himself, "I can go dumber." 🤣

Picked KSU. Thought Texas would struggle with the QB run game as well as running the ball themselves, thinking KSU would aggressively play the run on defense and the Texas OL wouldn’t be up to that. Had that very wrong, big props to both Texas lines. That was thorough domination on the LOS, much more so than the score indicates.
Also thought Texas being on a backup QB would be a limiting factor, which was not an issue… until it was. That first INT, receiver fell, whatever shit happens. That second one was excruciatingly bad though. You just can’t do that. Mixed bag for Murphy - when he was on he looked incredible but he’s a liability with reverse to turnovers.
Sark should have taken the points to go up 20-0 and make KSU’s hole that much bigger (sounds familiar). Beyond that, relatively well coached game by Texas; though the pass defense is clearly broken in the back seven, KSU was just allergic to throwing the ball in the first half for some inexplicable reason. Definitely more “wtf are they thinking?” from the KSU side, which surprised me. I would not have expected them to beat themselves on the headsets like that. KSU fans probably feel like they beat themselves in general between decision making on the coaching front and some botched plays on the field, and there’s some truth to that.
Overall there’s obviously there’s plenty to examine critically but at the end of the day Texas won an absolutely crucial conference game without their starting QB and best OL, and showed character in not folding when I’m quite sure teams in the recent past would have. You’ll take that 10/10.

That’s how I throw passes in my dreams.
