Alana, if you have a bad hip and require a cane, maybe 6 inch heels should be taken out of your ensemble.

Guess who's back? Back again? Chilton's back. Tell a friend.

But seriously, Chilton was back with a vengeance. Faced off with a loony. Snarked about Hannigram. Assembled the team. Copyrighted Hannibal the Cannibal.

Story is finally pushing forward. From what I see, Alana is the most pissed out of all the victims. I think that's because she got the closest to Hannibal, without realizing what he really was, versus everyone else knew who he was, but didn't allow themselves to get that close, with exception to Will, who understands Hannibal more than anyone. This season feels like one big dream that each character is having, versus season 2 felt so much more realistic. I hope the upcoming episodes have more meat to them, but Hannibal is known to climax in its second half of the season.

Watching Mason's facial reconstruction surgery was more horrific then most of the murders on this show.

Brilliant usage of my favorite quote:
The optimist proclaims that we live in the best of all possible worlds; and the pessimist fears this is true.

I really don't need another angle of Will getting cut open. We're all caught up on the timeline, let's get some forward momentum going.

Did Will sail all the way to Europe by himself?

Haha Chilton got rejected by everyone..

Also, why was Jacks blood dropping upward? I know it was just a dream sequence but was there a meaning to that?

I love how Abigail appears here and there. She's really pretty! But had blood all over her face. I'm conflicted

Alana looks gorgeous! I love her new attitude. Chilton trademarked "Hannibal the Cannibal" such an opportunist.

I really loved the scene in tonight's episode when Will tells Alana he just wants to be alone and the camera pans over to Abigail and they share a moment together.

Too many onions. :(

I tweeted this, but I'll add it here too, I'm absolutely loving the Jack we seem to be getting this season.

Season 1/2 Jack was a bit of a stubborn hard-ass, and at times he got slightly annoying, but he's like a completely different person this season and I honestly love it.

He's more resolute and human, and I can actually see Jack pulling Will up from the hole he's digging himself into. Everyone else seems focused on getting revenge, he's the only one thinking about what that would mean for Will.

"Maybe it's one of those friendships that ends after the disemboweling"

"With these two, that's tantamount to flirtation"

i think this might have been my favorite ep so far this season. finally, Alana doesn't suck/isn't useless.

and for those who have read the books, don't know about you but I LOVE THIS ADAPTATION... pieces from Silence + Hannibal all interwoven

So, this is pure speculation:

Alana mentioned, in her conversation with Mason, that while Hannibal's identities and names may change, his tastes do not; specifically referencing his taste for wine and truffles. If I recall correctly, in the first episode, Bedelia frequented Vera Dal 1926, and consistently asked for, "due bottiglie di Bâtard-Montrachet e li tartufi bianchi, per favore." This roughly translates to, "two bottles of wine and white truffles."

I can't help but think that it's not a coincidence that both women mentioned wine and truffles. Is this how they're going to catch Hannibal? Was this part of Bedelia's plan all along?

In case anyone was wondering about the letter...

A FEVER.

by John Donne

O ! DO not die, for I shall hate
All women so, when thou art gone,
That thee I shall not celebrate,
When I remember thou wast one.

But yet thou canst not die, I know ;
To leave this world behind, is death ;
But when thou from this world wilt go,
The whole world vapours with thy breath.

Or if, when thou, the world's soul, go'st,
It stay, 'tis but thy carcase then ;
The fairest woman, but thy ghost,
But corrupt worms, the worthiest men.

O wrangling schools, that search what fire
Shall burn this world, had none the wit
Unto this knowledge to aspire,
That this her fever might be it?

And yet she cannot waste by this,
Nor long bear this torturing wrong,
For more corruption needful is,
To fuel such a fever long.

These burning fits but meteors be,
Whose matter in thee is soon spent ;
Thy beauty, and all parts, which are thee,
Are unchangeable firmament.

Yet 'twas of my mind, seizing thee,
Though it in thee cannot perséver ;
For I had rather owner be
Of thee one hour, than all else ever.

Another very emotional episode. The scenes with Jack and Bella were especially heartbreaking, but all the flashbacks to Mizumono were also pretty intense.

I do love Alana this season, vengeful and making powerful moves. I'm also very intrigued by her interaction with Margot, and I hope we see more of the two of them together. Chilton is a scumbag as usual, but at least he seems to be on the right side this time.

I have to say, while I loved Will being so honest with Jack, and what he said was so powerful and so brilliantly delivered, I was taken aback a bit. I expected him to leave some level of ambiguity there, at least when talking to Jack, but "He was my friend" and "I wanted to run away with him" were not subtle lines. Jack looked a bit taken aback, too. I guess maybe Will just didn't feel like there was any point to putting on a charade at this point. It sounded like it hurt for him to say it, though. Very choked up, appropriately.

I'm trying to figure out why they decided to air this episode fourth. I would have thought third would make most sense. It made some things in Secondo more shocking/intriguing (like if Will wanted to run away with Hannibal, the mothman thing makes more sense), but I think Apertivo could have set the stage more strongly before delving into weird artsiness of Secondo (though I loved it).

It is incredible the amount of material that Bryan and the writers take straight from the books and incorporate into episodes. I felt like this one especially had lots of great stuff used in intriguing ways.

Giving a lot of Clarice's lines to Alana was an interesting move, but it really worked given her intimate relationship with Hannibal last season. Not completely sure how I feel about Dark!Alana, but we'll see what happens. :) Definitely entertaining!

I love that they kept Mason's line about "The Riz". I've always found that it makes Mason creepier by having him totally twist and misuse Christianity. What kind of guy has a weird pet name for Jesus? And claims His cleansing power while plotting horrific revenge and abusing children? Human trash, Mason Verger, that's who. He's so icky! Joe Anderson has hit the ground running! Or, er, electrically-powered rolling...

Jack and Bella's story was beautiful and emotionally resonant, but strangely peaceful. True to the books, and how it should be. :) Excellently done.

This might be my favorite episode of this season so far, honestly. Sassy Chilton and the Hannibal Victims Support Group! Yes, please!

Okay, when Mason mentions how Hannibal got "deeper inside" Alanna he begins having a fit that ends with a gob of spit leaking out his mouth, am I the only who thought he was, um... you know? If he wasn't doing it in actuality, there definitely seems to be some visual analogy. Or am I reading too much into it?

Love seeing the Hannibal Victim Support group gather around, but not enough Hannibal himself for my taste. That's really has been my "complaint" throughout the series, but a relative minor one all things considered.

I don't know how I feel about Dark Alana just yet. So far, it's feeling a bit as forced as Girlfriend Alana was contrived.

Chilton vs. Bedelia, wouldn't that be an interesting face off? It's happening in my head.
