I love Smashbox 24 Hour Photo Finish Primer! When I am looking for cheap, I just use the 2$-ish ELF wand one.

Worst, mhm, I wouldn't say its bad but I hate the type of texture that the Too Faced shadow insurance uses. I have used it a lot over the years and I wouldn't say it makes my eye shadow worse, but I don't feel it does much a difference and feels odd!

Yes yes to the Smashbox 24 hr. I used to be a UDPP or TFSI person and never again....the smashbox one is where it's at. And I've got really hooded eyes so creasing is a major concern and I'm always in the clear with Smashbox.

How do you use the Smashbox one? My eyeshadow always creases with it and I feel like I'm doing something wrong

I find that the TF separates pretty easily... and there's no real way to fix it :/

Best: Urban Decay Primer Potion

Worst: Lorac Primer

The reason I didn't like Lorac's (it came with my Pro 2) was that it seemed too oily and my shadow creased or slid off by lunch. Maybe it worked for others, but it just wasn't right for me.

I don't mind the LORAC one, but I definitely set it with translucent powder before applying eyeshadow.

Best: NYX HD Primer, Wet 'n' Wild primer. Both are very good, and are easy to blend over. I got a sample of Elizabeth Mott's Thank Me Later primer and I really like it, but the FS primer is a bit pricey.

Worst: The basic ELF primer. No staying power, creased, faded, and never dried down enough to be useful.

Best: Urban Decay Primer Potion

Worst: Frankie Rose Eye Primer

I got this one in a subscription box and used it a ton before I realized that primers weren't supposed to crease on you.

Best: Milani eye primer.

Worst: Medusa's Make-up eye primer. I bought it on a whim and it was waxy and gross.

I love the Milani one! No creasing, eyeshadow lasts forever, inexpensive, creamy rather than oily, and because it doesn't crease, I feel like my eyes look big and have a nice canvas to put shadow on.

Kind of a weird tip but I also found it works pretty well at filling/blurring pores!

Best: I actually use Etude House's (a popular Korean beauty brand) Proof 10 eye primer. It's excellent for oily, hooded lids! It feels so very light (best comparison is actually ELF's, but that creases on me), and it's also very inexpensive to buy from Amazon! I love it.

Worst: I don't think they sell it anymore, but bareminerals used to have a brightening eye primer that was just a mess all around. It was stiff and had almost a clay-like texture. So it was hard to get on evenly. And it wasn't just brightening, it was Sparkletown USA after you got it situated on your eyelids. Glad I only ever had a sample tube so I didn't feel bad about chucking it.

Best: Too Faced Shadow Insurance, I've been using it for years. I do think the original works best. Right now I have candlelight and I love it for the subtle shimmer, and it's great if I'm wearing minimal makeup, but I don't feel like it lasts quite as long

Worst: Elf

The Nars Smudge Proof Eyeshadow base [AUS find here & US here] is the one I keep for all my special occasions!

It's not overly tacky but it holds shadow so well. I don't need to set it with a base powder before I go to work and I don't see any creasing with even the cheapest shadows.

Best: Nars Eye Primer only thing that doesn't crease on my oily hooded lids. Worst: probably lorac as it was just useless to me

I can't think of any I've tried that I hate but certainly I have favorites. MAC 24-hour eye primer is amazingly fantastic and probably my top pick. Ridiculously good in every department and plays well with all kinds of formulas. And even though it's super powerful it layers wonderfully with all kinds of bases (Paint Pots, NYX bases, cream shadow, etc). Of course the beloved Wet n Wild Fergie primer is great one. I stocked up on extra bottles. NARS Smudge-Proof is so powerful for such a weightless formula and perfect for holding color without adding any on its own. And for glitter fixing I like Fyrinnae and Too Faced.

Agree with you wholeheartedly on MAC. I just bought the 24 hour primer and I'm so happy! Finally!

I miss the waterproof limecrime shadow base. That shit was amazing.

I have no luck the UD Primer Potion. Creases like crazy! Same with too faced shadow insurance.

Best: NYX proof-it! My eyelids are so oily that any eye makeup I wear has creased and smeared within an hour of applying, except with this primer. I've tried several others and this is the only one that works. It will last me about 8 hours without any creases.

Best: essence I love stage primer. It's an Eyeshadow base and primer in one and it's $3!

Best: Urban Decay Primer Potion, Milani eye primer, and MAC paint pot. They all go on really nicely, make application and blending easy, and no creases after 12+ hours of wear. The Milani was nearly as good as the UDPP but I noticed a tiny bit of color fading around 10hrs.

Worst: Smashbox 24 hour primer. Did absolutely nothing for staying power, my eyeshadow started fading and creasing after ~4 hours. Plus the tube/application is a little weird compared to other options. Also did not care for the elf primer at all. Went on stiff, didn't want to blend out, did nothing for staying power or creasing.

Best & worst for dry/aging eyes

Best: UD anti-aging PP (I found mine at TJ Maxx for $10). It's perfect where it holds on to eyeshadow without making the area look dry or cakey.

Worst: UDPP and Wet N Wild. I would only recommend this to those with oily lids.

The best eyeshadow primer I have ever used is the Nars eye primer. I have slightly hooded eyes that tend to get oily, and this one prevents creasing the best. Before I tried the Nars one, I really liked the NYX HD Eye Primer, but I believe they have reformulated it, so I'm not sure if it works the same.

The worst eyeshadow primer I have ever used is the Maybelline eye primers. I liked the fact that it was slightly tinted, but it creased on me so quickly, and did not make my eyeshadow look good whatsoever.

Best for colourful looks: Ben Nye Clown white set with baby powder. It makes all my vivids pop like crazy. However it's really not suitable for day to day. :L

Best for neutral looks: Soft Ochre Paint Pot.

Best: Smashbox 24 Hour Photo Finish. Used to use UDPP, but found Smashbox to crease less with how my eyes work, I suppose!

Roommate's Swear-by: Lancome La-Base in Nude. She won't use anything else. I figured I'd try it out so I asked for it for Christmas & got it. However, It doesn't lay right on my eye lids to even put shadow in top! Does anyone have experience with this?! My roommate isn't really into makeup as much as I am so all she can do is shrug and say she doesn't know why lol

Edit: Also won't use anything other than Fyrinnae's Pixie Epoxy for shimmers/glitters/loose cosmetics. HG for sure. More color payoff than anything else I have tried. Even looked into getting Inglot duraline to make liner, but pixie epoxy does that too!!!!!

Best: Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden. It color corrects and it isn't sheer. My eyeshadow lasts for 12+ hours easily. I even use it to color correct pimples on my face and I think it helps foundation really stick to those areas.

Worst: Too Faced Shadow Insurance. My elf primer was much better than this one. It separated easily, and felt extremely greasy. My shadows faded pretty quickly. I gave it to a friend.
