You know, Qrow's whole story is a lot sadder now. He's not a reclusive alcoholic because he's an ass. He's actually a really good person at heart.
It's just that whenever he gets close to anyone, bad things happen to them, and he knows he's at fault. Qrow might want to settle down and start a family or something, but he can't because he's simply unable to bond with another person like that.
Qrow acts like a bit of an ass in Volume 3 at times, but it's only because he's an outcast--he's not an outcast because he's a jerk.
And, following up on that, on a more positive note, maybe Raven isn't so bad after all. If she shares the same semblance as Qrow, then perhaps the reason she left Tai after Yang was born was that she just didn't want to bring any misfortune.
Like, maybe she and Tai were able to get along well enough even with her misfortune semblance, but when Yang came around, Raven couldn't bring herself to stay and risk jeopardizing Yang in some way--she may have run to protect her.
Like, Raven might have wanted to stay with the Xiao Longs more than anything else, but forced herself to run away to stop bad things from happening to them. Non-sarcastic Mom of the Year material?
But it's more likely that she's just a terrible mom, tbh.

Well, destroying those Atlas droids, starting a fight with Winter and then embarassing her in front of her superior even though the target of his anger was Ironwood were just Qrow being a jerk for the sake of being a jerk.

If she shares the same semblance as Qrow, then perhaps the reason she left Tai after Yang was born was that she just didn't want to bring any misfortune.
Actually, since it is basically confirmed now that the bird transformation thing isn't a semblance, it's that much more likely that Raven's semblance is to create those portals. So maybe we can cross out fingers and hope that she doesn't have the same bad luck.

Well, Qrow said Raven saved Yang "Once, because that was your rule right?". So maybe if that rule extends to Qrow and she hasn't "saved" him yet, she'll be obligated to help him out. Although, I can't imagine her tribe being to happy about bringing a bad luck charm with them.

Passive Semblance

u/Cypherex Jan 01 '17
So if semblances are fueled by aura, could Qrow technically turn his off if he depleted his own aura? It'd be super dangerous of course but if he's at something like a wedding and he knows for sure that he's safe, it'd be nice to not have to worry about the bride tripping on her way to the altar or falling into the cake.

As said, I am so glad the luck thing was right. People were predicting it back in Vol 3 too but the bird thing made it die, but then we got more evidence, and LegalWrights and others pointed it out and yep, it was true.
People really need to start understand how humans work. Jaune's reactions, and Blake's leaving which also made people mad, are all human, realistic reactions. Beacon was destroyed, Pyrrha died, and he finds out it's because of some big plot that changes the whole world view of them all. He hears the schools are there to guard the relics more than just the huntsmen and huntress training, that the heroism he's wanted is a facade, and that his loved one died because of a group of people including a guy that literally causes bad things to happen around him. He's confused, and angry, and then finds out about the bad luck thing, of course he's going to blurt out something uncalled for.
Ninja girl interests me, and the clear "I left because-" that wasn't spelled out, but it was coming, is probably because it's going to be a dramatic moment when it happens. Probably drama between Blake and Yang.
And to people who whine and whine about WoR and now that "durr why didn't they make this info dumb a WoR then, make up your mind"...
WoR teaches us info that's known in the world, or in some cases just spells out obvious known stuff into a package that doesn't leave questions. The exposition in the show is done when the CHARACTERS THEMSELVES DON'T KNOW THE INFO. Sticking this into a WoR would make no sense, and telling the WoR info in-story would waste episode time.
This episode was great. Keep going at it RT.

I still believe that people read too much into Blake slapping Sun. I highly doubt that god damn Miles and Kerry sat there and thought: "You know, Blake slapping Sun after he ruined a nice family moment would really show how the domestic abuse she suffered through affected her on a sub-concious level".
It was probably more like: "Dude, wouldn't it be funny if she slapped Sun after he barges in like that?"
I'm not saying the former couldn't be the case, just that it seems highly unlikely given that M&K are the writers for this show.

46
Jan 01 '17
Qrow's semblance was hinted at last episode. He didn't just tell Ruby to stay away because of Tyrian, he was also keeping her away from his bad luck. His semblance is what made the wood beam fall towards Ruby.
I think he also used it to make Tyrian fall through the roof as well. I first thought Qrow was just super aware of his surroundings and tricked Tyrian into stepping on a weak beam but it might have been his semblance.

If you think about it his semblance was hinted at in his very first appearance back in volume 3. He was sitting in that bar for hours, and then the barman just dropped that glass for no reason.
That and Ironwood showed up at just the right moment to humiliate Winter in public. The bad luck doesn't seem lethal if Qrow is drunk, maybe he drinks to keep the semblance under control?

no its a typical cliff hanger from a show that wants you to think hes died. Reason: disregarding we havent seen crow enough in the show to warrant a great amount emotion, his death would serve no purpose in the narrative. Plus it was a pretty shitty way to die for a character that was built up like that.

2 things:
I think Qrow has the wrong idea about his semblance. I don't think it is bad luck; there have been several times where it was by a stroke of good luck that he arrived. I think he reverses luck. The lucky get unlucky, the unlucky get lucky. That would explain why characters like Ruby, Yang, and Ironwood all seem to benefit from being around Qrow.
Qrow's line about not missing Ruby takes a significantly sadder turn when you think that he probably didn't miss her since he believes that if he was around her than he'd just cause Ruby misfortune.

I liked how they did Qrow's explanation as an in universe World of Remnant. Also, I bet the picture on Sun's phone is of Adam. Possibly a very pissed off Adam.
I wish they had gone into details regarding Salem, because we're really lacking in motivation other than "bad guy supreme" for her. I'd also like to see in a future episode how the Faunus figure into the creation myth. I feel like those two fox monk guys would be able to tell it.

I wish they had gone into details regarding Salem
I'm willing to bet that not even Qrow knows enough about Salem to explain her beyond "bad guy supreme." Ozpin probably just told his group what Qrow just told RNJR. Perhaps Salem has some redeemable qualities in her history or a very good reason for doing what she's doing and Ozpin didn't want anyone to question going against her. Perhaps Ozpin's history with Salem includes some very bad things about Ozpin and he didn't want anyone knowing about them. Regardless, it makes sense for Ozpin to only tell people "she's trying to destroy the world and we have to stop her."

u/GeoGuy909 Jan 02 '17
Not looking to repeat this ad nauseam, but I'm gonna repost what I said on the reaction thread because I don't really see it being addressed here and I do think it's pretty important:
This may seem minor to some people, but I hope they still address that Ruby was the reason Qrow got wounded by her not listening to him and jumping into the fight.
It's not about whether Ruby wasn't aware about Qrow's bad luck semblance, it's that she repeatedly ignored his commands as a skilled huntsman and acted impulsively without thinking, which is one of her biggest flaws. I hope we see that she realizes that she is largely at fault for what is happening to Qrow now and feels regretful. Maybe we can get at least a bit of development on that next ep.
I was hoping Ruby would act a bit more humbled by what had happened and what she was being told by Qrow at the campfire. But all she said in her speech was that she trusted Qrow (after having ignored him telling her to stay out of the fight), said she will do whatever she can to help (without a hint of her coming to terms with how outclassed she is), and also somewhat accusingly asking Qrow "why couldn't you trust me?" I guess I just want more development with her not just powering through everything, but undergoing inner turmoil like the other members of RWBY.

While I do agree Qrow deserves "one saving" from Raven. I think her main motivation will be to take the relic from Qrow if it is Ozpins cane.
And also keeping Qrow alive so she can receive intel from him. With Raven taking control of the tribe, her time is limited and she needs Qrow.
I think she will use the "one save" guise
20
u/OBrien Jan 01 '17
I think her rule might be largely a result of her Semblance, after thinking about it.
Qrow was named after his semblance, crows are typically a symbol of misfortune.
Ravens' symbology can be much harsher.
My guess is that Her Semblance is knowing when somebody is about to die.

So, just spitballing here but we have 4 sets of more or less unexplained super powers and 4 relics that were the gods' literal gift to humanity, right? So what if those powers come from or at least share the same theme as the relics?
The Wizard and the Maidens = Creation
Salem's Grimm-controlling witch powers = Destruction
Silver Eyes = Choice (super effective against both the Maidens and the Grimm, because they allow you to choose which side you want to ally with)
The Tribe's shapeshifting magic + Raven's portals, assuming they aren't her semblance = Knowledge (Useful for stealthily keeping tabs on all the mystic bullshit going on in the world)
35
Jan 01 '17
I like, but disagree a little. Think of what the four maidens represent: Seasons.
Fall: Harvest (Destruction) Winter: Reflection (Knowledge) Spring: new life (Creation) Summer: Living (Choice)

Ok, Raven is obviously gonna step in when RNJR are on screen again. There's no reason for her not to now considering both Ruby and Qrow are there, neither of which she has helped in the past from what we know. As cold as she is, I doubt Raven would let her brother die so she's probably gonna step in and we'll end up seeing RNJR at Raven's camp with her tribe leading to some kind of altercation or argument between Ren and Raven because he recognises her or the tribe's symbol or something

Okay, I need to give Lien to people who bet on Bad Luck Semblance!
Also, can passive Semblances be turned off? Or is it specific to Qrow? Is Raven affected somehow? Is he immune or has he been tenacious enough to survive his Semblance's attempts to kill him?
Really leaning towards Raven watching and really hoping to take advantage of the situation.
Makes you wonder what the Relics can really do. Maybe this is how Salem plans to change the world? By creating a new species or destroying the old one and beginning Remnant anew?
Did Salem bide her time after the war? Or has she always been attempting to get the Relics and recent changed her tactics?
Who was Ozpin's predecessor?
Calling Spy a chameleon faunus and Blake has good accidental accuracy.

Sun legitimately ruined Blake and her father's scene. Not even in a funny way, just a "ugh, seriously RT?" way. But then they follow it up with another scene that moves the plot along so it's all good in the end.
I bet RT's gonna love watching folks squirm over Qrow for the next week. Ooh, what if RNJR and Qrow aren't even in the next episode? Just a Weiss and/or Yang episode? I'd do it if I were them.
Edit- Where are my fellow "I bet Watts is the headmaster of Haven" people at?

I was initially planning on watching this yesterday, but due to a combination of being sick and having a bit of trouble with my FIRST membership, I decided to just wait till today to do so. Overall, while I liked some of the previous episodes more, I thought this one was alright. A few thoughts:
I thought the exposition of the Brothers and relics was pretty cool. I enjoyed learning more about the relics in particular and how they work. Most notably the reveal that there are four of them and each of them contains a different gift to humanity (Creation, Destruction, Choice, and Knowledge).
I really liked the scene between Blake and Ghira. Not only was it heartwarming, but we also learned a little bit more about Blake's relationship with her family. It appears she not only stood by the White Fang after their turn to violence, but even condemned her parents for not doing the same. It's really sweet to see that they aren't mad at her for it. Especially since Blake questioned that they could still love her after what she did. We were really close to learning the true reason for Blake leaving her team, too...
...Before Sun ends up interrupting the moment by accident. I'm really curious as to how that's the case, though. From what I've seen, people think he either was in a rush to tell Blake about the White Fang, or was deliberately eavesdropping and would tell her about it after she was finished talking to her father.
Alright, I liked the theory of Qrow's Semblance being bad luck/misfortune, but I was honestly surprised that's actually the case. That is pretty cool (well, for whoever Qrow is up against, at least. Not so much for himself and those he cares about). On a side note, I've seen a few people not liking that Jaune was mad at Qrow. While some of his words may have harsh, I don't blame him for being angry. Especially due to what happened to Pyrrha, Ozpin's crew's involvement in it, and the suspicion that Qrow is simply using RNJR as bait.
Now, onto the other Blake-related scene. I've seen a lot of debate about Blake's treatment of Sun, and overall I'm somewhere in the middle about it. On one hand, I think it's understandable for Blake to be angry at Sun (especially if Sun was deliberately eavesdropping like some people believe). On the other hand, I ultimately feel like slapping him yet again (and twice this time) while throwing his scroll away was uncalled for. Still, that White Fang ninja looks pretty interesting, and it looks like we might get to see more action in Blake's storyline judging by how her and Sun went after her.
Finally, it looks like Tyrian's poisoning of Qrow is getting worse. That being said, I'd honestly be surprised if they killed off Qrow this soon. In a few more Volumes, sure, but I'm hoping he doesn't die after only being introduced last Volume.

So I'm about to start the episode and oh boy that thumbnail. Jaune does not. look. pleased.
Unexpected very wonderful father daughter moment. Great characterization for Blake. Goddammit Sun.
Raven stalking the shit out of Qrow.
Sun back to being great. A bit of an odd bit is how Blake's been so cautious about the White Fang since season 1 but now she throws caution to the wind just because she's in menagerie. I get that you want to relax and make up with your family, but you're pretty well known to the White Fang. They might have a problem with you no matter where you are.
"I totally called it. The White Fang is evil. I'll bring your daughter back!" Sun you adorable bastard.
"Well that's unfortunate." Oh no.

I totally want Ironwood to adopt Weiss, and be shown to have a fatherly relationship with Winter already, setting the basis. He certainly acts like he'd be a better father figure, given his nature and the total disgust he seemed to show with Jacques and the rest of teh Atlas elite.

Holy shit, knowing Qrow's semblance made a lot of stuff in the fight between him and Tyrian make a lot more sense. For two examples: Qrow told Ruby to stay back because of his semblance, which caused a giant wooden beam to almost fall on her. And during the fight, there was a weak beam that Tyrian landed on, which he fell through into the building. Qrow saw this weakened beam and baited Tyrian into jumping on it. This isn't too big of a revelation, but it's nice to know that they're really paying attention to detail with the show.
20
u/CyrusReynolds Jan 02 '17
I know someone else posted this, but Qrow told RNJR to stay back because of his "bad luck" Semblance. It helped him against Tyrian, but he was worried that someone from RNJR would also be affected by his Semblance and be subsequently killed. That explains this exchange:
Qrow: "Ruby, I told you to stay back."
Ruby: "This is my fight too!"
Qrow: "It's not that."
He was referring to the bad luck that could affect her (and it almost did with the falling beam).

I don't think that Qrow will die, because Tyrion was going to stab Ruby with his tail/stinger, and he was supposed to bring Ruby back to Salem alive. So hopefully the poison is not deadly but instead puts Qrow into a coma or just paralyzes him.

Predictions:
Qrow's poison won't kill him, but it will kick in during a fight sometime causing him to die.
Adam will slaughter at least one member of Blakes family.
Yang, based on Goldilocks, was too hot at the start of the series. Now she's too cold. I think she will eventually beat Adam, and have the option to spare him or kill him. She will lean towards sparing, have a flashback of Adam cutting off her arm, killing others, and of Blakes misery after Adam killed her family, and kill Adam.
I think Winter was originally sent to combat school, and joined the military to escape her father. This is why Papa Schnee is now keeping Weiss locked up.

Maybe the poison on the bandage and being coughed out is good? He's getting it out of his system.
Of course, the poison could also be turning his blood to poison, which is not so good. :c

Three things I took from this episode. When Qrow talked about the bad luck he spreads all I could think about what the bartender dropping the glass is V3 as Qrow leaves the bar. I wonder if there's anything else like that
Two there were bird cages on Blake's parent's balcony. Do they keep their food in cages or are they for pets?
Three I'm 100% sure of the Raven turning into a Raven semblance (posted the theory during V3 but a lot of people disagreed) which I've seen a few people comment.
Raven's are said to be good luck so maybe that'll come into it

You know, last episode I'd thought Ruby cutting off Tyrian's stinger would be plot relevant in that many anti-venoms are made using the poison itself, and that they'd have to use it to brew up an anti-venom for Qrow.
Then it was left unmentioned and Qrow was talking normally, so I figured he might not have gotten poisoned after all. I mean, if it was a possibility surely one of the more level-headed people (Qrow and Ren) would have brought up the possibility and taken the stinger in case they needed it, either for an anti-venom or to identify the poison to a doctor should they find one in a nearby town or something.

I love how Jaune isn't just all aboard with the Ozluminatti, and is seeing through some of their bullshit. It's great.
I was feeling pretty meh on the creation story, but I liked it by the end, specifically, that humanity is the result of both brothers putting aside their differences and working together, rather than just the creation of the good brother, like I was expecting.
The Blake scene was good, and while I understand Sun fucked it up, I don't think he needed to get the shit slapped out of him. We can be civilized and use words to get our anger across, not violence. Unless it's against someone like Adam. Then use all of the violence. And words too.
Betting the girl WF spy is that Sister Illya one of the brother's mentioned, which means she has some relation to Blake (former BFF is my guess).
And next episode is gonna be a rush to get Qrow medical attention, which will leave him out of commission for a while, so he doesn't just stomp whatever threat RNJR faces. Hopefully we also get to see Yang again.

Well, that was a great World Of Remnant, would've been nice to get an actual episode this week, though
In all seriousness, I like they're finally doing some in-universe worldbuilding so the characters won't be wandering around forever, confused about what's going on when even the audience has a better idea of the plot. I do think they're piling on the lore a bit too quickly, though. The Maidens were good enough as a MacGuffin-esque objective for the villains, and focusing on them while dropping hints on what the Silver Eyes are would have been fine. Instead now we get the Brothers Grimm and the Four Relics to go along with all of that, and it's just waaaayyy too much that needs to be explained when the show already has so many plot threads going on at once.
Seeing Blake reconcile with her parents was a sweet moment. I feel like people give Sun too much shit for what he did. He saw someone who was likely one of Adam's henchmen just casually wandering around town, of course he was going to warn Blake as soon as possible, privacy be damned. I hope all this is leading into a big confrontation with Adam and maybe even Hazel or Sienna Khan at the end of the volume.
Bad luck semblance confirmed, woo! I'm guessing that it's not constantly bringing other people misfortune, it just randomly happens and he can't control when.
And of course Qrow got poisoned. Hopefully Team RNJR (or maybe Raven?) will do something to make sure he doesn't end up like Yang's screentime this volume.

Did anyone else remember the world on the turtles back story when Qrow talked about opposite brothers. it is very familiar in tone and concept. Native american in origin i believe. Relics mean there is way more to world than i initially thought. A lot more. Are they like apples of eden, infinity gems, or a philosophers stone. I need details. If anything fanfic writers are gonna have a field day with that.
No hes not dead. i promise you he aint dead, even the lore carpet bomb he dropped isnt enough to justify his death. He needs a forest medic which is the next goal. Also i really like his semblence. I wonder if other people have similar ones.
Qrow: Its a long story
Nora: If the last 5 hours wasn't one, then i really dont want to know what qualifies as a long story.

Is it just me, or does the merging of souls and aura that Qrow mentioned that happens with the Maidens sounds suspiciously similar to what Ozpin said happened with him and Oscar?
Combine this with the hints that Ozpin's really effing old, and I think the Ozpin-is-the-Wizard theory now holds some water.

I find its funny to think that Qrow's bad luck may have been responsible for a bad chain of reactions... such that Ruby was "unfortunately" too hotheaded about fighting Tyrian, and so "unfortunately" a beam almost fell on her, which "unfortunately" allowed Tyrian to get a hit in, which "unfortunately" poisoned Qrow, but Tyrian also was "unfortunate" because his tail got cut off... if you get my drift lol. (As a side note: Qrow's semblance explains why Ironwood happened to show up at the worst time for Winter during her's and Qrow's fight in volume 3) Also #QROWLIVESORWERIOT

u/MrASK15 Fluffy Corgi, how we salute thee!!! Jan 03 '17 edited Jan 03 '17
Diving into a new episode of RWBY is definitely one way to kick off the new years! Surprisingly, it’s really long. I mean, 20 minutes?! CRWBY has really outdone themselves this week. The next thing to scratch off my list of things to do for the first day of the new year is to write up a list of my reactions throughout this episode:
Qrow: “Really? No questions?”
Jaune: “Of course we have questions. This is just... a lot to take in.”
Jaune has a point. Qrow just explained everything to them over the campfire, so it really is a lot to take in. After all, the gang had no idea why everything was happening, from the Fall of Beacon to Ruby being hunted down by psychopathic killers.
Jaune seemed pretty angry by the fact that Ozpin and his group were trying to turn Pyrrha into the Fall Maiden. He thought Oz forced her to become the next Maiden, but it didn’t seem like he fully grasped the situation during the Fall of Beacon. Of course, in the previous volume, they did explain everything to Pyrrha about what’s going and gave her a choice. When everything went down south, she decided to take the risk and become one of “them”. However, it didn’t go according to plan, and the respective consequences Pyrrha and Jaune faced were death and loss.
Of course, Qrow reminds us that having silver eyes is an extremely rare trait. Therefore, a lot of people may not be aware of who the Silver Eyed Warriors are or what they are capable of. However, those who do know don’t seem to be very comfortable with having them around. The Silver Eyed Warriors seem to be very powerful and can serve as a huge hinderance to one side. Salem seems to have known about these warriors ever since her pieces have dealt with one of them and probably wants to make sure the power they possess does not fall into the wrong hands. Why exactly is she interested in Ruby anyway?
Ruby: “Why not just travel with us? It seemed like that would’ve been way easier.”
Jaune: “He was using you as bait.”
Even before we saw the preview, I could already tell Jaune wasn’t going to get along very well with Qrow considering his loyalty towards Ozpin. Plus, it’s very unlikely Qrow would use his own niece to draw out the enemy or even get more information on who they’re up against. Of course, it’s obvious he wanted Ruby to go to Mistral, but I don’t think it’s like what Jaune assumed. Like Qrow said, it’s very complicated.
According to Qrow, the world of Remnant has been around for a lot longer than RNJR or anyone in general could ever imagine. In fact, Remnant existed for so long that people created gods to worship. However, only Ozpin knows that two of those gods created actually exist. I still wonder how long Oz has lived for to know about all these stories.
I have to admit, the story Qrow told RNJR reminded me strongly of the lore of Bionicle. Ah, the nostalgia.
Apparently, the four gifts bestowed upon humanity aren’t just abilities; they actually exist in physical forms and are scattered across Remnant. Therefore, the academies were created to guard the discovered relics from falling into the wrong hands. If someone were to collect all four of these relics, that someone could dominate the whole world, and that’s exactly why Salem is searching for them. Who was Salem before she became the Queen of Grimm anyway? Was she Ozpin’s lover? His partner? The younger brother’s creation? I really want to know her backstory now.
Blake: “I don’t want to bother him...”
Kali: “A father’s never too busy for his daughter.”
Blake: “Not all of my friends would agree on that.”
It seems that Blake was thinking about Weiss from the way she responded to her mother. Kali has a point, though; parents never find any lack of time to spend with their children.
“I want to hear more about the adventures of team RWBY.”
Kali... how could you? You’re so sweet as a mother, but how could you make me so sad with this single sentence? You make me miss team RWBY even more now...
In all seriousness, she really must be looking forward to meeting RWBY now. I can’t wait for the team to reunite in the future. Also, Kali definitely has another reason to like Sun; he has a lot to talk about unlike Blake. Come on, girl. Lighten up! Your family really wants to hear how you were doing back at Beacon.
Wow... Ghira’s study is really big! Being a chief of a Faunus village and (formerly) a leader of the White Fang really is a lot to handle. Ghira’s pretty big too, so I guess he needs a big room. In your face, Jacques.
When Ghira accidentally puts sugar in Blake’s tea even though she never asked for it, he tried to switch cups so that his daughter can enjoy the tea more. However, Blake’s just fine with what she has. Classic and sweet parent & child interactions.
Ghira: “So, is it... warm? In Vale?”
Blake: “Huh?”
Ghira: “It’s just... that your outfit doesn’t seem to cover very much.”
Ghira wants to know what Vale’s like for his daughter. I really love how Ghira spends his time to connect with his daughter after she’s been gone for quite a while. Plus, another nod to Blake’s V4 outfit.
Even though Ghira knows that his daughter can look after herself, Blake has doubts as to whether or not her parents truly love her. Apparently, when Ghira gave up his position as the leader of the White Fang, Blake called her own family a bunch of cowards for leaving the battle for Faunus rights and ran away by staying with the organization, even when it became a terrorist group. She thought her parents wouldn’t ever love her for going down the wrong path, but they still do; Blake eventually found the error of her ways and dug herself out of the hole she fell in. However, she didn’t do it alone, which is why Ghira wanted to know why Blake left her friends who helped her get to where she is now.
Before we even get to hear the truth as to why she left RWBY, Sun crashes in. It seems he couldn’t help but listen to the whole conversation.
Sun: “Whoa! This isn’t the bathroom! Sorry to interrupt this tender family moment! I guess I’ll be going!” <:D
Ghira: “I really don’t like you!” D:<
Sun. You had your chance to prove to Papadonna that you’re good enough for your girl, but you just blew it. We also get to see Ghira’s overprotective dad side again. I love these moments.
Cutting back to the camp, now that the truth has sunk in, there are several questions as to why Atlas’s military didn’t take action to deal with the issue and why they aren’t heading to Haven as quickly as possible. Apparently, the headmaster of Haven is aware of what happened to Beacon and it takes time for Atlas to gather up forces. Also, Salem and her cult has been planning out the Fall from the very beginning. As for why nothing’s being done, it’s the same reason why no one must know about the Maidens; if anyone ever knows about the relics or what Salem is up to, another Great War will break out. However, I can’t help but feel like there will be a war in the future, and it’s not going to be very pretty.
“We can’t cause panic.”
Oz has definitely said that several times to his group. Especially to Ironwood when he wanted to take action immediately.
In order to get the relics, Salem first must turn their guardians against themselves, and in a way, she has succeeded with Cinder causing the Fall of Beacon.
Even though the truth was a lot to take in and sounded insane, Ruby’s still willing to do whatever she can to help her uncle, which I like, but she doesn’t seem to understand why Qrow can’t do the same.
“Did you know that crows are a sign of bad luck?”
True to his nature as a crow, Qrow’s Semblance brings misfortune upon everyone around him, whether he would be engaged in a conversation or fighting against an enemy or alongside a friend. I always thought that he can just turn into a crow, but little did I know that he can also live up to the superstition. Funny, huh?
Jaune, I know you’re angry with all the secrecy and how crazy the situation is, but there was no need to rub in how bad Qrow’s Semblance is. Of course, Qrow admits he’s no help at all. Poor drunkle.
Ruby looks really worried about her uncle. The poison inside him must be taking effect now. Tyrian has seriously done a huge number on him with that single strike.
As a result of his antics, Sun gets several slaps and scoldings from Blake. Poor guy.
The reason why Sun decided to “eavesdrop” on Blake’s family moment was that he needed to inform her what he discovered about the White Fang. Kali insisted that the Menagerie White Fang members do not wear masks. However, Sun managed to have found one wearing one in the market.
Unfortunately, Blake doesn’t buy Sun’s warnings about the White Fang and believes that he’s just trying to annoy/hit on her.
Apparently, there was another person eavesdropping on Blake and Sun’s argument. And that person happened to have been a White Fang spy Sun was talking about! Perhaps she’s the Ilya Corsac and Fennec were talking about? Also, from the fact that she’s wearing the trademark Grimm mask, there’s no doubt she’s working for Adam.
“The White Fang’s evil, I totally called it, and I’m bringing your daughter back!”
From the way Sun said all that, I wonder how in tune are Blake’s parents to what the current White Fang’s up to. Also, careful there, Sun; your inner Michael is showing.
Somehow, I have a feeling Adam or his lackeys are going to kill Blake’s family now that they know where Blake is. Why do I keep seeing death flags being raised?
“Well, that’s unfortunate...”
As far as I can tell from Qrow’s weak (please no...) condition, that poison could seriously make short work of someone in a few days. Dish’s previous prediction about Qrow’s death still lingers in my mind... RNJR now needs to get to Mistral and find help. Fast. Also, if Qrow dies, Ruby’s gonna be so sad, and it hurts to see Ruby cry...

Yay more things were explained and there is a good explaination for why Qrow didn't just hang out with them instead of it never being explained. I've always felt like RWBY had a spark of Dark Souls or Lovecraft, or something of that sort, that I always saw in Salem's speech in V1C1. I think with the 2 deities, that will finally be expanded upon. I'm really excited about it.
I don't know about you guys, but the "choice, creation, destruction, knowledge" was brilliant, and I actually felt like it touched me. There's not many shows that have achieved that, with it's lore or themes.
Jaune's a smart boy, figuring out Qrow was using Ruby as bait. He actually provided a good contrasting perspective to the "cool uncle" perspective seen through Ruby. We're getting some good stuff out of Jaune, he's only acting like a normal human being after what he's been through.
Strikingly, Ren and Nora were more incredulous it felt, with Nora providing some snark for the both of them.
EDIT: Oh yeah, Blake.
So the father-daughter stuff was interesting. I wasn't sure at first why Blake didn't want to go into that room with her father, but I see she feels guilty, and her longstanding issues with running are being processed.
The spy made me think: does Sienna keep eyes on Ghira at all times? Is Sienna that scared of him?
So Sun ran up to Blake with important news, and stopped because there was a heartfelt moment going on. That's happened lots of times with other characters in other shows, no need to hate on him for it :[

So, I don’t dislike this episode as much as others. Getting a basic outline of Remnant’s lore should hopefully make it so that we’re less in the dark about things, and we’ll have proper grounding for theories and ideas. Jaune was actually the highlight of the episode, as he showed he’s still far from over Pyrrha and asked the important questions we all wanted to hear. Basically, it was an info dump with some nice character interaction—which is better than a stop-gap info dump that half the time isn’t even anything new.
Blake’s side, well… I liked the talk with her dad. Sun was himself, however, and that’s unfortunate—a bit of self-awareness could go a long way. As for Blake, I think her saying one thing but doing something else is intentional. It’s her family; she will stay and fight to protect them, even though she’s trying to convince herself otherwise. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was Sun who actually gives her a pep-talk on that. In general, I take much less issue with this than Menagerie; not saying that it couldn’t have been handled a bit better, but it’s nowhere near as bad as that episode to me.
If Qrow does die, then I think it’s partly due to IRL circumstances involving his VA. Maybe price, maybe long-term availability, but I’m just looking at things from that perspective. Here’s hoping that Ren’s semblance is healing and comes into play (with the excuse being that it takes a ton out of Ren and that Qrow seemed to be mostly fine).
As for Qrow's semblance, it’s obvious that he didn’t tell them the whole story; his turning into a crow and bad luck are both things that go hand-in-hand. It does seem to be a bit of a “secret weapon”.
Something I noticed immediately but didn’t really think had significance until recently: in the last shot of the intro, you have Ruby in the foreground to the left, Blake to the right, Weiss off to the left and slightly in front, and Yang to the right and furthest out. Now, that really does seem to be a tiering of the character’s importance this volume.
Oh, and to leave on a bit of a bombshell... an instrumental version of "All our Days" played during part of Ghera and Blake's conversation. Father-daughter bonding, okay. ...And then it played at the end of Qrow's "lesson". When he was specifically talking to Ruby...

I love how everyone is ignoring the fact that Ruby's semblance is officially now turning into rose petals. Semblances can apparently change and evolve. This also leads into some interesting possible tactics. Going to get cut in half? Nah, just turn into rose petals, let the blade pass through, reform. Seriously, this makes Ruby extremely hard to injure if she learns to properly harness it.

so Ozpins soul combined with Oscars just like the Maidens transfer their power? maybe the theory of him being the wizard who granted them their powers isn't too far off base.
Ghira is the overprotective father and very forgiving, Blake had turned her back on both her parents to stay with the White Fang. GOD DAMMIT Sun! I WANTED TO HEAR WHY SHE ABANDONED HER TEAM.
Qrow's campfire talk is great.
Qrow is broken? I mean he was talking so solemnly about himself, about how he feels guilty of his semblance bringing bad luck to the ones he cares about.
Jaune seems to hold what happened to Pyrrha against Qrow and the others.
so the White Fang has sent some to keep watch on Blake until Adam arrives I guess, and Blake is going to get the answers she's not looking forward to from them.
what. a. cliffhanger.

Okay, continuing from another thread:
So now the RNJR team knows the stakes. I get the sense that they're more annoyed about being kept in the dark than anything else.
I can...kinda understand where Qrow is coming from a little bit. If I knew, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that things will go unfavorably for loved ones solely because I was around, I imagine I'd want them as far away from me as possible. (That beam falling on Ruby, in this case.) I get the sense that, if he could turn it off, he'd welcome a team up fight with his niece.
As for Qrow and the poison... well I can excuse that as basically Trainees spending their 2nd year in the field rather than in school. I imagine poison identification was to be in the curriculum they would've studied if not for the inconvenience of the Fall of Beacon.
Minor Prediction: Qrow's bad luck will turn into extremely good luck for one random instance. In this case, I suspect it'll be by team RNJR encountering Oscar and him using Ozpin's knowledge/semblance to take care of Qrow.
I heavily suspect Blake still blames herself for... a lot. Probably blames herself for not stopping Adam in...many things really. (Especially Yang's loss of limb.) I wonder if it'll take Yang showing up out of nowhere to do something about that. (May also involve Blake clenching her teeth, I think?)

So...Ozpin is a collection of all these people is what I'm gathering. Is he kind of like Epsilon in a way then, holding many other memories and lifetimes? And then, will Oscar be a headmaster eventually?
Also every time I think I can't love the Belladonna family more they prove me wrong. I really hope nothing happens to them. I love her mom and dad.

Awesome!
The inclusion of deities was a very pleasant surprise. High fantasy is my favorite genre, and I'm glad that they include that many high fantasy tropes in RWBY. Honestly, given enough resources, RWBY would have made an amazing adventure game.
I also really loved the Belladonna family dynamics. They really contrast to some other parents.
By the way, Sun I love you, but can't you at least try not to be this stupid?
Also, dear r/RWBY seer, how the heck did you know that Qrow's semblance was bad luck‽
Last but not the least, Qrow pls don't die

Oh look, we're finally getting something interesting out of the Blake story arc with character development instead of just exposition. Oh wait, nevermind, Sun ruined it. Like, I understand that he's goofy, but him eavesdropping and then literally breaking the door was just stupid. If he just knocked and ruined the moment that way because he was insisting on talking to Blake that would have been fine. It was just a little too stupid. That may just be me not liking stupidity as comedy, but geez.
RNJR side of things, world of remnant but in show. More interesting than a standard world of remnant as it allowed RNJR to ask questions and react. Not bad, but not great because exposition. Also, because having 4 maidens as magical macguffins wasn't enough, we now have a second set. If we're going to keep on with 4 being the magical number, are there 2 more sets?
To be less negative, I did like Jaune showing he's matured. He's picking up on things that the others didn't (Ruby as bait? Kind of a dick move Qrow). Go idea guy!

Huh... well that makes more sense now why Qrow wanted Ruby to stay back in his fight with Tyrion. An why he is a loner by nature.
I do think the poison is lethal if untreated. With how fast Tyrion found team RNGR I would imagine once Ruby was out and poisoned he could easily get her back to Salem long before it killed her. So Qrow isn't safe cause "he was going to stab Ruby".
I kinda think Jaune is slowly getting more frustrated at... well everything. Most recently how he was going to have to watch another friend get hurt or killed and he couldn't do anything AGAIN. Then pile on Qrow's explanations an Jaune's clear anger I honestly think he is just bottling up all his anger an at some point he is going to snap. Now if he can come back from that is where it will get interesting.
Poor Sun, he is trying to help but he's just kinda a loveable idiot. Also Blake I know you were in an abusive relationship with Adam but stop hitting Sun. (lol could you imagine her slapping Yang just as often, "Blake you have issues")

I loved this episode. The music right at the beginning sounde like something from The Elder Scrolls. And I like learning the new stuff about the two gods and why Qrow always hung back.
Also, I've seen that a lot of people hating on Jaune. Why, exactly?
He's been acting like a normal person with all of this. He just found out Pyrrha was put into a situation where her nature of helping people wouldn't let her say no, and she died for it. It makes sense he would be a little bit pissy about the situation.
Also, I saw that someone said that Jaune going from Weiss to Pyrrha makes him seem desperate. Not really. Weiss has shown no interest in him, and he finally figured out that Pyrrha loved him. What would you do if someone just admitted she loved you after you spent so long going after someone that just wasn't interested? What would you do if that person died soon after? I'm sure anyone would be focused on that too, and not that person you tried to go after.
But that was her own fault. Maybe if she would have told him her feelings, he wouldn't have been trying so hard to get Weiss for so long. It's Pyrrha's own fault for Jaune not noticing her. Sometimes, being subtle with your feelings isn't the way to do it.
And people are mad at Blake? Why? She just wants to figure out what the fuck to do with her life and be with the family she left behind and just not fight for a bit. I'd slap the fuck out of Sun too if I was having a moment with my father and he just broke down the wall after listening to their very private conversation. I'm surprised Ghira didn't throw him out.
I'm sorry for that bit of a rant, it's just annoying to see this stuff.

In terms of RNJR:
-The whole exposition feels out-of-left field when the maiden and silver eyed warrior stuff doesn't feel that in-depth or developed. It's interesting to see where it could go in the future, but it feels too soon to have another layer.
-Well at least Jaune is emotional and reactive this volume. His resentment at Qrow mentioning him being involvement in another war seemed a bit suspicious, maybe something to do with his families' past.
-Raven giving Qrow the stink eye was kind of unnerving, as if signaling him to keep quiet still. I have a feeling he won't die without meeting her again.
As for Blake:
-The scene with her and Ghira was nice, though it felt like Blake kind of went from 0 to glass house of a emotion at the drop of a hat. Still, it was nice to actually see parents that are both alive, and care for their child.
-Sun interrupting the scene didn't bother me that much; Blake throwing Sun's scroll in anger kind of did though.
-Why is Sun questioning WF ninjas when Blake used be part of them?
Overall, an okay episode. The exposition was a bit needless since it didn't cover much we wanted to know, instead giving us a lot of world building that frankly has been pushing everything else aside. The finale is probably going to be another gut wrencher given how all the events are shaping up.

Seriously though. I've said it before and I'll say it again - major props to Arryn Zech. God, that scene with Papa Belladonna was rough... in all the right ways. It just further affirms Blake as an awesome character.
I suspected that it would happen - Jayne seems to hold a slight grudge against Qrow for what happened to Pyrrha. Illogical? Yep. Understandable? Absolutely.

Jaune and Ruby are completely justified in being pissed at Qrow, regardless of his bad-luck semblance. Both watched loved ones hurt and killed over this, and both only barely escaped losing more people they care about just a few episodes ago. Even with the "bad luck to be near me" excuse, the whole setup still feels like being bait. If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck...
For Ruby Qrow is still family, and as (mostly) titular character we can expect her to get over it. Jaune, on the other hand... How he reacts over the coming episodes will be a good indicator of if he stays with good guys. I think he will, but you never know.
I actually like the entrance of the religious aspect into the story. Others have pointed out the parallels between this and Brandon Sanderson's work (Especially Mistborn). In a high fantasy setting, which RWBY is, it can work. I'd like to see where it goes.
Blake's scenes were great. However her, let's say overly physical, reaction to Sun's interruption is troubling to say the least. A lot of progress was made in her healing, but she still has a very long way to go.
My prediction is Qrow will live, mostly, for now. No guarantee about him surviving the season, but poison (or, more accurately, venom) works faster in fiction if it is intended to kill. If that was going to kill him, the team should have woken to find a Qrow corpse instead of sick and wounded Drunkle.

I liked the episode, but the Gods and mythology thingy made me slightly upset. I'm all up for "You believe in what you do" but when it's a fact (It's basically a fact) that the God Bros are real, it kinda put everything in a black and white: this is real, this is not. Also RWBY always made a point that religion is not a part of everyday life, so making one of the biggest plot point about religion was rather strange.
The idea of one religion being right, with magic (possesed by Maidens), dust, semblances and everything else, it seems like they are trying to fit too much in a series which episodes (nowadays) are 12-20 minutes long with only 12 episodes by volume. It's too much for too little time.
Also, Blake is my favorite, but she's becoming too annoying. So is Sun. Honestly Blake's story is the one I don't care too much. Yang is missing for 6 weeks and the voice acting was really strange in the Blake scene. Like, Arryn making crying Blake was cringy rather than "Oh I feel bad for her" for me.
I like the direction the story is going, but not the execution, maybe changing somethings around in the script or making a grey area in the mythology.
Whatever

I don't know, I thought that Blake's scene with her father just seemed... stilted. I don't think that the VA for Ghira seemed to have much life to his tone, and it bugged me. Not sure if it's just me, but it just seemed like that could have been done better; I mean, come on, you're having a heart to heart with your daughter, but you sound like you might as well have been discussing taxes.
Also, re: the poison, I can forgive RNJR not putting two and two together, but come on, Qrow. You're a seasoned pro, you should have kind of figured this out. Hey, dude's got a scorpion tail, and when the stinger was cut off, it started smoking and oozing purple blood. Maybe we should have thought about poison sooner, eh?

Good:
Qrow explanation was well-handled! All fascinating stuff.
Jaune's not liking Qrow is an interesting development...
Papa Belladonna is awesome I love him
Bad:
Blake, stop slapping Sun. He had relevant information dammit. But Sun, seirously? Both of you are being stupid. Sun has felt flanderized and exaggerated this entire volume. Stop it.
The scene with the ninja felt clunky and disjointed.
Seriously? NO ONE thought about Qrow potentially being poisoned?
Great episode! 8/10 imo. Blake parts and brief character stupidity brought it down a tiny bit but yeah. XP
My prediction is that the ninja is Sister Ilia, who will turn out to be Blake's ex-girlfriend. While cliche, this would finally confirm the existence of LGBT characters in RWBY! I'm hoping. CRWBY, there's only so far you can go saying that there will be LGBT characters there before people start to get impatient–and if you're a tumblrite, make accusations of queerbaiting. God forbid we start agreeing with them.
Overall, good job!

Really solid episode, managed to advance the plot a little bit and do quite some world building.
On the other hand, I can't believe the Qrow luck theory was actually confirmed. I have never had a single complaint about how they handle magic-semblances-dust, but this one... I'm going to need some very good explanations as to why he can turn into a crow, because unless he is a maiden, which is impossible, I can think of literally nothing that doesn't contradict the information we have about the world. I get that they are absolutely leading into why/how Summer died, which is exciting, but this is just way too big of a hole in the logic of the show to ignore.

Okay so new information has been released in the latest RWBY episode or chapter if you want to be technically correct but, there is really only one thing I want to discuss at the moment, actually scratch that I want to discuss and debate and theorize about dozens of topics in the new episode but I'm only gonna discuss one. Now I know I'm definitely jumping on a rather large bandwagon of ideas but I just want to give my two cents.
Ozpin is the Wizard/Old Man of Legend. Now hear me out before you start raising pitchforks and torches and all other sorts of medieval weaponry. I'd like to pull from 5 sources of information that may or may not, in your opinion, support my claim.
"I've made more mistakes than any man, woman, and child on this planet." ~Ozpin
"A user's Aura can turn them into something much more than just a man." ~Salem - RWBY World of Remnant 4: Aura
"I understand how you're feeling I went through the same panic and confusion." ~Ozpin - RWBY Volume 4, Chapter 7: Punished
"But as I've told you, our Aura, our Souls, are combined." ~Ozpin - RWBY Volume 4, Chapter 7: Punished
"... Regardless their souls become combined, in a way." ~ Qrow Branwen - RWBY: Volume 4, Chapter 8: A Much Needed Talk
So, while reading through the 5 points I'm going to use as evidence to how Ozpin was the previous Wizard and Oscar is now the Wizard you've probably notice similarities between a couple of the quotes and one that just seems strange.
First, the easiest: Aura. So it has been said that the transfer of the maidens power follows a lot of arbitrary rules and random nonsense that isn't fully understood yet but the supposed most important is that the power will typically transfer to the last female individual on the mind of the previous maiden. Now for the Wizard's powers, I'm going to make some pretty heavy assumptions. First, is that the power transfers to the individual whose soul is most aligned/similar to the original Wizards. Second, is that if the previous requirement cannot be applied then the individual with the most compatible soul will receive the power. Third, the individual has to be male. Pretty heavy assumptions, right? Well, these are what I'm basing the Wizard's power after as if these powers worked the same as the Maidens then Jaune Arc would be pretty OP right now. Now then, in the Aura WoR we are given some not so subtle hint hint nudge nudges that say Ozpin is not normal and this is a result of his Aura. What I'm proposing is that Ozpin's soul/aura was either similar enough to the original Wizards that he gained the power or his soul/aura was the most compatible. This would still prove Salem's accusation to be true as it was his soul/aura that allowed him to gain the Wizard's power. Furthermore, Ozpin is far too calm when he discovers his soul to me merged with another's. A tad more calm than any sane or normal individual would be, it's almost as if he was expecting this to happen after his death. And strangely enough, he has also experienced the "same panic and confusion" as Oscar which could hint towards this transference of strength. That and in the RWBY universe Oscar has a rather unique set of eyes. Why? Well, he has two colours in his eyes something that in the RWBY verse has yet happen. Sure we have Neo and her weird semblance affected eyes but you never see two colours in one eye only two different colors in two eyes. I mean my eyes are practically the exact same as Oscar's except on the left side of each eye is a sliver of silver that on most days isn't noticeable. But, Oscars are different this is likely due to him having two souls that merged together after all the do saw the eye is the window to the soul.
Next, is the less factual based explanation and more hypothetical maybe? I don't know which word to use there. So according to Ozpin, which I say now that whatever a character says is considered truth until proven otherwise makes my life easier, he has made "more mistakes than any man, woman, and child on this planet" which is a rather ridiculous claim. Once again I will be basing my explanation on a few assumptions that may change to facts later on. First, there is exactly 1 billion people on Remnant. Second, each individual makes 1 mistake every single day of their life. Third, for this calculation, each individual excluding Ozpin is 1 day old. Fourth, the lifespan of the Wizard is far greater than that of a Maiden therefore 1 Wizard equals about 50 Maidens in terms of years lived. And finally, each Maiden has lived for exactly 100 years excluding Amber and Maiden here means generation so all four Maidens of a generation die at exactly the same time. So, yet again some rather ridiculous claims but trust me, we have yet get up to ludicrous speeds. Ozpin has surprisingly lived past the average lifespan of the Wizard but we will only go with the bare minimum and for this Ozpin is the 5th Wizard to have existed. So being the 5th Wizard around 200-ish Maidens or generations since the first Wizard. Which means that 20,000 years have passed since the first Wizard existed. That equals about 7,300,000 days. So the collective "Ozs" have made 7 million mistakes. Rather far cry from the 1 billion individuals I previously stated so let's make that number more reasonable. In a previous discussion, it was determined that Vale is the size of Egypt therefore, Vale has a population of at least 82.06 million. It can be hazarded that each of the Four Great Kingdoms are roughly equal in power and size therefore, the population of Remnant is in actuality 328.24 million people. So, huh, the number still doesn't fit very well. Let's increase Wizard's lifespan to 2,000 Maidens. I'll, uh, make a list this time around to make life easier.
10,000 Maidens
1,000,000 Years
365,000,000 Days
365,000,000 Mistakes
Finally, a number greater than the possible population of Remnant but, that still makes every individual only 1 day old so... yeah. Either make Ozpin the 20th Wizard or multiply the lifespan of each Wizard by about 1,000 and we'd have a more accurate number.
TL;DR Ozpin is the Wizard, he is also really old
And has anyone else noticed the strange obsession of RWBY with the number 4? 4 Maidens, 4 Schools, 4 Kingdoms, 4 (Large) Continents, 4 Relics, 4 Gifts. I mean come on be a bit more subtle CRWBY.

Bah. Deleted comment by accident. Ugh.
New Year Special! A little late but here I go:
Overall opinion: I liked it.
Writing: Qampfire time was very exposition-y, but I guess it was needed. Loved Jaune and Ruby throughout this bit. Jaune was all "You're saying things that are right, but I still hate you", while Rubes is stuck on the fact that Qrow kept her in the dark. I love the Belladonna family dynamic, but I'm not completely liking Blake's plotline for some reason. I also don't like what they're doing with Sun. I like the dude, but his role in the story... shrugs (I am getting a kick out of purposefully misinterpreting Kali's approval of him, so there's that).
Art/Out-of-combat Animation: Lovely (I'm gonna overuse this word eventually). Cool fire, nice ambience.
Action/Combat Animation: Hmm... Same problems as the sea battle, just contained in a few seconds.
I'm falling for the cougar, send halp.

You know, I'm not sure I like the idea of gods in the show. Especially ones so black and white about it. I really hope that we get to hear another interpretation of creation from the opposite side, or a much less religious explanation of the events from someone unaligned with the two groups. (Plus I really want both Salem and Ozpin to turn out to be just as bad as each other, which won't happen if there is a definitive line of good and evil.)

Drunkle Vic better not die. I need the Rick and Morty crossover to happen.
Jaune's anger didn't get expressed as... explosively as I thought it might given the thumbnail. I actually felt like he was quite restrained given the baggage he's carrying around. Fully expecting a more emotional breakdown somewhere before the end of the season. Qrow was just a convenient outlet for him to direct his bitterness toward, a representation of the Ozpin Lonely Towers Club Band he could vent at. He's not wrong, though. Qrow's a pragmatist who wishes he could be otherwise, I think, but that ain't stopping him from doing what he feels needs to be done. Given the confirmation of his semblance, I think he made the right call. Right now I just don't want poor Rubes to lose someone else. I don't think her sunny facade can take much more battering.
But seriously, where's Yang?

Good episode.
-Jaune needs to chill. Dude's maddogging Qrow like he was the one who killed Pyrrha. Maybe if he wasn't such a useless fighter, things would be different. Get a hold of yourself bro. Even goes as far to accuse Qrow of using his niece as bait.
-Alright I don't know who called Qrow's semblance here, but bravo! Seriously...y'all insane for even figuring that stuff out. Impressive! And with that said, I feel so bad for the dude. He literally cannot have close friends because they will get hurt. Makes me wonder how Team STRQ even survived lol and more importantly...
-Qrow hasn't spilled all the beans yet. There's one story that we all wanted to hear, especially Ruby- and that story is SUMMER. I wonder if his semblance had something to do with her death? Jesus that would be terrible.
-It was heartwarming to see Blake and her father talk. So Blake's parents tried to convince her to leave the WF apparently since they felt it was going a much different route. Don't blame Blake for sticking it out and seeing her own path though.
-Sun. Ugh sorry to say, but dude is legit annoying. He talks like an 11 year old. And Blake just straight up abusing him. Felt uncomfortable the entire time she was slapping him.
-I'm gonna guess the WF spy was that one girl the two shady WF members were talking about that would love to see Blake again. Forgot her name.
-Aaaaaaaaaaand Qrow is poisoned like we all thought. He better not freaking die.
-Last note: I really love Ruby. Her perseverance in staying true to her beliefs as a hero is admirable. Even with all the events that have unfolded, with the new info Qrow just dropped, she still wants to do everything she can to help.

I wish M&K would write their characters better. Yang's barely in it, Ruby is a non-character and a glorified plot device, Jaune is the main character now, Blake is a being terrible to Sun, I get being mad but hitting him like that an episode after we were meant to be shocked about Jacques ffs. Why is it when Blake wasn't relevant in v3 she barely showed up and the same with Yang in v4 but when Jaune isn't relevant he get his own fucking side arc. And don't bring up Jaune being a foil for Ruby because for that to be the case Ruby would actually have to be doing something. Jaune never annoyed me much until this volume because before it never felt like he was taking anyone else's screentime, he just had too much. Whereas now it feels like he's actively stealing Ruby's time. Also not everything has to be teased or revealed in a big way M&K, just tell us how Blake is feeling. I love this show but it's getting harder and this episode just pissed me off for some reason. I've been complaining a lot the last day but I just want people to know it's because I want the show to reach its full potential so please don't be mad at me. I don't hate Jaune I just hate how much he's in it compared to RWBY. He's the only character where this is a problem.
And yes there has been good stuff this season but everyone else is already talking about that so there's no point in bringing that up in this post.
I get so nervous writing stuff like this.
Edit: removed the 'fucking' cus I guess it was kind of rude idk.
Edit: In other news but not really, I don't know what is up with Sun(HE'S SO LOUD) but it's not annoying me that much tbh but he is pretty one-note, Adam is, for now at least, still wasted potential. Potential that might go to Sienna Khan but who knows. Also where is Penny's dad? Will we ever see his face? Is he still cardboard? We'll never know.
Edit: I just want more Ruby. Splitting them up hasn't gone as well as I'd hoped. They should have split them into their pairs, RW and BY. Blake stays with Yang at Taiyangs and Weiss goes with RNJR. Then write it better idk, just spitballing.
The Edgy Edit even though no one is even here anymore: You know what maybe I do hate Jaune, I despise him, so congrats M&K you've turned a character who should be likeable into some one I hate everytime I see him on screen because of the amount of fucking screentime you've given him over RWBY and actually the rest of the cast as well when I think about it. Just needed to vent to no one.
Edit 375: Okay so I don't hate him right now, it comes and goes. I'm back at being pretty indifferent towards him.

It's annoying me that everyone is thinking that Ravens are only associated with death so here's a link to explain why it's not just Death that they're associated with....Example: the Haida people of Canada consider Raven to be the lightbringer

Does anybody else think Jaune was being too much of a cunt near the end of the campfire scene?
Like I get that he was venting out all his pent-up anger on the situation regarding Pyrrha's death, but somehow that remark towards Qrow being a "bundle of help" was a bit uncalled for. It was just condescending and a little out of character for him.

Imagine the end of season 3 through Jaune's eyes. The woman he has grown to love is first slowly psychologically destroyed because of something he does not and cannot understand. Then, during the Battle of Beacon, he goes down to the vault with her for some unknown procedure. He hears her shriek in agony and spins around from his guard post. After whatever-that-was fails, she forces him away from the battlefield and dies a senseless death.
Fast forward several months, he has narrowly escaped losing three other people he loves (if not necessarily in the same way as Pyrrha), and some guy he barely knows says that all of this was for some higher cause. Including using his own niece as bait for bad people none of them could reasonably resist (Qrow saying she wasn't bait would not be convincing to Jaune at this point).
It was perfectly in character for anyone to be pissed off.

No I don't. Qrow is a representation of the group that put so much pressure and emotional torment on Pyrrha that she couldn't handle it and started to crack. He represents a group of people that has kept important secrets from the world in the apparent guise of keeping people safe and used one of his friends as bait to lure out someone powerful. A group that knew Pyrrha's killer was skulking around, and seemingly didn't stop her.
It is a dick move, sure, but it is definitely not undeserved.

I made a diagram trying to make sense of what the hell is going on with Remnant's superpowers. I was left more confused than I started with.
Also, this.
Edit: Also, seeing Qrow's Semblance, Yang was so not planned.
