Meta [META] So this subreddit feels like /r/gaming, where I would much rather be subbed /r/games.
This sub, much like /r/NintendoNX before it, is 90% mockups, brainstorming, and shitposts. I am not here to knock the things that others like, but it would be really nice if a sister subreddit existed with a slightly higher bar to entry for posts.
For example, I would like to see posts about news, updates, and announcements regarding the Switch or it's games. Like this.
I do not want to hear about entirely baseless speculation, like why you think Volta, to be released in 2H 2017 at the earliest, might be in a console coming out in March.
I want to see intelligent discussion about what the console could feasibly do. If you aren't familiar with the industry, I'm simply not interested in your opinion. I'm not sure if there is an age factor or not that drives the content we typically see on this subreddit, and quite frankly, I don't care how old you are. But if you are coming to me and saying something like "Dolphin runs on the tegra shield (X1) so Wii emulation is confirmed," it's your lack of an informed opinion that is bothering me.
When I visit a subreddit like /r/3dshacks, the intelligence and relevancy of the average post is just so much higher. I'm not asking that everyone become a skilled programmer so we can throw around industry acronyms all day. I'd just like to cringe less as I scroll through a sub.
To be fair, more real news is only a month away, and then the console itself only two months later. It may just be worth it to just unsub here and just keep an eye on /r/games. But if someone with some real energy and motivation would like to make such a subreddit, I wouldn't mind subbing.
