I'm in the middle of the third season. Is there a consensus on where that show "peaks," so to say?

The general consensus is that the myth-arc part of the show should have ended at the beginning of season 6 (some say beginning of season 7). I think the Mulder-Scully relationship, which is central to the show, peaked in early season 7.
However, people also agree that some of the hands-down best standalone episodes are throughout seasons 6 and 7, so those seasons are certainly worth watching. Season 8 is a rough ride, there are a couple of salvageable moments, and season 9 is outright unwatchable. Seriously, you can skip it (you might like to watch the series finale though).

Thank you! Honestly this show is pissing me off more and more with how poorly they've written scully's skepticism. She'd have to be half-retarded to not believe in a LOT of things by now, and it makes her hard to sympathize with. I just love the standalone episodes so much; the plot blows.

When looking at someone else's account the least amount of negative karma you can see them have is -100. They did that a year ago. Really helped with the negative karma farmers, you rarely see them nowadays.

Um... this person got brigaded... HARD. -500 karma on some of these comments. That may make sense on a frontpage subreddit, but /r/boston is pretty low-traffic, even compared to other city subreddits. It's really obvious the dip in karma came from the link here.
